LG G Flex 2 2017 - LG G Flex 2

Hello guy,
First of all I'd like to say sorry for creating new thread because I want to ask all questions to the user here.
I try some deep research and see that only Sprints user didn't receive Marshmallow while other like H950, F510 are receiving it.
Anyway the main reason why I'm here is to ask more details about this device and its problem such as, Overheating, High Brightness, Boot loop, Battery. I'm going to buy this phone.
For the Overheating and High Brightness, I've just want to ask if update to Marshmallow will solve this problem or there's a way to fix it?
And how about boot loop? There's a way to fix it permanently or what? Or it only affects to some phone? I saw some thread burn the phone to make the phone come back to life, but I see in YouTube there's a guy who only replace his battery and the phone come back to life. So what the cause of boot loop for G Flex 2?
Also I want to know about the code name of G Flex 2 f510 battery. Before I bought the phone I want to make sure I can find the replacement for it, but I only see the battery for H950, Ls960 etc.... I know that the battery is BL T16, so the F510 also use that kind too or another? For this one I try to google as well but see nothing about it.
I hope all the owner of this phone could help me ??

It's a great phone, I like it very much ! Using with MarshMallow it's European version.
Never met with the problems what is discuss here!

Hi bro,
It's 3GB Ram? You're using H955?

The F510 also uses the BL-T16 battery.
About the bootloops: I've heard that the bootloops and the sudden deaths both come from the same issue: LG's bad soldering on
the motherboard. Both my G Flex 2's died this way not very long after I bought it.
I updated to Marshmallow and still had the overheating issue.
About the brightness: I've never thought it was an issue. I did notice, however, that the lowest brightness was still brighter than the LG G4's lowest brightness.
Overall, I'd say to stay away from this phone and get a Nexus 6P or Galaxy S7.

Haha, but I'm in love with this phone lol. Anyway, does f510 come with 3gb of ram?

There are 2 versions: one with 2GB and another with 3GB. The 2GB version is MUCH more common though; I have only seen 1 3GB. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much bro

Good phone overall, i loved it... Before it bootloped.. Been using it for 1.5years. Now i had to buy galaxy a5 2017,cause my flex is in the servis. If the flex is only viable option in your budget, buy it. Its still kinda a power house phone.

Do you know what the cause of boot loop?

2GB. H955. Never using to long period, never over heating it !
No game playing with it, only phone, navigation, web and mail.

So H959 is better than H950?

the cpu ...snapdragon 810 and & 808 are bad.. but its good...when they fix it

And do you know how to fix it?

it bootloop on me and lagged like hell 4 to 5 months after I got it. Snapchat was painful to use. Camera was decent. upgraded to an Samsung.a

[Q] Should I Worry from this Phone?

hello
i bought the phone from amazon but it's still on the way
t the beginning i was trying to find a budget phone and the option was SAM S4 mini, but i dont like Samsung and want some official OS like nexus, and BOOM the MOTO G is the answer !!
read and watched some reviews and by that i decide to buy it -GLOBAL SIM ver-
now while i'm reading the threads, i found some people complain from signals issues, low calls volumes, kitkat issues and battery issues :crying:
i don't believe the whole stock is defective, maybe some, but still , the numbers are increasing
should i worry ?
2185 258544
Don't waste your time worrying about that.
If you have a defective one getting a replacement from Amazon is quite comfortable (you probably know..).
I think the mayority of the phones are fine so the chances are good that yours is, too.
I have zero issues with my phone. I have turned the volume down for calls, my battery is usually at 50% after 14 hours of use, and there is no lag.
Sent from my XT1034 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Signal is too Strong
My call volume is too loud
KitKat runs too fast
My battery lasts too long
No issues here
that's really comforting guys
i'm really exciting bout this device for both specs and price, Motorola is a great company, even without using their devices since long time , they are well known
even tho i'm an importer, but i know Amazon and their CS are top notch, so i can figure it out with them if something goes wrong, but i really hope everything is gonna be OK
thank you all

