Question Is there a Pre-installed Screen Protector on the S21+? - Samsung Galaxy S21+

I know there is the plastic protector you remove. But on JerryRig's scratch test he said there was a secondary one. I just opened the box and it doesn't look like it.

There are two screen protector pre-installed. On both side of glass, Remember to tear out this piece of foil on the back of the glass. As you can see, there's a notch there. Do not worry, grab the piece that is sticking out and tear it out holding the foil with your thumb on the back

so it that why the fingerprint feature wouldn't work after I added my screen protector!! lol

I don't think there is a pre-installed screen protector like with the S20 series. There was a piece of plastic film covering the screen of my S21 when I opened the box, but it was clearly meant to be removed right away as it started peeling up from the corners of the device almost instantly. There was a similar protective film (not a screen protector) on the back side.

There is one. Real fine. U need to peel it if you want another one.

No screen protector on the US tmobile version. There was on the note 10 plus though! Ahh.... The good old days

Unlocked US S21+ straight from Samsung, no pre-installed screen protector, sadly.

I have looked hard on my S21+ - unlocked US version, bought from Samsung USA. There is no secondary screen protector like it was on my S10 and S20. Probably because it doesn't have a curved screen anymore.
Maybe the S21 ultra comes with a protector because of it's curved screen... I'll find out when one of my friends gets his Ultra.
PS: There was a protective film also on the edges, that peeled off easy.

The version G996B that is sold in México comes with a hardened screen protector after you remove the plastic film. I hope the screen is not the same as the one that came with my S10+ that was easily scratchable

Well my exynos s21+ version came with preinstalled plastic screen protection..
@citytrader just to let u know that u will be probably disappointed... I had s20ultra for almost a year and can clearly see a lot of scratches... that is because Samsung always puts OLEOPHOBIC COATING on top of there screens and even if u have Sapphire glass it will scratch... not the glass itself but just the coating part. Really shame that after all this years they still are not able to make it right.

I have the international S21 plus Exynos and it has a pre-installed screen protector.
Big question is, has anyone removed that screen protector yet?

Well i always remove the screen protector because i dont like it... but this time i put some glass protection on top of it and now my fingerprint sensor doesnt work because of it...Beware of what ur buying. Have to try some other glasses to see which one works best. The screen itself is very beautiful after removing the plastic but u will get screen scratched way to sooner.

Purchased mine directly from samsung for Sprint in the USA. Absolutely no screen protector underneath. I've already added one to the screen and the fingerprint reader isn't affected. My uncle's S21 ultra have a protector that looks like it has an internal cutout for the finger print reader and it renders the reader completely useless.

No screen protector on my unlocked S21+ bought from Samsung. I had a ZAGG glass fusion + installed by ZAGG. Fingerprint reader is about the same as before.

snapdragon hk version sm-g9960 DOES come with preinstalled screen protector

my wife's exynos variant in Australia did come with a pre-installed screen protector as well as the usual plastic covering.. I removed the pre-installed one to install a tempered glass one on. It was a PITA to remove lol.

Suggestion for screen protection and case

Hi,
Just got a 8.4 Tab S and Samsung keyboard.
Please suggest a good screen protector (either plastic or tempered glass) that I can easily in Canada (either online or store).
I will also need a case that can fit the tablet/keyboard with a stylus holder.
Thanks in advance.
I have this glass screen protector. No complaints.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010BUKH1K
I am not sure about the case, I use the Samsung snap on flip cover and love it but it wouldn't accommodate your keyboard. As far as screen protectors go I have a Zagg and I love it, they have always been my favorite and if the protector ever gets damaged they replace it for you.
I'm using a tempered glass from Japan + flip plastic casing.
Dropped my tablet from knee height few weeks back and my screen didn't crack.
Previously I had other tablets without a tempered glass and the screen broke easily.
So a tempered glass is def a must-have for glass protection.
Happy with my Beetle case and Tempered glass protector on my Tab S 10.5..All from Amazon...and less than 30 bucks combined....
With the beetle case I removed the built in screen proctector due to the ugly rainbow effect...
Can't say enough good things about both of these items for the 8.4" Tab S
intelliARMOR tempered glass
Although you asked about one that also holds a keyboard, if you opt for one that is for the tablet only this is a great one. MoKo Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Case
I'd post links and did actually, but my post count is less than 10 so you'll have to do the leg work yourself on Amazon.
I went with the book cover hence no screen protector required
I bought the Beetle case myself yesterday, it has to ship all the way from the US to the UK, so it was not as cheap as yours, what tempered screen protector did you buy, though i am not the best as installing them.

I purchased the Anoke brand from amazon..cost me 11 bucks..
No problem installing a tempered glass, it's real easy compared to a regular wet install non tempered one..
You just peel away the adhesive side and line it up carefully and lay it on the tablet, then just touch the center of the screen, it will do the rest, you then remove any excess aIr bubbles with the included cloth, no mess , no fuss...
Can the built in screen protector be removed without damage so it can be used with the case in the future?
I have an tempered screen protector, but it came with some of the adhesive around the edge damaged and i got a refund, but it looks like this case the bezel is covered so it might not be seen, so i might be able to use it.
Thanks
John.

