Daydream - anyone got it working? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Granted, it's possible I'm just doing it wrong, but I can't seem to get it to kick in.
I have it set to go on when it's on charge, and it should display the lock screen DashClock Widget stuff. If I do the 'try now' option it shows up fine, but not when it's supposed to when it's charging.
Any ideas why? Is my display timeout breaking it, or my 'screen never goes off if charging perhaps.

Yeah, I've been having the same problem. Got it set to open Timely (in Night Mode) when on charge, but it never does.

I found the problem, its in USB Debug, 'never sleep when charging' turn that off, and it works

[Q] Prevent WP7 sleep/standby while charging/on cradle

Is there any way to prevent turning off the screen while charging / on cradle?
I need it to see clock 24/7 while my device is charging.
Now if I connect device to the PC it goes standby (while on lock screen, when the time is displayed), even if "screen timeout" is set to never.
Thank you!

you didn't say which device you have, but if it's a focus then avoid this, you will get screen burn in
Bump...
I too am looking for this solution. Back in WM 5 and 6 we were able to set independent brightness and sleep times while on battery or while plugged in. I am on day 3 with this WP7 phone and am getting frustrated by the "simplification" of so many aspects that I was able to modify in the past.
If it's just the clock you need to see, then you might wanna try Nightclock, which is available for free in the marketplace. It shows a nice clock and has an option for preventing the screen from turning off.
While your lock screen does not require a password (pass number really) an extra menu item is added to the settings/lock&wallpaper/screen timeout drop menu... "never"
But if you require a password to unlock the screen, this "never" option disappears...
Unfortunately for me it is not just the clock.
While docked on my desk I like to keep it open on my SMS conversations to see if anything new has arrived.
While docked in my car on top of the dash, I like to keep it on maps to see if any traffic congestion might be ahead and listening to podcasts. Its rather distracting to keep watching for the screen to go dark and tap it every 5 minutes.

Doesn't go to sleep when docked?

Wondering if this is how it's designed or what... but when my my tablet is docked to the docking station the screen never seems to go into standby / sleep mode. Is there a setting that I am missing or is it designed that way?
Funny you should mention that. I've started wondering today if the tablet won't go into Deep Sleep if you just close the lid.
Try pressing the power button first, then closing the lid, see if that makes any difference.
EDIT: Also, do you have the battery saving feature enabled, so when you press buttons on the dock, it doesn't wake it up?
There is a big discussion going on in another thread and AFAIK it is known issue for some Docks and Asus would replace it for you.
But first please ensure that the settings/apps are not stopping it from deep sleep.
Well... I finally figured it out. Totally my fault that I didn't realize what was going on until I was restoring my phone (EVO) and saw the item...
I had "Stay Awake (Screen will never sleep while charging)" enabled in the settings. It never occurred to me, because the dock is charging the tablet, it is always in "charging mode", thus it wouldn't go to sleep because of that.
Once I un-checked that, it went to sleep perfectly fine... although I still feel the battery on the dock drains a little faster than it should, it's def better (and not nearly as fast as the drain issue people were having).

D'OH! For crying out loud - thank you! This post saved me a warranty call to ASUS. I would've felt like an idiot returning my dock for a dumb setting I missed.
For those looking for quick access to the "Stay Awake (Screen will never sleep while charging)" setting, it can be found under...
SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > DEVELOPMENT > Stay Awake
Here is a tip for longer battery, with no WIFI when screen off i noticed when looking at my battery stats that wifi was always on longer. It wasnt turning off straight away.
I now disable the wifi using the dock button then turn off using the power button on the tablet just reverse the procedure when turning on.

[Q] Can't get screen to stay on

I use my tablet as an alarm clock and it has always worked perfectly. After the last system update, though, I find that I can't get the sreen to stay on. I have the screen timeout set to 5 minutes, and I cannot override that. I went in to developer settings and set it so the screen stays on when it is plugged in, but that does not work. I tried using the system clock app and using night mode but that also shuts off after 5 minutes, even when plugged in. I tried turning on the screen saver to the clcok setting when it is plugged in but that still does not keep the screen on past 5 minutes.
Anyone have any other ideas for something I could try?
There are a bunch of apps and widgets that make it easy to switch between "normal screen off with delay" or "screen always on". Have you tried one of these ? Since your setting is blocked as you say, I'm not sure if the apps can override it, but you can try.
for instance No screen off (widget)
or Keep screen on (a background app that checks the device's inclination)

I use app Backlight Switch. It has options to show in notifications and has a widget. You can also create an app list that auto-toggles it.

Notifications waking device?

From what I can tell I have it disabled, but every day when I wake up my display is on the lock screen (dim) with the notifications that arrived while I was sleeping.
Is the only way to stop this from happening right now basically to completely disable previews (including on double tap/pick up)?
Edit: It's only happening when plugged in.
Haven't seem this at all. Make sure you have always on display and anything like "lift to check" turned off

Question Always on display not working properly

So, since I updates to android 13 one ui 5.0 my always on display is not working as it should. I use the "tap to show" option, and it works fine the first time i touch my screen when it's off. But that's it. If i don't wake up the screen and touch it again after the screen goes black to see the AOD, it won't show.
I find it very useful to use at night, while sleeping, to see the time and not get blinded by the bright display.
I cleared the phone's cache after the update. Still not working as intended...
Do you use energy saving during day? I set a routine to activate it under 20%, so it deactivate aod, but when I charge it and goes over 20%, I have to enable aod again.
I'm having some issues too. I was using "tap to show", but recently it always come back to "always show" at the moment I lock my phone
