It used to be when I clicked on a new recents item in the Phone App to view it, the font would change from bold to regular. Recently (November or December 2020) the only way to make the font regular is to actually call the number. This creates a new recents entry for the outgoing call in normal font but the original missed call is still in bold in the history for that number. How can I revert to the original behavior?

Hi,
Does anyone know how to increase the Font size for incoming calls from numbers that are not stored in your contacts for the JAM?
I know that if you have a number stored in my contacts, you can increase int font size/colour/add pic etc..... but when the number is not stored in the contacts, the number is displayed in the normal small font.
So How do you increase the font size for incoming calls that are not in your contacts? Whether it be 'UNKNOWN", "PRIVATE" or a new number???
Your help will be much appreciated.
Hi, try : CallerID/Tools/Options/CallerID Format/Font Size.

Hi, yes that works, but for only numbers that are already stored in contacts!
So my question still stands.... "How to increase the font size for ALL incoming calls (not just for ones already stored in contacts)???
I changed font size in Caller ID (Photo Contacts) in described dialog, but the size of name and number in incoming call bubble is still the same :-( Did I understand this thread well?
Thank for your advices...
I FOUND THE SOLUTION!!!!
follow these instructions and ALL incoming calls will be displayed in Large Font. (or whatever font size/colour you desire)
1) Start> Programes> Photo Contacts
wait a few seconds for all your contacts to load up.
2) Tools> Set Default Photos. THis will bring up new screen with the 3 default caller ID pics. (Unknown, Not-Found and Default) You have to select each one, one at a time and tap on 'Assign'
This will bring you new screen where you can select a pic. (i just used an animated .gif file of a ringing phone)
3) Once you do this, make sure you tick the box "use my font/color settings for caller ID" Then go into the Options and here you can set the Font size for all incomming calls.
There is also an option to preview your settings so making changes are easy.
I have the Font set at 25, Name of caller in Blue, Number in Red. I found this looks and fits best.
4) Repeat step 2 for the other two default and set as you please and you will have the details of all you incomming calls be displayed in your chosen font/colour.
Hope this helps.

Thanks! Ticking this "magic hidden" box solve the problem.
Anyone know whether we can change the font for the preview of incoming SMS?
Look for software called ZoomSMS. It was invented for Eten devices but works well on HTC phones as well.
ZoomSms don't preview automatically...
Of course it does.
i have got a copy and tried...but there is no option to preview.
it will show an icon on the screen and you will have to tap on it
to open the preview of the SMS.
and do u happen to know..how to get rid of the icon and its system
tray shortcut?
thanks..
Look in the phone settings (when you tap on antenna icon, go settings). Check all the tabs there.
thank i manage to hide the tray but still no option to preview Sms
upon receiving. Still need to tap on the mail icon to read the Sms.
So.. they took our ability to change font size within the messages app with the volume key away, and give no way to change both. I.e, I liked having my conversation size Medium and the text that shows on the main page of messages Medium too. Now if you change within the messages app, it will make the conversation size smaller than the other text. Has anyone found a way to fix this? I'm non-rooted.
Just recently took delivery of a Pixel 2. It seems that the text size of my notifications are inconsistent. Some notifications appear as I would expect them to. But other notifications appear with extremely small text. I've played around with all the system notification settings and app notification settings and I still can't seem to figure out why this is happening.
Anyone have suggestions for how to correct this? I'm currently running the December 2018 security patch on Pie.
The purpose of this widget is to make it easier for elderly people to make phone calls and read SMS.
You can download it from the site: https://easyjoin.net/index.html#otherapps
There are various applications like this, but none were as simple and essential as I needed it, so I decided to create one. I share it in case it's useful to others.
Unlike other solutions this is a widget and not a launcher. The widget shows a dial panel, icons to show contacts and SMS and you can have buttons for a quick dial contact and device flashlight.
You can configure the widget from the application.
It is recommended to use a launcher that allows you to remove any other item from the home page and that allows you to lock the home page so as to prevent the person using the phone from removing the widget.
Personally I have used Nova but I would like to know if there are other launchers that can offer the above features in a better way.
The Neo-Launcher home page lock is great and is what I currently recommend.
It needs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or newer.
Uses the following permissions:
android.permission.CALL_PHONE: to initiate a phone call. If you don't give this permission the application will open the default dialer app with the selected telephone number.
android.permission.READ_CONTACTS: to read the contacts to be displayed.
android.permission.READ_SMS: to read the SMS to be displayed.
android.permission.CAMERA: to use the flashlight.

Thanks. I have been looking for a good widget for my mom's phone. I like the clear numbers in boxes. There are a couple of changes that I think will make this more usable. The spaces to the left and right of the 0 button should have star and number sign buttons. Also, isn't the Android hang up button built into the Android calling screen? It seems this widget's hang up button is just for clearing the typed numbers? If so, it would be simpler for a senior to see this visually as CLEAR or something like that, or turn it into a backspace button .
The way I have set up my mom's phone is that her few contacts are shortcuts on the screen so there is no need to see the contacts icon. You have the option to disable the sms icon in the dialing window which is great, but an option to remove the contacts icon would be good to have also.

Also, maybe remove the keep alive service which is just for getting back into the settings? Just have the settings as a one and done when you add the widget since there aren't many options.
Thank you. Simplicity.
Simple and Clean is the way that this dial pad makes my grandmothers phone work.
Update 1.0.1
- Enabled default tick sound on a button's press.
Update 1.1
It has been removed the permission to create a service in foreground and the relative notification.
It has been removed the permission to listen to the arrival of new SMS.
Permission to make phone calls has become optional. If it is not given, the default phone application with the selected phone number will open.
The icons for contacts and SMS are displayed only when corresponding permissions are given to the app.
The contact list is automatically updated when the device contacts are changed.
The icon to cancel the choice of number and/or contact has been replaced by the one with an "X" - it is no longer the one with the handset down.
The icon to close the contact and SMS list has been moved to the bottom.
Update 1.2
The dial and cancel buttons are visible only when a phone number has been typed/selected.
You can set the name and phone number of a contact to get a speed dial button.
It is possible to have a button to turn on the phone flashlight.
For devices using Android M and newer, the buttons and icons you see in the widget depend on the permissions given to the app. For Lollipop and older devices there are switches to decide what you see in the widget.
Update 1.3
You can view SMS and contacts with a smaller font.
Installed but only goes to set permissions screen.
Thanks
