Well I just switched to Android and I'm loving it! It's awesome. However I'm really having a problem with my battery. I got this phone on Sunday...and the battery life for me has been horrible for me.
I leave my phone on the charger all night. I have to leave for school, and I take my phone off the charger around 8:00am.
Throughout the school day, I'll check my phone a couple times. I probably send like 10-15 texts, and I take a few pictures at lunch. That's all I do, nothing else. By the end of the day (2:45) the battery is at 50%. I don't understand how a battery can be this bad, when it's in standby almost the whole day.
I have advanced task killer installed, and I have it set so all apps are killed when the screen is off, and it auto-kills apps. I turn off wi-fi at school since I don't get any, and my screen brightness is at auto. No live wallpaper either, just a normal still one. So I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I understand the battery isn't the biggest, but from what I hear everyone else is getting better battery life then me, and they're doing so much more than me.
Any help? Would be appreciate!
First things first, get rid of task killer. Also see what's syncing. Play with the settings a little. Battery is tiny for this phone. But with tweaking it does the job. Best bet is to get a second battery or an extended battery from the desire hd.
Why should I get rid of task killer? Everyone that I speak to that has android told me to get it. When I don't have it, I have all these apps running in the background like Asphalt 5, AT&T Navigator, Maps, and a bunch of crap that shouldn't even be running. I have pretty much everything syncing, does that kill the battery?
Taskiller was ok back in earlier versions of android. The apps aren't actually running they are stored in memory with no impact on CPU. Constant syncing is going to destroy your battery.
Davwman is absolutely correct about the task killer app. Do some googling on this and you will see that it creates more issues than helps.

Alright, thanks a lot! I fixed the syncing, and a message popped up saying that it will extend the battery life. I'm going to assume this is going to help a lot, since Facebook and my email was probably constantly updating during. I'll look into the task killer as well!
You should see an improvements in the following days as well as the battery is settling in.
If not, Id ask AT&T for a replacement of the unit for another one.
If you have any battery widgets I would remove those too. I had batstatt and it was destroying my battery!!!
The battery isn't too great... 1230mAH ... I did send an e-mail to HTC regarding replacement batteries and they said I quote..

There's absolutely a chance of extended batteries being made; plenty of our devices have them made for them. At this time I don't know for sure if we're going to have one, as that decision is made by a completely different department and the Inspire 4G has only been available for less than a week. You really need to turn off auto-brightness as well. That will suck up battery power. Just set your brightness to a reasonable level. I usually keep mine around 35-40%
also auto rotate and data always on could affect it
Look into a widget that will allow you to kill data when you don't need it. Switchpro is a paid app and will allow this but I'm sure there are free ones.
You will still be able to send and receive calls as well as sms.
This should help get more out of the battery life.
As previously stated you might also look into picking up a spare battery for when you need the juice.
Check amazon and ebay. Beware of anything coming from China.

Everytime your screen adjusts, its using CPU. So turn it off, get rid of the task killer,- when you kill them, chances are most of them are starting back up and that's making it worse.
Flash/ or wait for a version with all of this horrendous bloat removed.

I'm at 15 hours off charge, exactly 20% battery left, 3 hours screen on time
turn off syncing. dont us gps or navigation programs. no live wallpaper. i use this phone like my old Tilt 2 and i get about the same amount of battery life out of it (1 day) and i charge it at night. now on my phone i have syncs running for email and facebook and what not i send and recieve about 30 - 50 txts a day. lots of email. photos for work, i DO have live wallpaper loaded so i think the battery is just fine. however yes i will want a bigger battery when this one dosnt accomplish a full day without a charge.. oh ya games will eat into your battery as well!
I'm just wondering if anyone here is getting the super amazing battery life that I'm also seeing. I'm running Virusrom (basically just themed stock rom with no bloat) had my data connections off, and screen off clock speed set to 200MHz (using overclock widget to control speed)
I got through 12 hours on 3% battery. Is anyone else seeing this?

