I wondered if anyone knows of a way to 'repair' the system files on a fully locked Windows Phone without wiping the phone?
I've got a problem on my phone, which I've posted in various places but had no help with yet.
I'm on a Lumia 620 these days. It's a troublesome little thing, but I suppose it is new and teething so I'm sticking with it.
Thanks loads for any help!
My dear friend...
If you need to repair the system files it's because you have an unlocked one and started to play with some files or an update failed.
but since the phone is "fully locked", full flashing is the solution...
My advice, get rid of the official ROM and install any custom that can work with WP Backup, that way you'll have a backup to restore apps and its respective data to the phone, if you do a hard reset or change the ROM you can set your phone the way it was before the change.
WP Backup only work with customs...
Any help about the use PM me.
Remember, goodbye official ROM, HELLO CUSTOM...:good:

It's brand new, unmodified, and never been updated. It may surprise you to learn that files can be corrupted because of file system errors.
And also that you can't unlock Nokia WPs or WP8s.
And that resetting is quicker and easier than re-flashing.
And that I asked about repairing the system files without having to do either. Obviously I know I can reset since I mentioned it in my post.
So well done. A really outstanding reply. So good that I didn't finish reading it. I'll skip the PM thanks.

your on a Windows phone 8 phone and that isn't unlocked/hacked in any way.
sorry to say this to you but there is no way for you to mod/fix System files on a unhacked phone
this means that you Need to do a Hard reset or Flash a new stock Rom (when possible)
So Mr. "PERFECT"...
You ask, and then you insult...
Why don't you sell that phone and get an android, since you are whining about WP, also the post is another idiotic misplaced post, since you have WP8, you have a serious sight problem: "Windows Phone 7 General" <-- This rings any bell for you?
you're asking about WP8 on WP7, you are incredibly "perfect"
I don't really care if you don't like my answers or if it helps you or not at all; next time don't even ask, since you already know the answer and you like to ask only to bash anyone who tries to give you help.
Someone please please help me. I am in desperate need of a solution. And before I lay out the issue I am having, I would like to thank everyone for taking their time to read through my post and give their input. I truly appreciate it everybody. Much much thanks.
Just as a disclaimer, I've looked all over the internet, everywhere I can possibly find for days on end, and none of what I found worked for me. It feels like I tried everything there could be, and that is why I am coming here. Again, thank you.
So here's a little background information: I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545). I got the phone over the summer, and as soon as I received the phone I was updated to the apparently dreadful VRUMAE7 update. There afterwards, I tried rooting the phone. I've had rooting experience before with decent success, and never ran into problems like I did. It took awhile for me root my S4, but after awhile I was able to successfully root it. Although, I'm pretty sure I may have done something wrong. You will see why shortly.
So a week or two back, my S4 prompted me to update to the next update. I believe it was Android 4.3 (VRUEMJ7). I was very excited for the update and tried running it. But every time I accepted the update and tried updating, my phone went into Recovery to download the new update and stalled out with an error. Thereafter I would have to reboot the phone to get it working again. After failing to update multiple times, I realized that it is probably because I messed up my root. So without doing much research, I simply tried flashing the stock firmware that came with my phone thinking it should work pretty flawlessly.
I have a Mac OS, so using VmWare Fusion with Windows 7, I downloaded Odin and booted up my phone on Recovery mode, downloaded the stock VRUMAE7 firmware I found online, and began flashing. But Odin threw me a error, so I tried rebooting my phone thinking it would go back to normal. BUT this time, it kept going into recovery mode with a yellow Triangle saying firmware was installed incorrectly, etc. I was so frustrated at this point, thinking that I truly may have bricked my phone.
I began on this long journey of going through all the sources I could find online possible, downloading every type of Verizon S4 firmware I can find, trying every Odin method possible, and spending long long hours of the night biting my fingers at my dreadful fate. I even tried flashing the stock PIT File along with my stock firmware, to see if that would fix it. But no luck. I also tried using a standard windows machine rather than VMware, still with no luck.
I ask you all to please suggest any ideas, thoughts, or inputs you possibly can. I am willing to try anything and everything at this point. Please do help. I appreciate you guys reading through my lengthy question, sorry for that. Just wanted to lay everything out.
Thank you very very much.

