So I'm going to switch to Verizon and I've seen a couple of times in custom rom threads that since people either ask or report that a rom isn't working on their Verizon network. Can someone tell me why? I prefer custom roms so what should I need to know going to this carrier? Thanks.

I've been asking around a lot about this and really haven't gotten anywhere. Jist of it is that when using AT&T LG G3 with a T-Mobile sim running AOSP roms i get kernel panics while using LTE. It's fine and dandy with stock based roms. I don't like stock so please don't tell me to do that. Here is a last-kmsg I've pulled after my latest kernel panic. I mainly run Androiduser00110001 cm12. EVERY AOSP rom causes it but I've found when i run his 12.11 build they come far and few. Like once or twice a day. Compared to every time i start using data otherwise. I asked androiduser00110001 what was different about that build but still haven't heard back from him don't plan on it either he's a very busy dev. It's bearable now with this build. If i flash a newer one I'm screwed. I've tried. I've tried every AOSP rom for our device. Please don't tell me to get a T-Mobile variant or get att service please. Some people here have been very dickish about it. Not going to mention any names. I'm just looking to see if anyone can look into the logs i post here. One more thing, this does not happen with att sim. Thank you.
I can't offer you much help, but I can tell you that my D850 unlocked and being used on T-Mobile doesn't have this problem. One issue I encountered with one of the cm12 based roms was it would keep losing the APNs.
I can only suggest doing an Advanced wipe in twrp on everything except your external Sd card and starting from scratch.
As the title explains I am trying out T-Mobile service on my Verizon s5, and I had previously (like an hour ago had CM13 on it) But the network connection had issues. Would flashing a custom rom made for T-Mobile maybe help alleviate network issues? Now that I am back on stock Verizon Rom it works well and I haven't experienced any of the issues I did on CM13. Anyone have any ideas of how to get off of touchwiz etc but still keep the network stuff correct?
I am would like to be able to return to CM13 so would flashing CM13 KLTE (instead of KLTEVZW) work? It mentions something about boot signing or something and that verizon users will end up having a bad time?
Also I realize that this might also considered Q&A material and for that I am sorry if this is the incorrect forum.
Read from what I posted and GeTex's reply in the link below. It's possible but it involves some work...

I recently received an AT&T G3 from a friend and would like to use it on T-Mobile, with T-Mobile's wi-fi calling enabled since I get terrible signal inside my home. The phone is currently sim locked to AT&T. I do have it rooted but that's as far as I've gone.
I have two questions:
1) what is the best way to sim unlock? does anyone recommend a service? I'd like to get this done quickly so that I can begin messing with it on T-Mobile.
2) will I be able to install a stock T-Mo ROM on the device to access T-Mo specific features/apps, and how would I go about doing that? I am familiar with flashing ZIPs and reverting back to stock, but I've never gone cross-carrier before. Does it even matter?

If the phone was fully paid off you can unlock it for free on att website.
No you cannot. You'll run into big issues and or soft brick you can only flash what your model is. You may flash a custom D851 based custom rom if that's available if someone's built it for the D850 but you cannot flash other models stock roms.

Thank you hyelton. Have you heard of any D851 based ROMs with wifi calling enabled that will work on the D850?

Hey There,
Got my self a certified Pre owned note 5 from T-mobile which has been pretty fun to play with. Now I've gotten the Rom flashing bug, however my note came completely updated to the latest "N920TUVU4EQG3" firmware. Can I still just flash the latest TWRP through ODIN and then wipe and flash whatever Rom I want from the Tmobile note 5 section? Or will this cause issues?
Am I correct in seeing that there are no custom roms or custom kernels based on the latest tmobile release "N920TUVU4EQG3" firmware? I guess what I'd really like is just to run stock custom firmware with an awesome kernel and I think id be just fine.
Also do the Kernels/Roms over in the international forums cause issues for the T-Mobile variant?
Also any suggestions for someone who hasnt touched a samsung device in a few years from a flashing/odin perspective are welcomed :]
Hi, I have the same situation, somebody who know something about, so many thanks.
Hello I'm sure this has been answered already but alot of the roms I flash will say sim not found when there's clearly a sim in the tray and I think it has to do with my service being Verizon . The only roms I've seen work with it are Xtended rom and pixel experience which I'm thankful those do but seeing the new android 12 roms I gave those a try and it's not recognizing my Verizon Sim.
With that said I imagine with Sprint radios being put in the roms it'd help Verizon work unless I'm wrong but my question is if I'm flashing these roms wrong let me know but I'm thankful for anyone making the roms Verizon compatible I love this phone and hope to play with more roms if I could I'd develop one myself just wanted to throw that out there as well lol
Kosp on a12 works with Verizon. Idk of any others yet
