Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Verizon Dual Sim - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hello Folks,
I bought a 1 week old Verizon Note 20 Ultra and discovered it wasn't dual sim even though the box has 2 IMEI's listed.
The sim tray also only has space for 1 sim card.
Does Verizon disable the second IMEI and if not, can I flash the phone to with a rom from another region to enable the dual sim which IS very important to me.

Welcome to the party man, Unless Sammy unlocks esim at some point, you are SOL. No US model supports dual sim.

Not happening.
SM-N986U and U1 devices have two IMEI for "future" eSIM functionality, but currently have the feature disabled in the modem (firmware) and in the carrier CSC config. Even if you were able to enable it on the modem side, the moment you drop your Verizon SIM card in, their CSC feature set will lock you out of any eSIM functions.

This will not work on the US version of the Note 20 Ultra. The 986U and 986U1 devices sold in the US are single SIM with eSIM(disabled). It does not have two physical SIM readers Only SIM/MicroSD.

Next time you want to fake a screen shot, make sure and update the Android security patch version to not be 6 months before the phone ever existed.
I won't go into all the other obvious inaccuracies with the rest of the screenshot.

All 986U/U1 devices have two IMEI numbers. Showing a snapshot of the box with two IMEI's is nothing new. Mine looks the same. Still doesn't support two physical SIM cards and again... Feb 2020 security update never existed on the Note 20. It was released in August of 2020.
Also, your device serial number doesn't match the serial number on the box.

If you are saying it's easy to do, please explain how you did so? I also bought a dual sim tray from aliexpress and tried to put two sim cards in the US U1 and nothing happened. If you say it's easy then please explain what you did instead of just posting pictures.

Flash combination what? Edit sim? That's very vague. I want to believe you because I want to run dual Sims as well. But unless you can be a tad more specific I don't know if I can believe you.

I believe he's referring to Multi CSC firmware, which all Samsung devices use now. They are multi carrier, not multi device. This is why you cannot flash a 986F/D firmware onto a 986U/U1 device. Different internal hardware, and in some cases, different CPU.
There is no 986U/U1 firmware that has dual SIM card capabilities. The pit error means the pit file is either for the wrong device or was edited and not properly signed before being repackaged.
Even still, you cannot enable a hardware feature when the hardware doesn't exist.
Dual SIM phones have a different physical SIM slot configuration than Single SIM/eSIM devices.
Sure... the trays are the same dimensions, but the contact pads are different.

I unpacked the image file you referenced. The pit file looks like it was pulled from an S20. I could be wrong, but I see references to it.
This is basically a debug custom ROM. Not for a daily driver. Anything you activate will not survive an upgrade.
I'm also pretty sure you cannot link to these ROMs on XDA as they're used for changing IMEI info, and removing FRP locks. Great for people who deal in stolen devices.
Good for devs to get into the software, but still questionable software.

Because it allows you to bypass FRP locks and write new IMEI info. Phone thieves love this.
Again, good for devs, but no end user should ever be running on this as a daily driver.

Huawei is known to sometimes restrict upgrade deployment by IMEI and operator so switching SIMs might trigger it.
Alternatively you can use FunkyHuawei.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using XDA Labs
I had to laugh a little, we all bought ours from the same store.
Try without your sim card in it also. Could manually flash with funkyhuawei also.
Not sure why they are limiting the update to imei, it's crap idea from them.
Probably to spread the load on their servers.
Or there are slight component differences.
I can confirm that swapping sim card will instantly detect updates to download since I was in C636B110 before. Even a dead sim card from the region that allows the update will work as well. In my case, I swap my Canadian Rogers sim with a dead HK sim and it detected updates available.

Possible to convert flash SM-G930U firmware on a SM-930P?

Hey guys!
Yesterday I got a Sprint carried S7 SM-930P as a gift. The only problem is that although it works flawlessly on my sim cards (I'm not in the US), I found out that the 930P won't get the 7.0 update. Is it possible to flash the G930U firmware without messing my phone up?

I wouldn't do it unless your absolutely sure, I wouldn't be so sure if it's for a different model number. If they were able to have the same firmware flashed Samsung would just release it, they obviously didn't because it requires extra effort, pointing towards the conclusion that the firmware is not flashable on 930P

You can flash it, i have done it myself. There are many guides over here that tell you how. All S7s in the USA are the same exact thing hardware wise, only the software (firmware) is different. Am currently running SM-G930U firmware on an SM-G930VL S7. @op the sprint s7 (SM-G930P) already has android 7 as of last 3 weeks

Hey guys. I was able to flash the sm-g930u firmware downloaded from sammobile... the problem I have now.. I have a blank csc. No product code.. and on software updates it fails to register my device. Also in settings . I have some weird options. Which some of them are repeated. I will upload screenshots.. Also there's a system UPDATE option and also software option. Which one of them fails to register and the other only works with Wi-Fi. Should I revert back to my stock sprint firmware. If so do I need to wait for a firmware with same build date or newer. Because on sammobile haven't uploaded a firmware with a build date on par with the current install. Then I would have to wait right. ? If using a older firmware it will brick or do something to my phone ?

