I use an unlocked Sprint LG V50 on T-Mobile. Has any progress been made on unlocking the bootloader, and if so can VoLTE be enabled?
Edit: I’m so embarrassed for posting this after reading all the threads and seeing the hard work, time, and money already put into this problem. So sorry. I thought a simple adb command could turn on VoLTE...I guess my beautiful V50 will make a nice paperweight after all.

Sorry if I missed this post somewhere. Was considering buying the Moto G from either Boost or Verizon prepaid. I see numerous ROM's for this phone, but was wondering if this phone is still able to be bootloader unlocked/rooted for either carrier (I ask STILL because I got burned on the LG L9 encrypted bootloader on newer models). I did see posts about paying some guy in china to unlock it, is there an alternative? Thanks all!
Hey guys, I'm a complete noob when it comes to phones, so sorry if this is too basic of a question. I don't really know where else to get a direct answer:
My LG G3 (LS990) is dead. Like straight up dead. I made a post about it here, but I'm fully anticipating that I won't be get much help. That being said, I've pretty much resolved in myself to bite the bullet and get a new phone. Now, my LG G3 was purchased through Sprint, and the new phone I plan on getting, the LG G4, will also be the Sprint model.
My question is this: can I use the SIM card in the LG G3 with the G4 and have it be able to make phone calls? Or would I need to take the phone to Sprint and have them activate it?
Thanks for any and all help,
Priest
First of all, I am a noob here trying to get help with a phone I bought off Ebay. I currently am with Verizon Prepaid and thought this phone I bought would work, but the service is shotty.
Phone is an LG V30+ Thin Q running on software US99830b. Model# LG-US998 and was told it was factory unlocked. I hope I am providing enough detail. I have searched and since this is all new to me I want to make sure I get the steps right.
I am trying to get this phone to work on Verizon network, especially Verizon Prepaid if it can be done, because Verizon themselves told me the phone wasn't compatible. I have found some threads regarding this and I think I have the answer, but want to make sure and hear it from the experts themselves.
Thanks so much for your help with this matter.
Anybody?
I have a question that I don't want to just get Google's opinion on.
How easy is it to root most LG phones?
I have tried to root my brother's LG G7 ThinQ, but had no luck getting the bootloader unlocked. I like the idea of LG for myself, but since I was not able to root my own phone (Samsung Galaxy S8 Active) I really want the phone to be rootable. My last phone (Moto G5+) was rooted, and I loved root so much.
I've just been looking at the list of phones LG says are bootloader unlockable, and just seeing if I can find any on eBay.
Here is that list from LG: https://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place I couldn't figure out how it works yet.
Your best bet is to get a LG phone not designed for USA markets, but usually cost more. There are a few exceptions such as ones that are not carriers branded. I am also looking into LG V50 (US Carrier unlocked) but no luck getting the bootloader unlocked.

Okay, that's a good idea. I was noticing that most of the phones on the list were european models. Let me know how it goes with the V50.
I moved this to q/a for you might help you find the answer you need.

Cool, thanks!
Hey all,
My family's looking at switching to T-Mo as my son's in the military and that have a great plan for that. I've always had unlocked OP phones, so the T-Mo variant is new to me. I've seen there's different things you had to do to unlock it.
Is it rootable without the SIM unlock? And the only way to unlock the bootloader is to have the SIM unlocked, correct?
And wasn't there a way to get it unlocked if you're a developer - even if it's not paid off?
Just looking at my options you see if T-Mo would be doable for me.
Thanks!

Applies to the 9 as well.
Honestly man, it's just easier to have the guy on here do it for you. T-mobile seem to be real pricks when it comes to unlocking these phones.
Just make sure to throw him a few bucks cause he will save you a huge frustration

Hello! I have unlocked the bootloader, how to root T-MOBILE ONEPLUS 9! I don’t have boot.img
Bumping
I saw that there's an MSM tool to convert the TMo version to the Global version.
Of course this is after the SIM unlock.
I've done some reading but I'm not sure I'm understanding.
I seem to remember there was something weird about the modems on TMo's version. Does the conversion take care of that so it's all "normal" after that?
And I take it I can unblock the bootloader normally after that too, correct?
I've worked on my son's unlocked 9 and that's all fine. But I'll a little confused on TMo's. Never worked with out and we're in the process of switching over.
Just wondering so I can determine off I'll get TMo's or wait a bit to get the unlocked version.
Thanks,
Super

Absolutely, I could not get them to unlock my 9 despite them doing so on my 7 pro and 8. Something definitely changed and the dude doing helping out on here saved me.
