Anyone know if there is a pre-installed screen protector like on the past models? Or is the new glass strong enough they no longer need that.
I am not sure, but I just ordered the Whitestone Dome tempered glass protector for the Note 20 Ultra.... it will get here before the phone does.

I would like to know this too. I have seen a couple of unboxing videos and they do come with a screen protector on them but those are reveiw units and there is a hole in the screen protector for the fingerprint sensor. So hopefully retail units will differ. But with the new Gorrilla glass 7 I am thinking it wont.

Yes it has one on the store models
Which past models came with a screen protector?
It does not have screen protection as it is on Note10 +. It is just a wrapping foil because it has Gorilla Glass Victus which is very resistant to scratches.

But glass is glass and glass will scratch. A scratch on glass like Gorilla class is a weak point adding to a chance of it breaking. After all, Glass is glass, and glass breaks.

Only takes few grains of sand in your pocket to scratch that glass
Yes it does.
Yes it indeed comes with a screen protector.
But the quality and degree of protection it offers has not been made clear anywhere by Samsung.
I am attaching a photo of the warning paper which came with the box.
Hope that suffices for all doubters whether it really is a screen protector or just an antidust plastic cover.

Confirmed for my Hong Kong N9860. The camera cut out is the giveaway, otherwise there is almost no sign of the protector. It is extremely well fitted and feels great - smooth and clear like glass - and the fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable. And FWIW a clear TPU case was also included, nearly overlooked as I almost didn't bother opening the "paperwork" packaging.
US variant does not.
Looks like samsung usa got fed up with the customer complaints about the factory screen protectors that American customers gave them and put and end to that :good:
I remember folks on the interwebs and on here asking samsung for replacement films under warranty absolutely comical . No wonder they pulled that added feature for certain regions

I can verify the US version DOES NOT HAVE A FACTORY APPLIED SCREEN SAVER. I'd been looking to remove it if there were a factory applied screen saver like the Note10 Plus.
My Note20 Ultra has horrible screen response even with the screen sensitivity adjustment in settings on. Attempting to play games is awful especially the recently used window. I'm talking it takes 3 or more attempts actually function. The screen sensor IS picking up taps but erratically if it works at all! ?
Also has anyone else noticed their screen is actually BOWING in the center? Lift it up to a bright light while looking at the surface from an extreme angle. It's only on the screen itself, the back of the device is flawless.
I'm just curious if any else is experiencing this before I make a fool of myself trying to explain it to the world's best customer service dept. when/where there may be a language barrier. ?
Hope this helped a bit and hope to get some kind of feedback from everyday users regarding the bow in the middle of the screen.
THANKS!
UK, from Samsung direct, DOES have a screen protector. No issues so far, My Note 10+ did, I thought maybe my 9 did too but my memory isn't what it was.
Personal experience on 3 phones - don't buy Whitestone - fingerprint sensor wouldn't work. Paid YouTubers say it does 100%, many on here do too, but never for me and it's an expensive fail.

My note 9 didn't have any. But I broke the glas on it and had it repaired and then it came with preinstalled screen protector.
Notwithstanding where on the planet you purchase your Galaxy S20 handset from, it will have a screen defender on it. While it doesn't offer a similar sort of insurance that you can get from a treated glass defender, it works admirably of protecting your showcase from dings and scratches.
Got my N986B Note 20 ultra 5G in France with my carrier SFR and it got screen protector pre-installed

I've been thinking ahead to when I'll get my Nex (hopefully soon) and I'm remembering all the problems I had with my Mi Mix trying to get a decent screen protector.
The glass ones never covered the full screen and the film ones always peeled off because of the bezelless nature of the design.
In the end, after many false starts, I tried a liquid screen protector and it's been brilliant.
After a number of months there are no signs of scratches on the screen, even though the ceramic back (which is supposed to be more scratch resistant) has noticeable marks.
This is the particular brand I used but I'm sure there are other similar quality options out there.
Just figured you'd all want to know this is an option and a good one at that.

I'm a fan of the liquid screen protectors as well.
I think I take better care of my phones than the average person, based on casual observations,& don't feel the need for a film or TGSP.
Regardless, it's difficult to prove a negative, but, in my usage, I've never had a scratch after applying one of the coatings. No, they don't last forever, as neither do screen protectors made of film or glass.
One advantage of the liquid sealers is you don't have to deal with dirt/grit collecting along the edges of a typical protector.
This phone, the NEX, ships with a pre-installed screen protector (& a clear skin on the back, a very nice touch). As soon as the film on the display side begins to show signs of peeling/collecting dirt on the edges, it's coming right off & I'll be applying one of the many sealers available, this time being the brand Liquid Nano 9H.