seems alittle fishy since the processor cannot go below 245Mhz.
plus what do you mean by data connections off? No LTE or 3G?
Or do you mean you disabled always-on mobile data? I myself usually drop 10% in about 7-8 hours with that enabled and normal use, with SetCPU telling the processor to run at 245Mhz when the screen is off.
Yea, 245mhz, I didn't have my phone on me, and couldn't exactly remember. No data means no wifi, 3G, 4G. It just could receive/send calls and texts. As for the overclock widget, it's just called "Overclock Widget" in the market.
I am on a stock Tbolt and have disabled the lock screen and GPS when not needed and am getting at least 12 hrs with life to spare. MUCH better then my first day of use
1 1/2 more hours I will reach 12 hours. All I did was to follow this man's tips. I still have 30% left. I'm sure it's nothing new to some of you but new to me as I never had to do this w my old Samsung or Nokia phones.

2. Gmail sync
3. Facebook sync
3. SipDroid calls for about 2 hours
4. Pandora streaming for 1/2 hour
5. Surf net about 1 hour
6. Xda app about 1/2 hour

Unless I'm actively using data, I always have it off. Well unless it's on charge haha. As for sync, I don't even sync email (gmail), or anything. I don't really count contacts or apps as syncing as it's almost a one time thing. Most people tell my i Baby my smartphone, but I'm the only one I knew that could get 3 days on my Dinc 3 days no charge on stock battery haha.

What is the point of using your Android smartphone without data all day? Is this a pissing contest to see who can disable all of the core functionality of the phone and see how long the battery lasts?
I turned my phone off the other day and when I turned it back on I used .5% of the battery... woah!! That is absurd battery life for such an awesome smart phone.
Sorry for all the BS... but honestly, why go through all of these lengths to prolong battery life longer than 12-18 hours. It renders the device useless and it no longer provides service to the user. I completely agree with optimizing the device (running custom kernels when they become available), using SetCPU profiles, etc... to a certain extent. If those optimizations impede on performance or functionality in any way then they are not worth it to me.
So ultimately, why sacrifice performance and functionality for the sake of ridiculous battery life. As long as you can make it through the day, then no worries. I charge my device every night anyhow.
I've started using this widget as well, I'll find out its effectiveness in a day or two once I leave it off for a while (like overnight). Only complaint I have though - every time I turn the screen on, it says it's been granted su permissions, right above my dock. Is there any way to turn that off? It's just kinda weird too, if I go to show off the phone it looks bad.
Edit: I do have data usage in the background though.
Well honestly, I am around a computer most of the day, sleeping, or at work (can't be on my phone) I was sleeping most of that 3% loss. When I'm near a computer I tether so that charges without me thinking about it, and in my car I have it on charge because of the battery rape of GPS and 3g/4g. It's still a fully functional phone with no data... I can text and talk all I want. And it's not like I don't toggle on my data when I need it. I just don't see the point of being THAT connected to technology ALL off the item, and I'm a programmer, and an I.T. gupy >_>

In the Superuser app you can change that notification. Also, there is a preference for the notification letting you know the clock changed in the widget's prefs. I turn them off. I normally use a smartass kernel as it works with much less power, but this is better than not having it for now IMHO.

I'll tell you why.
1. 4g tether that rivals my cable internet, and I can have both at the same time
2. I always have data and GPS, which is amazing in my car or anywhere.
3. Why no I have to be strung to the internet 24/7 and not just when I want to? It's always there, at the toggle of a button. I'd rather not be lazy and toggle data versus looking for a charger every few hours >_>

Thanks, I somehow missed that setting when I was setting it up earlier.
Also, I kind of agree with what's said due to the fact that 75%+ of the time I'm awake I'm at a computer. I don't need to have my phone do much more than texts/calls during that time. Why waste battery for that? But when I'm not at a computer, I need it, and that's why I have this phone.

