Change RO.PRODUCT.MOD_DEVICE= - Xiaomi Poco X2 Questions & Answers

EXPERTS,
Please assist here. Phone is RO.PRODUCT.MOD_DEVICE=Phoenixin_in_global, I want to rename it to RO.PRODUCT.MOD_DEVICE=PHOENIX.
Phone is rooted, root explorer is available, text editor allows the change and save, but after reboot it goes back to the same name. Due to this I cannot install any roms for PHOENIX.
I'm an amateur rom installer, but I've been doing this since the days of the HTC M7 (developer edition).

Things you need to know When you first boot your korean phone set language, etc you have to deal some of korean stuff
Well you can delete the korean bloatware but you can't delete Dailer.apk(korean symbols near numbers) and Messaging.apk(80characters)
Before you read instructions you need to have root If you haven't it is based on your version

For 4.4 https://towelroot.com/ (this is v3, for some it might work but you might need to find v2 or v1) thanks to xda member geohot, then install Superuser
For 5.x http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772 thanks to Unjustified Dev, then install Superuser
Instructions
1)Download
a)FX file manager
b)FX filer manager (root addon)
2)Go to system(root)/system (do not open anything) [read Things you need to know to root your LG]
3)Remount "/system" Filesystem to R/W (if don't know how it's the lock icon)
4)Open build.prop that located in system(root)/system
5)Use edit mode (icon with paper and pencil)
6)[THIS IS BASICALLY WHY YOU ARE HERE]Change
ro.build.target_operator=TLS
ro.build.target_country=CA
(this 2 basically puts the settings, some of UI stuff to international stock)
[NOTE]
You can basically change o.build.target_operator from TLS to ATT, VZW,SPR ( if you use AT&T, Verizon,Sprint)
This will basically change your connections if used in US ro.build.target_country=US

XPOSED INSTALLATION:
Once you root it, get xposed:

Once you install it, you may get the bootanimation playing for long.
If that happens, force switch off your zenfone by pressing the power button for 8 seconds, then switch it on while pressing the volume up button.
It will enter droidboot, where you can go to the recovery.
Once in recovery,if it shows no command, press the power and volume down button together and with your index and ring finger, and then use your middle finger to press the volume up button.
Once you do that, you'll get options ,one of which will be wipe cache partition.
Do that, and then reboot your phone.Your zenfone will be good to go.
Now ,you'll be able to do whatever the hell you want with LPThemer.I changed the notification bg using that.I use gravity box for media and power tweaks.Xuimod is for a particular listview animation that I love, explore it guys. And the rest are for convenience.Screenshot below.
QUICK SETTINGS AND SYSTEMUI THEMING:
Now for the quick settings,as all of you might be wondering ,here's what I did:
Downloaded the apk of zenmaterial theme for zenfone 2
Used fx root explorer to unzip the apk.
Long click on the app and press open with using Archive Extractor.
There, you will find a folder called res,and then go to drawable nodpi folder in it,where you'll be finding 3 png images .
Get the .png image which says header_bg at the end ,and create another copy of it.
Once you do that ,rename the copy as dell_header_bg.9.png and put it in the same folder.
Then, rename the quicksettings png to asus_quicksettings_bg.9.png.
Copy all of these.
Now go to the system root present in the main menu of fx .
Go to system>priv-app>asus systemui.
There you'll find the apk.extract it in a folder in the main storage.
Go to the same location in the extracted folder,ie res,and find drawable nodpi.
Paste the 4 images there .
Overwrite the images when asked. Now,delete asus_header_bg.9.png, the thumbnail is white in color.
Rename the pasted asus_header_bg.png to asus_header_bg.9.png.
The quick settings background has been set for now.
Once you manage to do that,go back to the zenmaterial extracted folder, and find drawable_sw360dp_xhdpi.In that, start marking all the png images till you reach asus_ep_statusicon_wifisharing_on.png .
Including that, copy all the files, and paste them in the corresponding folder in the extracted Systemui, overwrite when asked.
You're almost done.
Close the folders, and make the extracted Systemui a zip archive.
Once that's done,rename it to AsusSystemUi.apk .
Copy this apk,and place it in the original position ,in system> priv app> AsusSystemUi.overwrite and reboot .