Hey Buddy. I would recommend doing a full back up on your phone., using Smart Switch app
It saves all your numbers, message, etc..
Then proceed to flash the latest firmware for the Region or Provider. Using (CSC) not (home_csc) which means flashing the csc will wipe your phone data. Phone will be like new again. Proceed tru set up. Loggin in gmail. Proceed to update smart switch app if not found in apps. Then restore from the back up file. And good to go.

He said all S7's in the USA are the same, which is correct. Exynos/930F isn't sold in the US, only way to get one is to grey import.
You can flash any USA model's firmware onto any other USA model because they're all the same hardware.
anyone running the 930p with current update how did you get around the binary 6 lock all the 930U firmware versions I can find are binary 4 I think t-mobile is 5. Anyone got links to a firmware we can push to sprint variants that are binary 6.

You can't get around it. It is currently impossible to "downgrade" the bootloader binary version. All US carrier variants are version 4, except Sprint that is 6. You are stuck.
The only way it would ever be possible is if (a) one of the carriers, in a future software update, increases their bootloader version to 6, or (b) if someone figures out how to unlock the bootloader for the Snapdragon models.
Neither of those options is likely to happen, ever. You might get lucky and hope the G930U unlocked version has a higher number (it hasn't been released for Oreo yet), but I wouldn't bet on it.

Blame Sprint; there is really no reason for them to do what they did except keep users from switching their phone to another carrier. This isn't a Samsung thing. I don't believe you would be able to do this with any other Android phone, either (i.e. go backwards in bootloader versions).

How to downgrade from Nougat 7 to Marshmellow 6.0.1

How to downgrade from Nougat 7 to Marshmellow 6.0.1
If you want to save the thing's you currently have on your device, then do a backup using Samsung Smart-Switch.. Because everything WILL be deleted!
First open settings and go to about phone then tap 6 to 7 times on the Build Number until you see developer mode activated. Then go back to the settings list and look for Developer Options and tap it. Now look for OEM unlock and turn it on. This step is important and NEEDS to be done or you'll have problems later, not kidding!! In the same list as OEM unlock, look for, and make sure USB Debugging is on.. Make sure you have no accounts on the phone before starting this( if you're not going to enable OEM unlock) delete all of them especially Google accounts! If you don't do this you can be locked out for 72 hours! Delete any fingerprints and lock screen pins also!! (Create your backup using Samsung Smart Switch or KIES or whichever you want BEFORE deleting any accounts!! Meaning LEAVE your Google account on the phone until your backup is FINISHED and THEN you can remove it.)
On a Windows desktop download odin(unless you already have it) and download firmware number N920VVRS3BPI1 from my Android File Host here ----> N920VVRS3BPI1 onto your windows desktop. If you use any other firmware besides the one I'm posting, it may or may not work so I suggest you use this one first.
After downloading the firmware shut your phone off (Did you make your backup and save your stuff FIRST? If not DON'T start this) and then put it into download mode by holding the volume down button, the home button and the power button at the same exact time (all 3 together). When the screen turns on immediately let go of the buttons and press the volume up button to continue. At this point odin should be open on your Windows computer, connect the phone and when you see it says added on odin you need to go into options and uncheck auto reboot, you NEED to do this! This is the only thing you SHOULD be ticking in these settings, do not tick on re-partition or anything else. Then go back and tap AP and select the firmware N920VVRS3BPI1 that you downloaded (extract it 1 time on your PC first) and after it verifies (odin might crash and say it's not responding on some systems, just leave it be it will finish and work again) then tap start and let it finish. When odin finally says PASS and you see successful 1/ failed 0 then disconnect the phone and immediately press and hold the volume down button and power button at the same time and when the screen comes back on select factory reset and after its finished the phone will reboot on it's own and you're done and booting back to Marshmallow 6.0.1.
If you don't follow these steps correctly you're liable to get stuck or something else and your phone is not my responsibility if you do something wrong and it doesn't work it's because you made the conscious decision to do it likely you'll have no problem with this if you follow directions!!! I did all the testing on my own Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Verizon model before posting this and did it several times to be sure it worked correctly.
can you help me please with Note 5
can you help me please with Note 5
I have bought a Samsung note 5 from Dubai and it is working on my sim card at Egypt internationally for 5 months without problem.
I discovered that it is a Verizon modified to work internationally!!!.
However I was going to sell it and i did a factory hard reset to delete my personal data then the night mare began.
First of all the phone stuck at the set screen of accepting the terms and never reached the point where i can input my google email and password, whenever I accept the terms it get back to the first screen of language selection.
then i tired some pc applications to bypass the FRP lock but one of them made an uncomplete download which give an error and i can only enter the odin download mode nothing else ??
My question now is will your firmware N920VVRS3BPI1 solve this problem and let me use my local/international sim card line as before or shall it get me back to Verizon original firmware that is locked only to their lines ??

