Disable Forced Encryption (DFE) - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Questions & Ans

Hey guys,
I am trying to find how to disable the forced encryption for our beloved phone. I've read that in some threads that they used it but no download link was given. It always bothers me that TWRP always ask for a password and the PIN does not work. I always have to switch to pattern to decrypt the data. Currently using the chinese TWRP and latest EU weekly (1.21). Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

TWRP won't ask for password if you remove the PIN before entering TWRP. This is what I do.

I do that too, It's just that I keep forgetting it and need to reboot to disable it. And sometimes I can't reboot in to system becomes firmware is corrupted and I need to reflash a ROM. Also, I prefer to use PIN as the pattern is annoying to use. Thanks for your reply!

I want to try some custom roms on my oneplus 3 but can't do so as twrp is asking for a password to mount my internal storage. I don't know anything about any password because I never set one.
can somebody please help me. this is very irritating

I'm trying to remember how I got past this. Here's a couple tips that might help. If they don't work, then maybe someone who knows better will chime in.
1. Make sure you have the latest version of TWRP installed.
2. Try "default_password" without the quotes.
3. Try changing your settings to add a password and require a password at boot. Reboot the device into system, entering the password. Then reboot into Recovery and try that password.
4. Wait for someone smarter than me. [emoji6]

Tried all of this. Nothing helped.

Try this
Boot into ROM, create a 4 digit pin screen lock, then use flashify to flash recovery, then boot into new recovery and use pin.
Boom, you have decrypted recovery. You can boot back into your rom and change the passcode to "none" and twrp won't ask for a pin.
This is because when twrp initially boots it sees a "default_password" but if you go into twrp and try to type default password it will not work because there isn't a default password it just sees there is one except its unlisted it's kind of a double negative but a way around that is to create a password

TWRP Decryption password after 2/2018 update

I'm on a Pixel 2 and I sideloaded the February 2018 security update. I tried to install Magisk again by using "fastboot boot twrp-image.img". I've tried all the versions of TWRP available on their site (twrp.me)
I get into TWRP and enter in my pin to decrypt the phone, which I've always used. TWRP says incorrect password. This is the first time I've ever gotten this.
Anybody else having the same issue, or tips to fix? Thanks!
Yes, it's been mentioned a few times. Simply remove the password lock from your phone before booting into recovery, then add your password back after you're done flashing.

Thank you for this. I did quite a bit of searching last night and this morning but couldn't find anything on it. This makes sense and I'll give a try when I get home.

I removed the pin and when I went to fastboot boot twrp.img, it went right through without prompting for a password in TWRP.
You may need to reboot first, after the pin removal

After rooting OnePlus 6 on Android 9.0.5 can I use fingerprint?

If I already have a pin and use that primarily, however I want to use the fingerprint scanner to make life easier. Will I have to take off the fingerprint each time I boot into recovery mode and use TWRP? Or can I use the pin and fingerprint together with no problems?
Any feedback would be much appreciated thank you.
You can keep both, however you can unlock TWRP only by PIN.
You can. You'll still need your PIN to decrypt /data in TWRP. And why are you still running 9.0.5? We're on 9.0.8 now.

[HELP] Lost my rooted phone can it be decrypted by the thief?

Hey fellas,
Someone stole my One plus 7 Pro.
It was rooted and had TWRP and Magisk 19.x ( latest subversion before 20.x dropped). I had a passcode and fingerprint set up on my phone. It was stolen at a technical convention for students. Assuming the thief has knowledge about Android can my phone's encryption be broken to give access to my files?
Any input is appreciated.
TLDR;
>Phone got stolen at a technical convention
>Thief might have knowledge of Android
>Running Stable Android 9 latest firmware before Stable 10.0.1
>Running Magisk 19.x (Latest before 20.x dropped)
>Running TWRP 3.3.1.x
My concern, Can it be hacked/cracked to give access to the storage inside?
Thanks in advance
this is the problem of unlocked boot loader.

Thanks for the reply.
What are you implying?
Is it easy to crack through it to get the files? TWRP requires the pin to be able to boot.
Please give in more input if possible

Unless your passcode is simple and easy to guess, they won't be able to decrypt the data using any publicly known ways.
Of course, having the bootloader locked would offer a bit more protection against the thief wiping and using the phone themselves, but even in that case there is no practical way to access your data before it gets wiped.
You should be somewhat safe...

My passcode is fairly complex. Thanks for the reassurance.:good:

He/she still wouldn't be able to use it after a wipe because of FRP, though, right?

there;s ways to bypass that, I saw a few videos of some people doing that
If you had your data encrypted as you state, I don't think anyone would even take the trouble that comes with brute forcing such encryption. He will probably just wipe it.
They may just wipe it and use it, u can black list it through you carrier
Check android device manager and see if you can locate it and remote wipe it

Can't enter recovery / decrypt Oneplus 6 after beta update to 10

Hi guys,
As always directly after an update I wanted to clear the cache since it prevents a lot of problems and it comforts my update OCD. But after the latest beta update I can't seem to enter the recovery menu, when I type my pin it says wrong pin and it won't decrypt.
I know I have the correct pin since I can enter my phone just like I used to, but to decrypt the phone it says it's incorrect. Anyone recognises this problem or knows how to fix it?
Update your trwp to latest one, use blusparks

I have no idea what you are talking about. But as far as I know I've never used trwp. But thanks for the suggestion!

I think its a decryption issue. Have you unlocked your bootloader?

Yes! Can that be the issue? In the previous version of android I've never had any problems with this, just with the recent update.
