Poco X3 good replacement for my Essential PH-1? - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC Questions & Answers

I can get a Poco X3 6gb ram 128gb version for around $200. Is it worth it now that there are custom roms and Gcam available for it?

On this value for now .. Poco X3 is one of the best devices in that range, And the development on it fast and many recognize developers working on it.
for now it has Gcam ports, Three kernels and more than 10 custom roms

Thanks for the reply, Looking at your signature it looks like you have been through a lot phones is the past, how are you liking the X3 compared to some of the latest ones you had?

Xiaomi mi4i?

Hello guys, I used to have an lg g2, xiaomi mi4c, xiaomi mi4 3gb ram, note 3 pro and at the moment I am in a budjet and have a decent deal on a second hand mi4i.
I would like to ask if I am going to be dissapointed from the phone in terms of speed and functionability compared to the phones I had. I can see that he mi4i has very good unofficial support which is good, because I will for sure install cyanogenmod based roms on it and would not use miui. I just want a fast phone that can keep up in terms of speed with the phones I had until now. The other option I have is buying again a new mi4c or mi4 2gb ram

Hello
Ya it's a good choice to not use a "miui" rom...
But compared to your last device
Mi4i is below all of them...
Redmi note 3 or mi4c is great at their soc
Redmi note 3 have VoLTE , mi4i doesn't have VoLTE
But , this is your decision...

Question Closest device for CustomROM devs (SnapD. 860, Adreno 640, UFS 3.1, IMX582, etc.)

I have no experience what is important regarding device tree and development. From first guess Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC should be the closest and after 6 months already has a lot of ROMs (52 threads).
The devices beside the case and probably screen and battery differ a lot (X3 NFC vs X3 Pro):
SnapD. 732G vs 860, Adreno 618 vs 640, UFS 2.1 vs 3.1
Main Cam Exmor RS IMX682 vs IMX582, Selfie Unknown CMOS vs S5K3T2
So I wonder if the X3 NFC ROM development is of any additional use for the X3 Pro?

No, Qualcomm 8XX uses a different development platform than 7XX
The good thing is that my new script that I developed on the Poco X3 NFC should also work well on the new X3 Pro. It allows to remove the read-only lock so you can fully debloat and customize your device. I wonder if any X3 Pro users have tried it yet?
I mean, the phone is cheap, and poco does have generally good rom support. We just have to wait for TWRP

I concur... I'm just waiting on LineageOS support after a compatible version of TWRP becomes available
Well, It should has a lot of roms for 2 reasons :
- first mid-range device with flagship cpu & gpu
- lower cost
so why not ? it's good spot for developers

I agree, but most people bought Poco X3 NFC and it created more hype than Poco X3 Pro imo, so I think that It will have good development, but not as Poco X3. Poco X3 is currently the best Xiaomi device regarding ROM development activity imo.
But If I haven't bought Poco X3 NFC, I would buy the Pro version for sure.

They just buildbot and most of them get rejected from official. What matters is less quantity and better quality.
In the Telegram Poco X3 Pro Updates group I saw a Pixel 5 Port done, so this seems to be the first Custom ROM at least what I saw.

Question Alternatives to Realme GT Neo 3

Hi everyone,
I chose this phone because I wanted high performance and awesome features at the lowest price. It is a capable device indeed in hardware perspective, but it has no future in custom ROM development. Originally, I said It doesn't matter, who is the manufacturer, performance and features matter, because I can install a likable custom ROM. I didn't know that MediaTek SoCs are out of question if it comes to custom ROMs. So I decided to sell it. I didn't use it for anything other than trying out the camera, speakers, and updating the system.
I want to buy a phone, which has the same capabilities, but custom ROMs are available for it, so it is most likely built on a Snapdragon SoC. My current candidate is OnePlus 9 Pro 8/128 GB, which is more expensive, but I will pay the price of good features now. I have the 12/256 GB version of GT Neo 3, so it would be a few steps backwards IMHO, but I'm still searching for other alternatives.
It feels bad to sell my first phone with a USB Type-C port. I moved back to my good-old Motorola G5 Plus with HavocOS, because the factory OS of GT Neo 3 makes me mad.
What are your thoughts on it? What phone do you recommend?
Xiaomi Poco F4 gt is good option
Maybe try to look for your preferred custom rom and then pick candidates from their supported devices.
Not all snadragon soc devices have a bunch of custom roms.
All i know though is that Xiaomi has a lot of devices with custom rom support.
Maybe their older devices.
Xiaomi 12X or Xiaomi 12 or Redmi k50 gaming (aka Poco F4 GT)

