[Q] No GPS signal on Navigon Select app on HTC HD7

Hi Guys,
I have installed Navigon Select on my HTC HD7 as explained in "Navigon Select GPS Navigation for WP7" but for some strange reason I am not able to see my current location, when I navigate to in the application I go to "GPS Info" it always says 0.0 and 0.0
My GPS location in turned on in the settings.
I get a pop-up message when i lunch the application that "Mobile Navigator" uses GPS data to locagte your position.
I thought that my gps might be broken but no... on the bing maps it shows exact location based on the GPS not on the mobile network signal.
I also tried "TA Maps" google maps and it shows location correctly...
I have reinstalled the navigon app but i got same results...
any help would be much appreciated,
ps. i wasn't able to replay to the post "Navigon Select GPS Navigation for WP7" because its my first post.

For anybody else who might have the same problem:
I got my gps on navigon working after uninstalling some of the apps which were also using GPS it seemed for me like there is a limit of how many apps can use GPS signal. I must admit I had about 20.

I have same problem with my LG quantum. Would you mind sharing which app did you uninstall? Everything using location?

GPS doesn't work in Google Maps - but is okay in Navigation

I've got a problem. When I open Google Maps it doesn't seem to activate my GPS so my location is decided by the operator-network and/or wifi, and is not very precise. I've tried to keep Google Maps open for a long time but my location is never that precise as when the GPS is activated. Also if I log into Android Device Manager on the web, I only get a location with an accuracy of 1.5-2 kilometres so that's neither located by GPS.
But if I then enter a route in Google Maps and use the Navigation, the GPS is turned on and everything is fine. It's the same if I use Sygic GPS Navigation. I've got Avast Anti-Theft installed on my phone and if I log into avast.com and send a location command to my phone, it's also located by GPS with an accuracy of 5 metres.
I've installed 'GPS Status & Toolbox' and set the app to show an icon in my navigation bar when the GPS is used. And it's the same as described above - when Google Maps is open there's no icon but when I use Navigation the icon it's there.
I'm pretty sure that on my last phone (Samsung Galaxy S II) with Android 4.4.2 Google Maps also used the GPS and I've got a precise location every time, so my question is how to get it in the same way on my new phone (Sony Xperia Z1) with Android 4.4.4? There are many times I just want to see on Google Maps exactly where I am without using the Navigation directions to a specific location.

Have either of you guys tried clearing app data and see if that works? Every once in a while I get that to resolve my issues.

i don't know about the gps not turning on at all, but it is a somewhat known bug on googles end when wifi is used to help location services, it frequently causes accuracy issues.
try turning off your wifi and see how it acts.
Yeah, off wifi it's more accurate. But yes, rooter, just cleared my app data and that did the trick, thanks.

[Q] GPS Issues

From out of the box I've been having GPS issues. It won't get a lock when I use navigation. I've tried different places, different apps (waze and google maps) and different times (different days). If I restart the phone, it'll get a lock after about 10 seconds.
What would cause the GPS to not work unless the phone is restarted?
I contacted OnePlus and they all but told me to go screw myself. They suggested that I should walk around to get a GPS lock and if it persists that I should reset my phone. I reset my phone but all that did was waste two hours of my life re-installing apps and settings.
Any ideas? Anyone else with this issue? The phone is perfect besides this =(
Can't say I'm sure, as I haven't had any issues, except if I caused them. You let google apps have location access in the settings? Are you wake blocking any google location services?
+1 to what roxxorz said. If OP applied the workaround to Google Play Services and denied access to location it can cause a problem.
Also in addition to that make sure your location is set to "High Accuracy" as well as enabling WiFi.
Do note that when your phone is on High Accuracy it is draining the most battery.
I also have the same problem when I m on stock XNPH25R. Have to reboot in order to get a lock from the GPS.

But after I switch to nightlies, no such GPS issue, works like a charm.
I am actually on stock 30O cm11s and I have a GPS lock in two out three seconds. Try to download GPS status app from Google play

Sorry I'm a complete noob when it comes to the advance stuff. I know nightlies are cyanogenmods quick version changes that may sometimes have small bugs, but never tried updating phone with nightlies. I've always just done the standard OTA updates on my previous phones.
GPS is always on high accurac. Surprisingly today, GPS was working like a charm. I haven't done anything that should affect this positive change.
What is wake locking?

