Just bought a Pixel 4a and after first week of use all the interlocutors during calls were complaining about hearing crackling sounds.
So i've tried rebooting the phone, updates are up to date, tried turning all settings of and on again and didn't find a pattern.
If i mute the microphone the crackling stops, also can be herd on speaker.
If i plug the headsets sound stops.
anyone encountered this problem?

Hi everybody
I'm having problem with my t-mobile pulse (huawei u8220) with android 2.1.
When someone is calling me (the phone is ringing), i hear music and after 2-3 seconds sound is very very quiet and have distortion. This is not always, sometimes ringing is normal (so i think this isn't hardware problem, but software problem). The vibrations works well.
When i'm listening music or setting the ringtone sound works well.
Any ideas or something?

I have the same problem with my Pulse. I recently updated to Android 2.1 and noticed the ringtone problem. I have the same symptoms as you, distortion and low sound quality when the sound is ringing. I even tried putting external mp3 file, but the problem occured again.
Pozdrav.
When listening to a WhatsApp Voice Message via earpiece (i.e. proximity sensor) and another message arrives or any other notification, the audio is routed to the louder speaker for few seconds (length of notification audio) then routed back earpiece. So everybody around will hear that audio message.
This is extremely annoying is privacy disaster . Is it happening anyone ? Does anyone know how to solve?
Phone: Xiaomi Mi 5
All roms are affected (even AOSP ROMs)
i face this problem too. i feel that it is not whatsapp's problem but how the firmware handles notifications itself. i may be wrong though
Any thoughts of this guy's?
I have the exact same problem on my Nexus6P for a while. I'm not sure, but I think since I bought it. The same happened to a friend of mine with his Nexus5X. Haven't been able to solve it yet.
My only workaround is to react quickly to take the phone off my ear and resume the audio once the notification ringtone has finished playing.
no luck so far? I wonder how is this tolerated by millions of users? it's quite annoying :crying:
Sound
I got this problem too, but only in LineageOS builds, and I've reported this to the developer of my ROM (Moto G4 Play - Harpia) and he didn't understand the issue. On Pixel Experience ROM there ir no such a problem.
Really hoping i'm not the only one experiencing this issue.
Whenever I make a call using the main microphone (not speakerphone) after a few minutes people say i sound "muffled" or they hear a "clicking" sound. The clicking sound happens just before my mic cuts out entirely and the other person cant hear me until i switch to speakerphone. Oddly enough, switching from speakerphone then turning it off solves the issue for a minute before it happens all over again. Additionally resetting the phone seems to fix the issue for an hour or so. I have yet to try and repeat this error using a VOIP call like FB messenger.
Anyone else experiencing this, or can offer some help?
This is a rooted nexus 5 using lineageos 14.1 (based on nougat) and I'm having sound problems only during phone calls.
The party I call cannot hear me (I can hear them) unless I turn speaker on. Then they can hear me but the sound is garbled and they hear reverberation picking up their own voices back.
Searching for a solution on the web I found
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TxCUKLhMNBM
I changed the build prop they recommended to false and now the other party can hear me fine on (non-speaker) phone calls. ?
But, I still have a problem if I turn my speaker on. When I do that the microphone picks up ambient noise and the other party hears their own conversation back as garbled double sound. If anyone knows how to fix this I would be grateful.
Ideas?
Nobody has any idea how to prevent the mic from picking up and transmitting the phone speaker sound when on speaker phone?
My wife's identical nexus 5 doesn't do this when it's on speaker phone.
hi
just got a new xperia 5. The phone has some really bad audio distortion when video calling with Whatsapp or speaker phone voice calls. It sounds like the audio volume is far too high for the speakers causing lots of crackling and distortion. Its as if a speaker is plugged into an amp that is far too powerful for it. Has anyone else experienced this, or got any suggestions on how to fix it? Or do I need to send the phone back.
I've tried turning off dynamic vibration and dolby atmos, but no difference.
The issue only seems to occur with WhatsApp video or voice calls on speaker phone. It doesn't happen for standard GSM calls even on speaker phone or if playing a recorded message or video through whatsapp. Other apps don't seem to have any problems.
In WhatsApp I can kind of fix the problem by turning the volume down by about 30% but then the speaker volume is a bit too quiet.
