Auto brightness inconsistent - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Questions & Ans

When I have auto brightness on, sometimes the brightness suddenly goes up very high then drops back to normal.
Sometimes it's the opposite it gets very low then back to normal.
And sometimes it doesn't go back to that sweet spot it was at.
It stays a bit more bright or less bright than it were.
It's really annoying.
This is of course under the same light condition.
In a couple of circumstances:
The device was still on the table.
Holding the device with one hand from the bottom under a blanket.
Gaming in landscape mode with both hands.
Does anyone have this issue, a software issue maybe?
or is it possibly a hardware issue with my unit?
I don't even know where the ambient light sensor is on the poco f2 pro.

Happens to me too. But it's still better than my old RN5 - there the auto mode is useless, always too dark.

Hello
I have same problem
Ambiant sensor is on the flash led, you can see two leds for camera and the third is the brightness
This device is very bad for this feature, same for the proximity sensor, under the screen and poor efficiency, screen Lights up again during call

Yup same with proximity here
But as for the ambient light sensor it turns out there is not one but 3 (2 on the front side and one on the back)
Xiaomi is calling it 360° ambient light sensor.
It's supposed to be one of a kind.
Only the poco f2 pro has this.
But apparently it is poorly implemented.
The hardware is pretty capable but software needs a lot of work.
Hopefully this gets fixed in future updates.

Yes I saw this so called feature, But I think it's bull****, there is only a sensor on the back, hence the fact that the screen turns off when you put the device on a table..
Under the screen, with the sun you can see the hole of the fingerprint sensor, the hole at the top of the proximity sensor, and the touch screen, nothing else
I think it's a bogus feature, a bit like some devices where you realize that one of the photo sensors is just a dummy

Light Sensor not functioning well

Hi, the light sensor on my TP is not as sensitive as it was before, i used the sensor test utility and it reads dark in fair light, and it barely changes values when moving from outdoor to indoor..... my screen protector is partially covering the sensor, i removed it completely but same result, is there a utility to adjust the sensor......... please help
Also having this problem, the light sensor doesn't seem to function at all..
Same here, my sensor doesn't seem to work from what I can tell (is it next to the speaker at top?).

Yes thats it.
Is there any information about an upcomming firmware update by HTC? i'm having troubles with loads of bugs atm..
the only time i noticed this problem was after installing PocketShield http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430541 .... but im sure i did not have this issue before.
I have had 3 touch pro phone's now becuase i had some issues with the screen, but all of the phone's that i had had the same problem with the light sensor, it just doesnt word properly.
We need a rom update!
Try one of the bubble level programs from over on the Diamond apps forum. Sorry I don't know which one and i don't have time to try right now, but it has a light level meter that show how many ansi lumens the sensor is registering.
Just put your finger over the sensor and see if the display dims, then remove your finger and see if it brightens again.
This test works fine on my TP.
not that much result here..

used to work, but not anymore.... i can only notice the screen change when moving from indoor to direct sun light
Go to battery options and turn the light sensor off. You'll see immediately that screen will light up. Turn the light sensor on again and the screen will darken

Indicator Light on the Speaker

Hi Guys
Does anyone know what the indicator light that is inside the recessed area for the front speaker for? I have never seen it light up, and have no idea what it's supposed to be used for.
Thanks!
the ambient light sensor
It's a light sensor.. this question allready covered here.
The display's backlight auto-adjusts (can be disabled tough) with the help of this light sensor
HAHA. I can't tell you how many times I looked at my phone trying to think of where the light sensor is. I heard that light described as an actually light, that blinks for certain occasions.
try searching next time
but...you are talking about the light sensor. the notification light is around the dpad

[Q] Light sensor, how to disable it?

how to disable light sensor for optimus 3d?
You mean the light sensor that controls the brightness of your screen or the light sensor that detects when you are in a call and turns off the screen?
I'm pretty sure you can disable the first one by just turning off Auto Brightness. The second one can't be disabled as far as I know.

Well, I was also wondering because when you turn the phone in talking position but away from your ear the screen is still on, when you get close to the ear the screen get off right away...
Can you change the delay on the proximity sensor at all? When I move the phone away from my head it takes a good few seconds for the screen to come back on meaning it takes me about 5-6 seconds at least before I can hit the end call button.

