anyone else having issue upon reboot "no sim" sometimes - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

i have a KB2005 rooted with Magisk Canary, Clean Slate Kernel, on OOS 5.6 and sometimes when i reboot i get the "no sim", i have to keep rebooting until its detected. im not sure if it has to do with Magisk cause i rooted my phone as soon as i got it. at first i thought it was the module with the OnePlus Dialer App but i uninstalled it for a little while and it still happened sometimes, so i just reinstalled it. im just curious if anyone else has experienced this issue? its no biggie for me its just i dont notice it sometimes cause i disabled all the icons in my status bar cause im trying to prevent a burn in of the icons on the status bar.

I've had the 7pro since the day it came out and maybe this is a coincidence but I got the T-mobile 7pro (doesn't come with dual sim card tray) so till I got the dual sim card tray it did the exact same thing yours is doing.. Now I do have a hard time thinking it's the tray itself but I haven't had a single problem after I replaced it.

I have the 8t on T-Mobile rom and rooted and occasionally on reboot I do see the no sim for literally less than 2 seconds after unlocking the first time then it's normal and when I say occasionally it's probably like 2/7 reboots

Weird. I have the dual sim tray (original, came with phone). Wonder why I seem to be the only one with this issue. I only have a few apps installed, no social media or messenger apps except the stock mms app(which is Google messeges). I have apps, Servicely, Naptime, FKM, Viper4Android, Amazon Music, Adobe PDF, Call of Duty, Gendroid, Chess, Termux, Unit Converter.
QUESTION FOR THE ANDROID PROS, Is there a way I can diagnose this? Thanks

I see this on my 8T (KB2005AA) for a couple of seconds on bootup as well. My pixel 3 used to do the same. Verizon network.
Seems to not affect anything..

[Q] Stuck sometimes while unlocking sim, and strange "error" in status bar

Hello. Sometimes when I turn on the phone and unlock the SIM with my PIN, it just gets stuck in the unlocking SIM message. The phone gets signal, even internet access, and I get notifications, everything runs OK behind, but I can't use the phone because that message is there in the middle of the screen. Not even enabling airplane mode fixes it, I have to reboot. I haven't tried removing the SIM, though. I recently wiped everything > flashed a factory image > flashed cataclysm > flashed franco BUT it already happened before and keeps happening now.
Also, sometimes I see a strange error in the status bar (more often when the SIM problem occurs? dunno). In Spanish (the language the phone is set to) it says:
"El acceso restringido se ha modificado"
Which in English is, more or less:
"The restricted access has been modified"
When I pull down the notifications, it's already gone, and the phone keeps working perfectly
I can't RMA it (it's not officially sold in the canary islands, well, it is via amazon but when they announced that it was too late), so I hope it's a bug. Any ideas?
I think it would be useful to know that it's a real microsim (not a cut-down SIM), a movistar one, and I don't have any other microsims to test or other phones that use microsim. The phone is from the UK.

[Q] No SIM card - Emergency calls only

Hi, everyone, sorry to bother you, but I'm in a bit of a pinch.
My unrooted stock Nexus 5 was running smoothly with then latest OTA update 5.0.1 until I got No SIM card error. I eliminated SIM card as problem source, removed SIM, discharged it completely and after few days turned it on and it was working. But problem returned soon and same method didn't show result. So things I already did:
- check my card in other phone: works
- check other cards in my phone: doesn't work either
- left it off without SIM for a few days
- erase cache
- upgrade to OTA 5.1.0
- factory reset
- unplug battery from motherboard for some time
- flash stock 4.4.4 from developers google com
- put some tape on card to make contact better
in this order. My next move would be to check if SIM card case pins are broken. Warranty expired month ago so there's that. Do you have any advice to give me? Is there any part of the phone that could've stayed not wiped during 4.4.4 stock flash and that's the reason problem remained?
You have a weather widget, clock, GPS location app that is causing the issue. Try uninstalling one at a time until you find the culprit. For me it was transparent weather clock widget that was causing this. Something about the way the app polls the GPS location causes problems.
I flashed stock 4.4.4 and only stock apps are present. I can either uninstall upgrades or root and delete gapps for good. What say you? I think phone somehow got "stupid" hard and I have to reset certain part that wasn't affected during flashing because it haven't once worked throughout process.
My nexus 5 is doing the exact same thing, exactly as you described, since the update. I'm losing my mind
Seeing as we both have the issue I don't think its a problem with your phone in specific. If anyone knows please help! I've tried uninstalling every app, going on safe mode, swapping sims etc

