I need to connect to a computer for debugging, but I can't find this setting option in the head unit.
I am using the method of turning on wifi adb in the configuration file to realize debugging now, but it is not convenient for USB adb debugging.
The default USB mode of the head unit is HOST MODE, I need to change it to DEVICE MODE.
Sorry for such a low-level question, I missed it
The answer is in the developer options

Top right of developer options 3 dots.
Click that and you'll get two options. Both in Chinese.

ummm, that'd prolly clear my problem up, but would take too much time getting everything reinstalled and reconfigured. Phone's fully functional as far as I can tell, just USB Debugging setting is greyed out. Any ideas other than a factory reset?
heh, figured it out. Thanks, XDA...
anyhoo, seems USB Debugging is greyed out *if* USB is set to Ask on Connect. Set to Mass Storage and USB Debugging is available...

I just got a replacement handset and now I am unable to enter into usb debugging mode. I can select it but as soon as I exit the screen it becomes unselected. I have also tried to select mass storage instead Ask on Connect but it won't let me do that either. Every time I try to select another option I am bumped of the screen. What is going on here?
By the way I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. This doesn't make any sense other than T-Mobile disabled this feature.

It would make more sense to ask at the SGS4G forum.

This is Amazing. I was driving a rental car with a usb port and it kept importing my ringtones instead of just charging my device. So effing annoying I was about to install a rom. Thank you

Make sure your ROM is a TouchWiz ROM. The hidden menu doesn't work on AOSP if I remember correctly.
Looks like the procedure has changed with OTA 4.3/4.4. Dug around a little and found out that the hidden menus can be enabled by changing the /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu contents from:
OFF
to:
ON
After that dialing *#0808# gets you to the USBSettings Menu.
Good find
Since none of the *# codes work on Verizon anymore to get me into the Qualcomm USB Settings, I found and used ##366633# in 4.4, toggle DM on and then back off to get it to show back up properly.
I didn't want to root my phone to mess with any files to get the hidden menu to work.
Hi everybody ,
Maybe you will find my question weird or obsolete. I have an old N81 8GB (Symbian) phone which contains a lot of important information inside.
The problem is that my phone is locked with 5 digits password (which I have) and its keypad and screen are broken!.
My question is if there is any way to pass the security code to the phone through USB port so that I can open the phone and get my data back.
TIA

A USB mouse could be used to make whatever selections you need, but that is useless without a working screen. Do you have USB debugging enabled in developer options? If you never enabled that yourself before the phone was broken then it probably is not enabled. If so, then, sadly, you're out of luck. All the methods that could be used by you to retrieve the information require USB debugging to be enabled.
Your only other option is possibly a repair shop if they have the knowledge and equipment to do it.

Thx 4 replying,
1st it's a Symbian OS (no developer options)
2nd the device only boots with no screen or keypad working
3rd it's locked with numeric which make Nokia PC suit doesn't detect the device!
thx again bro :fingers-crossed:
Anyone else have to unlock their device and then change the USB mode from "Charging Only" to "Transfer Files" to make Android Auto work? What a pain in the butt!
When I connect USB cablr .. directly I have to choose transfer files .
It's not issue, I think it's more safe .

More safe to protect your files?
I find it a pain in the a$$
Every phone i have had has done it automatically till this one.
Ended up getting around with it Tasker and AutoInput though shouldnt have too.
I encounter problems too (Chinese model). Since I added both Andoid Auto and Spotify to my 5 startup list apps, it seems to work OK. Sometimes it just randomly stops working, but still investigating if that's to do with the cable.
Another weird thing I have with android Auto is that I can not use voice commands. It is 'temporary unavailable'.

-Activate Developer Settings: Settings, about phone, baseband & kernel, click 5 times on build number.
-Open Developer settings: Settings, additional settings, Developer settings.
-Set default USB settings (under Developer settings ) to File transfer
-Set Select USB configuration (under Developer settings) to MTP.

Hello guys,
Today I unfortunately dropped my Pixel 2 with following result: screen is broken and won't light up again .
The phone is still working as i feel the vibrations when touching the buttons.
I assume that the screen is totally gone, but is there a way that i can recover all my data that was on the phone?
If I could just connect it to my computer and be able to recover it all, it would make the pain a little bit less.
Using ADB or any other solution?
Any help from you all is more than welcome and highly appreciated!

Did you happen to toggle the usb debugging option in developer settings before you dropped it?
If you can access phone via ADB then you can pull out most of user-data stored on.

I can't remember if i ever turned it on.
When i launch ADB and give the command 'adb devices' it won't give any results... So i think it's not enabled.
Any options without USB Debugging ON?

Or maybe you don't have the usb drivers installed on your pc.
Can't think of any way besides adb.