Not a problem. We all miss something at times
As for "needing" data, I personally find myself "wanting" it. I don't have anything that I can't let go of on the internet while I'm at work (can't use my phone for anything but texting once in a while). I always enjoy my data, and use a considerable amount of data, but it's either tethered or plugged in as I'm driving, and may as well. I guess being a minimalist is against the law now a days
i get great battery life stock not rooted but when i added adw launcher and gingerbread theme with ginger bread keyboard i went 1hr and it was a 60% and i never touched it so stock my battery is awesome

I think you've missed the point. Noone will last even more than 6 hours if you don't do the trickle charges or whatever you call it. That's the point. I know you reply to OP but just want to point it out. After charging it the right way, you will certainly last 8 hours at least which then bring to your point "I charge the phone every night anhow".

in settings, there is a setting to turn off data and wifi after a certain epriod of time when the screen is off, saves battery very well.
Here are the settings I'm running on CM7 to get amazingly bananas battery life (with the display being on for about 5 hours!)..
1. Conservative governor: 245mhz - 1017mhz in CM7 settings
2. Install the 'BatteryCalibration' app from the market. This app caused the single biggest improvement for me after having flashed so many roms and never calibrating the battery. If you've calibrated it before though, I don't think it'll be very useful for you.
3. Install 'NoBars' from the market to automatically turn on airplane mode when you have no service. (This might be useless to some of you if you always have a signal; Very useful in NYC subway though)
4. Use a 2G toggle widget to have the phone only use the Edge connection when you only need it to receive calls/ texts and don't need the high speeds. I use the toggle widget in the CM7 notification bar. HUGE battery saver.
Give these a shot and let us know how they work for you

Mmy display has been on on over 5 hours now and I have 5% of the battery left. Seems more than good enough for me. Hopefully it will be for some of you too

Question: It's cool that your display was on for 3 hours, but what did you do as far as app usage??
If you did use your phone "a heck of a lot" wouldn't some apps like "internet" "maps" or something show up on the battery use %'s???
For example, currently, other than phone idle, cell standby, voice calls and android, there's also internet, mail, maps, and other apps that I used today alot.
Good observation. I have no idea how android chooses which apps to show on there, but I think it depends on the ROM? I remember on Iced Glacier cell standby would barely use 5% of the battery and on CM7 it uses >40% consistently. Idk.
Maybe what those apps used up here was nothing compared to the display, wifi and phone idle time.. Just a guess.. But I did use the browser and xda app and listened to music via the Rdio app running in the background several times throughout the day, and sent multiple texts and have had my wifi on for about 5 hours now. I can't really find a menu that would show these statistics except in the Spare Parts app, and here you go..
I got 17 hours just yesterday with 9% left with moderate to heavy use (texting, web browsing and ps1 emulation).
I didn't do anything besides use faux's kernel with the smartass govenor. I have the max speed overclocked to 1.8 as well...
Nice. I just got over flashing new kernels for a while since the stock CM7 one has everything functioning perfectly and new kernels would improve on something but mess up something else in my experience.
I can't seem to find a 2g toggle widget that works with Royal Glacier. (one touch, I've found a few that take you to settings) When I was running Royal Ginger I would always use the one that came in the notification bar.
Wifi status is also a good app to remind the forgetful to turn off wifi when they leave the Area.

