I'm an avid user of Androids screen saver mode, whereby when activated, you can have the screen display a clock, photos, a widget when the phone is charging.
This feature always worked on my previous phones. Now that I upgraded to the Note 20 Ultra, I found that when I have my phone charging wirelessly, the screensaver will evetually stop, and the phone will drop to a blank screen, or to the AOD if that's activated.
I'm not sure if this is due to a change in wireless charging with Samsung devices or Android 11.
From what I observed, it appears the phone will turn off wireless charging about two minutes after the toast message "Wireless Charging Paused" is displayed, which then kills the screensaver mode and the phone will go blank or into AOD.
Anyone using screen saver and experiencing this same issue, and maybe know of a workaround?
Thanks for any advice.

Is there any way to prevent turning off the screen while charging / on cradle?
I need it to see clock 24/7 while my device is charging.
Now if I connect device to the PC it goes standby (while on lock screen, when the time is displayed), even if "screen timeout" is set to never.
Thank you!

Click to collapse
you didn't say which device you have, but if it's a focus then avoid this, you will get screen burn in
Bump...
I too am looking for this solution. Back in WM 5 and 6 we were able to set independent brightness and sleep times while on battery or while plugged in. I am on day 3 with this WP7 phone and am getting frustrated by the "simplification" of so many aspects that I was able to modify in the past.
If it's just the clock you need to see, then you might wanna try Nightclock, which is available for free in the marketplace. It shows a nice clock and has an option for preventing the screen from turning off.
While your lock screen does not require a password (pass number really) an extra menu item is added to the settings/lock&wallpaper/screen timeout drop menu... "never"
But if you require a password to unlock the screen, this "never" option disappears...
Unfortunately for me it is not just the clock.
While docked on my desk I like to keep it open on my SMS conversations to see if anything new has arrived.
While docked in my car on top of the dash, I like to keep it on maps to see if any traffic congestion might be ahead and listening to podcasts. Its rather distracting to keep watching for the screen to go dark and tap it every 5 minutes.
Granted, it's possible I'm just doing it wrong, but I can't seem to get it to kick in.
I have it set to go on when it's on charge, and it should display the lock screen DashClock Widget stuff. If I do the 'try now' option it shows up fine, but not when it's supposed to when it's charging.
Any ideas why? Is my display timeout breaking it, or my 'screen never goes off if charging perhaps.
Yeah, I've been having the same problem. Got it set to open Timely (in Night Mode) when on charge, but it never does.

I found the problem, its in USB Debug, 'never sleep when charging' turn that off, and it works
Hello,
So use the Spotify in the phone, and then I have this Bluetooth receiver connected to the car radio.
When I put the phone to charge, a little after the phone locks the screen, the sound dims, and then returns back to normal (the second after). in between this, there is half circle showing on the lower part of phone.
I have tried to remove the APP from "battery saving app" (Menu>battery> app power saving [details] > Spotify - NEVER) and still the same. Also I've turned off the "App power saving", and nothing has changed.
The only time, the music is not dimmed, is when I am using google maps and getting direction, as the screen is always on.
Please let me know if you have a similar problem.
thanks
Hello MOAR users,
I'm not sure this is a MOAR issue. Something changed and I don't know what. For some reason when I plug in w Samsung USB cable & multiple different Samsung Adaptive Fast Chargers that previously would indicate "charging", now they do not. Inductive Qi charging seems to be working, although I'm not sure it is at the faster rater. On occasion it too has not worked but restarting the phone re-enabled it. Odd. "Fast Cable Charging" slide switch is "on" within the settings\battery area of the phone. I'm using Galaxy Charging Current app, to watch charge rate. In the MOAR General tab, Adaptive Fast Charging and Wireless Fast Charging buttons are red, indicating enabled. Anyone else experience this issue? Thanks in advance.
Also, how do you get what looks like a down arrow [on the extended power menu screenshot of the MOAR main XDA page] to further expand the options in the "Extended Power Menu"? I can enable a fixed number of them after which their respective icons are off screen and you can't scroll down to tap them. Touching the screen exits out of the menu in its entirety.
see this post too which describes pretty closely my issue:

Got the 'official' Xiaomi 55w charging dock today (its a really nice piece of kit) but, I can't get the charging animation to stay on whilst its charging. Went into developer options -> Stay Awake tab is on. I've even gone into Lock Screen Settings -> Sleep and selected 10 minutes. As soon as the phone hits the charger it displays the animation, even the 50w Max message but turns off after 10 seconds. Is there some setting I'm missing?
The animation is designed in such a way that it shows charging rapidly/turbocharging for 10 seconds and then it goes off. No setting to keep it going while the phone continues charging. The stay awake tab would keep the device awake to the home screen but it wont make the animation last any longer than what its designed for. Be assured that the phone continues to charge at the set wattage and you can verify that using Ampere just in case you want to keep a track.
Hope that answers your question.
It does. Thank you. I seen the charging animation on youtube reviews and thought there might have been an AOD Always On Display function. Thanks again
