Poco X3 NFC (surya) - wifi 5g poor signal - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC Questions & Answers

Hi,
I just got my x3 nfc and I was testing it. It is constantly losing the 5g connection to my router and default to the 2.4g.
I checked with Wifi Analyzer and it shows -20mdB more than normal, by normal I mean, I checked on an other phone (sony) and on the same 5g same spot it shows the difference (Sony -60mdB and X3 -80mdB)
Is anyone else experiencing issues on the 5g wifi? in case, anyone knows if it is a software issue on this model or an hardware issue?

Are you on a custom ROM?
There are multiple reports of poor wifi connectivity around -- apparently, they all lag behind stock ROMs, which aren't themselves perfect on this aspect.

I am still on stock. my big doubt is if this is an hardware flaw of this model or just a software issue that could be fixed in the feature.. I am not sure if the antenna is physically for both 2.4g and 5g or it is separate, as the 2.4g have a good signal, at least at the same level of the other phones. It is just the 5g that is drammatically poor even in front of the router. If I try to use it after a while it fallback to the 2.4g

Really slow and spotty wifi?

Will I get OTA updates if I don't put a SIM in? I'm on C432B126 right now and I think the seller that installed it for me messed it up, I'm not getting supercharge or fast charge with the included charger just normal charging and wifi has been really slow and spotty, I've tried everything to fix the wifi issues but it's still the same, can someone shed some light on this, thanks.

I am assuming you are using 5ghz wifi. Some phones have issues with high channel >48 5ghz wifi (my lg v20, mi max and the mate9). If you use 2.4ghz only the wifi will improve. However, if you want to use 5ghz goto your router wifi channel settings and set to either channel 36 or 48. Just note the lower channels have poorer wall penetration compared to channel 150+. If you got a large house consider a solution like Google wifi. If you are still getting very poor wifi, then you may have a faulty phone (dislodged antennae maybe).
To get supercharging you will need to use the original charger + CABLE.
Try using the ampere app to see how fast your phone is charging. Anything over 2 amps I would say it is good enough unless you are in a hurry.

I tried both 2.4ghz and 5ghz with no luck and I only get normal charging speeds with the included charger+cable, no fast charge or supercharge, charging to full takes nearly 3 hours.

Then take to a service centre, probably a faulty charging port/electronics and dislodged wifi antennae.
The WiFi on the Mate 9 is the best I've ever used.
I'm sitting in my car outside the house to send this, and I've never been able to do that with any other phone.
Have to disagree about 5G channels. The higher frequencies are absorbed more by building materials. That's why 5G generally covers less than 2G. If anyone finds the top channels are better than the lower ones it will be due to antenna variations in the router or the handset.

I've heard Huawei phones in general have great signal as well, perhaps I just got a bad unit. I'm sending mine back for an exchange since it'd really be an excellent phone without these two issues.
I had been thinking of adding a WiFi extender to provide coverage when I'm working in the garage. I don't need to now - the Mate 9 works fine in there.
Having a similar problem and I'm thinking it's an incompatibility issue with my Asus N55U. Every other device in the house connects at full 300mbit over 5ghz and 150mbit at 2.4ghz to my modem but my Mate 9 maxed out at 72mbit over 2.4ghz and 150mbit over 5ghz.
The big problem is the 5ghz wifi drops to 7mbit within a few seconds, doesn't matter where in the house I am, yet it always says excellent signal. 2.4ghz stays at 72mbit but my internet is 100mbit fibre so it's still not ideal.
I've tried different 5ghz channels (right now on 40), tried N-only, 20 and 40mhz, changing wifi names, changing security type and factory resetting the phone. Nothing has worked, I get an intermittent 50KB/s to 400KB/s from the phone at 5ghz, yet I connect my laptop to the 5ghz, get a solid 300mbit and download at 11MB/s with the same distance to the router.
Going to purchase a new router and hopefully this will resolve the issue otherwise I'll be sending the phone back.
I had the same problem (about wifi) I did lots of test with my mate 9 , 2 p9lite and my ipod 5g just my mate 9 had low results sometimes half download and upload than the other devices and always a really high ping 3 or 4 times more than the other devices. I wrote to amazon and also to huawei for describe this problem and they decided to replace it so I will receive the new one tomorrow. Them said nobody report this issue about a software error so they think this is an hardware factory problem. Hope you can solve it asap like me

I assume you're running DD-WRT? Try channel 36 and NA-Mixed.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using XDA Labs
Did the new router fix your problem?