There is a F model it's the international one.
SM-N920F
And it says Verizon now because he flashed the firmware from my android file host account.
Personally I don't think the phones real because that F version usually means that it's a knock off from Thailand.

In Europe galaxy note 5 is N920C. F version is a Verizon version, just аltered by unknown way. N920F version never existed only as a disguised N920V. Just google it and you will see. There is no official firmware for "N920F".

In Europe galaxy note 5 is N920C. F version is a Verizon version, just аltered by unknown way. N920F version never existed only as a disguised N920V. Just google it and you will see. There is no official firmware for "N920F".

I know but as I said the F version is usually a knock off from Thailand. Personally I don't even think it's real because if the bootloader is locked then how did they get it to say F? The only way to do that is to open the phone and change the chip inside because there's no way a real Verizon Note 5 would be able to do that.

So, you think these phones N920F are not good and I should sell it??, should I look for a new genuine one ?
I feel that the phone is working very well ?

If it's working fine keep it, no need to sell it if it's doing what you need it to do.

You should download something called phone info for Samsung so you can make sure the phone is real and not a knock off.. It should have the same exact specs a real one has and if it doesn't it's probably a fake one.
the phone info app is showing a real phone data ...... but when I enter the digits #*0*# it doesn't bring the test screen and the code *#06# doesn't show the IMEI .... is this normal for the Verizon phones ????
I may give this a go. Since receiving a replacement phone fr my original overheating one and getting Nougat update, this phone has been a pain...a real pain. Making phone calls activates the external speaker. I have to tap the speaker icon 3 times to get the ear piece speaker going then when call is answered it kicks back to the external speaker. Very fun in restaurants. Using Bluetooth radio while driving....forget it. Gmail will not download automatically. I'm about to go back to my Note 2.
Sorry for hijacking this thread.

The model # shown in download mode is the model # for the motherboard in the phone.
Looks like the sm-930k does not support dual sim: https://www.phonemore.com/samsung-galaxy-s7-sm-g930k/specs/3319
Why did you flash different firmware?

Both sim slots could be used at the same time?
Sounds like the phone may have been put together using different parts.
The 930F and 930k are not the same phone.

Unfortunately, Odin will not let you cross-flash bootloaders or ROMs. Cross-flashing may even brick the phone.
I recommend returning the phone as soon as possible.

thanks mate your reply's where very helpful
I will do that .. it's my only option
I searched and it seems to me that they were installing a custom rom !
becouse I did install a custom rom and it worked fine before flashing the phone with the SM-G930K
so I will install this one :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/rom-superstoc-rom-v1-0-aroma-t3496520
Good luck. Please report back with your results.
Thanks.
- Update -
I just installed TWRP for SM-G930F :
twrp-3.2.3-0-herolte
and then I add the the custom rom :
SuperMan-Rom SM-G930F V3.0.1_O_Final
and now everything is working fine even the sound and duel sim is working too
if we recap on this phone on the back of the phone it said SM-G930FD
and in Samsung download mode is said : SM-G930K
and on the operation system I am using a custom rom that said SM-G930K
by the way I am stuck with the TWRP can I flash back only the stock bootloader ?

You can but changing only the bootloader may cause problems with the installed ROM.
You should only install bootloaders that are meant for the phone model number that is shown on the download screen. Never try to downgrade the bootloader to an earlier version because this may cause additional problems that include bricking the phone.

(HELP)SM-N986U1 change CSC to TMB - Enable ESIm

Hey Everyone,
I have unlocked SM-N986U1 with the latest update installed (Updated with latest June update). I wanted to change my CSC to TMB (T-Mobile) so as to enable ESeim support. I tried using Samkey, wasted 1 credit too. It said CSC updated but nothing happened, my carrier still shows XAA.
Can anyone please guide me on how can I change CSC to TMB?
Thanks.

These links'could help. I think you have to flash the TMB Rom which enables and support the eSim on the phone. It would help to have a Tmobile Sim around during this process but I have heard others say it is not needed.

