Not Receiving SMS/MMS but can send them and data/calling works fine - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

So here's the story:
I bought my new OnePlus 8T Android 11 Oxygen OS 11.0.6.7 for Total Wireless (Tracfone on Verizon) and got a new sim and everything worked fine then decided to unlock bootloader and root magisk (which i did) and then suddenly everything works again BUT I cannot RECEIVE SMS and MMS but CAN SEND them, Data works fine, Calling works fine. I tried getting a new SIM card, switching SIM slots, resetting phone, changing APN's, everything you can think of. Besides unrooting of course. Still all the same. So I'm wondering if rooting/unlocking bootloader effected anything or if anyone else has the same issue? or has any knowledge of such issue?

Have you checked Carrier Services? I had to downgrade as it borked messaging.

how do i do that?

Go to the Google Play store, find Carrier Services then uninstall (it may be uninstall updates). Once that's done, turn off automatic updating for Carrier Services (via the Play store). Then restart your phone.

Cannot access Google services on mobile data, all else is fine

My wife and I both have Nexus 5s on the same carrier (Ting, CDMA). We've got the latest stock build (5.1.1, LMY48B). As of perhaps 6 months ago (we can't remember exactly), my wife's phone has been unable to access any Google services while on mobile data (3G or LTE). Everything else works fine on mobile data and everything works fine on Wi-Fi. It's just Google services (Hangouts, Gmail, etc.) which she can't use (e.g. doesn't get new Hangouts messages, can't send Hangouts messages).
These things are working fine for me on my Nexus 5 on mobile data. Ting suggested we do a profile update, PRL update, and after those didn't work, suggested a factory reset. We've done all these things, probably have done the factory reset twice, and it hasn't helped. The second time we did a factory reset we even made sure not to restore any settings, so it was completely fresh.
Any more ideas?
Thanks!

Lost Hotspot and Tethering in Settings Menu

My phone was domestic unlocked. I was having a weird bug so I thought a software reinstall with Samsung Switch (PC) was a good idea...Worst decision I've made in 2016 so far! After the phone restarted, all Sprint apps were gone, and some others disabled like Facebook, Lookout and Instagram and the Hotspot and Tethering settings no longer appear. I went to a friend asking for some help: Various reinstalls with Odin yielded no results. GT idone needs root. A rooted phone is a no no for me as Banking apps and even Pokémon can't run. Factory resets and another "repair" with Samsung Switch are useless.
Where did the carrier apps went? Also, all the Sprint APNs no longer appear. Is there a NON ROOTED way of getting it back? We tried RTN, then reflashing with Odin with no results. I'm on the latest Marshmallow update (Came out yesterday)
Who is your carrier TELCEL?
Not sure what that is, actually I just look at your profile. What is your fw version?
Sent from my Portable
i have the same problem. some one please help. i miss my hotspot...# unlock sprint note 5 no root. 6.0.1 T_mobile is my Carrier

Problems with GPay

Hello everyone,
Got the problem with GPay yesterday, and cannot resolve it yet.
Performed the clean install of 9.0.2, wiped everything, all is working fine except adding my debit card in GPay.
What happens:
I open GPay app, it shows the card linked to my Google account, and says that i must 'Set up in-store payment'. When i tap the card and enter the CVC code, it starts to load something for an instant, but then just returns to the starting screen of the GPay app. Seems like it can't connect to the bank services.
What i tried:
- Linking this card to my wife's GPay - works fine.
- Linking my wife cards to my GPay - fails as mine.
- Flashing different official ROMs - 8.1.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2.
- Wiping everything, locking bootloader etc.
- Setting the phone anew with a fresh new Google account - GPay returns an error with 'OR-TAPSH-15' code. Google does not show any info about it.
- Talking to tech support of my bank and Google - they only say that my firmware is or was modified and cannot help me because of that.
It seems that I wiped something that I shouldn't. I thought about EFS at first, but the wi-fi and cellular data works fine, and IMEI is shown right.
Maybe there's something that i miss, or there are some thoughts about this situation?

