I bought a CAT S61, and it came with Android 8.1.0 and after configuring it all and using it for about 10 days, the system detected the update to Android 9. The system seems to be working in the background and downloading the new version ( + 1GB) as it reported that the update was paused due to low battery! Well I wanted to ask what is the best version, 8.1.0 or version 9 of Android for this phone? I would also have to stop (I'm keeping the phone on low battery so I don't update), cancel this update because I prefer to stay on version 8.1.0 for now. Version 9 of Android I think a lot of artificial intelligence has been introduced in the system and I don't think that's cool.

What you want to do is upgrading existing Android version to a higher version: updating means patching current Android version.
Just got my device yesterday. I came with Android 11 (OneUI 3.1) pre-installed. The Android experience was slow and laggy. I did also do a update (3.1 -> 3.1), but this did not help. I did notice something similar on my OnePlus 7 after the Android 11 update and it has a Snapdragon 855, not this much slower Exynos. So i downloaded the latest Android 10 from SamMobile, flashed it with Odin and indeed, the UI is noticeable more responsive. This is NOT a placebo! Let me know if you did/do experience something similar ;D
Instructions for WiFi only version:
# Warning! All data on the local storage will be wiped! So sync all Cloud apps and backup any local data you want to keep!
# I am not responsable for damage of any kind!
1. Get a free Account on SamMobile
2. Goto https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-P610/#SM-P610 and select your country
3. Grab the latest Android 10 and download (takes about 8 min.) and unzip with WinRar (It's the fastest)
4. Grab the latest Odin https://odindownload.com/ and open the firmware:
- BL_[...] -> BL
- AP_[...] -> AP
- Dismiss CP in Odin
- CSC -> CSC_[...]
- Dismiss HOME_CSC_[...] which is included in your new firmware.
- Dismiss Userdata in Odin
4. Make sure that enough battery is left. Something like 40%+.
5. Shutdown you tablet, press Volume Down + Volume Up and connect your original Samsung USB to your pc. Wait until download more shows up, then you can unpress the keys. Press volume up to continue and press the start button in Odin

I've installed Android 10, set is up and then updated to 11 with the settings method. My tablet is running now pretty smooth... I don't know why this is but for me this worked!
I noticed this as well, I was super disappointed by how laggy and slow everything seemed to be right out of the box! I flashed Lineage and it's so much faster, but I miss the Samsung apps, I'll have to try Android 10!
i had a Tab A7 with Android 10 for testing and even with its lower hardware it was much smoother than my tab s6 lite @ Android 11. kinda disappointing... thinking about flashing lineage but i dont want to miss the Samsung Apps like Notes and the features for the S-Pen since im using this for studying

I would recommend you to find alternatives or solutions for the features you would lose when making the step. Installing LineageOS 18.1 has kept me from ditching my Tab S6 Lite in favour of a costlier tablet - I'm actually quite happy with the thing now, both in terms of performance and battery life.

Hi. Please tell me how you came from stock to LOS? I am interesting how to install TWRP? I tried to install but after installation via Odin i can't boot to TWRP. Pease help me.
I don't know what you are talking about! I have buy the s6 lite wifi with Android 10 on it... I have installed Android 11 when he came out and I don't see and have any problem like that.... Sure is not as fast as my S21 ultra but is perfectly fine for me for this kind of tablet.
Does this break SafetyNet? Will banking apps and Netflix still work?