Sir i had rooted my zenfone 5 With one click method on lollypop. By root checker it shows root access. But in some apps like wifi kill and titanium backup it asks for root privileges and says no root access. Please suggest me what should i do for getting out this problem. Wifi kill app is too much necessary for me. Thanks in advance.
Is SuperSU properly configured?
That may lead to a problem.
Dont know about wifi kill but titanium can sometimes do this if u restore a backup.....please fresh install both apps and then retry...

ADVISE!
Always do backup from the ROM you have in your device.
If you have root you can use this tool, it do a backup option.
G6Sknife for windows OS

Key:
!YV1JLOGvXX4rvYreDXP1Twwh-V5O65NjmMxBH_7unUI
My device is working properly without any problem so far, some times bugs only be noticed with use and i will update this post with the ROM fixed.
Install it by your own free will, I am not responsible for any damage that may appear in the device.
This is a European ROM but, like the default one, there are same country restrictions in providers that may affect the 4G reception, etc, etc.
If you want to install, you can try to unlock these restrictions since the ROM has root.
>>>>> FIX CUST, CHANGE PROVIDER AFTER INSTALL ROM
This ROM was edited to vodafone pt but can be changed to your provider.
When you flash it, if you are not from Portuguese Vodafone it will show a bootanimation that say " Change Cust after settings than do a factory reset ".
This is how to fix it with Root Browser, that you can find in ROM, go to folder /DATA and seek the custom.bin file, open it as a text file, you will see something such as example zt/rt, now we left the folder /DATA and go to the folder /CUST , we open it and we will find a folder with the name vodafone, we will change the name of it to the first name that we saw in custom.bin in our example will is zt, use small font, now we entered the zt folder and we will find another folder that his name is pt, let's switch to the second name of our exemple which will be rt, use small font!
Go back and exit the app, do a factory reset. Done!
.
.
>>>HOW TO INSTALL ROM.
Do backup from your data with the default backup app from the phone, and you can do to a backup with TWRP from your ROM.
->You need bootloader unlocked, search in this page to how to do it ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-g6/general/huawei-ascend-g4-4g-l-11-instant-t3190617/page2 ) , and need TWRP recovery FROM THIS POST, to install TWRP boot in bootloader ( fastboot - turn off the phone, press vol - and power, release power on boot than vol when you see the fastboot screen, must say in red unlocked) and execute this file to install TWRP recovery:
TWRP2d.exe
https://mega.nz/#!T9pygRAC
KEY:
!qVujE5A7RrQeQ1dqFFuRGYtUvBLWo-PfrEAGr6QoGsI
To install ROM, copy the zip file bellow ( ROM ) to sd card, turn off the phone, press vol + and power at same time, release the power on boot than vol + when you see the blue screen from TWRP, go to install and search for the zip, than swipe to install! Done. The ROM will install the default recovery again, if you want to stay with TWRP you must flash it again.
----->Before ROM flash, IF YOU WANT to win 2205MB more for apps and user data flash this zip file with TWRP like it was a ROM, you can read the steps in the end of flash, but i will write bellow. For you understand when you see "Insufficient storage available" is not the storage where music or pictures go, that is like a sdcard, is data partition storage. What this zip do? This will take from that storage where music and pictures go to give to data partition storage. Why this is good? Every one have a external sd card for pictures and music, i think and this will let to to install more apps in phone!!!
ADVISE: This do a factory reset!!
https://mega.nz/#!OgRzmDiK
KEY:
!zPrLPGzJPQOM1eTxX_L3SX1qiUyCs7ewkx-Fz77yM3U
->After zip Flash DON´T GO OUT FROM TWRP!
Go to main menu -> WIPE ->Advanced Wipe ->Select data -> go to repair or change file system -> change file system ->EXT4 Swipe to Change -> Now you can reboot.
.
-> My ROM have a swap ON ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paging#SWAP-SPACE ).
Now the ROM!