It could be just a thing. Sometimes I'll have apps [maps] that'll lock up, like if they tried to connect and I stopped it / turned off data. At that point killing / force closing the app works.
Normally I'd say if you don't know, don't worry about it, but wake lock is where an app / process keeps the phone awake and keeps the phone from sleeping properly, which leads to more battery drain. Google play services is notorious for waking the device for nonsense, so more advanced users block it. If you have no issues, I'd recommend leaving it alone.
Same problem here

I'm seeing the same thing. GPS was working fine for a week or so, but when I went to use Waze this morning it wouldn't get a lock. GPSTools showed satellites, but wouldn't lock either. Reboot fixed it. A few hours later, same problem. Reboot once again fixed it. This is all stock.
I don't have anything to suggest, but wanted to add to the evidence that there is a problem.
I did install a couple of apps from the app store between the last time I saw the GPS work normally and this morning, so I'll try uninstalling them to see if that helps. I killed them from the task manager, but that didn't help.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble too, but glad I'm not going nuts. You're only the second person I've read that has the same issue I have. OnePlus support was of no help nor did they admit that the issue was real. I hope they'll figure this one out, cause I can't.
Please vote on this issue in CM's bugtracker: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON-115
Hints
Here's some new data. As I mentioned, my GPS was working fine up until a few days ago. In those few days, I installed 2 apps: "UP", by Jawbone, and "MyFitnessPal". Both of them use the GPS for some sort of logging.
Anyway, this morning I installed "AppOps" from the App Store. It's the one by Sylvain Galand, and the package is fr.slvn.appops. It doesn't need root, apparently. I used that to disable location access from both UP and MyFitnessPal. Since then, my GPS has been working fine again.
I think there's something broken under the LocationManager implementation in this version of Cyanogen. Seems like some apps are able to break it somehow. The other thread about this subject points fingers at Dragon Dictate, too. Whatever it is, apps shouldn't be able to wedge a system service like this.

I honestly hope that they at the very least acknowledge that this issue exists. GPS Navigation is a primary use for mobile. I haven't installed anything that would break location. All I Have is Waze and Google.

GPS Not Working

Hi,
I think I have a problem with GPS on my Oneplus One, it's so hard to lock to my location.
I use Google Maps for navigation (High Accuracy GPS), and it's always showing wrong location, sometimes even far off from my location. And if I look into the status bar, it's always showing "Searching for GPS". I thought it's a problem with Maps so I downloaded Here and Waze, but still the same story, Here and Waze always show wrong location, and Waze also says my GPS is off.
But it's also worth to mention that if I am home, all apps above showing right location. And also I just downloaded GPS Status and test it in my home, it stuck on "Looking for GPS location" message when I'm indoor, but it works when I'm outdoor. Obviously I haven't been outside since I downloaded GPS Status so I'll updated this thread later.

You need to be outside for GPS to work, there's no point testing inside because it'll never work.

Thanks for the info
But it supposed to work inside a moving car right? I tested and compared my OPO with my old Galaxy Tab 2 10" yesterday when I'm going outside. I ran GPS Status & Toolbox on both devices and it's seems like my Galaxy Tab locks position faster and more stable, although showed less total satellites than OPO.

Yes OPO gps detection is not so faster
If u have disabled Google play location services and maps app activate them in privacy guard
Go to settings >location > set DEVICE ONLY mode
Keep your Internet on
Place your mobile on flat surface then click on location button
Wait for 1-2min
It will detect

Gmaps not working without internet connection

Hi,
I'm currently in Thailand for holidays and had to realize that without an internet connection, Google maps don't work properly.
When I start the app I got the position immediately but it doesn't update. So the blue dot stays at the same spot until it finally turns grey.
I also had the same problem with other map apps.
Weirdly, navigation DOES work!
So, whenever I go into navigation mode I'm navigated without a hitch...
Anyone else faced the problem and knows how to resolve it?
I tried all the obvious... Checked permissions, uninstalled maps and Google play services after deleting date, logged out of my Google account, cleared cache in recovery...
Oh and by the way... Location history doesn't work. But I guess that's because it's a China rom?!
Thanks!

I dont really know what you mean with "Google Maps doesnt work properly", I only know, that you can download offline maps when you have wlan, so maybe that's a possibility?

No of course I got maps downloaded.
As described ( ) there's a problem with the GPS.
I only get a GPS fix immediately when I open Google maps (after force close). Then GPS connection is lost immediately (blue dot doesn't move and becomes grey).
Zero idea why... As navigation with Google maps works flawlessly - also in offline mode.

Oh ok, now I know what you mean
Never faced this issue. For me Maps (also in non navigation mode) works fine. Maybe something with the aggressive power saving mode from emui?

That's what I was thinking...
Have you ever tried using maps in flight mode (GPS on of course)?
Because back home (with 3g/mobile internet) maps worked fine I think.
EDIT: one more interesting thing... I realized GPS works for a short time (like 10 minutes) after I was connected to a WiFi. Then it stops working.