This is GREAT battery life... i wonder what word i'd use to describe mine.
i Pulled my Phone off the Charger this morning @ 7:20pm EST. Now it is 3:13 EST. and i've got ~50% left. So thats what like. 7 hours

since my last boot. 8:10AM when i loaded the new CM7. 1h 1m 59s.
Unless I'm missing something, the 'BatteryCalibration' app won't increase your battery life. It will just help to get a more accurate reading of your battery level.
I've played around with different roms and kernels. And yes, they do have a small effect on battery life, but not all that much.
Here's my tip for battery life. Get on ebay and buy one the of the cheap packages from Hong Kong with 3 batteries and a standalone charger. Like this:

Maybe. All I know is my battery increased dramatically after running that app once.
I measure battery life by how many hours I am able to keep my display on before it dies rather than how long after it comes off the charger (like nedilinger does). My battery used to die after about 3 hours of the display being on. Now it consistently lasts 5 hours.
Anyway, I was just trying to let others know what I did to get a really good battery life on my phone thinking it might be helpful. Apparently that's not appreciated. Thanks tho.

simple way to get awesome battery life without any extra steps is to install RoyalGlacier 1.6, that's all. A couple days ago I ran my phone for one and a half days before charging it again, and it still had 14% battery left. RG is pretty much a polished version of CM7, runs blazing fast and smooth.

Better than what's reported under CM7. The battery life I posted above was on RG.

I had battery issues, I'd have to charge it mid day else it would die. Juicedefender helped a bit (claimed to do 1.7x battery life) but I uninstalled it, rooted the phone, and uninstalled a bunch of stock apps
For some reason now my battery lasts a very very long time, don't know how or why that is. I also admit I don't use it as heavily as some people, but my habits have not changed and I did have to charge it mid day (like i said) even with little usage

Obviously, it's hard to say without describing how I use my phone, but I get probably 10-15 hours of medium-high usage. I probably get about 4-5 hours of talk time. I'd say the Chinese ebay batteries probably last 80-90% as long as the OEM battery. Quite decent considering the price.
My earlier thoughts about the BatteryCalibration app could be wrong. I don't really know all the details about how Android battery calibration works. I just assumed that it simply learns about all the bad spots in your battery so that your phone doesn't instantly jump from 80% to 30%. I also assumed that the phone would die when the battery had no power left, as opposed to when it says 0%, but maybe that's not the case. Regardless, if it helps you, more power to you and I appreciate you sharing the app. I didn't mean to come off as an unappreciative ****. If I did, sorry bout that.
How is the battery life on the MT? If it's poor (stock), have you found a good utility app to help it last longer?
I usually get about 24 hours of battery life on mine. I have gps turned off most of the time and I'm on wifi a lot with light to moderate usage. I did notice that if I have the GPS on, that the battery does go down much quicker. I assume that's because it keeps trying to get a location even when I'm indoors and it's having a hard time.
Although, I've read a lot of people complain about poor battery life so YMMV.
It depends greatly on whether data is working or not. Usually, I'll have around 90% battery 2 hours into the day. But if data isn't working, like today, I'll go down to 80% in as little as 20 minutes.
Usually, I'll have around 20% after 12 hours. Been giving it a charge in the afternoon, and it hasn't been an issue.
I use Juice defender, and it does wonders for my battery life.
I've found battery life to be comparable to other Android devices; with effective battery management, mine gets me through the work day. My wife has the Optimus V and I have coworkers, one with a Droid X, the other with an Evo; my battery life is no better and no worse than any of those devices. With any smartphone you're going to have to turn off unused radios and turn down screen brightness if you're going to be away from a charger for a long period of time.

Heavy use is the real killer on the Triumph. With just the screen on (minimal brightness) and network on (bad coverage), I can drain the battery by about 1% every minute. And that's no exaggeration -- Battery Indicator Pro keeps track for me. I'm working on a spreadsheet to help chart battery drain during different scenarios.

Edit: Purchased at Bestbuy, and actually ran into Sprint rep who had one I could look at. We exchanged a few geek tips.
One thing I noticed: I have an LG brand microUSB charger, and the phone would not charge from it when turned on, tho it would charge when turned off. I had an older Motorola microUSB charger and it works fine either phone on or off.
I am getting a whole day of battery life with heavy use. I turned off the background data and turned off all sync. Using the email client with one hour pull with imap instead of the gmail client... Couldn't be happier with the phone...