Note:
This "MAYBE" works in same L22, L33 but not dual SIM. Only testing you can know it. The Only issue for sure that will be is the home key but can be fix it with a simple app from google play.
You can try to use this app with this ROM, for now, if you want it.
Notes:
Tap Tap App is to use light sensor to unlock the phone, open Tap Tap app, Install, go to setup sensor, select "Unlock when removing the cover", unselect "Tap Tap unlocks the screen" ( G6 don´t have this option in kernel).
Busybox, is a tool to install several Linux tools to use with Android, like cmd in Windows... if i can say like this... You can use them with terminal emulator.

Thank you, it s already installed, you did a good job, this is one of the best ROM I have used for my G535.
THanks again
Regards.
Hello,
I am really interesting in changing the ROM of my G6-4G-L11. I began to see your video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMDnP1tBsJ4&feature=youtu.be (what a shame there is no more sound!) as some things to do is not so easy to understand for me...
I have read all the topic above and you tell " Always do backup from the ROM you have in your device". I have no root access but I will try to have it with Kingo Android, is it a good option? After that, I would use your G6knife tool. I would try to follow all the steps you describe to change the ROM but I am really afraid! In case of problem, is it possible to return to the origianl ROM?
Thanks a lot
Can you please update download link for custom ROM. I have Ascend G6 l11 LTE and really want to try this. Im from Croatia, will it work for me?