Save your money. This stuff is nearly worthless. (Read the 1star reviews...). It does nothing to protect against serious scratches or cracked screens. Get a decent screen protector and a case if you care about your phone.

To each their own, I can only offer up an opinion based on my personal experience.
And saying 'Get a decent screen protector', whilst a valid sentiment, isn't always possible.
As I mentioned, there's a total lack of quality accessories for the original Mi Mix and Xiaomi are definitely a more established brand than Vivo, so it could easily prove to be more of a challenge for the Nex.

If it is for Wet Protectors, I will definitely go for GadgetShieldz. Having tried many screen protectors, my top pick now would be of Gadgetshieldz. It covers almost the whole body, back and sides as well. Just received the full body protectors a couple of days back and seem to be perfect. The self-healing technology of the films, as claimed, will take even the harshest scratches, though I haven't tested yet. The thin film is virtually invisible when applied on my new device.

I haven't received it yet. And it's not a tempered glass. It's a flexible plastic one.
I received it. Firstly, the disappointing part was, there was no solution. But I've had a spare one from other protector. I used it. The sad part is, the back protector doesn't stick well throughout. There are some small bubbles that I am hoping will disappear after 24 hours. The touch is nice, but it's a film, not a tempered glass.

Did you have any issues with the spigen? For me the sides aren't adhering properly.
With your scratches on the glass, the p20 pro does have gorilla glass and all gorilla glass phones out there can get scratches especially with bits of sand and random stuff in your pocket.

I've been using the Nilliken glass screen protector. Tried the other crap that doesn't adhere to the edges. The Nilliken is only 0.2 mm thick which probably helps adhering near the edges.
Used it on my P10+ and my wife's iPhone SE and great oleophobic feature which is part of the Japanese glass and not just a coating.
Installed it on my P20 off centre and it still adheres to the edges. Worth the $25.
Nillkin is smaller than the screen. Actualy a lot smaller than the actual screen. Aestheticaly is crap. Functionaly is just like all other protectors.

I bought one from Spigen, dont know that firm but im very happy. they also have a great concept on how to get the glass on the phone much easier by having sort of "handles" on the protective plastic on the glass. Plus i bought the case too, perfect fit, very robust, and works like a charm with the tempered glass

I disagree.... Not a lot smaller than the screen... Goes right up to curved edge. Wife has one on her iPhone for 2 yrs and oleophobic feature is still great.
Aestheticaly is better than most crap. Doubt if you have really tried one.
I have tried two on my p20 pro and one on my oneplus 3. Both with the same problem. They were marginally fitting on the actual screen. (i don't mean the black border of the screen. Not even close. I mean the actual screen) in general I'm a very protective user for all of my phones and even when I change for a new model, the last one is in perfect factory condition. After several amoled models that I've owned, (Samsung, huawei and oneplus) due to the curved edges of those screens, I have come to a conclusion.... I never use a tempered glass anymore. In worst case I've used iq shield wet membrane and never had any problems. In fact let's remember what everyone was doing when tempered glass wasn't around and we only had gorilla glass. I believe it's an artificialy created need, and after all these years I even dought even the idea behind the application of tempered glass. When a phone drops, if the forces are applied in that way and strength that a screen would crack it would crack. No extra glass will save you. Actually the way these glasses are applied on the screen can't prevent that. As far as scratches concerned, if gorrila glass can save you, then it's the same for every temp glass. If the one can't, so it's the other. (the only benefit it's that the temp glass you can easily change it). gorilla glass is a well documented patent with thousands of applications in daily life. I dought the same for all those generic glasses out in the market. (as for the well established companies like nilkin or spiegen etc etc, as I told above I highly dought its effectiveness for the reason I explained above.)
Its only my personal opinion from personal experience with various models from Samsung, oneplus and huawei. And for the last 10 years it served me very well.

First... I installed the Nillkin on my P20, not the Pro. It fits perfect and covers the black edges like it did on my P10+ and the SE. Can't speak for the Pro, but I doubt that Nillkin would design that one smaller!!
Second... US Corning makes Gorilla glass and Japan AGC makes Dragontrail, both great screen glasses. On both the oleophobic feature is part of the vapour deposition hardening process. Don't know what Huawei uses on the P20 series. I do know that my P20 screen is more scratch resistance and has a better oleophobic feature than my previous P10+.
Third... Nillkin uses AGC glass for their screen protectors. And I believe, the only one that is 0.2 thin. And I can speak for the oleophobic feature that doesn't wear off in a couple of months like the cheaper crap that uses a coating.
You obviously don't like or believe in glass screen protectors, that's OK, but please don't lump them all together. Most glass screen protectors are installed for scratch protection and some are way better than others.

