Debloated & Fast & Good Battery Performance Rom - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Welcome,
My S7 started being lazy recently. Everything is much slower and the battery performance is tragic. Accu Battery says it's 64% so I think I can still use the actual battery for some time.
But... I'm currently on stock 8.1 but I was wondering if I would install some custom ROM like Lightroom or Lineage OS - would it be a good idea?
The most important would be for me to make my S7 fast and improve the battery performance. Also, the banking app & google pay should work (I will fix this with Magisk I guess).
Any ideas? Is this worth changing?

OnePlus One CM11s VS CM12.1+ AK Kernel

Hello. So I am currently running an OPO on 5.1.1 with AK kernel and I get a solid 5:30 SoT with lots of restrictions (CPU frequency). My device is rooted with TWRP installed. I ask, is it worth reverting back to CM11 on 4.4.4? I'm looking for features and battery life mainly. I might change themes and kernels. But only on CyanogenMod ROM. If CM11s is the way to go, may a good kernel be recommended to go with it? Thanks for the help.
Well at this point 11S is pretty outdated, with CM13 already being out. CMOS12 is pretty good but getting a different CM12 or CM13 based ROM is best way to go in my eyes. I have tried going back to KK just to see what it is like and I couldn't use it because I had gotten used to how Lollipop and Marshmallow are. Also I don't think the increase in battery life is worth the loss of features with CM11S.
You should stay on cm12.1 and play with your kernel setting little bit!
I'd say give MahdiROM 2.9 a shot. It's CM11 and gives me great battery life, as well as being packed full of features. Even ran tests with play services forcing my phone to stay awake 100% of the time and can still push 5-7 hours SoT depending on usage. 7+ with that fixed up. ZaneZam's boeffla kernel builds for it work extremely well and I can honestly say I prefer it for CM11 even though I'm an avid AK user.
What about Boeffla Kernel? Is it better than AK?

There is no better or best kernel. There is just a kernel that fits your preferences.
I can only say that at least with my personal usage, the battery life did not change a bit going from kitkat, over lollipop, to marshmallow.
6h SOT is the bare minimum I get on regular usage no matter what. I've seen 8h SOT on K, L and M.
Always CM11/12/12.1/13 with stock kernel and stock settings, no undervolting, underclocking, Greenify or other bull**** apps. Also I don't use apps which are known for drain like facebook.
Seeing threads like this, I often think that users drain the most battery by constantly looking for tweaks and updates to reduce battery consumption.
Alibi screenshots from an early unofficial cm13 build:
There is almost no drain over night, same on data only.

Maybe your device got powerful battery and your app list isn't huge, otherwise most people struggle to get 6 hr sot on L & M. ?

Best nougat rom for battery and stability

Share ur thoughts guys
I have tried a few Nougat ROM's ...AEX, AICP, Cosmic, DU to name a few...almost all of them have very similar battery behavior...idle drain seems to be more compared to MM ROM's....so, if battery life is your main priority...i guess you need to go back to MM or even LP...but, of course, battery behavior might vary for each person depending on the usage..
This is a duplicate question.
Its preference, I use aosp-caf now because I don't need any feature bloated ROM. Test stuff yourself every phone behaves different
Best ROM is AOSP-CAF https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/osprey-aosp-caf-7-1-1-t3576936 I have used most of Nougat ROMS and best one I FOUND CLOSER to stock Marshmellow in terms of battery life is thsi ROM. I am using thsi with nano Gapps an I have not use root an dusing it unrooted. Make suer adaptive brighness , live display and ambient display is off fro better battery .
In this ROM thread theer are extra suggestion given in Q & A post by using a Kernel Editor to save extra bettery life . I have not used that part so this may also help you more for better battery efficiency

AOD for s6

Few days back i was using linage rom on my note 3 n900. AOD was working flawless . Battery time wss super good.
AOD SCREEN was not continuous. It was like breathing on amd off in r second intervals.
It showed notifications too.
My question is. Can vmwe get such AOD working on S6 with efficiency of battery?
This app seems to be doing a fine job: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doflamingo.alwaysondisplay.amoled
Battery consumption is less severe than other similar apps!

We talk about Always On Display, the original one.
The S7 APK is working on some ROMs with a kernel adjustement.
I think we'll be able to get a fine battery life, we just need to wait someone port the AOD kernel module to the stock kernel. The stock ROM (when finely optimized) is less battery eater than other custom ROMs)

What do you call "finely optimized" ? it's interresting for me because i need a good battery life

Android P battery life on custom ROMs

As the title say, which ROM has better battery life among android P custom roms? im asking this because I did install stock android p and I faced huge battery draining on stock + heat. I don't wanna disable adaptive brightness for that either. So im wondering whether the battery life is batter on customs roms. If so please do mention the rom you have
i cant stand adaptive brightness not only does it kill battery, but it scales at the worst times and not in the correct intervals. i believe my preferences and environments change to much for the "machine learning" to do its magic.
ANYWAYS. I believe carbon rom with flash kernel gave me the best battery. i used the unified script with it, and enabled Smart pixels (on with battery saver, 75% move every 10 min) . With that setup i was able to get about 6hr SOT moderate to heavy usage.
Aside from that, any lineage based rom is going to be good on battery. A few people here swear by stock rom with a community provided kernel. Give elementalX a try on stock rom and see if it helps.

So adaptive brightness kills the battery?hmm. For me it is good . Donno about battery because i haven' used my phone disabling it. Anyway carbon rom + flash kernel give you android oreo battery? that's all i wanted.

Do custom kernels significantly increase battery life?

So I just picked up a pixel 3 and the battery life is fairly mixed but I guess I was spoiled with my previous device (Oneplus 5).
Will installing a custom kernel improve my battery life? I haven't really bothered since my Galaxy S2 which was a shambles.
If so, are there any specific kernels which aim to do this by default?
My opinion is that this is all imaginary.

A custom kernel typically gives you the option to customize the way it behaves. Increased battery life will come at the expense of performance. But even then you won't see a major difference. The biggest battery killer is poor cell service. Also, eliminate apps that run in the background, at least the ones you don't need running all the time. Screen brightness is another large battery user. Google does a pretty good job of optimizing the kernel out of the box.

They used to, quite a bit. But most of that went away with O. There just isn't that much left to optimize anymore. Now they are about extra features.