Yeah, I have also found that turning off sync can get you through the day with less battery used.
Depending on how much I use the Triumph, I can run the battery down in about 2-3 hours (with constant use) or have it run all day long and in to the next day (if I only use it for 1 or 2 short calls during the day.)

I have waited months to post my reviews. I had a Virgin Mobile Intercept and upgraded to this the day after it came out.
Battery life is HORRENDOUS. Not sure how anyone can possibly say its "OK". Sure if you are sitting at home or in the office all day, You can continually have it plugged in and charged. My lighter socket doesn't work in my car ATM so thank GOD I don't drive a lot, and for long periods, I would be SCREWED.
Essentially yes if you turn off GPS, Wi-Fi, Syncing your emails and such, etc etc, then your battery will last longer. But what good is the phone then? I have owned many other androids and they worked for almost a full day with moderate usage with ALL of those things turned on and sync'ing (including Latitude and automatic check-ins). I have lost all of that. I have google talk catching up for hours-old conversations whenever I hit a wifi spot that's saved in my phone.
Juice Defender was my "solution" But it has rendered my phone practically useless for anything besides just having a phone handy when needed. No apps, no moe use of all the bells and whistles that I loved about android in the first place!
I am dealing with it. It just sucks. Sure there are other smartphones with similar issues, and poor battery life, but this has to be possibly the worst or one of the worst. It just is highly unfortunate that this is the case.
Also: Bluetooth syncing works 50% of the time. Constantly have to turn it off and on to get my jawbone(s) to sync. God forbid you answer a call and want to switch over to bluetooth. In those cases it works about 20% of the time.
This is not a good phone for people who are out and about all day or drivers of any sort, unless you have it plugged in the entire day. Forget about using it as a GPS unless its plugged in either, that will drain you battery to 0% in less than an hour.
People say this is due to poor design and rushed to market with crappy signal reception and GPS reception, same with bluetooth antennae. This might be the case, I ALSO have mine suddenly have NO BARS for no reason and I have to power off and on the phone to get a signal back.
ALSO half the time I am out and about and need data connection over 3G, even with bars I get NOTHING. It's very frustrating not to be able to use the phone for what I want to use it for.
I will be getting rid of this puppy as soon as possible and I would do it sooner if I didn't want to avoid a 2year contract.
The good part about the phone is it is MUCH faster and responsive than the Intercept and Optimus. Much better camera (has a flash - FINALLY!) and HD video. Front facing camera is nice to have but of course weaksauce in the resolution dept. Overall A+ for effort, D- in execution.

Juice Defender was my "solution" But it has rendered my phone practically useless for anything besides just having a phone handy when needed. No apps, no moe use of all the bells and whistles that I loved about android in the first place!
I am dealing with it. It just sucks. Sure there are other smartphones with similar issues, and poor battery life, but this has to be possibly the worst or one of the worst. It just is highly unfortunate that this is the case.
Also: Bluetooth syncing works 50% of the time. Constantly have to turn it off and on to get my jawbone(s) to sync. God forbid you answer a call and want to switch over to bluetooth. In those cases it works about 20% of the time.

This post is harsh. But I agree with most of it. Overall, the Triumph fits with a prepaid phone reputation: niggly bugs, poor battery life, poor service quality when compared to a higher end device.
The main problem here is that you'll be totally dependent on the community for real bug fixes. Every phone has bugs. But the bugs on the Triumph affect core usability and are on a totally different level. I would not count on Motorola to fix these bugs. If you're the tinkering type and a patient person, this may be worth it. But anyone who thinks that they are getting "something for free" is sadly mistaken. You are paying $25 a month for cell phone service, which is great . But all these bugs will make you pay with your time. How? Time looking for new roms, apps to fix bad battery life, time wondering why the touchscreen response is poor, time working around the bugs in every day life. If that is fun to you (and it may be for most people on this forum), fine. But you are paying with your time. Lesson learned is not to be so quick to fall for the specs. The company offering the phone and their track record of pushing out updates should play a large part in my decision next time.
I usually have WiFi turned on all day, and sync. I use the phone on my breaks and at lunch. When I get home I troll forums heavily and watch netflix occasionally. Not to mention Pandora for at least an hour per day. The battery will last if I dont plug it in until the next morning. Bottom line is that a lot of these issues can be fixed with quality software, and a battery cycle of 18-24 hours is something I can definitly live with. Compared to my Ascend, the Triumph is soooo much better in battery dept.