Just to tell you to have fun with this device
This device is still brand new so stalk the roms section to try new roms, pretty fun.
Ps: Never had battery issue or software issue or having a defective model
i received the mobile, but my SIM went out of service so i need to buy a new one lately
anyways, the first thing im doing is charging it to 100%, then upgrade to KitKat, i wished to test somethings on JB before upgrading just to make sure everything is OK, but i'm excited lol
after the upgrade i'll shut it down till i bring a new SIM, hope everything is ok
i noticed i can't charge the phone via USB cable while it's OFF, it'll turn ON right away, trivial but whatever
can i upgrade the system from Motorola Device Manager ? cause i think from the WiFi it's taking around an hour and half
lol
the battery as 100% while downloading KK update
after completion in 2 hrs still high percentage
after installing the update and rebooting,i'm at 40%
is this natural?
i hadnt done anything else yet
That happens when you update. Just use it and you will notice that the 40% last for a very long time. Or just recharge it instead...
...
just wanted to confirm that i had the low voice problem on KK, i encountered only once so far
i was to open the speaker, but the voice was so low that i thought it wasnt on speaker, but when i pressed the volume button the voice went loud just fine as it should on the speaker
hope i wont encounter it very often

LG G Flex 2 issues?

Hey Guys! I'm thinking of buying the LG G Flex2 H950 from qualitycellz on ebay, just had a few questions.
1. does the phones still overheat for anyone on the 5.1.1. update?
2. is there a list of apps that are safe to remove once rooted?
3. is the s810 the rev 1 or the 2.1 found in the later models of the m9, oneplus 2, z5?
4. can you disable cores and just run it as a g4 basically?
5. I hear battery life is spotty, how much sot are you guys getting with boat disabled? and does disabling the cores help?
6. I have heard a lot of people have had flickering screen and rebooting on devices bought on ebay from the above seller, has anyone purchased any recently? do you have this issue?
Thanks

1. Not for me, but others share my experience too. Even on stock 5.0, I didn't have overheating. I had only complained of poor battery and the phone being warm, not hot or turning off.
2. Yes (Most of what I have disabled, might've missed 1 or 2 apps)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63148509
3. Qualcomm or LG said they're all 2.1, so there's that...
4. Yes, but it would be faster than a G4 still, because of LDDR4...
5. 5hrs+ (heavily depends on my usage for that day & poor signal). I haven't compared 6 cores to 8, so the difference could be minor. Never noticed a major difference when disabling cores on my other devices.
6. I have read about this issue, that's it. I bought the phone maybe 3wks ago.
That's where I got mine a couple of months back. This phone is amazing. Mine gets warm, no overheating. No lag. Screen is great so far. No issues as of yet. To me, this thing is a beast.

Does LG G Flex 2 still worth it in 2016 for $170?

My local online shop sell this phone for only $170 brand new, which is steal for a snapdragon 810 devices(At least in my country). The model is H959 with 32gb storage and 2gb ram i believe. Im upgrading from lumia 1520. Does it worth it? Thanks in advance (Sorry for my bad english)
170$? US Dollars? I would say shut up and take my money!
Even if you have to know that the development is really bad because no Android6root and no bootloaderunlock - for now, and probably forever. Thank you lg!
On top of that, the screen brightness range is a joke.. A bad one. Don't get me wrong, it's sharp and clear but during day it's not THAT Bright and at night it's like looking right into the Sun.
Overheating and lag is gone for me since android6 but root is gone too so... Meh :/
Battery is okay but don't expect too much - but you still can get 2 days if you handle it right.
Camera is still far above average I would say (good at night, ois, laserfocus, even 4k, but ****ty slomo compared to iPhones)
Helpful?
From H955 16gb
Edit: still would buy again though.. It's still best bang for the bucks and literally physically indestructible
No. I had nothing but problems with mine. Regretted buying it so much. I especially hated the battery life, the software and that you can't turn double tap to wake off unless you installed a 3rd party app. If you have to buy it, I'd go for the 3gb ram version. I had the 2gb version and the user experience was miserable.
I replaced mine with a Oneplus 3 and never looked back.

I have to disagree regarding getting the 3GB H950 over the 2GB versions unless you are a AT&T customer, for the following reasons:-
- Even if you are an AT&T customer, the H950 is stuck on 5.1.1. and the battery life sucks.
- If you are not an AT&T customer, the H950 is on 5.0.1 and you can only get it upgraded by having an AT&T sim card in the phone and connected to there network. Take it from me, getting to even 5.1.1 is a nightmare. :crying:
Totally agree though regarding the One Plus 3, the user experience is second to none. :victory:
Buy it if is H955 !!!!! Update to Marshmallow and enjoy it ! Super fast, not overheat more then other LG for example LG3, great camera, great display, great design .
I used before LG Optimus One ( 2 years) Samsung Galaxy S2 ( 3 years) LG G3 (1 year) all rooted using with custom roms, so I know what I am talking about !
H955 its a very good phone only with Marshmallow because let you using other programs , like google phone changing your default dialer , google messaging , so I don't need root for this phone.

