I'm currently with the latest version. I rooted my Z5 about a month after buying it and some weeks later I installed Xposed on it. Since then I have experienced these problems:
- On the YouTube app I can't watch any videos after watching a certain quantity of them (I haven't done the experiments to know what that quantity is). The only solution is to restart the phone.
- Similar to the previous problem, the fingerprint scanner stops working after some uses. Or maybe it's after a certain time, since once I experimented using it continuously until it stopped working but I stopped at about 30 uses because it was still working. It says the hardware isn't working, or something like that. Again, the solution is to restart the phone.
- The last (maybe) problem is probably related to Xposed or root. When going to the settings and trying to see the apps section, it takes tooo long to load. I do have a big amount of apps, but I feel like it's just to much. The worst part is that when I directly go to an app's settings (without going through the phone's settings and all) it is very slow, like it was loading all apps again
So, do any of these problems have solutions? Or does it only happen to me?
Oh, and I need to address this:
Is there a way to hide the headphone notification? I hate it and hate the fact that Sony put it there just because yes and with no option to disable it.

You can do it with the xosed module GravityBox.
So I got Magisk working on my Nexus 5 and all was well. I discovered automagisk and decided to use it. When I installed it, however, it crashes when I try to scroll through the list of apps. It's odd. I can choose to disable root for the apps on the screen, and I can enter the settings, but I cannot scroll to see the other apps without crashing it. It doesn't function for what I need (Trying to disable for Pokemon go, and I need to scroll to find it) and it's really bothering me. I have paranoid Android installed. I know it's supposed to be a stock rom, but Magisk worked, so why not automagisk? Sorry for making this so long, please let me know if you can fix this. Thanks!
How many apps do you have installed?
EDIT: I've since gone through the motions again using these instructions and all went smoothly, though I'm still left with the bizarre icons despite having followed the instructions mentioned below. I also now understand that the fingerprint system coincides with Samsung Pay, so no-harm-no-foul.
Hi all.
I've probably been out of the root game a little too long. I only root when a replacement phone hits my hands. Recently, my "perfected" S5 took a spill (cracked glass + water damage to charger port) and now I'm rockin' a VERIZON S7 (SM-G930V).
I weighed the root pros/cons as well as my own patience to get it right before opting to do so. Now, I'm left with a phone that is rooted but, well ... a bit on the janky side. I'm hoping the experts here can help me correct/bolster it's behavior.
About my phone: bought yesterday, updated to Nougat, Verizon carrier.
Here are the bullet points as to what steps I took and the result:
Googled around with what care I could to avoid anything shady.
Found a popular XDA thread with "something something auto-root blah" that failed with download mode security message of "recovery" (on the phone's screen).
Moved on to jusmejose's instructions via Google before learning of his championship in the effort.
In following his instructions, the phone FIRST rebooted to recovery but displayed a "no command" error, or something to that effect. It eventually booted into recovery mode but I've no idea if that recovery was his install or not.
Found that many of his "now do this in recovery" menu selections weren't present, such as install->filename and the like.
Went on with his instructions to install the ENG file. Odin: Passed!
Couldn't get SuperSu to my phone ... oops ... not installed so lots of "insecure actions detected" or whatever it was.
Sifted through the information on this page and made use of it's files where possible, LAYERING THE ROOT EFFORT ON TOP OF WHAT I'D ALREADY DONE with jusmejose's information by way of root_with_tweaks, thinking that would remedy the volte + hurricane icons (it doesn't)
... so, here's where I'm at (more bullet points)
I have root.
SuperSu is now installed and working.
I attempted the ADB push fix from this page to remedy the menu bar icons. ADB went through but they're still there.
Fingerprint no longer works.
SetCPU (my goto cpu governor app) doesn't work.
I'm a little in the dark about the stability based on my perhaps bizarre Frankenstein effort.
I'm absolutely, 100% fine with starting from scratch so long as it's all coming from one source that's stable and ready to rock AS OF THIS POST DATE (phone updated to Nougat on May 24, 2017 before rooting).
I wouldn't mind having a custom rom installed, either but the only one I found appears to be from T-Mobile (?)
What would you more experienced fellows recommend I do to "really get this right" and via which threads?
Regards.
I''ve never turned Zen Mode on.
I've disabled it in several places.
Despite disabling it everywhere, if I am on my phone continuously for 2 hours, I get a notification from Zen Mode telling me to put my phone down and enjoy my day.
I don't like that.
I'm rooted
I went into a root Uninstaller app to delete it, but it is considered a "key module"
Because the app keeps a recycle bin, and decided to Uninstall it anyway.
It wouldn't let me.
Uninstall failed.
Any suggestions?

Remove OPBreathMode and it should be gone.
I use the Root Essential program to remove unwanted programs eg. ZEN MODE
Use ADB to disable it
There is an option it Zen mode to disable the notification, no need to mess around with freezing apps and ADB.
Uninstalling system apps is no longer possible in Android 10 without a Magisk Module or through TWRP. Disabling it is much easier
In ADB type the following:
adb shell pm disable-user com.oneplus.brickmode
-- this is zen mode and this command will disable it.
Change from magisk Canary build 19.4 to magisk stable 19.3 and you can delete anything you want.

