Remap volume buttons to Camera Zoom? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi there, long time, me no post. I did try to search for this, but only found the problems folks were having with the zoom. I thought I may have read about once, but alas, it has been ages.
I am old school, running the GM1917 One Plus Pro 7 on Android 9, Renovate Ice 6 (OP7Pro6.0). Yeah, if it works, why fix it with endless updates?
So, is there a way to remap the volume buttons to camera zoom, especially only when camera app is open? Oh yeah, my camera app version is 3.8.13
Thanks in advance,
Ted

HTC Camera App for Vanilla FroYo?

Hey all,
I know last time Paul O'Brien ported HTCCamera.apk to the N1, but I haven't seen any announcement of the version from 2.2 being ported. Googling turns up nothing. Has this been accomplished?
I just moved over to CM6rc3 and am missing my tap-to-focus :-(
The latest nightly has tap-to-focus on the camera.
I just found it on 6.0.1 - you tap the settings icon from within the camera app and then scroll down to an area where you can set tap to focus, autofocus, or none.
That is one of the very few things that is keeping me from CM6... the HTC camera app allows you to tap to focus as well as auto focusing when you actually take the picture.
The CM6 camera app only allows one or the other... so if you use tap to focus and suddenly need to focus on something else, you have to tap again. And auto focus is much slower than the HTC app in my opinion.
It's a good camera app, you just can't rely on it to take a quick picture. You'll have to hope whatever you're trying to shoot sits still for a bit.

[Q] Remap volume buttons to take picture?

i really like the stock camera on the inspire but sometimes when taking a picture of myself/myself with someone its really hard to find the shutter button on a screen thats facing away from you and the "self-portrait" option doesnt work too well.
with that said is there a way to remap one of the volume buttons or possibly even the power button so that while in the camera app it can be used as a shutter button?
the app "Vignette" does this but i've noticed it takes a few seconds longer to load the camera than the stock camera app and often when i pull out my phone to snap a pic i need it to work as fast as possible. it also disables zooming for some reason. also it would be nice if there was a free alternative, im not a fan of paying for apps
i tried this apk but it gives me an error telling me my phone does not have root access, which it does.
i have the insprire 4g with stock rom sense 2.1 rooted with the ace hack kit
You could install a custom Rom that has a built in function to do this. The rom I use has this feature and is gingerbread with sense 3.5. I know there are other roms that can do this as well. No apps from the market will be able to utilize the capabilities of the sense camera. Cyanogen also has this feature but has a terrible camera so if you like taking pictures, I would stick with a custom sense Rom.

i see, thanks for the info. i still dont feel comfortable flashing rom's on my phone, im new to this whole thing and have a lot of reading to do.
i am using golauncher and a bunch of other things from the "go" series and i am very happy with the layout of the UI, so i see no real need to mess around with other roms honestly, and i dont think the want for a physical camera button is enough for me to risk messing something up

[Q] Landscape: Nav bar on Left Side?

So, I admit it, I'm a southpaw, and having the nav buttons on the right side when I'm using a landscape application that supports them (like Chrome) is counter-intuitive for me. I've searched via the google and XDA, and can only find one thread in the Nexus 10 forum that points to an AOSP ROM that seems to have the capability to change the location.
Is there anything for the M8 that offers similar functionality? I've installed ViperOneM8 and can't find anything that does this.
Thanks!

Nothing, huh? I guess one reasons we lefties die earlier than our right-handed counterparts is from feeling unloved

Marshmallow Google Maps, where are the zoom buttons?

Just noticed when using google maps on the s5 with marshmallow that there are no more zoom in and out. Making navigating with one hand extremely difficult. Is there a way to get the two little +/- zoom buttons back on the app??
Why the hell does Google do stuff like this is beyond me.
Thanks,
-Nigel

Xz2 Compact 52.0.a.3.27

Hey my phone has just get the update, is this pie already?
Ok, yes, is android P already ?
That is a LOT sooner than I expected. Great work Sony!
Yep! Just installed the update and this is Android Pie. Really fast Sony!
Let me ask can you turn off gesture control? What is the navigation like compared to vanilla pie?
I use Nova Launcher but navigation is like it was before, no gesture navigation like Pixel phones!
But damn that dark notification bar and quick controls panel is boring, all the interface is light and clear except that.
Pictures please
There it is. No specific changes at first glance. I'm going to test it on a daily use to see what's new deeper in the system.
Not all Pixel features are available.
Volume slider is a big issue, can't controle ring volume, only media!
And really not a fan of this half light/ half dark theme made in Sony... We should be able to chose which mode we want.
Not very convenient, that you can't expand the volume slider popup to do so - as before.
Also I'ld be cool about the rest, even the bulkier quick controls, if I could try/use gesture controls. But couldn't find any option to activate that.
Off Album art show in lockscreen on Android 9. I really love it???
Insert Picture error?
No gesture nav? Dang it, do you really have to have a Pixel for that?!
So glad there isnt gesture control. Sony always mods each build perfectly so we don't have to try out BS 'features'! So glad Sony is back to not being just about pretty hardware.
Anyone here who still hasn't even got the 51.1.A.11.51 update (September security patch)? For some reason my phone is still on 51.1.A.11.26 (August security patch) and just tells me it has the latest available system updates.
Bought it from amazon.es so it's not like it's my carrier that's "blocking" the updates. It also has more than 50% of space available on internal memory, so that shouldn't be the issue either.
Anyone try to test SD card speed?

Do you also have this bug, that the switches are outside of the background?

It is a known bug on Android Pie, not a Xperia specific issue.
Need help
Hello everyone, I received this update too. But since I installed it, when friends or for work call me on the phone I do not have the time to answer ?! Can anyone help me?
Thank you very much
I updated yesterday, since then the fingerprint sensor doesn't work very well. It used to be very responsive. Anyone else noticed this?
That is ugly, and doesnt look useable. As far as the other bugs go and the camera having too many 'enhancements' think its best to stick with the last version of Oreo made. And not.go any further. Its true nowadays, whats old is always better!