Battery issues
I am not sure why a lot of people have issues with battery, I unplugged my phone over 7 hrs ago and right now have 57% battery left, now before you hang your head at this look at my usage:
-Over 1 hour of talktime out of 7 hours.
-50+ texts back and forth
-10+ emails back and forth
-5-10 youtube videos
-5-10 pages of web browsing
-dl and install apps
-facebook at least 2-3 times every hour
And some more fiddling around so basically I have been on the phone non stop for 7 hours and its lost only 43%
That said, most of that usage came from the first 4 hours where it lost 36%(1+ hour of talktime, youtube videos im not really shocked there)
6th hour i texted and browsed etc only 5% battery used.
7th hour I just sent back and forth a couple of texts and only 2% battery used.
All this when i dont use any applications like task killers etc..i just let them run the way they want. Also no wifi, everything over 3g.
so imo if it gives that kind of battery its good enough for me. I was really scared when i bought cuz people were complaining so much about its battery but im fairly surprised. One factor that could be though is that I am not running the GPS, no need for it yet, when I do ill update what kind of usage i got.
I get 23 hours battery life with HEAVY usage and 30 if mostly idle. Many may disagree but if you live or work in a Wifi zone, keeping wifi on and setting it to never sleep greatly INCREASES battery life. 3G radio uses more juice especially if low signal or always searching. If you click on Battery Use and see your "time without a signal" is anything over 20% then you will most certainly see increase on battery life if you leave wifi locked on while in a wifi zone.
Also, side note: I have a 1500mah Anker battery that also increases juice time I recommend it!

23 hrs with heavy usage? Unless yours came with a 2300ma battery and not the paltry 1380ma battery, there's NO WAY you're getting 23 hours under heave usage.
I'm using a 1500mah calibrated battery and yep, its true I leave wifi on and set to never sleep when I'm at home or work. If not, 3G absolutely murders my battery. My phone drops between 3% and 5% per hour.

Well today I am having less luck with battery life. I watched two movies on Netflix and constant Facebook. I unplugged at 10:30am and it is now 4:48pm and I am at 52%.. still using 1500mah battery.

I just came from a Samsung Epic 4G. I have to say battery life it at least the same but probably better on the Triumph. The battery is also quicker to swap out on the Triumph. Between the already better battery life and ability to quickly swap, I'm more than happy.

As horrible as the Triumph batt life is then I'd hate to think how bad the Epic 4g's life was...wow!

could you be more specific as to what you do on your phone? is your phone the international version or the USA T-mobile version.

Tmobile, stock everything and I had the battery issue on my first HOS. I just got my replacement and Im running the same apps, same calls, same eveything as the first phone but i get a significant more battery life. The battery on the replacement HOS lasted me the entire day, but I still carry a charger around just incase.

My TMo One S battery life recently went through the roof for some reason. I can only attribute it to one of the following or perhaps luck:
I've been charging it at end of day regardless of charge but I finally let the charge get below 25% -- I think it got to 15%. Then I powered it down and let it charge 12 hours overnight.
I disabled all Facebook related apps.
Other than that I can't recall anything I did recently that might account for my new super battery. But I'm at 1d 4h 25m on battery -- most of that on WiFi granted -- and still have 42% juice. I'll take it!
I always have my charger because I'm a twitter whore. I recommend disabling any bloat ware or duplicate app like Facebook For HTC or Twitter For HTC. And make sure you change settings for each app you use and don't use.

