what might be the problem if stable custom roms are crashing with a phone without any hardware issues? - General Questions and Answers

hey, i have a zenfone selfie. zd551kl aka z00t.
it's completely stable with the official rom, no problems at all! but the official rom is old and bloated.
i wanna use one of the pie roms or groovy nougat(because its the most up to date in terms of security patches)
but all the custom roms are either boot-looping or crashing at some random point.
almost all the roms are listed as stable, there are hundreds of users without issues... why am i having this problem?
i tried these roms:
aex pie https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-9-x-aospextended-rom-v6-7-stable-z00l-t.3890825/
groovy nougat https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-groovy-android-nougat-7-1-2-z00l-z00t-jul-2020.3854078/
aex oreo https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-8-1-0-ota-aospextended-rom-v5-8-dui-z00l-t.3821102/
lineage pie https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-unofficial-9-0-lineageos-16-0-z00l-z00t.3839590/
rr nougat https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-official-z00l-z00t-7-1-2-resurrection-remix-n.3509698/
rr marshmallow https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-official-z00l-z00t-6-0-1-resurrection-remix-m.3355391/
rr pie https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/9-0-resurrectionremix-rom-z00l-z00t.3906813/
and a couple more...
tried opengapps mindthegapps and nikgapps... also without any gapps...
oreo and pie roms are mostly bootlooping with any of the gapps. i can boot if i don't install gapps but still unstable, crashes and restarts at some random point.
nougat roms are a bit better, i can boot with gapps but again, random crashes...
the most stable custom rom i've ever tried is rr marshmallow (ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.7.4-20160923-Z00T-OFFICIAL) but still crashed 5 times in couple hours...
random crashes are mostly when i'm installing some app or starting some app... if i leave it idle and sleep, i can see over 10 hours of uptime when i wake up. but if i use it, crashes in minutes...
also tried flashing stock recovery and going back to the latest stock rom then flashing twrp wiping everything and installing custom roms again. didn't help.
this is a logcat from bootlooping aex pie https://pastebin.pl/view/287ed405
is there anything that i can try?

Nougat Custom ROM

Good day everyone, I'm currently running Lineage OS 14.1 on my Honor 8, and the only problem I have with it is the recurring reboot happening every 30 min or so for no reason. The ROM is surdu's.
I'd like to switch to a more stable ROM even with missing functionalities (Bluetooth, fps...) from my current setup.
I tried a couple ROM already but as I flash them through TWRP they send me an error 7.
Before I flashed I tried doing nothing. I tried clearing cache. I do not wish to randomly try factory reset as it caused problem to me before.
Is that because I'm running nougat ? Or because I did something wrong to switch roms ?
Do I have to rollback to marshmallow and flash a new rom ?
Thanks for you by advance for your answers.

No Sound | LineageOS 15.1 | SG Note 3 (SM N900W8)

Hi...
So as of last night my phone doesn't have sound. I've been flashing roms/gapps all day yesterday and today I figured I'd settle on a rom for now given that my model is sparse for roms that actually work.
Having no sound started with putting LineageOS 15.1 on my phone (Oreo) which was working previously so I don't know what happened, so I tried to flash LineageOS 14 / CM 14 (individually) on my phone and LineageOS worked but without audio and I believe CM 14 either kept crashing and/or also had no audio. I then flashed Resurrection Remix Oreo for my phone as I remember in the past the audio worked fine, again it doesn't.
Before the events above, like I said, I had been flashing numerous roms on my phone, lots of the roms either worked for a few minutes and while updating Google Play they would crash or the rom would be stuck at its boot screen.
I've also been flashing a modem on my phone, through Odin, because some Kitkat and Lollipop roms I got didn't have working WIFI. I noticed with that, that the roms would work for a few minutes then crash (maybe because I was trying to use a 5Ghz network?)
I was also trying to flash custom kernels and even though they would say they flashed successfully I'd be stuck at the boot screen that said "Samsung Galaxy Note 3" with it also saying the Kernel or Recovery isn't SEandroid Enforcing.
(I've also been switching between TWRP 3.2.1.1 and 2.8.7.0 because roms with "Aroma installer" would crash TWRP 3.2.1.1)
I'm quite the novice at all this, and maybe it shows? I'd just like my audio back and it's quite evident that flashing roms isn't the solution I had hoped it to be.

LineageOS or other ROMS - Samsung Galaxy S7

[SM-G930F]
I flashed LineageOS in early 2018 and I'm still using it, but those updates get sometimes stuck in TWRP.
I had to wait for the battery to ran out (I think force-rebooting isn't save while updating the ROM) etc. On my first install the GApps broke my alarm app (I still haven't repaired it, but my S7 is in daily use), the phone got laggy at some games - and - suddenly the screen froze and the hw buttons were blocked. And my external SD card is now corrupted, too.
But root access is working fine, and LineageOS has some little additional features.
Do you guys can tell me what's better:
Installing those updates anyway and always make tons of Nandroid Backups
OR
Full factory reset, TWRP update, new ROM (like Resurrection Remix OS or similar), ...
What do you think?

With any custom ROM update you have to decide if you really need the updated part of the ROM. Often if the ROM is working fine for you there is no need to keep updating it. Before i update a ROM i read what bugs the update is fixing and if i don't really need that fix then i don't update.
ROM's such as Lineage are forever updating because so many people are working on it but the official stable version ended with Nougat (7), so now we have unofficial Oreo, which will require lots of tweek's and updates to get rid of all the bugs. Lineage is a good ROM but there are others which are stable clean and don't need updating so often,

Are there any custom (10?) roms for the single sim FN variant that RIL and calls work

Have tried a few, havoc 2.9 DID work, upgraded to havoc 3.x and that had no signal, went back to 2.9 and that wont even start now. It boots but then every 5 seconds the screen goes off so I cant even get past google log in. RR pie works but has no signal icons which is really annoying even though signal works. CRdroid pie has no mobile network at all and a few 10 roms had no mobile network either.
Am I stuck on RR pie then? Or should/do I need to do something on these roms? I cant get GSIs to boot as I cant roll back to stock oreo. I usually use magisk and edexposed if that matters.
Ta
All Android 10 custom ROMs except Lineage OS have vendor related problems, which causes single sim variant not to work.Wait for new update..

Periodic Wifi reconnect with any A11 Custom Rom (but not OOS)

Hi there,
Yesterday i decided it would be time to upgrade my old Syberia 3.9 + microg install.
I thought it would be best to start with a fresh OOS installation, so I used the MSM tool to install OSS 10.3.7 and updated it to 10.3.12 OTA.
After successfully booting Syberia 4.9 I discovered that my Wifi periodically reconnected every second or so which made Wifi completely unusable.
I thought it may be a Syberia issue so I went back to OOS 10 and the issue was gone. So I switched to dotOS 5.2.1 and after that to Havoc OS 4.12 but couldn't get Wifi to work properly.
Rn I'm on OOS 11 which again works without any problem.
What am I missing? How do i fix this issue? I really don't want to use OOS + gapps....
I'm on LineageOS since a month (A11), and I've been experiencing the same thing. Every week or so, this issue occurs. A reboot resolves it, but it's still annoying. Never had anything like it on OOS though.