I am having the same symptoms that you are on my Mate 9. Did you buy a new router, and did it make any difference in the wifi performance of the Mate 9? If so, could you please share which router you are using? Thanks.

Hi just wondering if your replacement mate 9 was any different as far as Wi-Fi goes compared to the one you posted the problems about. I have 2 mate 9's with similar symptoms (10 times higher ping and 3-4 times slower transfer speeds compared to laptops and other Wireless A/C phones), so just trying to figure out whether they are all going to have this problem or if I happen to have defective units that would be fixed by replacement.

I ended up buying a Linksys WRT1900ACS router, the Mate 9 now connects at 433Mbit to that even though my other devices connect at near 900Mbit. Still, my internet connection is only 100Mbit so 433Mbit is fine, and certainly better than 7Mbit.
But in case you were wondering the Oreo update didn't fix the issue, so I'm guessing it's a hardware issue. Haven't really bothered investigating it further after getting the new router.

poor signal problem

Hello guys
Im facing a little problem with my mi note 3.
With me previous device (Google pixel), i got signal (4G or 3G) on every place. With this mi note, when i got inside somewhere, got no signal. Into my house, signal normally is not full on pixel (about 3-4 bars) on mi note, 0 bars, 0 signal.
Only outside I got some signal.
This device is new.
There is anyone facing this same problem? Any solution?

The Mi Note 3 supports a lot fewer signal bands than the Pixel. It's possible this phone simply doesn't support the bands you need for a good signal. Where are you located?

Im from Brazil.
2 months ago I was using a mi5s, and it was working normally as the Google pixel.
I dissassembled it now, and realized that the antenna cable is slightly deanified. I'll try to change it. But for do it, i'll need to find another antenna cable with the same size of the original.

Xiaomi not only makes a confusing number of phone models but sometimes they make varients of the same model that have different band support depending on if the intended market is China, India or Global. The China and Global versions of the Note 3 have different band support. I wouldn't assume that because one model of Xiaomi phone worked perfectly in Brazil other models will automatically work perfectly as well. But I'm actually pretty new to Xiaomi phones so you might know way more about them than I do. Good luck with your repair.

Question Data Signal Proe.

Please someone help me. My poco x3 pro is 2 months old and I'm still struggling to get good data signal that is stable enough to do gaming. When I play some mobile games, it is unstable as frick, it spikes to 200ms frequently and I'm having a hard time dealing with it. I'm using a Globe sim card, my globe sim card is not having any network problem when I'm using other phone but with this phone, it struggles. Please help me, is there a way to boost signal to make it stable, any way? Thank you for answering.
there's an article here but it mostly seems that this is a problem for a lot of people and is being fixed in update.
I had - and seems that still have, same problem.
Initially I've changed the phone - bought with Amazon, but I see that this is still a problem.
The signal is weaker in same spots and conditions than with my old Huawei Mate 10 Lite.
TBH I am disappointed with this phone but I hope that some future patches will fix problems.
You might try gaming in 3G - if available, might get better and stable.

Strange, I've just changed to the X3 Pro (3 days ago) from my A2 Lite and the signal is much, much stronger on Sky mobile (which uses O2's network). The WiFi is stronger too as I keep getting burbled at as I walk past houses with BT Open Wifi. Maybe they've updated something.
Edit: I'm in the UK BTW.