Yes you can. My device is from Xfinity and I have done the switch to any Carrier I choose on bootloader 2. U1 to U and back is doable. The key is to use the modified Odin as specified in the guide.
"
2. Download Patched Odin here
3. Unpack/Unzip what you downloaded in Step 2 (Odin Compatible ROm) and put in a folder. Lets call the folder "Flash"
4. Run Odin, click on BL, Browse to the "Flash" folder, add BL file from there, Do the same for AP (click on AP, Add AP file, this will take some time), Same for CP (click on CP, Add CP file)
5. Do the same for CSC (click on CSC, Add the file with the name starting with Home_CSC). If you use Home_CSC your phone will not get formatted and data will remain Intact
USERDATA Stays empty.
6. Now connect USB cable to your laptop (Only laptop and not the phone)>> Turn off your phone >> Press volume up and volume down keep them pressed and plug in the USB type C into your phone.
7. You should be in download mode now, press volume up. In Odin you will see that phone is added.
8. Press start in Odin. Wait for it to finish and let the phone restart (it will happen On its own).
9. Done

Thanks for the steps. Couple of Quick Questions:
1) I used frija to download the firmware (I typed CSC: TMB in frija, as its the first time I am using it, is it the right way)
2) I also checked the version in frija with the CSC: XAA, the version is same. How can I make sure that I have downloaded the correct TMB firmware.
Thanks.

You might want to extract the files and check for differences. The Frija tool has been kind of good to me.

Any idea what to do?

So the Model is 986U/DS ? And is eSim enabled ?. That is the state you would want to be in. I understand the last XXX in the service provider software can't be changed. Mine didn't change and stayed CCT which is for xfinity but the as you can see, I have TMB/TMB, TMB/CCT. Esim is enabled and my Mint mobile (Tmobile) number is on it and I have a foreign physical Sim which is roaming on AT&T on the physical slot.
You might be close.

Also picked this nugget up from another thread
"You have to flash full tmb firmware. Not xaa tmb but 986u tmb firmware. The esim is in the user data section you'll flash"
Others have suggested you have to do a factory reset or flash the actual CSC file not the Home CSC which means you will loose DATA. I was doing this on a phone I had not setup yet so didn't mind loosing DATA. I am also assuming you have a TMB sim card in the phone because I understand that is needed so the phone can connect to Tmobile and download the carrier data files that actually changes the CSC after a clean flash.
These are just some of the things I picked up from here when doing my conversion.

Yup I used the TMB version only. The model Number changed to 986U/DS. In About phone, it shows me the IMEI of the Esim, but its greyed out.
The only thing I dont have is the T-Mobile Sim. I think thats whats causing the issue. I will arrange a t-Mobile sim and try it tomorrow.
Thanks for all the help.

Thanks. Let me try those.
Since the OP looks like problem solved, and not wanting to waste new thread, i have similar issues, can you help?
I have an S10e I recently broke (amazon renewed w/U1 FW), so I got another S10e from amazon, renewed which appears to also be U1 FW.
Except the latest, the replacement phone, the one I have now, NOONE can hear me, like all the time!!!!!!! Dead spots everywhere! Its so annoying. Its like i have a bad Mic? Or something...
This didn't happen with my identical phone, the one I had prior to this one, using identical sim.
I'm on Mint mobile, which is a TMO MVNO and currently have XAA/XAG FW running on the new S10e, the new one w/bad Mic or FW problem
It appears I am on U1 Unlocked USA firmware on latest phone ( i may have flashed FW Odin when I got this new one-to be safe- i forgot)
ALSO: BOTH renewed S10e's I've Purchased from Amazon, when lookup the IMEI, it shows as the AT&T Model. Which i understand the U/U1 FW can be swapped, BUT, both phones were advertised as U1 Models for the Hardware, so they sold me U models but they flashed with U1 FW probably to make more money. (this may seem trivial, but Samsung specifically has stated TWICE, that I couldn't Beta Test their last to major android FW's, because my phone shows as At&t on their end, and not the truly unlocked U1 model, for which the beta tests were for. And i was told when i purchased it was fully unlocked U1 ver. The phone itself even says its 970u1 in settings etc.)
Are there ANY hardware (including frequency bands) differences between U and U1 Models???
Is it somehow possible that my CSC, or FW on my phone is affecting my phone so badly that people cant hear me like 88% of all calls? Like should i flash different FW, or reflash or use different CSC??
Is it possible that if I went with a locked TMO FW (or another) that I could possibly, maybe get better reception so folks can hear me better? Or hear me more often or more frequently?
How often do mics go bad or get dirty on these? Can a mic be cleaned?
I have been in the other Note 20 flashing thread but I am stuck. Tried so many ways but can't get the TMB csc to stick, always shows only XAA. I have TMO sim card too. Not sure if they blocked it on the newer releases of the phone
Has anyone tried Samkey to do this? Heard it only takes 1 credit but smallest amount of credits to purchase on ebay is 10 and I dont feel like investing more money into this effort