I'm using my phone very much, with Facebook and games and such, and I still get through the day without hesitate! I think it's wonderful
my battery life was poor on stock rom aswell. went trough a day only. had to charge every day. but now with noble v3 rom and being tiny bit more careful with use i have battery for 2 days
Battery life on this phone is better than most and I give it that. The only problem I have is the quick drop from 100% to 92% in a hour from little to light usage.

I'm on stock Tmo US and have been getting amazing battery life. I took it off the charger when I left for work at 7:30am and I'm at 75% at 8:50pm.
That's with quite a bit of texting, pics taken at work, and 45 minutes of web browsing while I was on lunch. Granted, I don't do Facebook, so that may help.
This is the first phone I've been lazy about rooting because it's worked so well so far.

I get decent battery life as well, but how do you manage only a 25% drop with over 12 hours of on time whic included a bunch of texting which keeps the screen on while u text and 45 min of browsing. Seems too good
I just got my One S less than a week ago. Love ICS. Battery life has been about 10 to 12 hours with medium amount of use. Facebook is disabled. I'm using active sync to sync to my exchange server and push frequency. (that continually goes out but that's for a different thread I guess).
I charge over night as I've done with my Dinc2, original Dinc, and all flavors of blackberry.
Last night I used a digital clock app while it was charging and in the morning at 8:30 where I unplugged, it had 100%. It's now just past 11 in the morning and with email, one short phone call and some light surfing, I'm already down to 62%.
I have noticed the phone is hot which means it's working hard to do something.
I have WiFi off and GPS off as well as location services. Should I return it for a new handset? Should I just go back to Verizon and get an iPhone?? Ugh.

What's your "screen on" time? Have you changed any connectivity settings, that may have increased your battery life a lot?
If the phone is hot then something is running in the background you should probably figure out what that is and disable it before you do anything. Now with exchange servers set up on your phone they do tend to eat some battery. That's universal though. Sounds like to do have a rogue app though. As for me this past Monday I took the phone off the charger at 430am and didn't have to return it to the charger til 11pm mostly because I was going to bed. I watched netflix, text, phone calls, Web surfed.... Love this device.

To you and the other person that asked, I think it really has to do with cell signal strength.
I posted those numbers after coming home from work where I have awesome cell coverage.
Today I've been home all day, and even though I'm on WiFi all day, my cell signal is horrible here. WiFi or not, it's still searching for a signal constantly so I've lost 30% in 6 hours with moderate use.
Now, as I said before, I don't use facebook or friendstream, but I think a lot of it is the radio constantly searching for a better signal.
I also think that either bad signal or just 3G takes a lot of battery.
I switched to 2G only just as an experiment, where I get a good signal almost constantly. This extended my battery life quite a lot. Where I usually had 10-20% left after a full day, I had 50% left with only 2G. I have also been using WiFi where available.
Can this be a software bug since there is such a big difference? I've noticed before that phone calls suck a lot of juice...

2G is known to use much less battery life in every phone you check it.
Take a look at GSMarena on phone specifications in the bottom and you'll see the great difference.
BTW, looking on the battery test GSMArena did for the One S, it's quite in good place for the 3G calling and Video playback but uses a lot of battery on WEB browsing, see here
Might be that we the ones with low battery are more surfing than the others...

Battery Monitor Widget. Logging current consumption is the only way to get to the bottom of the problem.
I'm talking with the author to get the kinks worked out of the One S logging.
*but* for some reasons something is keeping the phone awake at times. current drain is then 70-80mA constant. Not been able to find the culprit, but a reboot helps.

Actually, due to the fact that every time I check the usage of battery screen is in top place (with Auto brightness all the time) and the fact I'm syncing with FB, Gmail, Exchange server and more, I guess the best thing to do is to lower Screen brightness...