U'r quite funny; why won't u do "research" before buying a new phone if u really need to "customize" like OS, camera, etc!
Oneplus, Xiaomi both are great because their bootloader can "unlockable" thus can customize to play with!
Im using Redmi K40 pro+ (MI11i/11X pro) which is already bootloader unlock and running "PE" OS and rooted, u can think about it becasue Redmi is even more price friendly than Oneplus wth same hardware~!
I only had phones with Snapdragon Socks before, there always were custom ROMs for them, it was natural. I didn't know that the case is different for MediaTek. I didn't think that the SoC manufacturer makes a difference in this question, so I didn't feel the need for research on modding and community support, especially when the phone wasn't even released on the global market.
I started using the phone BTW, global ROM has been installed and rooted.
The only vital deficiency of this phone is the lack of the 3.5mm jack port.
I bought 2 different adapters (USB-C to jack, and USB-C to jack + USB-C port for charging), but none of them work well. The first drops the signal every 2-40 seconds, the latter's jack port does the same + when charger is connected to it too, the phone switches back to it's speakers, and like the jack port didn't exist.
Good quality Bluetooth headsets are pricey, so I still use my Motorola for listening to music.

Question Is the POCO X4 Pro 5G (veux) not worth a recommendation?

We have a bunch of POCO X3 NFC (surya) running ArrowOS and I'm just thinking of buying two POCO X4 Pro 5G (veux), because it's Black Friday discounted and there is an official A13 version of ArrowOS for it, though there doesn't seem to be going on much here and there is also no ArrowOS thread in the "Development" section (why?).
So with the intention of installing ArrowOS 13 VANILLA right from the start, is the POCO X4 Pro 5G (veux) a recommendation or not (and if not, what else better to be used with ArrowOS 13)?
I am using ArrowOS and have no issues. Battery life is the same as stock without bloated apps.
i dont think this veux is a good phone to have, lot of downgrade from its predecessor unless youre desperately lookin for 5G phone.

What I meant The predecessor was the Redmi Note 10 Pro (sweet),
Here's my gripe :
1. at least on Indonesian miui flavor I can't do longer exposure than 15sec on the main lens unlike like my X3 Pro before (30 secs) ,
2. I'm sure the camera quality are at least similar with my X3 Pro (Vayu) but sometimes PEUX is better,
3. I could no longer play my library of ripped hdr Blu ray with HW acceleration on this phone or watch YouTube HDR videos.
PS : only bought this phone cause my vayu just died & I think the non pro X3 (Surya) with the 64mp Sony sensor will be a better shooter.
I recommend! veux is buttersmooth + safe with arrowos a13!
here the link: https://www.arrowos.net/download
click on poco on the sidebar, there you'll find veux!

Choosing new Phone. Poco F4 vs Redmi Note 12 Pro

Hey guys,
I'm currently looking for a new phone and I've been wondering between Redmi Note 12 Pro and the Poco F4. What are your thoughts on both phones and which one would you recommend. So far I think I like the Redmi design more, but I also quite like the better performance and Android 13 on the Poco.
Neither, since none is listed at
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/#xiaomi
Other than that I would never again go for anything Mediatek, like the Note 12 Pro:
https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=11955&idPhone2=11627
With qualcomm there is at least a chance that some devs will pick up, after manufacturer has abandoned it.