Hi there,
it seems an easy problem but do it at your own risk I don't take responsibility of bricked device, etc
so lets go with what you need:
A- Odin [I believe you already have it]
B- stock rom go to this site:
androidayos.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-odin-stock-firmware/
and choose the suitable stock rom based on your Baseband version
C- Drivers installed for your device [if your mac/laptop recognizes your device then skip this step if not google it,download the drivers and install them]
IMPORTANT:Make sure you have 80% or more on battery
after you get these stuff install the device drivers as mentions in C then turn your device off and power it while holding volume up it should take you to download.now open odin and navigate it to the rom which you downloaded from B and flash it .wait for green color to appear and your back to your stock now it should open normally hope that I helped
OK so, I'm not a super noob but I'm also not an expert so I may understand certain terms.
Thank you so much for reading this and this thread is awesome because like me people out there really need help.
Really appreciate the work done here.
I usually follow you guys tutorials and stuff and always manage to come out successful without making a post like this one.
But I got to tell you this phone got me beat.
SO here we go.
I purchased a chinese mobile device, specifically a Tethin TX300 and after messing around with it I changed permission to the system/app folder and now it's stuck in a boot loop. Can anyone help? Any idea would be appreciated. Thanks
Isn't it possible to access the recovery on the phone to do a device reset?..
Thank you for your fast answer. Yes it is possible to access recovery mode. I have already tried to do a factory reset/wipe data but that didn't help. Any other ideas? Is it possible to restore permissions using adb ? Thanks
Hi guys, I'm pretty new to rooting so tell me if i need to give more info etc cause I know i can be a bit vague.
So I rooted my phone no problem via the all in one kit thing and installed cyanogen, but this was right before the big android update so I wanted to switch back and update to that, but somewhere along the line i got rid of all the Roms (I think)
The stage it's at now: I can boot normally but the startup wizard fails, I assume this is because the stock operating system isnt hooked up to run, regardless I can't find a copy or figure out how to run it. (before my TWRP seemed to stop running on startup)
Bootloader: I don't know how it ended up relocked after I'd unlocked it but am guessing that is why i cant access the custom recovery at the moment (twrp)
If anyone is able could you walk me through, or point me to a guide to show:
How to unlock a relocked phone,
How to get a Stock version of Android (anything after 4.0 I guess because it will auto update?) running on there
Tell me if I'm being dumb in any part of this (apart from pissing about with things I don't understand, haha)
OK, So i'm unlocked and back onto TWRP, that was easy though, What I do need help with is working out how to install the factory Operating system again, last time I tried that is what caused the relocking etc so any help would be amazing.
Thanks, Simon

Sorry yes, meant to close this post now that this particular problem was kinda sorted but didnt get round to it last night. Unless you know a way to get the correct firmware for the wifi? Just seems strange it'd update wrong.

No, I don't.
I consider this [Completed] and have thread closed.
So i followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqhdq_A47DY&feature=youtu.be
I did exactly everything he does in the video, but i always ended up with the same error upon booting.
It would say something like "verification failed. unable to restart your device. the integrity verification has failed.you need to reset your device to factory default settings."
I tried the method multiple times but the same error shows up.
Any idea what could it be? Thank you!:good:
Shouldn't have done it. The phone is less than a month old and you are expecting everyone to have everything for it. Congratulations on having a brick.
Hello andresg97,
have you tried to follow the instructions as shown in the TWRP Thread?
At least you should be able to boot into recovery, from there you can install TWRP and the the only thing you need to get a working phone back is a ROM, the Renovate ROM works fine for me.
The Tools and ROM I mentioned:

I have to say I am somewhat surprised at your post. It does not reflect the general attitude that is usually so prevalent in this forum. I wonder why you even posted. All you did was condemn the guy for having tried something without offering anything supportive beyond your comment - "congratulations for having a brick." It would have been better if you just kept your thoughts to yourself if you don't plan on offering anything constructive.
Bricking a samsung device is actually pretty hard to do - and most issues can be overcome. Obviously some bricks are real bricks - but usually via Odin, there is a way to at least return the phone to full stock before either giving up or trying again.
Sorry, I don't mean to harp on you - but I just get frustrated when I see such negativity without any offer of help or support. Hope you never end up in a similar situation - and if you do, I hope whoever reads your post treats you better than you treated the OP.

I understand.. I must be furious at that moment how somebody could possibly do something to a brand new phone. I am sorry though, will keep my opinions to myself, if they aren't constructive.

The only thing he shouldn't of done was follow a youtubers guide on rooting, all they do is read xda and make a video of it, should of came here first and asked questions, next time he'll know.

hello!
I had the same verification problem you had, and followed these steps to solve it.
I have wiped my s8, and flashed as well as initialized TWRP on my phone. Now in TWRP recovery I'm trying to transfer the Renovate flashable zip, but every time I try to transfer the file the transfer fails. Doing it by drag n drop in windows the transfer freezes midway, and then the connection to the pc is cut, and I have to reboot the phone to reestablish it. After that I have a corrupt zip in like 70 % of the actual size.
Doing it by push command in ADB gives me an error saying my device is out of space after transferring around 60-70%, even though there's ~52 gb free space.
Do any of you have any idea why this happens? I'm able to transfer other, smaller files to the phones internal storage. Is there some setting limiting what I can transfer?

It doesnt work for me either... My first initial attempted install of twrp gave me a pass but the phone would not boot into twrp. It is stuck at the galaxy S8+ logo... I can boot into download mode and thats all... holding the power bixby and volume up buttons does nothing. I have tried to flash twrp several times now and keep getting a fail in odin. I have also tried flashing a stock rom several times as well but odin fails at that too... followed xda giudes for both procedures and no luck. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated... Thank You
Hi all,
I found this thread because I did the exact same thing.
I flashed TWRP via ODIN, and came up with that screen about data not being verified, only option was to click "Erase".
Thankfully, I powered down the phone, booted to Recovery (Samsung), and displayed:
"Appling Multi-CSC-, applied CSC-Code : TEL (Telstra Aus) blah blahblah..
Successfully verify for dmverity hash tree."
Rebooted, and all was ok again..
Nearly passed out from shock though.
I did a Helium backup of my app data, but not the other files on my phone, which I am doing right now!
Still not sure what I did wrong with flashing TWRP though. It flashed fine...

Sounds like you didn't wipe data or flashing the dm-verity disabler. Look here for more info https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72004368&postcount=3

Hi all,
Please help me to root my s8+ through TWRP. Every time when I patch this via odin my phone says 'unable to restart your phone. the integrity verification has failed. you need to reset your device to factory default settings. this will erase all your data.'. I have thoroughly read this thread but nothing resolve my issue. I have the exynos model purchased from UK.