Yes, Just use a razor blade to loosen one end.
Its basically glued with a very light film, so it will peel off quite easily.....
But honestly when you see the ugly oily rainbow effect it has you will probably never want to put it back on...
I will see what it look like, and if it`s bad i will get an tempered glass screen protector, do you know what the weight of the beetle case, I cannot seem to find it, even on the supcase website or amazon, does it add a lot of weight? EDIT: Is is it 7oz approx 200g ???
Thanks
John.

It does add noticeable weight to the tabet but nothing that would cause any issues, for me I like the added weight, The Tablet s was so light I felt I was holding nothing and was afraid of dropping it everytime I picked it up.
Now I have something I feel comfortable caring around ..
I got my case yesterday, I cannot see any rainbow effect, did you remover the protective plastic from the inside of the screen before installing it.
Though the built in screen protector is an fingerprint magnet.

Yes,
Glad yours is working out..
Only issue I have thus far with further use is there is no kickstand on the case, but I have a portable tablet stand arriving tomorrow which should fix that problem...
Will let you know how it works out...
Ok got my Tablet portable stand from Amazon today, very sturdy and works great, has lots of different angle settings to fit your needs.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CKVOOY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
It also will hold the tablet regardless of what case you use to house it..
As you can see I have the heavy duty Beetle case and it fits perfectly....
Stand opened and ready for use.
Tablet resting on the stand with front and back views.
On stand along with the Samsung Bluetooth keyboard...
If you want a stand that will fit in your bag or pocket for quick use this is the one you want.

Does the T-mobile version come with a screen protector applied?

Does it come with one already applied to the screen or is it just a plastic wrap around the phone?
It is just thin plastic.

Mine came with a protector already applied front and rear. the plastic that was on the phone had to be taken off to put the SIM in and much to my surprise there was a screen protector already on the screen.
There's a screen protector on it under the plastic sleeve. You can tell it's there by running your hand over the front facing camera area. It's a finger print magnet tho so I took it off.

Same with mine. I didn't realize it was there until I noticed the seam around the prox sensor.
I left mine on, no problem with touch responsiveness.
So?
Is it just plastic or not. I think it is. I bought a very expensive screen protector cause of the expense of the phone and it does not fit the LG G5. It also doesn't stick down at the top where it curves. Taking this back again.

Seems like it's just cheap, generic shipping-protection plastic, yeah. I had a screen protector that shipped with my case, but it also didn't stick at the top where it curves... So, it's a good thing I was just buying for the case. Now I just have to never, ever, ever drop it on that spot at the top where it curves...
so, what about applying a tempered glass protector? On top of the existing one? or remove the existing one?
I like the existing protector - it's been quite fine IMHO, and no bubbles, very smoothly applied!

I imagine it's gonna be a pain. With that light curve at the top, you'll have to be sure you get the right protector, and even so, it might just not cover the curved part at the top. The screen protector I got wasn't glass (harder plastic) and didn't have a curve to fit, so I think it was a G4 (didn't have one, myself, just assuming it didn't have a curved top) protector that was trying to be passed off... Research, research, research first!
The protector I ordered stops just past the top edge of the 'screen, below the speaker. we'll see how that goes. It's scheduled to arrive Friday...

S10e screen protectors

Which one do you recommend for the S10e? Right now I'm still using the default protector which was applied by Samsung, but I don't really like it.
i ordered one on ebay but i have a feeling it's flat not edge to edge full cover for 10e. They use generic photoshopped stock photo for all 3 models and claim it's curved. I think 10e has 2.5D edge. Not completely flat. I'm also using the garbage thin film they included. For $800 scumsung could include high quality glass and case. I also ordered glass for rear cameras. Never seen or used one before. Not sure what to expect.
tried ESR tempered glass and MP mall tempered glass from amazon
both do not stick on side, ESR is off by like 0.75 mm because of 2.5D curve of glass, it does not stick on side. so dont waste your money on these two, i am still looking for one may be just a bit smaller than ESR.
temporarily ordering a film protector till i find a tempered glass which fits right.
I'm using the PureGear HD Clear Tempered Glass Screen Protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7S174H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_byaHCbZY5Q1N0
It only has adhesive on the edges so there is no bubbles. It is case friendly and is a decent alternative to the whitedome which remains the superior choice for the 2.5D screens.

how is touch sensitivity and does is create rainbow effect like some tempered glass with adhesive on side do?
Keep in mind aftermarket screen protecters (especially glass ones) will have problems with the fingerprint reader.

Yes, that's exactly what you are seeing. The S10e does indeed have a factory installed plastic screen protector. You can really feel it around the camera as there's a cutout for the camera. I would expect it to scratch rather quickly, plus I don't think it provides nearly as much drop protection as a tempered glass one might.
I'm following along here hoping that there does wind up being an economical tempered glass screen protector that works well and doesn't life at the edges. Seems like this will be similar to my S7, where I was never really able to find something that works and just went naked.
Thank you for the response I've just been so confused with everyone saying the S10 and S10+ have one but not the S10e. I think you're right it is just a polyurethane plastic protector. And just a heads up I tried to apply a tempered glass protector over top of it and it definitely made it hard for the edges to stick.