I have the MTK6889 Note 30 Plus it has a 10 core Processor 1440x1340 graphics 512 gigs storage and 12 gigs of ram dual sim cards micro sd card add on sounds Great Huh? well in there lies the problem it says it comes with android 10 pre installed and it does a custom version of it android 10 and lollyPop 4.1 so what i want to know is can i wipe this phone which is an unlocked phone and install android 11 on it and have a somewhat decent phone because right now it sucks and it even has a 48 mp rear camra and i believe the front is like 13 i really like the phone but because of the way they set it up it does not work right at all like it tells me im running out of storage space when there is over 500 gigs blank and i cant have updated programs because it wont download them saying not compatable its crazy.
Never heard that an Android phone comes with with 2 Android versions installed - as you say Android 4.1 & Android 10 - unless it would be a dual-boot phone.
No its not a dual boot phone but it does have a custom built android 10 whom ever built the phone must have had some things that her or she liked from 4.4.1 lolypop i was going through a bunch of the files and aplications last night and it has lollypops UI or something i just want a normal phone that works with android 10 or 11 i mean this phone has some great properties about it just not the Operating system can you help me set it up better?

Hi FrankL5862,
I'm familiar with the issue, also got a bricked "Note30 Plus" and an also Chinese clone of "S21 Plus 5G".
The Android OS is made into a custom ROM of Lollipop 5.1.1 thats the base Android OS. While they say it's
a Android OS 10 or 11 version they also cheated about the other specifications... You can easely check it with
"Droid Hardware Info" or "Device Info HW" both apps are available as APK-file or in the Google Playstore.
So basicly the smartphone is fake cause of the specs... But it is nice to play around with it and use it to get
more of the control of MediaTek based machine
Can maybe anyone get for me the firmware for the "Maimeite Note30 Plus MT6572" and for the "S21 Plus 5G MT6580"? Haven't found them yet...

did u ever get an answer to this question
Honeywell EDA50 Handheld Computer / barcode scanner
Currently on Android 7.1 from Android 4.4.4 (assumption)
There are 2 versions of this, with and without Google Mobile Services.
I need to free up a lot of RAM to avoid app closures when using the
scanner to interact with very java-heavy pages. To further this effort,
I have already 'disabled' almost everything that I can incl the OEM
chrome in favor of Chromium. Its not enough. This is a 2G/16G device.
The bootloader is supposedly unlockable, but HW support has no
idea how to do it. Original ROM for either 4.4 or 7.1 of either
flavor are not available per HW engineering. Device is End Of Life.
Thoughts / Suggestions?
Why don't you flash the non GMS version instead of disabled the gms app?

Non-GMS is not available as an 'intact' ROM, only ota updates.
Non-GMS updates will not install, likely version conflict. Though I could probably start with initial Android 4.x and progress from there... I would need root in order to do so... And the original ROM image.
You could downgrade the eda50 to android 4.x first. Use the update from sdcard function to do it from stock recovery. After it done, just go back to recovery and upgrade itu to android 7.1 non-gms version. It doesn't beed root or bootloader unlocked. Just try using the stock recovery and sdcard.
In order to downgrade, I need an intact 'whole' rom image. Trying to revert to Android 4.x using an OTA merely results in factory wipe and clean slate start with Android 7.1, gms intact.
Think that I start to look into how to unlock bootloader. If can root, in particular root shell, then perhaps can Frankenstein a version that works but no gms. This just became a possibility after an engineer (at Honeywell) let it slip that nothing special is needed to unlock.
Incidentally, engineer states that if I happen to find a new-in-box version, that app licensing is intact (no charge) for Android 4 platform. It was also mentioned there is a backup rom image stored in the "IPSW" partition but is removed when jump to Android 7.
Now to see if I can find a NIB Android 4 EDA50...
you need to grab
Android 11
/system/priv-app/DocumentsUI ( + oat dir)
and copy it to
Android 12
/system/priv-app/DocumentsUI ( + oat dir)
(apparently PowerAmp's SAF breaks this)
tho magisk NoStorageRestrict module gets around this

i am Totally disappointed..
i am Blaming my self because i sold my android 10 Version phone where i can use any app.. now i have android 12 version phone where only some apps work.
which thing i copy from android 11 ?
Try this
But as stated above
magisk NoStorageRestrict module gets around this
Meaning it does this correctly so SAF (storage access framework) does not break with certain apps