Check playstore/ settings scroll down to the bottom to see if playstore is certified. If not and you still have a locked bootloader Wipe playstore data to become certified.
If you have an unlocked bootloader you need to flash magisk then Erase playstore data to become certified.

Dude you just made my day. I had been battling with the same problems with GPay for past 2 days on my new Pixel 3... Tried just about everything. Switching to Russian, doing all GPay setup and then switching back to English finally resolved everything. If I could buy you a beer - I would

I know it's an old topic, but after upgrading at Android 10 yesterday I lost my Revolut card from Google pay and there is no way to set-up again the in store payments.
Anyone found any new solutions?

Anyone tested Google pay?

Hi.
I got my phone yesterday and added my card successfully in Google pay. Tested it in two different stores today with contactless payment, but the terminal didn't even react.
I tested the nfc on my oneplus against my old huawei and at least it tries reading it, so that means the nfc is working I guess.
Have to add that I was using Google pay in these stores before with my old Huawei with no problems.
EDIT: SOLVED
I changed from SIM1 to Google pay in phone settings to make it work.
I have tested it 2 times, no problems. Phone was unlocked , display on
I tried to pay with Google pay twice yesterday. Both times the phone recognized i was trying to pay, but the payment did not get through. Tested with PayPal and CC both times.
Btw i am curious to know wether i have to open the power menu everytime i want to pay? Or does Google Pay still work from every screen?
Works for me everytime, although it says "not set up"
Worked for me when my BL was locked, working fine with unlocked BL and root. Even paid today.
Working... Rooted....

Doesn't work for me since I can't get past the setup screen. Rooted also

You need to Magisk Hide Google Pay. While you are at it hide root from everything Google.

I did. Still no work
Ok, strike that. Looks it's working now, but only after restarting the phone. Safetynet failed before restarting and now it passes.
Did some more testing today. Tried for an extended period in the store today with no luck. It's not even reacting. Phone is not rooted btw and I unlock the screen when I try it. I try to open the app when doing it also.
I tried pairing my headset with nfc and that works flawlessly.
So weird
Edit: just found this settings. Think that could be it? (See picture)
I too, am experiencing issues with Google Pay. At first, I thought it was my bank card needing my bank to ok it for Google Pay on the new phone. But then my Walgreens points card didn't work either-so it's definitely NFC or Google Pay oriented. I have everything setup correctly. How annoying and weird...
Changing the settings from SIM1 to Google pay made it work, so problem solved!

Att/Tmobile firmware update unlocked Note 10+

Short store - installed firmware and now none of the OEM apps are on the phone. No ATT logo on bootup.
So months back my wife bought me an unlocked samsung note10+ that was new. I was using it via wifi fine but finally went to use with my sim card for att and learned it didnt work to make or receive calls. After investigating I learned I needed to flash the firmware with tmobile which would work for ATT. I found a video with instructions to reset phone, install usb drivers for window, run odin, load each firmware file into the correct boxes and then hit start and it said success and restarted phone. I can now call out and receive calls on the phone however the phone didnt boot up with the ATT logo not does it have any apps at all on the screen. I lost all my stock apps like the clock, calendar and all the oem ones, whether google maps, youtube and all that jazz.
Did I do something wrong? How do I get all those back as I need maps and youtube and definitely a clock to set alarms.
My apologies if in the wrong forum.

T mobile firmware doesn't have AT&T bloatware or AT&T specific apps and features(which you did not need and are not important anyway). As long as you are connecting to your network and can use the phone without issues, you will be fine. If you want the AT&T apps(including stock clock and calendar), you can probably find them online with a Google search and install them manually. As for the AT&T boot screen, it would require rooting the device to change that to AT&T boot screen. Maps and YouTube can be installed from Google PlayStore.
I have a N975U and and N975U1. AT&T brings nothing to the table I use. Both are nearly identical, I simply package block the AT&T apps on the one.
I use Samsung calendar and clock. Clock may not install for you as I'm running on Pie. Calendar won't upload here. Not sure why. It's 25mb, it should upload...

Upload it to a hosting site then link it here, then it should work just fine.
