Can't change boot animation on (corvus os-surya) - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC Questions & Answers

I've been always planning to change boot animation because i have get rid from the classical miui bored boot animation once i'll get root access and install a new rom...
Well that's what i did i installed corvus os and got the root access and i searched for boot animation directory wich should be root/system/media and i was surprised that i couldn't find it . is there another directory or method for customizing the boot animation ? An answer would be great

It is in system/media for me (running ArrowOS).
Are you sure you've given your file explorer app proper root access?

And where is the media directory in the end?

In my case -- under official LOS 19.1 -- it's in /system/product/media...

[Q] Boot animation help

Ive seen a few threads about boot animations, but none of them with a simple yet detailed guide on how to install/get a new boon animation to work on my Xperia x10 2.1.
I'm no computer genius, but I'm no new to computer either, if someone could point me in the right directions I would love it, Thread I didn't find, a PM or a reply, thanks.
i just use root explorer to copy/paste the file and then set its permissions before rebooting. Just did it and it worked fine on my rooted 2.1 x10a

The Anonymous one won't even flash over, I try it and before it says completed it just stops and doesn't flash. Any chance of a fix because I really like it

I use root explorer to copy and paste it into system/media
I take it you are doing it the adb way. Haven't used that in forever.
I would recommend trying root explorer (dont know if 15min trail is already in effect)
If you use it dont forget to mount R/W prior to pasting to allow you to overwrite
Also im using CM 6.1 but it should work with most roms

You can download it from the market its not free but worth the money. Put the bootanimation.zip file on your sd then with root explorer simply copy paste it to system/media make sure mount r/w is on at the top right.
This isn't intended to be flashed via recovery

When you past the new bootanimation is it giving you an error or asking you to over write?

There's no error, it asks me to overwrite which it does. I restart and it's the same one as before.
EDIT - I overwrited it in data/local and it worked

To extend it you would need either more frames or to lower the frames per sec in the txt which would make it slower. Open the txt and you can lower the framerate from there. I think its set to 20 or 15 currently
I made these for my HTC Desire HD but they might work on the Nexus One as Well
I made these 2 boot animations based on the Co-op loading screens on Portal 2. Yes the files are large but I think they look pretty good. You can use root explorer to replace your existing one or do it via ADB but don’t ask how never have done it via ADB.
You are welcome to mod them as you see fit but.

Flashing a new boot?

How can I do this? I want to get the Android eating the Apple boot on my phone. Is it just a simple flash in CWM?

no you will need to find that boot animation (or create it using this guide) then you will need use a file explorer to navigate to system/resources/customize and change bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.,zip.bak.
then place the new boot animation you found (android eating an apple) and place it in the system/resources/cuustomize folder. reboot and you will see it.
So, I would have to re-flash the current ROM?

No, no, no.... In my sig you have all info what you need.
With RootExplorer or EStrong file manager you only replace a boot & downanimation.
And you must change a permits for the new file (rw-,r--,r--)

[Resolved] [Q] somewhat of a noobish question (thats why im here)

Im trying to install a custom boot animation on the recently-developed Cyanogenmod 9 ICS beta ROM (4.0.3) by Lupohirp (for my Optimus T) and I used ES file explorer to navigate to the either the /system/media directory or the /data/local directory and are having problems getting it to work.
Is it a ROM dependant issue why it won't show the custom boot animation?
Because when I put the bootanimation.zip file in the /system/media folder, it still defaults to the vanilla Android flashy logo.
If I try to paste it to the /data/local folder, it will come up with an error saying "bootanimation.zip paste failed!"

you need to make sure it's going in the right folder, some ROMs point to different places.
you also need to make sure you've given ES root and r/w mount privilege so it can paste stuff where you want.

It'll take me a bit to ask the creator of the rom since i need 10 posts, but I thought it could be a reason for where the ROM looks for the boot animation.
As for the root and read/write privlieges, i have set ES to request root from SuperUser and know which privileges i need to set (rw-r--r--) as informed by the creator of the boot animation.
Have you tried a boot anim utility?

No, but as soon as you posted that, i googled it and its an actually app. thats pretty cool ill try that.
Note: i tried again yesterday to get a boot animation to work and finally got it to paste into /data/local with rw-r--r-- permissions and even tried pasting it into /system/bin, but it wont work. Just boots up with the white LG logo on a black background, then to the lockscreen.
EDIT: Apparently there is no support for boot animation in this ROM for now, and its clear why it doesn't show one anymore at start up. i guess it did before, but now it doesn't.
Ill just wait to see how its updated in the future, but for now, thread resolved.

sorry for the delay...i mean do you have superuser or supersu installed correctly to obtain root on your phone? basically you need what is called "root access" to use root explorer. check the forum of the device you are using to find a guide to root or unlock ur device.
Ohh, Okay I do have super user and have access. I was able to change my reboot animation, however, was unable to change any sound animations. Can you please explain to me step by step. Again I was able to change the boot animation when it starts up but no sound. Thank you
ok lets see if i can help more...try putting the android_audio.mp3 file in the same folder as the boot animation. make sure you have read/write turned on in root explorer or it wont stick. it has to be called android_audio.mp3 or it won't work. and make sure your volume is turned up before you shut down ur phone. if that doesnt work you are going to have to find out if the rom you are using supports boot animation sounds. pm me if you need more assistance.
Thank for all the help, I did try that and did not work..ugggg,
the rom I am using is this " [15.May.2012] NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.1 (Kernel: tytung_HWA_r2.3-uniMAC)." Please give some more information it's driving me crazy.. lol