LG G Flex 2 H959 Ultimate Mod Guide

(ATTENTION: Using this guide is your choice. I am not responsible if your phone gets bricked. All I'm doing is sharing my results so people can enjoy a better experience on their G Flex2, I do not know if this guide will work in anyone else's phone, I only know it worked on mine)
Hello, and welcome to my guide . I'm going to guide you through all the process I went through to install mods that will tweak your experience. The tweaks and mods used, are, as follows:
Audio Enhancement [Viper4Audio (credits to: users zhuhang and guitardedhero) Dolby Atmos (credits to: users guitardedhero and worstenbrood) and a modified mixer_paths profile (credits to: users paris07121978 and soosoolhastam)]
Camera Enhancement [modified camera_config and media_profiles (credits to: user jacksoncolocho)]
Screen And G4 Style-Tweaks [Flash-Mods (credits to: user bountyman334)]
Better Performance and Less Heat Output [modified thermal-engine-8994 (credits to: user probaina) tweaked interactive governors (credits to: users soosoolhastam and soniCron)]
Widened Scope of Phone Modifications [Xposed (credits to: user rovo89)]
Latest (Lollipop, Marshmallow on a locked bootloader is not rootable yet) Software Rooted Image (as of 5th of June, 2016) [15e rootedsystem image (credits to: user kevin3688)]
(I'm so sorry if I let anyone out, if I forgot to credit someone, please reply and I'll add him/her)
TL;DR, here's the guide:
1. (If you haven't already) Flash this image (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0UblGbOPFYBT2RERDZKcUhqcnM/view) on your phone, with this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/lg-h959-v15a-rooted-andriod-5-1-1-t3178517). Note that that flash command works for the 15e image. Now you have the latest software version.
2. Download and Install (on your phone) FlashFire, from the google store (yes, from the google store, not the old 0.24 version).
3. Download and install Stericon's busybox from the play store.
4. Download XposedInstaller.apk into your phone and also download the zip file (the one you'll flash with FlashFire), which has to be from sdk22 (that's for android 5.1.1) and from arm64 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811). Make sure to download the latest one. Now open Flashfire and flash the zip file (+ button, tap on flash zip or ota, select the zip file to the downloaded location, and uncheck mount read/write, then tap on flash). Afterwards, install the downloaded XposedInstaller.apk on your phone and open it. You are now able to use Xposed, which is a unique framework that allows you to download modules, which are "apps" that can change your phone in a lot of ways, way more than a regular app, I think. To install modules, open the XposedInstaller and... you'll figure it out.
5. Downgrade your flashfire app into the 0.24 version, by uninstalling it and installing this version instead (http://flashfireapk.com/flashfire-0.24.apk).
6. Flash the mod (same thing as before, but now there's only the auto-mount option, don't check it) provided by this thread, look for the h959 link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/development/dec-21-stock-lollipop-flex-2-ls996-t3275531). Download it (on your phone) and flash it with FlashFire (it might take a while). Now you should have a slightly better screen, G4 design changes and other tweaks to your phone.
7. Uninstall flashfire 0.24 and install the version from the google store again.
8. Download the Dolby Atmos zip file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-dolby-atmos-t3109446) and flash it with FlashFire (same thing as before, now there are more options again, uncheck mount read/write again). You should now have a dolby atmos app on your app drawer, it uses an intelligent equalizer and other cool stuff to make your audio sound better. Tweak it to your liking.
9. Download the zip file "ViperAtmos x (x represents the latest version, 5.5 as of now) sony beats edition" (link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/viperaudio-viperatmos-3-8-sq-driver-t3289075) (that "sony beats edition" is not completely necessary, so if in a future version it's not there anymore, don't worry about it). But don't flash it. Instead, copy the content of that zip file to your root folder (mount the folder as read/write with your file explorer and overwrite what's already there) (the lowest/highest folder on your phone, it's not accessible via pc, only via a root browser). The folder can also be called "system(root)" or a hashtag or just "/", don't confuse it with the folder named root that is inside "/" or the folder "system" that is also inside "/". If any files couldn't be placed, like for example audio_effects.conf, try finding that file (it's in "vendor/ect", "system/etc" and "system/vendor/etc") and mount that file read/write, now try copying and pasting again, if it doesn't work again try rebooting and trying again. Open the V4A (V4A stands for Viper4Android) app, it may say to install drivers or it might be already installed, if it says install drivers tap on ok. It will say drivers are installed, so reboot.
10. Download and install SE Linux Mode Changer (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524485), give it root permission and change the mode to permissive. Now Viper4Android and Dolby Atmos should be working together. Viper4Android is an audio tweaking tool that enhances your listening experience, and gives you a range of customization to do so. Tweak it to your liking.
11. Download the following file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3566699&d=1449390187 (delete the mixer_paths from that zip file). Also download the mixer_paths file from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/development/surround-mode-h955-t3376881), look for the latest post of the user "soosoolhastam" on that thread, the one where he uploaded his modification of the mixer_paths file. Also download the thermal-engine-8994 file from Probaina here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/thermal-throttling-hotplug-settings-t3106165), it's in a reply he made to his own thread, it's on the first page. Now that all those files are on your phone, use a root text editor (the only one that worked for me is the app QuickEdit) to copy the content of all those files, and replace the content from the files (with the same name) on the folder /etc. Don't replace the files, since that "broke" my phone, just replace the text content of those files with the content of the files you downloaded, that have the same name. Now you have unlocked 60fps on your camera, your photos are now all stored with 100% quality, your audio has a higher volume and it's more surround, and your phone should heat up less.
12. Download the file "init.qcom.post_boot_xxxxxx.zip" (again, the Xs represent whatever the latest version is, choose the biggest number, not the "original" version) from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/tweak-interactive-governor-lag-battery-t3371210). Extract the file and navigate to the folder GhostPepperVx (x=latest version) (you can choose from the other folders if you want, they have different cpu governors, if you want to try another one) then copy the file "init.qcom.post_boot" inside that folder into system/etc. Make sure your phone is not overheated (since that changes things).
13.Wipe dalvik cache with flash fire to cleanup your phone after all the flashes and stuff. There. Now your phone should be better in every way!

Sorry mate, but at least flashing the h959 rooted image won't work, certainly. And I'm not sure how the installation would go in your model. I'm really sorry, I wish I could help.