If it happened immediately or just after update try flashing stock KitKat.
Got the same trouble
The problems begun 1 week ago with interruptions with the radio, i have to restart the phone with Stockrom 5.1 self flashed and uber-kernel to get any connection. Switch the airplane mode often to get any radio signals. I ask my provider o2-germany for some trouble in their radio stations - and there was, just a few hours it worked. In a few days ago I traveled across germany, from the south to the north and back, got while traveling no good receptions, only gprs and edge. And now I switched from stock-rom 5.1 to OptiPop 5.1 the trouble begins with no-simcard ...
I will try xTraSmooth 5, when this ist not working i try an older image...
Edit:
OptiPop working now without flashing UBER Kernel. Now Issues so far!
Mine is absolutely stock on 5.1, not seen it once in 18 months and now it has done it twice in 12 hours.
I've always been completely stock and my phone started doing this every time I reboot it. Any more word on this? It also does seem my GPS looses lock on a lot too. This seems to have started since the last OTA update a few weeks back or so.
after i flash latest factory image mmb29v I got No SIM card error. There is an error in Safe Mode and SIM card not detected .pleas help me

Strange and significant reset and camera problems after latest update

I've got some very strange issues happening since the latest T-Mobile update to baseband G930TUVU2APC8.
The phone is a T-Mobile Galaxy S7 with a Sandisk 200GB micro SD card installed
Whenever I'm on a phone call through a my Jawbone Era (and charging; I haven't tried it unplugged) the phone will behave as if it did a reboot, without actually rebooting, every few minutes. The phone will stop responding for about 20 seconds, then show just the wallpaper for about 5 seconds, then go back to the lock screen. At this lock screen it requires me to enter my password instead of using fingerprint as if it had just powered up. The phone call does not drop through all of this.
The next issue is that some pictures taken from the quick launch are sometimes not saved. I'm not 100% sure that this only happens after the reboot issue above, but I think it does. I have secure startup disabled .
I tried a factory reset which did not fix the issue, contacted t-mobile and was sent a replacement device that still has the problem. None of this was happening prior to the latest update.
Has anyone else experienced these issues? Also, is it possible to downgrade the firmware version?
Thank you,
Matthew

The problem started in PB8 firmware, PC8 firmware has constant wifi dropout issues, you might find even that at 3G connection performing better than fiber optic wifi internet.
Easiest is to update facebook to latest version and see how many "can not connect right now" errors.
Random reboots is normal never mind how many times your factory reset or do a full firmware PB8 flash.
T Mo is not the brightest tools in the shed, it takes 5 visits to their T Mo offices to get the accounts and products purchased + refunds for items payed in cash or freebies refunded etc etc etc.....

It started happening to me as well.
However in my case I've managed to (partially/temporary) solve it by going to Boost+ and change from "Optimize" to "Don't optimize" for following apps: Google Play Store, Google Services Framework, Phone, People.
That did it for me for most crashes but Play Store still behaves weird and the only way to prevent Play Store and it's ridiculous crashes is to do in these steps exactly: as soon as you open Play Store > swipe from left > click on Play Protect > and just go back > Play Store won't crash at all.
I haven't tried resetting so I can't tell if that would solve but there are few posts regarding insane crashes related to Play Store and Boost+.
Might be different for you but you might give it a try