But does the H955 work on GSM carriers like AT&T?
And how can we tell if we have 2 gb ram or 3gb ram?
Here is an Amazon url to H955 in USA

Agreed. It depends on what you need, I guess.
The thing i hated the most about the 2gb version is the apps and tabs reloading in chrome or other web browsers. It reloads every time I leave a tab for more than 20 seconds. I have to use this secure website for work and would have to log back in every time the website reloads. So i would be on this website, pulling some information off it to send a text to my client, go back for additional information, and it would force me to log in again and search the database again. Rinse and repeat about 20 times a day. I think the lack of ram and the ram management was responsible for it. I would have never expected that from a 2015 flagship-ish phone.

I feel you. I used to have these sorts of issues on the Nexus 9. Things improved when I switched to Habit Browser as that seemed to be less RAM intensive than bloated Chrome. There were also some custom roms on the Nexus 9 which would employ zRAM to effectively buy another 0.5GB. Maybe something you could look at? I also went for the H950 for the Mrs due to being concerned that 2GB wasn't enough on the other versions. Its starting to feel like you cant win either way with the GF2. :crying:

Hi I am considering getting a Flex 2. I went from considering ordering a H950 At&t variant from abroad because of the extra storage and RAM. However after seeing that it will probably never get marshmallow and probably has more bloatware on it than other versions, I am thinking that even the weaker H955 might work better with Marshmallow since it should be a lot more optimized for the SD810 SOC and maybe better RAM management too. I would appreciate if you could give your opinion on some things:
- What is the bloatware situation on the Flex 2 Marshmallow ROM out of the box?
- Have you seen an increase in speed on everyday use( compared to 5.1.1/11)? Such as opening apps and multitasking.
- Have you seen a decrease in heating and throttling issues?
-Have you seen an increase in battery life?
- Have you tried any low or high end gaming? If so what is the performance like on Marshmallow?
- Has the minimum brightness issue been fixed?
- Have you tried different launchers to see if there has been an improvement in performance?
Many thanks

Possibility to disable uninstall / reinstall LG apps if you don't like.

Yes

Yes
-Have you seen an increase in battery life?
Same, my record is more then 120 Hours but if you use intense you drain the battery more quickly.
- Have you tried any low or high end gaming? If so what is the performance like on Marshmallow?
Not tried.

What issue ? On 0% still see the display very good.

Generally speaking the reviews and users report that at min brightness it was way too bright so for viewing in the darkness it is just too hard on the eyes.

confused

Hi all,
I'm confused and very hesitant about upgrading , I have a note 4 and like I said I'm very hesitant and reluctant to upgrade because I don't want to be a slave to a charger.....this is the number one reasons I hate Iphones besides not being able to expand the memory you can't switch out the battery, and you become as I stated a slave to a charger. Also I want to know if you are rooted & running the latest software does it make a difference what device you have? I know a friend of mine who has an s6 and I know one who has a note 5&6 their constantly charging it because the battery is constantly dying. can anyone tell me why I should upgrade to a note 5 if I cant expand the memory?
Can anyone tell me weather I'm doing the right thing, Or can anyone tell me anything to rest aside my fears concerning upgrading. ......thanks

How did you root it w/o being able to take off the back or taking out the battery especially if it overheats ?

Well, I was trying to help. Perhaps a better choice would be a Samsung Jitterbug.
The Note5 is an amazing phone. I wish there weren't as many variants around the world, so that the development was consolidated, though...
Anyway! You don't need to take out the battery to root. You cannot access the battery with this phone. If it overheats, and I don't think mine ever has, it will just shut off (theoretically), or you can hold down power, home, and down volume buttons to reboot it.
If you wait a few weeks, the market will be flooded with used Note5's, so you might be able to pick one up for cheap.
Just wait until the Note 8

ROFL. I'm dead!

Should I buy it?

Hello, I need a new phone and I'm looking at the Nokia 3 because it has an e-compass and gyroscope, sensors that are a must for me.
Sadly most brands are leaving e-compass behind. So I got really exited when I saw that all nokias have it.
So far the only thing that keeps me from buying it are the bugs I read about the phone in this forum and others: screen that doesn't turn on, battery drains, charging that stops at 80%, phone getting slow/choppy, phone that hangs after using the camera.
So I need to ask you this... how serious are those bugs? do you believe they're gonna fix them or they are not doing anything to improve it? is it worth it?
Thanks.

