I am debating whether to purchase the G Stylus or Power. Can anyone tell me if there are any differences in rooting between the two. I have my favorite apps such as Titanium Backup and TWRP which require rooting. Thanks

No need to reply. I purchased the Moto G Stylus primarily due to the larger storage and improved camera. Also I managed to pick two up at Target for $180 each
What did you go with? I'm stuck deciding between each of these as well
I've owned a Moto G Stylus since it came out, and I was fine at first, but after a while it started to freeze all the time and then unlock after about ten seconds. I tried to format but the same problem occurs every time. I don't know if it's a defect in my device or is it for everyone.

Hello, all!
I've been an iPod Touch + Nokia flip-phone user for many years, and just last week I finally purchased an unlocked Motorola Moto G LTE (XT1045) to replace them both. So, since I'm new to the Android world, I have come to ask this question:
How long would you recommend I wait before rooting my device? There are some features that would REALLY like (moving entire apps to SD card (I was a bit dismayed to find that when moving all my apps to the SD card, it only saved a very, very small amount of storage space), as well as being able to prioritize memory usage for apps, Titanium backup, underclocking while phone is locked, etc.). I'm viewing this phone more like a very mobile computer than I did my iPod Touch I always carried, and as such I am expecting more of it.
The reason I ask is I am wondering how long it will take for good support to start showing up for custom ROMs and stuff. Since this is my first time rooting a device, I would like there to be a decent amount of documentation, and would also like the majority of the bugs worked out of anything involving rooting for this specific phone.
On a side note, does anyone know of a way to unlock the bootloader without going through Motorola's site? I've read that by going through there to get the unlock code, you are basically registering your phone as "not under warranty." So, if something that is clearly a manufacturing defect (like charging connector becoming loose or something like that) shows up in a month, I'd like to be able to un-root it to send it in.
Thanks in advance!

BUMP.
I got to thinking about it, and since I am actually going to be outside of the country for the next 10 months, so my warranty is pretty much useless anyway. Shipping it back would require removing the battery, which in turn would void the warranty.
So, at this point my only question is how long would you recommend to wait to root my phone in order for there to be good documentation, and good support for custom ROMs and stuff?
Thanks!

Hi guys, I'm gonna buying a new phone and after weeks of web-surfing I'm very likely to buy the new moto G.
Last year I had a moto G 2014, but I sold it after 2 months because (at least for me) it had an terrible memory management that made the phone unusable. In particular, whenever I went back to the home I got a home-reloading, and whenever an app was left in background it was killed (so it wasn't possible to listen to music while browsing).
I would like to know if the the moto G 2015 still has this problem or if it has been solved. Maybe is there any ex-2014 moto G user that can provide a comparison between the two models?
For me smoothness and good memory management are the only things I bother in a phone, so I'm very interested in this. At the beginning I was thinking of buying the moto X Play, but after reading it is very laggy I moved to this phone.
Thank you all guy for the support.
I have the Peregrine (4G), Titan (2014), and Osprey (2015). All 1gb ram phones. They all perform equally to me. The memory issues weren't with the phone itself, but when Lollipop first came out. This has been fixed with all phones now. The only reason I got the latest, was for the better camera.
I know many people attribute the memory leak to Lollipop, but I had the same behaviour with KitKat on my 2014 Moto G. Moreover, I've never seen a Nexus phone having the same issue with Lollipop (I mean, the same big issues).

Yea, the Nexus had the same Lollipop issues as the G 2014 but because of a better battery it wasn't as noticeable. I never had a problem on my G2014 with kit Kat and only started having battery problems with Lollipop. The G2015 has a much better battery than the 2014. I seldom made it through the day with the 2nd Gen but with the G3, I usually have at least 30% when I go to bed. I see a significant improvement in battery life with the new phone.
As the title says, the Moto G 2014 I bought for my mum a couple of years ago just bricked itself, as described by others in this thread (to summarize: every application crashes, all changes made via fastboot or adb are gone after reboot, internal storage has become read-only somehow but acts like it isn't). So my question is: have there been any reports of similar problems for the Moto G 2015? I'm trying to figure out what phone to replace the G 2014 with, and after that bull**** problem my confidence in Motorola is entirely gone.
I am planning to fix my Moto G permanently in the dash of my car. Now, you might wonder why I don't use my old Nexus 7 (Or even the even older Asus TF101) But space is very limited. In fact, it should ultimately fit inside the vent-duct!
The Moto will be fed through a fused power connection and should power on automatically when power is switched on at the USB, and power off automatically when the power on the USB goes down.
Another thing the Moto should be able to do is to run bluetooth for the app torque, so data from the engine can be read real-time.
So, the question now is, is there a specific ROM you think fits these things best? I have read about special ROMs for the nexus 7 (Timur), but how bout the Moto G? I might even stay with the factory ROM but then I would like to know if the power-on options are available in some app? I personally prefer a sleek rom without bloat
Hello guy,
First of all I'd like to say sorry for creating new thread because I want to ask all questions to the user here.
I try some deep research and see that only Sprints user didn't receive Marshmallow while other like H950, F510 are receiving it.
Anyway the main reason why I'm here is to ask more details about this device and its problem such as, Overheating, High Brightness, Boot loop, Battery. I'm going to buy this phone.
For the Overheating and High Brightness, I've just want to ask if update to Marshmallow will solve this problem or there's a way to fix it?
And how about boot loop? There's a way to fix it permanently or what? Or it only affects to some phone? I saw some thread burn the phone to make the phone come back to life, but I see in YouTube there's a guy who only replace his battery and the phone come back to life. So what the cause of boot loop for G Flex 2?
Also I want to know about the code name of G Flex 2 f510 battery. Before I bought the phone I want to make sure I can find the replacement for it, but I only see the battery for H950, Ls960 etc.... I know that the battery is BL T16, so the F510 also use that kind too or another? For this one I try to google as well but see nothing about it.
I hope all the owner of this phone could help me ??
It's a great phone, I like it very much ! Using with MarshMallow it's European version.
Never met with the problems what is discuss here!
Hi bro,
It's 3GB Ram? You're using H955?
The F510 also uses the BL-T16 battery.
About the bootloops: I've heard that the bootloops and the sudden deaths both come from the same issue: LG's bad soldering on
the motherboard. Both my G Flex 2's died this way not very long after I bought it.
I updated to Marshmallow and still had the overheating issue.
About the brightness: I've never thought it was an issue. I did notice, however, that the lowest brightness was still brighter than the LG G4's lowest brightness.
Overall, I'd say to stay away from this phone and get a Nexus 6P or Galaxy S7.
Haha, but I'm in love with this phone lol. Anyway, does f510 come with 3gb of ram?
There are 2 versions: one with 2GB and another with 3GB. The 2GB version is MUCH more common though; I have only seen 1 3GB. Hope this helps.
Thanks so much bro
Good phone overall, i loved it... Before it bootloped.. Been using it for 1.5years. Now i had to buy galaxy a5 2017,cause my flex is in the servis. If the flex is only viable option in your budget, buy it. Its still kinda a power house phone.
Do you know what the cause of boot loop?
2GB. H955. Never using to long period, never over heating it !
No game playing with it, only phone, navigation, web and mail.
So H959 is better than H950?
the cpu ...snapdragon 810 and & 808 are bad.. but its good...when they fix it
And do you know how to fix it?
it bootloop on me and lagged like hell 4 to 5 months after I got it. Snapchat was painful to use. Camera was decent. upgraded to an Samsung.a