When I was surfing through You TUBE for P20 glass screen protectors, I did see one for the Pro that covered the curved edges, but instead of a thin strip of edge adhesive, it had the silicone covering the whole glass. I watched the typical spread when centre pressed.
I would've got that one for the P20, but couldn't find it again. Maybe someone knows where to find it.
Are you gong to buy a Tempered glass screen protector for your S10? First screen protector that comes into mind is the Whitestone Dome but this one is going to be very expansive. What screen protector are you going to use?
If you really want a great protector that's the one I would buy...I think you get two in package... I'm planning on not installing one of the phone comes with pre installed one ...if. I do get one it will be White Dome

Lol, the pre-installed screen protectors that you are talking about is a joke. These cheap ones get scratched up in no time. Tempered Glasses don't work with the Ultrasonic Fingerprint scanner on the S10 phones. The ones that work (white stone) are not available until 3/22 and don't ship outside US.
I got this Gadgetshieldz one as these kind of self healing TPU screen protectors are the ones that are compatible with the S10 series phones currently. Like the Zagg invisible shield. MKBHD even did a test on these. And for the 10$, I am getting a screen protector, a protector for the back, sides and camera lens. Might change these once something reasonable is available.

Whitestone has been proven to work with the security on the phone. Pricey. 50 bucks but you get 2 glass shields in case you do break one
I HIGHLY recommend the Whitestone protectors. The adhesive makes them SUBSTANTIALLY more chip/crack resistant and the touch sensitivity is light years ahead of other protectors (like ZAGG). It was my go-to on Note and now S10+.
I am a minimalist and finally found a case that's thin but also adds SOME protection. TORRAS on Amazon. The hard plastic has a matte finish, amazing touch and feel but little protection. The silicone option is thin, has ridges to protect camera and screen but slides in pants and pockets easily. It DOES offer drop protection relatively.
hey guys came across this,
cheap alternative to whitestone.
I think its only for aus. not sure.

Whitestone dome glass protector disables my finger print sensor effectively. My hit rates are less than 50% on the scanner. I've tried everything to get this to work such as re-registering prints, enable touch sensitivity, updating software. My install was perfect since I've had experience with this product before. I really wanted this to work, further their customer support is impossible to get ahold of.
I have 1 Whitestone TGSP but I'm not installing it until I get the two pack. I have never installed this before so I want the extra ones to use in case I goof the first install, and then (hopefully) have a spare if I crack the 2nd one.

Those are YouTube videos that show it works on a single unlock. I'm not disputing that it never works, it just doesn't work adequately enough. A youtuber showing a single unlock does not mean it works. When compared to a physical sensor on prior galaxy devices the success rate is likely almost 100%. The whitedome stone glass makes it incredibly harder to get an unlock on the s10 (less than 50% success for me). See the amazon reviews, there are numerous reviews claiming issues with this glass protector. Further you can find additional evidence of the issues on subreddit for galaxys10.
I understand that some may not be installing this correctly, but I know i have since I've done this numerous times. As stated above, i've re-registered finger prints, updated software and enabled touch sensitivity. I don't think this is a dud either since there are numerous reports of it not working properly.

Believe me when I say that I really wanted this to work because I love glass protectors. But it just simply didn't after everything I've tried.
Not sure I understand the light sensitivity you are referring to but this is an ultra sonic finger print reader which basically uses sound waves that bounce off your finger to map your prints. I think the issue is that these sound waves are having issues propagating through the glass protectors/loca glue, although they seem to have no issue going through the gorilla glass.
Which one do you recommend for the S10e? Right now I'm still using the default protector which was applied by Samsung, but I don't really like it.
i ordered one on ebay but i have a feeling it's flat not edge to edge full cover for 10e. They use generic photoshopped stock photo for all 3 models and claim it's curved. I think 10e has 2.5D edge. Not completely flat. I'm also using the garbage thin film they included. For $800 scumsung could include high quality glass and case. I also ordered glass for rear cameras. Never seen or used one before. Not sure what to expect.
tried ESR tempered glass and MP mall tempered glass from amazon
both do not stick on side, ESR is off by like 0.75 mm because of 2.5D curve of glass, it does not stick on side. so dont waste your money on these two, i am still looking for one may be just a bit smaller than ESR.
temporarily ordering a film protector till i find a tempered glass which fits right.
I'm using the PureGear HD Clear Tempered Glass Screen Protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7S174H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_byaHCbZY5Q1N0
It only has adhesive on the edges so there is no bubbles. It is case friendly and is a decent alternative to the whitedome which remains the superior choice for the 2.5D screens.

how is touch sensitivity and does is create rainbow effect like some tempered glass with adhesive on side do?
Keep in mind aftermarket screen protecters (especially glass ones) will have problems with the fingerprint reader.
Im using the samsung one for now until some testing and revising is done
No rainbow effect and if you increase touch sensitivity in the settings it works great. I have no real complaints.
which non-glass protector do you guys recommend?

