Image Quality - Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi Team,
Good day.
Its been a week that I got this Phone.
Visual appearance and Software looks good.
The main concern I have come accross is the pixelation after taking photos.
No matter you take it during day light or at night..
I have 2 year old Poco F1 phone which captures more clear pictures and when zoomed in doesn't even show pixelated..
Attaching few samples for your reference.
Please let me know if I have received the defective item or quality of the photos is same for you all as well..
Regards
Kishan Singh

Camera photo quality

I've just bought the GEM-702L and I'm a bit disappointed with the main camera quality, even in very good lighting. Photos of things reasonably near are OK, but general scenic shots aren't very sharp at all particularly near the edges, regardless of whether I set it to 13 MP or 6 MP. The pictures look like they're not quite properly in focus. For comparison, the same photos on the Galaxy Note 4 are much sharper, even at the same number of pixels.
What do others think of the main camera quality? Any tips for getting better results? I'd be grateful if you could post some photos you've taken so I can see if they're similar to mine in quality.
I've linked two of my own photos for comparison, both at 6 megapixels, one from the X2, and one from the Note 4.
X2: https://app.box.com/s/8jdqn7gci9sn8nvl78apjzwi90en6qrs
Note 4: https://app.box.com/s/jl7sazpavt637em04vgbww3sudkaj67l
Auto focus is the problem
No replies - maybe this is a bit of a sore point with fellow X2 owners?
Anyway after more experimentation, I've discovered that the problem seems to be with the camera auto focus - it tries to focus too close. Tapping on a different part of the picture doesn't seem to help. However, if I assign focus to the volume keys and manually focus at infinity, scenic shots come out much better. That's not ideal, but it's a simple and easy workaround and so I'm a lot happier. Unfortunately I can't change my poll vote, but if I could I'd put it up one grade from poor to good.
Camera has been very good for me. Photos are crisp and clear
The camera isn't bad in broad daylight but it's not nearly as good as the camera on my Nexus 6.
In good light today and using manual focus I took a number of photos using manual focus and I was happy with the results, unlike the ones I took with autofocus. I've got the 702L, although I wouldn't have thought the camera software and results on the 703L would be any different. I tried using Open Camera, but that didn't help and wasn't able to control the focus.
Does anyone want to share any of their photos taken with the X2?

Here's one I took on my X2 in NY on my way to a camping trip in NJ. The second one is a photo I took a minute later with my Nexus 6. The next two are two I just took in low light conditions in my office. The first one is from the X2, the second from the Nexus 6. The same for the third set of photos.

May I know how you did that? Sounds :good:
Go into the camera settings and look for the "Volume Button Function" option.
Camera Issues
So I know this is an old thread, but I love my phone but the camera just looks like crap. seems like there are bubbles on the lens itself. Anyone else have this issue?

I've never seen that. My camera in both my X2's are not bad. Here's a few I took with my 702L yesterday while looking at wedding venues. It looks like you have some kind of condensation or mold in the camera lens.

Mold might be a bit extreme, but it looks like a bad tint job on my lens, it is the only reason I've thought of getting a different phone.

IMHO it should be the first reason to ask retailer for replacing your phone...

[Completed] Lumia 1520 camera issue

Hi, I've just bought a used Lumia 1520 (about 1.5 years old). The phone's exterior is ok without much issue as well as the Window Phone 8.1 with the Denim update.
My problem is with the rear camera. It seems to not have the sharpness and detail that most user talk about. I'm not sure of the phone's history to begin with as I bought it off from through a middle-man.
Currently I'm using a LG G3 but will be given to my sister soon so I have to get another phone.
Back to camera. Whenever I start the camera, it will always give me blur/ pixelating/ noisy view on the screen.
In my LG G3, it looks so much cleaner and better.
When I took a photo, the full res image, 18~ megapixel one looks bad with all the noise and large pixels appear more often when zoomed in. (Btw 5 megapixel ones are very good)
It might have been with the PureView tech where the smaller 5 megapixel photo use whatever it can salvaged from the large 19 megapixel photo but is it supposed to be this blur and messy, even on this kind of resolution. I would expect to see more fine details and sharper photo but that's not the case here.
This is my first try on Window phone so i don't have much of a hands on knowledge with it aside from playing it for a while at a Window store. Even the cameras on other Window phone does not act like this from what i have experienced. Please forgive me on this long post but I hope that someone can shed some light to this problem. I would gladly provide more information if possible.
(FYI: I can't post the image link yet as I'm a newbie here so maybe in the comments???)

Mate 9 camera quirks

Hi gang,
Took the beast out for some shooting today.
What I love:
The camera software. All the settings, pro-mode, effects and stuff are really nice.
Camera is very fast. Very unlike some reviews claiming this is the slowest camera out there.
What I don't like:
Pic sharpness. Most pics come out with some water paint effect. Backgrounds, distance shots all come out washed. Macro shots are sort of OK but zooming in, washed out to some extend.
So I played around with various settings, differed sizes, all the same free post-processing effects.
I compared with similar shots I look last week with the old LG G4. Well, they are 200% better. Lets hope this is a processing issue that will be fixed with the next update.
What are your experiences?

Don`t forget we are running pre-release software, an update to smooth things up will come soon. Besides that i don`t recognise your issues on my device so far.
I am on B110. Is this a pre-release software?
I have a major complain regarding camera in video. I think is related to the stabilization. Almost all my video in FHD looks like waves. The image is very shaky. This is my second device as the first one was replaced. Anyone else observed this?
I really hope can be solved in an update.