The G4 mod changes a lot of things, some things I didn't even like, like the phone dialer and the contacts design, but I'm keeping it because of the rest of the things that come with the mod. I'll list the things I noticed until now: changes (very minor) to the little menu that pops up when you slide down, it adds a button (an engine icon) to access settings faster (was it already there?), and by its side there's a button that redirects you to a menu where you can change "users", not quite sure how that works, the default calling app is completely changed, I think the design changes are from G4. When you insert headphones/usb a little menu pops up, I just checked and apparently it's a feature called "plug and pop apps", one of the apps that is shown by default is the music app. The mod adds a new app to the menu drawer, called "QTheater", not sure what it does yet. Clock app looks unchanged, gallery app has a new icon, but aside from that nothing's changed there. Quickmemo+ seems also unchanged. Music app is... A little different. Kinda uglier, in my opinion, really. Calculator's the same. Camera app is the same. OOH! Never mind, gallery app is so much better, I really can't describe well what I'm seeing here, you'll have to try it out for yourself. Calendar app just changed to color of the (orange or red?) on it to a more orange one. Email app is the same (who uses that app?). Tasks app is the same. Weather app is also the same. Voice recorder is the same. Dunno if Voice Mate app is changed, never paid attention to it. Update center app is the same. Settings app has a dramatic design change. A bunch of new features on the settings app, including a setting for the phone to read messages out loud. Holy moly so many new features in the settings app. I think that's it. Until now I haven't noticed any other differences until now. You can install a module for Xposed to get more g4 tweaks, including the option to record your calls! Sorry if I missed anything.
can it be removed/uninstalled if we do not like it?

I'm not sure but I think so. But I am sure you can always re-flash the 15e image (that'll erase all the mods, and don't worry, it won't erase any of your data, only the mods), and you can follow the guide without installing the mods you don't like, like the g4 tweaks mod.

[Guide] Enable VoWiFi on custom ROMs

First attempt at making a guide for this, so please feel free to make suggestions on how to clean it up (I feel like it doesn't lend itself well to step-by-step but you're welcome to try).
Great news everyone! (well, all three of us with T-Mobile/MetroPCS in the USA...)
I got VoWiFi to work last night on a couple custom ROMs and successfully made wifi calls. It doesn't require many pieces, but it can be complicated (not just a step-by-step) to get the required pieces into the right places.
- You need a copy of /system/priv-app/CNEService/CNEService.apk from a stock OOS install (I did it with the one from 9.0.3).
To get that, you might be looking at booting into TWRP with the other slot active or temporarily using something like @mauronofrio's fastboot install ROM from https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6-t3796665 and just flashing the system image to one slot to grab the file before restoring back to the one you had. Anyway, use caution, be sure of which slot you're on and what you're flashing to, and copy the apk from /system/system/priv-app (the path when you're booted from TWRP instead of inside the active system slot). You'll probably have to use ADB commands to push/pull the file directly to/from a computer if you already have a custom rom installed on one slot with screen lock set up, since /data will likely be encrypted and unavailable when you're booted up in TWRP with the other stock slot active.
- You need to be able to install a rando apk as a privileged system app to get this apk back into /system/priv-app/ correctly on your custom ROM.
There are ways to do this manually that involve lots of permissions and editing XML files for privileged app permissions in a couple places, but realistically you're using a custom ROM so you probably have Magisk (otherwise what the hell are you doing with custom ROMs?) so you should just use https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-terminal-app-systemizer-ui-t3585851 and pick option 3 to install it. You'll need Magisk, a terminal emulator, and some ability to type a file path to use this module.
- You'll need to make sure that your /system/build.prop file contains the line "persist.vendor.cne.feature=1" (AEX doesn't at first, XenonHD does, not sure about others).
We've got the requisite stuff in /vendor already, this just enables the ability to use it. You'll need to have root access and a file manager/text editor (Amaze is FOSS and available through F-Droid, MixPlorer through XDA Labs is also nice, or use TWRP and a text editor that knows unix line endings on your computer to copy things back & forth via MTP and remember to set permissions after, I think it's chmod 644).
Reboot, unlock, and try to make a test call. Successfully got it to work on AEX & XenonHD last night, I suspect it works for Omni and others as well.
Try some more ROMs out and report back below if it works for you too!
Now if only you could fix the Android Auto bug.
I'm totally kidding. This is awesome. Thank you!
Tested Omni and it works too; just needed the APK added/systemized, already has the correct entry in build.prop.

If it's not working in OOS, I don't know what to tell you. Might just be that the connection isn't reliable enough for it to decide to enable... but I never used OB10; I switched back to stable 9.0.3 after OB9.
Great work!