I had the same confusion. All of the media I've seen say the pre-installed one is only on the S10 and S10+, but if you look around the camera on the S10e, there's clearly a cutout that confirms there is a pre-installed screen protector on there. I'm still not exactly sure how to get it off. I picked around the edges a bit and nothing is coming up easily.
I'm not sure how well the edges of a tempered glass one will stick even if you took off the pre-installed one. I haven't seen any reports of an economical one that works yet. I think I'm going to be in the same boat as I am with my S7 and be forced to go without one.

Screen Protector Pre-installed?

Anyone know if there is a pre-installed screen protector like on the past models? Or is the new glass strong enough they no longer need that.

I would like to know this too. I have seen a couple of unboxing videos and they do come with a screen protector on them but those are reveiw units and there is a hole in the screen protector for the fingerprint sensor. So hopefully retail units will differ. But with the new Gorrilla glass 7 I am thinking it wont.

But glass is glass and glass will scratch. A scratch on glass like Gorilla class is a weak point adding to a chance of it breaking. After all, Glass is glass, and glass breaks.

Yes it does.
Yes it indeed comes with a screen protector.
But the quality and degree of protection it offers has not been made clear anywhere by Samsung.
I am attaching a photo of the warning paper which came with the box.
Hope that suffices for all doubters whether it really is a screen protector or just an antidust plastic cover.

Confirmed for my Hong Kong N9860. The camera cut out is the giveaway, otherwise there is almost no sign of the protector. It is extremely well fitted and feels great - smooth and clear like glass - and the fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable. And FWIW a clear TPU case was also included, nearly overlooked as I almost didn't bother opening the "paperwork" packaging.
US variant does not.
Looks like samsung usa got fed up with the customer complaints about the factory screen protectors that American customers gave them and put and end to that :good:
I remember folks on the interwebs and on here asking samsung for replacement films under warranty absolutely comical . No wonder they pulled that added feature for certain regions

I can verify the US version DOES NOT HAVE A FACTORY APPLIED SCREEN SAVER. I'd been looking to remove it if there were a factory applied screen saver like the Note10 Plus.
My Note20 Ultra has horrible screen response even with the screen sensitivity adjustment in settings on. Attempting to play games is awful especially the recently used window. I'm talking it takes 3 or more attempts actually function. The screen sensor IS picking up taps but erratically if it works at all! ?
Also has anyone else noticed their screen is actually BOWING in the center? Lift it up to a bright light while looking at the surface from an extreme angle. It's only on the screen itself, the back of the device is flawless.
I'm just curious if any else is experiencing this before I make a fool of myself trying to explain it to the world's best customer service dept. when/where there may be a language barrier. ?
Hope this helped a bit and hope to get some kind of feedback from everyday users regarding the bow in the middle of the screen.
THANKS!

Notwithstanding where on the planet you purchase your Galaxy S20 handset from, it will have a screen defender on it. While it doesn't offer a similar sort of insurance that you can get from a treated glass defender, it works admirably of protecting your showcase from dings and scratches.

Question Tempered glass

Has anyone found any good tempered glass? UK owner here.
I have the Spigen - Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus Screen Protector GLAS.tR EZ Fit (2-pack). The fingerprint reader takes a major hit with glas protector vs with naked. But it works alright if you don't have super dry fingerstips. I do have Samsung's own plastic screenprotectors waiting on the side. I hear they work well with the fingerprint reader.
I have the glas paired up with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus 5G - Black. It's a great combo.
So it's better to just stick with the TPU protectors to avoid problems with the fingerprint scanner?
You need to delete your finger prints and reregister after installing a glass screen protector otherwise it won't work very well

That's true, but still the fingerprint won't work nearly as good as without a screen protector glas. Fingertip must be a little bit moist for it to work well. If it's dry, it won't work at all. I'm tempted to remove this and test out the Samsung's own plastic screen protector.
Don't forget....

That is the way with the ultrasonic sensors, they don't like glass protectors. On the other hand, they are faster and better (most of the cases) with plastic protectors or without protection. On the other, other hand...they suck with dry fingers. My wife can't use the reader on s22 at all and for me it is lightning fast.

I also really liked the applicator kit that came with this. It has a HUGE dust remove sticker that covers the whole screen, so my application is crystal clear.

The only time it hiccups is when my fingers are either really wet or really dry - and TBH, that's no different than how the scanner worked before the screen protector was applied.
I don't know if they have Best Buy in the UK, but I picked up their brand of tempered glass. It was 2 for $15 USD. Other than a tiny bubble on the left side you can only see when the screen is all white, I'm really happy with it. It also seems to be staying pretty clean. My fingers don't smudge it up too badly. I almost paid $40 for the Zagg but decided to give the Best Buy brand a shot. So far so good.
I use the spigen ones as well and have for multiple devices over the years. I like their camera lens protectors also. Amazon prices are much cheaper than their website prices.