Personally I haven't experienced any of those bugs, the only thing that once happened to me is that once the phone ran down and refused to charge or come on for a while. That said, I'm not sure other phones don't sometimes have similar or worse issues.
Might I ask, why do you need a phone with a compass sensor? Can't you just get a camera app from the play store, or wouldn't such an app work without the sensor?
Anyway bottom line is, the choice is up to you. I believe getting a phone without issues is sometimes a hit and miss situation. Ultimately you'll have to make the decision for yourself. I'm not really sure I can advise you on that. I got my Nokia 3 because I'd always liked the Nokia brand (but couldn't stand the WP os) so this was my way of declaring solidarity with Android on Nokia.
My biggest issue with the phone is the lack of backlight on the navigation buttons, which can be inconvenient in dark places. If that is not a deal breaker for you, you can go ahead and get it, but I'd recommend searching for info on people who have used the compass sensor first

Hi there !
First,I want to say Nokia 3 phone is for me a very good choice :
-have a clean pure android OS without bloats(thats why I am not sure it is a wise choice to root it or unlock boot)
-is a very fast phone if you disable apps you dont need(faster that a rooted debloated Xperia)
-I use MX or FV5 camera for taking very nice photos (at 8Mpx)
-Charging never stops if you know that Nokia 3 have a new protection system for battery-if phone is on charger and you use it a lot on 4g internet the temperature of battery is increasing over normal and automatically is trigged the protection suspending the charge until temperature drop to normal.
So is not a bug,is an enhancement for better battery life.
-If you search the guys who are over complaining you will see they work for competitors of Nokia.Dont forget is a tough competition and there are a lot of high end phones who are not on Oreo update program.Nokia until now keept their promise to deliver monthly updates and upgrades .
Also suspicious is the fact that MTK had double time to deliver drivers but is still delaying.
If you want the best budget phone Nokia 3 is by far the best choice !
All the best !

Thanks.

Hi, I'm using this phone about 2 months, and i had no bugs so far. I didn't tested compass so i can't really tell you about that function. I think that Nokia will fix those "bugs" that other users experienced because they release OTA updates often so you can be sure that you are on latest version. Design of this phone is nice, my friends like it too. Battery life is great for me, it lasts whole day without charging. Sound quality of speakers are ok, i would say average, sound quality through headphones is behind average, but that's my opinion. Customization of this phone is so far good. We have unlocked bootloader, TWRP, SuperSU root and Xposed. I hope that Nokia 3 can have some good Custom ROM. Performance in games are good. I play GTA:SA, Asphalt 8 without bugs in medium settings. Multitasking is ok, i can have 5 apps in background and no apps will be restarted.
I recommend you this phone, i think that it won't disappoint you.
Thanks for your replies!

Might I ask, why do you need a phone with a compass sensor?

I use a few astronomy apps regulary, those need e-compass/magnetometer to work. Also I'm a mapper and use a lot the GPS, GPS without compass is only half as useful. Being able to register where you were facing while taking a shot or registering a note is very useful in mapping, astronomy, hiking, etc.

My advice is to buy TA-1032 variant which is European variant and have dual-sim because it have twrp and stock rom in case you bricked your phone.
Other variants are ok too, but only TA-1032 have twrp and stock rom at this moment. I hope that twrp and stock ROMs will be available for all variants.
I'm from argentina so I don't know wich variant i'm gonna find here... I know it is dual sim, but that's all i know about the nokia 3 they are selling here, EDIT: appearently the most common variant here is the TA-1028, very few sellers has it at this time that aren't even official stores and it's not that cheap, they are selling it here for USD 200-270. That's why i'm worried too because probably I can't get any local support.

TA-1028 is single sim, TA-1038 will probably be the dual sim most common. I don't know if Amazon ships to Argentina, if they do and it doesn't cost too much, I think you can get the TA-1032 model there

sellers says it has dual sim :/
Sadly I'm not willing to buy it outside my country because there are high chances that the postal office steal the package when it enters the country. Also import taxes adds up to 50-60% the price, so the risk is worthless. Easily I prefer to pay those USD 200-270 and be 100% sure I'm getting the phone. After all these troubles I need a really trustworthy phone.