It's not super bad, some shots are OK but comparing apples with apples, the M9 is not on par with other recent top brand products.

Just tested it to see if it happens here too. Indeed when filming the image stutters on the screen (well, it's night here so not ideal conditions) but when playing it it looks nice, no shakes at all. That was at 1080p, 60fps. At 1080p, 30fps it looks smooth on screen and also when playing it.
Anyone noticed that the hdr mode is always on in bright light?
You will get the same picture with or without hdr, and that's something not good at all.
Is there a setting that turn hdr off other than using pro mode?
Just upgraded today to b126 and looks promising just checked it's 6x zoom and it is great

So, i have had mate 9 for 2 weeks now, not impressed, when i compare it to the galaxy s7 edge, it cannot compete, the galaxy s7 edge wins hands down...., also, the galaxy s8 looks to be worth waiting for, march/april release will see a great phone after their note phones needed washing out with water, lol.
Also, i wanted to ask you, i have the MHA-L00 china version and my Hi voice app only works in chinese, as does the music app, can you post and tell me if your international MHA-L29 has hi voice ((assistant app) and music app in english, if it does..., could i ask that you post the apk install files for these apps in english. As far as i am aware, Hi voice app is embedded into the system so may not be possible.
If possible, i wanted instructions to flash the international rom onto the chinese phone?

Well, I couldn't agree more still having an old good lg g3 by the hand for comparisons makes me angry and sad about mate9's picture quality... seriously thinking about selling the-brand-new-two-months-old phone and returning to LG RAW mode looks like the only hope, combined with snapseed it gives somehow sharper and nicer images.... my guess is that default JPG postprocessing seriously sucks hopefully huawei will fix it in some future updates...

I think you're kidding right? There is no way a G3 will come close.
?
Well, the first pic is from the G3, full picture quality, automode, no tweaking
Second pic is from Mate 9 full picture quality, automode, no tweaking.
The V10.... Is resting in peace . Will be getting a MoBo soon from aliexpress and reviving it though.

Doogee mix 2 - camera

Hi guys,
I appreciate that this is a specific Mix 2 question but couldnt see a mix 2 section yet to post in.
I recieved my Mix 2 about a week ago and my first impressions are that its a great phone - it does everything I want....... apart from when it comes to the cameras.
Firstly, the quality is pretty bad and a large step back from the oppo find 7 I am switching from. Both front and rear facing cameras fail to properly focus and always seem to take photos like there is a dirty lens, a sort of soft look, most obvious when photographing text, which just isnt sharp at all.
Secondly, it appears that the second rear facing camera doesn't do anything - is it even real?!? I believe its there for the optical zoom option, but even when you zoom in with the camera app, you can still cover this camera and it has no effect on the photo, therefore it is not used.
Any ideas on how to improve the picture quality? I presume its going to be a case of waiting for Doogee or some developers to take this device on to update the firmware......
Thanks

A new update of the firmware is being "cooked" to solve this problem.
I know that will be released soon.

It would be great... Camera performance is the main issue of the device. On the other hand, all the other features are quite well
Sorry to put this query here. Even i haven't got any place to right it down. I also have a same problem. Rear camera not working. Bought this phone specially for camera specifications. When will be the updates release to make the second rear camera work. Even 8 MP Nokia camera takes better picture than this 16 MP. And there are many bugs. Many apps crashes. And on YouTube I have seen many videos which shows many camera app showing 4k video recording option, but I think that was after update and I still haven't received it.i show that video 1 month back.
New update from company has improved the camera lil bit. But still not a usable one. And it keeps on hunting for focus in video.
From morning all Google apps are getting closed by itself. Please help to solve the issue in mix 2
no updates have improved the camera on this phone for me so far. Taking photos of static images is ok - maybe 6/10, if I use whatsapp to take a photo of anything it always appears very soft and a little blurred. If I try to take a photo of my cat.....no chance, the shutter is so slow, unless the object doesnt move at all you cant capture the image. I do like the phone and previously havent been bothered about camera specs, but that was when all my previous phones could take decent pictures. This might be the reason I get rid of this phone in a few months, it turns out a decent camera is a must for me - I was spoilt with my Oppo find 7, which had an incredible camera

+1 about camera perfrmance, i bought it to do a review and the camera is the worst thing in an otherwise decent phone. I did a comparison with the honor 7x, which has a much better camera at the same price.

Hallo guys, there isn't a procedure to flash Google camera hdr+ on this smartphone o mediatek CPU. I founded everything for Qualcomm but nothing to mediatek.

Galaxy 10e Camera Samples

Didn't have much time today for my 'outdoor session' to try the 10e camera. I took 360 panorama, then I cropped out from the same panorama the next next 3 pics. Not bad.
The next 2 pics taken on my way out. None of these pics were processed in any way, just pure camera eye.

"super night mode" as advertized by Samsung, desperately needed...
Well illuminated building at night and still, not a good pictures, the first one +2/3 up white balance the second pic 'normal auto'.
There is the same subject below taken last fall w/ OP6 - night vision.
....cont'd.
That's OnePlus6, let's hope Samsung will get that night mode right. It should be performing twice as good as OP6, just like the price.
Does anyone have any idea how many megapixels the image is when you switch to "full" mode? the images look better taking up the full screen when showing them on the phone but when I take a picture and post to social media using the standard 4:3 aspect ratio, it appears the images have more/better detail.

4032x1908 - shows in "details" in the Gallery storage.. You get more pic details on your Windows desktop: right click the pic and see it under properties/details.
The original photos are heavily compressed/downsized when posted on the web sites anyways.