Proximity sensor issue

As I unbox n started using my brand new Samsung S8+, i am having this popup re the proximity sensor being blocked or something. Is this a firmware issue or hardware issue? Thanks if anyone is willing to entail their story re this matter, any fix would be of good help. Sorry if this question is being raised in this thread.
The proximity sensor is left to the earpiece, and right to the IR LED (the red IR sensor used with Iris scanner).
Is that area covered with anything? Screen protector, dust, whatever?

I find this popup whenever I take the phone out of my pocket. So because of that the proximity sensor is blocked? Its covered by my pocket. But what is the solution. Its draining battery.

That's odd, can not replicate.
Not an issue with software or hardware and its not draining your battery, LOL. It's a feature mate. You likely have "Keep screen turned off" enabled in your display settings. It uses your proximity sensor to turn off the screen for you if it senses that the phone is in a pocket or bag. I think it will throw up a dialog box if it gets triggered, that's probably what you're seeing.

Verizon LG V50 Proximity sensor problem... maybe

Greetings.
I just picked up the Verizon variant of the V50 and have a question, hopefully someone with a V50 can help me out. My proximity sensor, which is supposed to only be active during phone calls to shut off the screen, seems to be responding to darkness. If I'm in a lit room and the screen is locked, the phone shows the "Always on Display" like normal. However, if I turn off the lights, the screen goes black, the fingerprint sensor does not respond to touch and I have to press the power button multiple times to get the screen to activate. If I turn the light back on in the room, the AOD comes back on and the fingerprint sensor responds to touch.
I took a trip to my local vzw store hoping they would have a V50 on display to test this since I don't know if this is a phone feature or a defect. I'd hate to go through the hassle of swapping phones only to have the new one do it too.
I do have a screen protector on the phone but it is not covering the proximity sensor.
Can anyone with a V50 test theirs to see what happens and let me know? I'd appreciate it.
I just tested this on a Verizon LG V50. Almost pitch black while on a call:
- Screen blanks when I put it up to my ear
- Screen lights up when I pull it away.

Mine works fine when I'm on a call, it's when I'm not on a call. What if you have it just sitting on a table and you turn off lights and make it completely dark in the room? Does the aod turn off or stay on?

Or try this. Have it sitting face up on a table with the AOD on and put your finger over the earpiece/proximity sensor area. Does the display turn off? Mine does and I don't think it should. My V30 didn't.

Sorry, it was late when I responded and I neglected to mention that.
When not on a call, in pitch black, covering the screen doe not blank it out. Only when on a call does it blank when you cover the proximity sensor.

I appreciate your help. What about in regularly lit room? With phone showing the always on display, if you cover earpiece area, does display turn off or stay on? On mine, just sitting on a table in a lit room, and it's showing the clock on the aod, if I cover the earpiece display turns off. Sounds like I might have a defective device.

OK....Let me apologize once more. I missed the AOD part.
AOD turns off when covered regardless of light or dark environment. You want this to happen. The regular home screen does not blank except during a phone call.
You want the AOD to blank such as putting it in your pocket. This is an OLED and they burn. I have a Galaxy S8 where you can see that I used Waze a LOT. I would say that this behavior is normal.
Sorry about the confusion and missing where you asked for AOD.

No problem, thanks for your help. Can I ask one more thing? With the AOD on, with phone sitting face up with no obstructions anywhere and you make it pitch black in the room WITHOUT covering or touching the sensor. Does the AOD stay lit up or turn off?
In that scenario the AOD stays on.
Went in to a room with AOD on. Turned lights off....AOD stays on.
Turned the lights back on and then off to test. It stayed on.
As soon as I cover the proximity sensor with my hand, it turns off.

I have the same problem. And I have already discovered that it is clearly a failure of the proximity sensor since with a sensor testing application it tells me that I have an obstacle 0cm from the screen. Have you managed to fix it?

Try this. Ensure there is no screen protector over the selfie camera. Either cut a relief or use a pre cut protector for v50s/g8x. It worked for me.

Well this is most common issues with low level refurbs.
Please use this App - it will fix the issue.
