HI All;
I am facing unique problem
Here is description-
I am from India and using 'Idea' as a network provider.
My cell phone is HTC touch.
Today for some time I switched off my cell phone for couple of hours , and switched it ON for a use. But since I switched it ON i am getting following Status on status bar
'phone off'
'Searching'
'Idea'
and then again
'phone off'
'Searching'
'Idea'
It keeps on happeneing
I did follwowing things
1) Soft Reset my device
2) Hard reset my device
but nothing seems to solve the problem.
Then I removed my SIM card and put it in Nokia device . While switching ON it dispalyed me a message 'SIM ERROR' . But I was able to make a call and receive messages.
Also I put another SIM card in HTC Touch and phone worked perfectly fine.(I was able to make a call and receive messages.)
But when I put my orginal SIM card in my HTC Touch again above mentioned problem start occuring.
Can any body guide me on this..
Thanks in advance
have u tried contacting ur service provider? they can tell u if theres any prob in area, refresh the network sim, check status of sim and poss replace sim.?
yip, im with Davey on that one, sounds like a faulty SIM card, happens rarely but does happen. Get a new one from your provider.
Hi
I found the said phone in a field !!! at a music festival....
I unblocked the phone in shop so it would take my Vodafone sim..
It worked for 2 days and now i cant make or receive calls, texting etc
I have tried to search for a network provider but when its finished trying to register to Vodafone etc it says sim card doesnt allow connection to the network
i have tried going into factory settings to no avail....
have tried galaxy toolbox but straight away as i click onto it says 'failed to acquire ROOT access!'
very forceful hey !!! haha
am running out of ideas and am not a tech guy although i do want to learn more now.
Do u think the person who left the field has done something via their network provider that has done something to the phone
I am in England..... thank you for your time
HELP!!! HELP!!! HELP!!! HELP!! HELP!!! HELP!!!
My mobile (SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE GT N-7000 ) not getting signal.... some times it is getting 1 or 2 points but when i tried to make a call it is showing " NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK"..... My SIM working in all other mobiles.. But all other SIM cards not working in my mobile.....
It woked fine before. I gave my mobile in samsung care to repair my mic.... they repaired mic but when i take my mobile back and attempt to make a call for first time its showing "NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK".... I immediately showed them... they said its the problem of My sim card, But after I tried with many sims it is not working..... Help me how to fix it...... Is it a software problem or Hardware problem.....
you may need to get the carrier APN settings reinputed into the phone, without the carrier settings the phone will not connect to the data & sometimes with have issues with other connections.
as the title says , am getting a network signal in the status bar with no sim card installed in the device , where it used to show a stop or block sign before when there is no sim installed , don't know when it started but i have noticed it a week ago , and am on the 5.1.1 update ,
what i have tried so far :
1 - reset the device from the setting .
2 - reset the device with samsung smart switch for windows ( which download the latest firmware for the device & install it ) .
3 - installed the factory firmware with odin , and got the device to axiom telecom which is my warranty service provider , and the told me the have changed the whole motherboard , & after telling them the issue is still there , they showed me another s6 with no sim and there is signal and told me that this behavior is normal ( which i don't think so ) .
4 - contacted samsung directly by phone & email , and they told me to reset the device or send it to service ( which i already did ) .
so , is this behavior really normal ? are any of you guys getting this ?
my device : SM-G920F
country : Saudi Arabia
no its not normal
if you type *#06# you gonna find IMEI become 3500000000006/01
if it is then you cant make calls or send sms ( not registered on network )
its the same problem like me i don't know where this come from but we need some one to give us backup the EFS folder. to restore it back to the phone SM-G920F
please if some one can help us thank you

no , it seem we are having different problems ,
*#06# reveals normal IMEI ,
and i can make & receive phone calls & sms if i install a sim card ,
try resetting yours to stock ,
other than showing a signal with no sim card installed the phone is fine & doesn't have any problems .
Speculation- you'd need emergency service call? I would assume that it's allowed to connect to network for that and not have phone disabled?
More speculation- your being spied on...

It's only a display icon. You aren't able to still make a regular call without the sim? If it ain't broke don't fix it.
But to ease your mind just check the network status in your settings. Should say what connected to.
Surely it does have to do with the update itself if your phone still functions as normal.
I'm sure there is a network status with the super secret spy codes that you enter on your dial pad. You know the #secretrandomnumber#* codes...

it could be there for emergency calls ,
in terms of being spied on , ha ha ,i don't think so , the service center changed the entire motherboard which include the eMMC with it's whole partitions .
the sim card status in the settings says Not Available for everything , and yes i can't make calls nor sms without the sim ,
but you still didn't answer my question : do you get this when you remove your sim ?
no one with a similar problem ??
I've seen it on lots of Samsung phones. It's simply a signal for emergency calls. You have to be able to make emergency calls with or without a Sim and that's telling you how much signal you have.
Seriously people this is pretty simple and no conspiracy.
You only get a circle with a line through if you have a sim card installed that is blocked from the network or the phone is stolen / blocked etc.

good to hear ,
what made me think it isn't ordinary thing is that the service center didn't know about it & thought it was a problem ,
thanks a lot .
This was done on last update Samsung gods thought we needed to know how much of a signal we had for emergency calls
Having the same problem with my samsung galaxy s6 SM-920F. showing bars on the signals even without sim. not connecting to network operator as well. showing Disconnected status in SIM status from About.
Tried updating the software even downgrading, factory reset and wiping cache but nothing worked.
Found this thread when looking for an answer to this question. In my case, it is a tablet that hasn't even got a sim option but still has the mobile network signal showing, even when airplane mode is switched on. Just worry it is eating some of my battery life. Any ideas?
I am also getting same problem.
There is no sim card inserted in my phone but still it shows the network bars.. Your And my problem is same.
There, an actual answer. Guess I should add it here since I wondered the same thing
a sim card has nothing to do with the transceiver system of the phone. its literally a "passkey" it is your authentication to USE that network. ie you can always SEE the network you just not allowed to "use it" without permission hence the simcard.

Hello everyone !
Before you read here is the specs and what I tried but didn't work to solve this issue :
Model : galaxy s5 (klte )
OS : Havoc OS 3.7 latest
Root : magisk21.1
Solutions I tried :
1 - restarted the phone .
2- clear factory reset and reinstalling the ROM.
3- checking my IMEI and its fine doesn't need repairs *#06#.
4- switched Sim cards and tested other Sim cards still no results .
5- return the official android OS still no use .
6- any other obvious solutions didn't work such as backup and restore my IMEI/EFS , airplane mod .
7- choosing network operator in the settings results a crash while searching so I can't choose manually and only be able to let it at automatic .
so lately I just bought a 4g Sim card and I know the galaxy s5 support 4g bands as I inserted the SIM it worked normally yet I wanted to switch the band to LTE so obviously I went to *#*#4636#*#* and switched bands so I can see which one would work yet suddenly while switching a couple of times the signal stopped showing and emergency calls only even though it reads the Sim card .
i tried to manually chose network operator but it crash's while it search's for it no matter what OS I install even in original so if anyone knows a command line to manually chose a network operator that would be appreciated.
Anyone know what to do ?

You may need to contact customer support for your carrier, they may have to fix it in their network.

The thing is about my carrier that they have a terrible customer service in here as if it was almost non-existing so I'm left all alone to deal with the problem plus there aren't any customer service for Samsung or any other external fix center for smart phone that's why I had to learn things on my own.

If you can't get back into that dialer menu and if flashing the firmware isn't fixing it and if booting into recovery and factory resetting the device aren't working, I'm not sure if there is anything you can do.
