Dear all,
I received a MID X5A tablet as a present.
Since I don't use it much, I'd like to resell it.
I'd like to perform a factory reset so that all my data
are wiped out, but trying the Settings-->Privacy-->Factory Reset
doesn't work (it is a known issue for this kind of tablet).
I'm looking for an easy solution to wipe the data and uninstall everything.
I've read that probably the easiest way it is to re-flash the Android 2.1 Rom.
But if there is any faster and easier method I'll gladly like to know.
Can someone help me with this operation?
I need to do it using adb or fastboot since on my computer
I have Ubuntu.
Also I have no idea where I can find the right rom and how
to install it from the scratch.
I searched extensively on google and on various forums
but all the solutions I have read or don't work (or rather I'm not
able to make them work), or are a bit ambiguous.
I'm a newbie so I'd need a clear guide.
I know it can be risky to perform such an operation.
But I really think if you never try to make such things you never learn
also I really don't use the tablet, so broken or un-selled it's quite te same to me I promise I won't blame anyone but me if I mess things up!
Thanks a lot for your help in advance,
Cheers, -Luca
Hi Guys,
My friend bricked his phone some how (he's using the htc one s on tmobile) and I myself am using the evo lte, thought i could be of some assistance, but I'm stuck as well...wonder if you guys could help me help him lol.
so I performed the tasks on post #8 from on how to "fix soft-brick" in the sticky, but being able to only access bootloader, and twrp recovery Im at a stall. While in recovery, i go the the options to mount, it won't mount my usb so that i can bring over a rom to flash in recovery. So my problem is that the phone won't mount to my computer so i can bring over a rom i downloaded on my computer to the phone.
if i reboot system it sticks at the htc develop splash page.
Im pretty stuck and hope u guys can me help my boy.
P.S. i told him next time when you flash, always make a backup....cuz he was trying to flash a jelly bean wip (i don't even think it was a rom for his phone).
Thanks in advance guys!
bump, anyone kind to help me out with this?
Thanks again, hope to help him out, but Im at my wits end because i keep on getting running into the same problem.

You're going to either need to push a rom to his phone using ADB, or perhaps flash an RUU using Fastboot. Are you familiar with either process? There may be other options, but I'm familiar with both of these scenarios and can at least point you in a direction. Lemme know!
Yeah ADB push is your best option right now. IIRC USB mount in recovery does not work due to kernel limitation. (I could be wrong but remember reading about it)

I agree with him, I kinda had the same problem your friend had and adb pushing a Rom is probably your best option right now...

Thank you very much guys, I am not too familiar with pushing thru adb but have been reading up on it through the development section and am ready to dive in.
I very much appreciate the input fellas, will keep you updated with the status of this so that others in this situation can benefit from this as well.
Thanks again!

Ok guys, heres the update as promised. Mission to restore was success!
First, I tried to push thru adb, but it would never stick, would always get hung up. Given, being my first time pushing thru adb i probably did it incorrectly. In fact, I managed to push the rom over to the sd card once, but was unable to flash it from recovery (CWM).
Here is how i fixed the problem of being bricked. I relocked the bootloader, using the "all in one kit" and then i downloaded the TMOUS RUU, booted the phone into bootloader and then ran the ruu's exe. Within 10 minutes it was back to bone stock.
I hope this helps fix others with the same problems, if you guys need any help, feel free to hit me up.
Thanks guys for the suggestions and pointing me in the right direction...I couldn't have done it without your help!

Hi all!
So I downloaded Android 6 from Googles site and manually updated and of course the phone was wiped! And today I remembered I had a lot of photos from our vacation and of the kids (when my youngest was born etc) and whatnot that got lost as well Is there any way to recover these? I've tried looking for guides on here, but the ones i found that were kind of relevant are old ones and links to files that was needed is dead.
If it is possible, could anyone please point me to a good guide and tools needed? I'm really hoping this works. I screwed up
Thanks in advance!

try this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
i never recovered data so i can't help you any further with that process so if you have any Qs ask them in that thread so proper people can help you
btw it's not easy process it's very advance process and require step by step implementation so follow that guide properly ( it requires rooted phone and basic knowledge of rooting..and as Marshmallow is new rooting process is not that easy..you can find how to root Marshmallow in general section)
& in future always take full backup before you change anything manually
Thank you very much! Appreciate it!
I was gonna root it, but thought it was like before so I did the chainfire auto-root without reading. Thought I had bricked it. First it got stuck on the boot screen for a couple of hours, then after I got it off, it wouldn't turn back on. But after a while i finally got it in recovery mode and flashed again. Let me take a look at this new method.
I'm pretty good at following directions, so hopefully I'll be good this time around
Thanks for a point in the right direction. I'll ask over there if I get any issues.
Hi guys, I'm a new user here with sooo much help needed. I'm looking for a solution regarding my phone.
My phone model is Alcatel OneTouch Magic.
The problem is that when i switch it on, its stuck on the logo screen. I remember this phone is infected with something that causes ads to appear on the screen.
Anyway, I dont mind losing all the data inside, so long as this phone is fixed. I'm able to boot into system recovery mode if that helps at all, I've tried factory data reset, wiping cache partition, and its still stuck so yeah.
Searched around the web, most suggest flashing a new rom, and i need someone to show me a step by step guide on how to do that, because I'm not too tech savvy. Flashing a new rom, restore a stock rom. whichever it is, I dont mind. as long as I'm able to use the phone.
Thanks guys hope you can show me where I can find solutions to this problem.

Hello and welcome to XDA-developers

Hi, guys!
I hope you can help me with the following issue:
10 days ago I deleted about 150 screenshots on my phone and I really need to get them all back. I tried restoring the files using the dr.fone application, but it seems that I need to root my phone first. Here's when the hell began. I'm an amateur, I'm not sure if after rooting I will get back my files, but I want to try it. I've read on different forums about rooting, I am now familiar with some terms, I but still I need help from someone with experience, because I don't want to create bricks in my phone. Now I'm at the step when I need to create a scatter file, and something's not working.
If someone can help me (maybe there is other option except for rooting, in order to get back the screenshots) your help will be much appreciated.
Thank you