Imo, do this.
Use the Debloat magisk mod
You can uninstall it.
If you happen to run Into any problems, the Debloat mod allows you to bring the uninstalled app right back the same way you removed it.
Hopefully you won't need to, but it's a good backup in case your system doesn't like it.
Good luck.
Thanks so much guys.
To start I took Eagles advise & DL'd Root Essentials. I went into Zen Mode planning to delete. Was given pause when I saw it was first installed in 2008. Made me wonder what else is in there since Zen Mode is less than a year old AFAIK. So instead I disabled it, since I didn't see a built-in recycling bin to easily add back if needed.
Root Essentials already seems much better than the other one I'd DL'd. Thank you.
I'm gonna do what Sheetzie suggested & use the Deblote Magisk Module in the next couple days. After I've spent 2 hours straight on my phone again to make sure the pause had an affect.

Like I said, I disabled it in several places already. Plus had never activated it.
If you haven't spent 2 hours straight on your phone, you wouldn't experience what is bothering me. After 2 hours it sends you a notification to get off your phone and go play catch outside. Or something like that. I think the message changes.
No amount of disabling seems to make this stop, so I'm trying to get more serious about it using root access. The responses in this thread have been exactly what I was looking for.
The Root Essential app said it disabled Zen Mode...it didn't
So I went back to Root Essential to delete Zen Mode...it didn't. It couldn't complete the task.
So I got the Magisk Debloater, went into the terminal, and deleted it.
Looks like it is really gone. Went back into Root Essential app and I no longer see it.
When I deleted it showed Zen Mode and OPBreathMode to be one and the same as this thread suggests.
Thank you everyone for your help.
I used ADB to first of all disable Zen Mode. Then I used ADB to uninstall it without issue. I am not rooted. It was simple. It is no longer on my phone at all. OnePlus appears to allow system apps to be uninstalled using this method. Whether they will come back at the next update remains to be seen. I am sure they will come back during a factory reset!
On a side note I wanted my Gmail to be available to remove it from battery optimization because it comes from the factory installed as a service. So I uninstalled Gmail using ADB and it worked just fine. I rebooted and it remained gone. I then installed Gmail from the Play Store and it went back to being installed as a service app, not a user app? Not sure why?
Because, logically, you simply can't remove system apps while not being rooted. They will reside on the phone in a kind of dormant state. Not actually "removed".

I cannot argue with your logic about system apps not "truly" being deleted using ADB without root. However, I cannot find it anywhere on my phone. So I am happy to not even see it. Granted, I am not removing certain apps because of storage space concerns, I am removing Zen Mode because to me it is the epitome of BLOAT!

With root he can just do pm disable. No need for ADB.
I used Titanium backup to freeze it.
i also really dislike zenmode
I also really dislike zenmode, I left a comment saying as much on the google play store after i saw it on the update list on google play. I suggest that others also leave bad reviews for this app and maybe it will help get the message across that it should not be forced upon people. It should be optional if it is even bunduled with the os at all.
Background: I'm on a Pixel 3a running the January update (QQ1A.200105.002). Unlocked, stock, rooted with Magisk v20.2. Only using 3 Magisk modules (systemless hosts enabled for ad blocking, YouTube Vanced, and a custom font).
What happened: While cleaning my screen with a microfiber after work a few nights ago, I accidentally launched the SystemUI Tuner. I had created a gesture within Nova Launcher to access the SystemUI Tuner. It launched and toggled the "plugins" setting on & off. Afterward, I cursed myself for not disabling that gesture after I was done with the tuner, and I went to the homescreen. My wallpaper was gone and the background on my homescreen was black. Also, my 2 button gesture navigation was not present and my status bar was gone. I rebooted. This is when I found myself in a bootloop at the "Pixel is starting..." screen (a screen I had never seen prior to this).
Attempts to fix: Through a tip from another user I was able to get back into the phone by disabling my PIN screen lock security via adb. I did this by launching Settings via abd with:
Code:
adb shell am start -a android.settings.SETTINGS
Then I disabled all lockscreen security. I also was able to backup all data on internal storage. The phone boots (sort of) now, albeit without many SystemUI elements (e.g, no gesture navigation, status bar, notification panel, wallpaper, etc.). Still shows the "Pixel is starting" boot screen beforehand. It's unusable as a daily, but I really don't want to wipe and set up all over again if possible. Does anyone know where in /system the settings data for the System UI Tuner is stored? Another user suggested I look for: data/data/com.android.sytstemui.tuner. That directory does not exist, unfortunately. The user experienced this same series of events (i.e., toggled SystemUI Tuner "plugins" and ended up with no wallpaper at the "Pixel is starting" loop). This user tried sideloading the corresponding OTA image, flashing a full system image with "-w" removed to save data, safe mode. Nothing seemed to help. Before I spend hours setting up my phone after a clean install, does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Just wipe data. Doesn't take that long to set stuff back up.

That's all kind of relative to your set-up and how busy you are... I'm an RN with a little kid at home school. Time is priceless. Maybe I should post in the general Q&A and see if anyone knows where that directory might be hiding.

I mean... You knew the deal tinkering with your phone in the first place. It really doesn't take that long and I find myself pretty damn busy all the time. Good luck on your Easter egg hunt finding the directory.
Btw thanks for being front line as a RN during these wild times.

Oh I definitely understand the risk, and I'm more than willing to flash clean and set up again. I was really just posting a last ditch effort to see if I could avoid it. Clearly, a full wipe is in my not so distant future. Thanks for your kind words.
