Hi, have you erased/cleaned earlier RoM before flashing stock MiUi RoM ???
I faced this issue when I flashed Stock MiUi back on Redmi Note 3. I had bootloader unlocked and used Mi Flash tool to clean all and then reflash the Stock RoM available on en.miui.com
Or fastboot RoM can be utilised when flashing through fastboot. But this will only work when bootloader is unlocked.
Hope that helps.

Use OrangeFox recovery and flash that via fastboot. From there, you can flash the ROM on that version of MIUI. Kindly read the instructions on the ROM page.

Yup. However, if you are on the latest TWRP (3.5) then you can just follow the ROM instructions right away without using ofox.
Is it possible to use an old TWRP backup of a custom ROM if I'm currently running stock Android 12?
The backup is of a Android 10 custom ROM with a bootloader of two and I am on bootloader 4 Android 12