I am interested as well, tried both ESR screen protectors and they were both too small for the screen. doesn't look like there is a clear favorite right now

That's only for bigger models. S10E finger scanner is on the side.

Why is there a lip or Ridge around perimeter of screen of galaxy s10e
Does anybody know why there is a lip or Ridge around the edges of Galaxy S10e screen it's almost looks like a screen protector has been applied from the factory

Yes, that's exactly what you are seeing. The S10e does indeed have a factory installed plastic screen protector. You can really feel it around the camera as there's a cutout for the camera. I would expect it to scratch rather quickly, plus I don't think it provides nearly as much drop protection as a tempered glass one might.
I'm following along here hoping that there does wind up being an economical tempered glass screen protector that works well and doesn't life at the edges. Seems like this will be similar to my S7, where I was never really able to find something that works and just went naked.
Thank you for the response I've just been so confused with everyone saying the S10 and S10+ have one but not the S10e. I think you're right it is just a polyurethane plastic protector. And just a heads up I tried to apply a tempered glass protector over top of it and it definitely made it hard for the edges to stick.

I had the same confusion. All of the media I've seen say the pre-installed one is only on the S10 and S10+, but if you look around the camera on the S10e, there's clearly a cutout that confirms there is a pre-installed screen protector on there. I'm still not exactly sure how to get it off. I picked around the edges a bit and nothing is coming up easily.
I'm not sure how well the edges of a tempered glass one will stick even if you took off the pre-installed one. I haven't seen any reports of an economical one that works yet. I think I'm going to be in the same boat as I am with my S7 and be forced to go without one.

If anyone looking for decent glass. This brand is good to go, but expensive. Might wait out a little.

my factory installed screen protector is starting to show some scratches and wear. Getting near desperate trying to find a good affordable screen protector for the s10e
I ordered an Alinsea glass protector from amazon, sounds like a knock off of a Whitestone from their description. It doesn't have a cut out for the front facing camera, which is great, as a cut out just seems to collect pocket lint. I have not received it yet.

I got one. First time doing an install of this type and given the barebones installation tools provided, it was above average difficultly. First one ended up with bubbles.
Noticed Samsung is selling an official S22 Ultra screen Protector. I don't remember them ever selling an official screen protector before. Are they trying to tell us the screen isn't very scratch resistant?

It used to come preinstalled. Getting really tired of this nickeling and diming. Started with the Headphones, the USB-C adapter and now not even a damn battery while the cost of the phone minus the headphone jack and SD slot keeps going up...

From what I have seen, it depends on the region. Here in Czech Republic, no samsung phone ever came preinstalled with a screen protector.
Is it a dry or wet application? I've always liked the wet application protectors like Skinomi.
The S9-S21 devices came with a screen protector preinstalled. From what I've seen and heard, the S22 does not come with one.

Yeah, apparently this was remove to reduce 'carbon footprint' imo is just a lame excuse to keep removing stuff that should be included, like the charger.
Any good wet install screen protectors?

This.
Coincidence or not, since S10 (I skipped S9) the oleophobic coating on screen lasted much less then S7 and S8. I stayed like 2 to 3 months with Preinstalled screen protector + 3 months with acceptable oleophobic coating on the screen, while in S8 the oleophobic coating lasted more than 1 year. Let's see if my theory of preinstalled screen protector shorten the lifespan of oleophobic coating now with S22.

Is that a TPU protector? I think the samsung one is PET which I much prefer.

Spigen Neoflex is a bliss to instal and fairly durable. I'd say they've done something to the composition compared to Neoflex dedicated for n20u and n8 which I've used in the past

yes it's TPU, but is the best TPU I have ever had on any device (I usually prefer glass, but you know, curved screen), PET is quite old tech really - it's what all the old fashioned thick plastic screen protectors used to be made from - whilst the tech is better now, it's still technically the lowest grade out of PET, TPU and Glass.

Watched a video that didn't make it look to good but I will be getting a spigen case so it makes sense, should at least be compatible with their cases.
Am Using this one is the best for me by so far. Watch the videos for installation.

With a case on clear the display, collect the dust with a sticker, spray included liquid, press bubbles. Enjoy. If misaligned reapply