Question WIFI loses internet signal

Hi everyone! I have a problem with my Poco x3 Pro and I wanted to see if the same thing happened to someone, or ask for advice to find out where the problem comes from.
I bought a Poco x3 Pro 6 / 128gb 3 months ago, and last month, the wifi began to lose the internet signal since it is still connected to the wifi network but it is as if the signal was cut off, and it is enough to turn off and quickly turn the wifi back on on the phone to regain the signal.
It seems like something that can be quickly corrected, but when I'm playing online, it is quite annoying since suddenly without apparent cause, the Internet is cut off (with Wi-Fi and the network connected).
As additional data, it came with MIUI version 12.0.6 and although I updated to 12.5.2 (I also did a factory reset) the problem continued to occur.
Has anyone happened to you or advise me how can I find out the source of the problem? Since it could be my wifi (I really do not think so, I have a Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 6 Pro and this does not happen, the signal is quite stable) or the same phone.
Thank you and sorry for my english haha
Firstly, 'forget' the WiFi connection on the phone and then turn off your router for a couple of minutes. Boot the router back up and once it's settled down re-connect your phone.
You don't say how often or quickly this occurs but if it does still happen then can you test elsewhere? Either a public WiFi connection or a friends or family members home maybe?
I get similar problem, usually after a night. Phone shows WiFi active, but no Internet connection and no ping to any local device. Other phones have no problems with the same WiFi network. It is enough to turn off WiFi on phone for a moment to get it working again.
My POCO is V12.5.1.0.RJUEUXM.
i have the same problem with my poco x3 pro 8/256, but only with wifi sign 5GHz, with 2G it working nomaly. i use Asus wireless Router RT-AX 55. i think it's isusse update new version, when i update 12.5.2 stable Offical
Since i inserted the SIM card, the problem seems to have stopped, but I don't see a direct relationship.. I will evaluate these weeks.
Maybe it switches to LTE? I have SIM inserted but disabled data and still notice problems.

Did these problems come to you from the beginning?
Yes for me. I didn't use this phone much, while waiting for bootloader unlock. It updated itself to MIUI V12.5.1.0.RJUEUXM at first boot and since then I observed WiFi loosing connection after nearly each night. But I noticed no breaks, while actively using the phone.

It is strange, in my case it will be necessary to test it with another WiFi..
PD: I update, it keeps happening to me, I will only use 4G to play games ..
I switched to ArrowOS and noticed one instance of WiFi failure. Then I disabled random MAC on phone and it seems to work OK now, but is to early to draw any conclusion. I don't remember if random MAC was active in MIUI.
While rare, problem still exist. Effect is that WiFi connection is broken an system cant find AP. But WiFiAnalyzer work OK and shows available AP. Turning WiFi off and on restores connection.
I have disabled protocol 802.11r on my network and for some days I have no more WiFi failures.

Okey bro, let me know if you have the problem again please, thanks.
I believe my problem is solved or rather circumvented and WiFi works OK. I'm using routers with openwrt. Maybe it doesn't cooperate well with Xiaomi.
Have the same problem, unmark "IPV6" and "QoS" in the router settings and problem solved.

Question my wifi keep connecting and disconnecting on my rog phone

Hi, guys. Recently I acquired a rog phone 5s, but since I started to use it, I'm facing problems with my connection. Basically what's been going on is that sometimes my wifi starts to disconnect and connect on my phone.
This problem already happened with my father's phone (a realme gt master), but apparently stoped after some months; it happened with my old Poco X3 NFC when I rooted it too. These 2 occurrences make me distrust that the problem is in the wifi network or modem itself.
Some usefull informations:
- Here in Brazil we have some local internet providers that offers optical fiber connection, as the big companies here doesn't offers it in smaller cities. My internet provider is one of those smallers providers.
- I have 2 internet bands, one in 5ghz and another in 2.4ghz. When I had this same problem with my Poco X3, someone here said me that the the reason for the problem is an interference between these 2 channels.
- I never tried to fix this problem changing the networks configs directly on modem or call someone to fix it cause my parents insist that the problem is in the cell phone
Overall, that's it. I'm available to answer any questions in case anyone hasn't understood something, and sorry for my bad english, idk the grammatical rules of that language
That happened to me until the wifi completely went out and never turned back on. It's a motherboard issue I sent it to Asus to get repaired twice