No worries mate
Sorry to hear that it gotten worse
Most of my issues were caused by Boost+'s aggressive power saving option(optimization?) and going though every app that I think does not need any power saving options I just set it to "Don't optimize". Strangely enough - this did help but it is far from solution.
Yeah, phone does have some serious issues such as what I've recently discovered on my unit is if you have 2 SIM cards inserted* and someone calls you or you call** someone sometimes(very often) it freezes right away. By that I mean screen stops responding completely, ignoring any touch input or vol up/dn, power button or anything at all you just have to wait until it crashes on it's own and pulls it self back together.
On first try or after 2nd or 3rd call, it doesn't even have to be answered it will freeze and will 100% soft-reboot. Before it crashes during the call you can perfectly communicate with person on the other end without any problem but sadly it is timed as it is going to soft-reboot.
(dual sim phone and has issues with it's very own purpose of having 2 SIM cards)
*Inserted and active: it doesn't matter if you switched one SIM card off or another one it still happens (Dual SIM manager settings) Maybe my phone doesn't like that there is 1 UK and 1 HR (Croatian) sim cards together? Maybe has to be both UK or both HR? Can't verify that, sorry. Never had dual sim phone before.
**It does not matter is it SIM1 or SIM2 as it happens on both.
Not sure if it's just my unit or I am doing something wrong that is causing this, couldn't find anything online with this problem.
I can reproduce that issue at any given time but have no idea how to debug this problem sadly.
However in my case I no longer need the 2nd SIM card (HR) and now have microSD card inserted.
To summarize
Phone itself is great, I really love the camera (and DNG pictures) and video recording (60 fps all the time), battery lasts incredibly long way better than anything I had before!
I've completely purged play store as it has no purpose to me and I can live without that, coming from previous incredibly bad phones I am not worried about that.
But because of this serious Dual SIM problem, sadly, I can not and will not recommend this phone to anyone.
Only way is to have patience if HTC is going to release patch for this, but looking though U11+ posts, this might take a while.
Personally I'm not worried, I've rooted and flashed TWRP/CWM on all previous devices I had and in any time I'll just reflash original boot.img and restore stock recovery.img (which took a lot of time to find online) so OTA can work and update when it arrives.
Hey! you could bring it to warranty, and maybe they will replace your unit with a new one, yes i did say that the software on the u11+ is not perfect :/, its been a long long time since the european u11+ got any update the .401 version im still on december 1 security patch thats way too slow for a high end phone, i just read that the u11 life is getting android 9.0 pie in certain part of europe :'( thats not fair.
Well as for my problem i got it solved by bringing my device to an htc shop they took 3 days to analyse and all, at the end they just gave me a new unit. well not as if the old one could be repared.
I did say that the U11+ is an awesome device, excepts for sme little flaws in the system everything is just perfect. i choose this one because the the bigger battery i less powerful cpu compared to the U12+. well i can't wait to have my hands on Htc's new flagship next year

SIM card with malware?

I bought a brand new Note 20 with ATT (locked) and was trying to set up all my accounts on the phone. Here is some background and issue:
My old device was S7 with a valid SIM and still active.
On the new device, I installed all of the apps manually. One of the apps is also Youtube Vanced (which is also on my old phone)
I felt I installed everything and then went to activate the SIM after a while. Once I inserted the brand new SIM card into the device, it gave me a warning that the SIM is not provisioned (as I haven't activated it yet). Then I started noticing random apps getting installed. These are the apps that I have never installed over the years.
I felt maybe the Vanced app was compromised, as it was the only one out of the app store. I kept uninstalling apps but new ones kept appearing.
I was in a bit of a panic mode and did a factory reset. Then repeated the steps. This time I did not install the Vanced. Everything was clean, except the apps starting appearing almost a minute after I put the SIM card. Then I performed a reset again thinking this is not the Vanced app issue (is this the right assumption?)
Then after the reset, I did not install any new apps at all, did not even provide my Gmail or Samsung accounts. I waited a few minutes to see if apps were installing. Nothing happened. I went ahead and inserted the SIM again and well, the apps started again. At this point I have reached a conclusion that this was due to the SIM card.
I did another reset and now haven't inserted the SIM (been few hours now and no apps installed).
Question 1- Is it possible that there is a problem with the SIM? If not, what could be the problem.
Question 2 - Does the factory-reset resolve the issues with any malware/virus or do we need additional procedures to make sure the device is "clean"

Hi!
Not malware , adware .
A carrier branded version will come with some preinstalled apps and even some games like candy crush or bubble something (verizon is specially terrible with this kind of sutff) so those weird apps that got installed after you put in the sim card is just ATT loading it their bloat.
Also if you downloaded vanced from the trusted sources , github or the xda links , theres nothing to worry about. Cheers
