Axon 10 front glass repair - ZTE Axon 10 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello,
Unfortunately my front glass broke. Touch display and everything still works.
That's why I didn't want to replace the entire digitizer, just the glass.
Has anyone of you ever done this? It would be important to know whether the entire display is covered with adhesive or only part of it.
The glass that you can only get in China comes with 2 strips. I had already dismantled a number of smartphones, but if the entire Gals is glued over the entire surface, I am missing the equipment
Thanks in advance

[Q] Front glass lens broken

Dear all,
Today I dropped my one S on the ground...
Result: a broken front lens glass.
The digitizer is working well, the LCD panel is intact (I think) and the phone is working 100%.
Only the front glass is broken and scratched heavily.
I asked a price for repair on an official repair center: around 200$ (reconverted from EUR).
The repair center told me it is impossible to replace the glass without replacing the whole LCD and digitizer.
I searched the internet and I came on this page: http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc-one-s-glass-lens.html
Price: around 15 $ including shipping.
My question is: how is this 'front lens glass' mounted in the phone? Is it mounted with glue?
Or is this just 'pressed' in the case? I don't know exactly how to say it in English, but I think you understand me: just opening the case and replacing it, and the screwes of the case are responsible for the place of the lens glass?
Can I do it by myself?
Does any1 have experience with this?
Is it difficult?
I have a little experience with repairing phones: i repaired a Desire Z with new camera module and LED module, but neither I am an expert.
Thx 4 all!
Pieter
If the digitiser breaks, since our phone is LED you have to replace the screen as well. No two ways about it.
However, if you have the right tools for the job, it shouldn't be overly difficult. Obviously, it goes without saying, your warranty is 100% gone the second you open it up.
Maybe this can help you.

Borken glass.

i just dropped my phone face first vs some slate tile. the glass screen is cracked like a web, but its fully functional. do i just need to replace the glass?
so would i just need to buy this ? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Google-Nexus...789?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item3f46962d65
and is there any downside to buying the really cheap one http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Front-Screen...261?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41856070a5 ?
and does anyone have any guides they can recommend to help me do this?

Unless you are a professional and/or have experience with separating glass that is fused to an LCD panel, it is likely you will break the entire thing trying to replace only the glass.
This is how you separate the glass from the LCD and put it back:

Unless you have the means and the skill to do that, you will have to replace the entire front panel of the device.

Screen Glass Replacement

Did anybody try replacing the glass screen on the LG G5? Not the whole digitizer, screen only.
Looks like replacement glass is found quite cheap.

There is a crack on my screen, the touchscreen is perfect. Is there a procedure somewhere that can be followed to get it done? I see a lot of videos for a complete teardown. But is it possible to just use a heatgun to take the glass off and put the new one in?
These display modules are oftenly replaced altoghether, because replacing only the glass requires it to be really precisely fitted and hermetically glued, you can probably try to seperate the digitizer from the display, but you may end up with a some dust underneath the glass or some unwanted gaps.

I had a crack on my screen at the top of when it fell down on concrete floor. I had to buy the whole display with glass and digitizer for about 130 euros. I did not know that you can just buy the glass and replace it with a lower price. Oh well... but if you want to separate the glass from the digitizer or anything what is glued, always use the heatgun. You can also use the hairdryer. I had to replace a battery by opening up a back cover with a hair dryer. For separating the glass from the digitizer you have to heat it up very often, pry it open and hold at several spots, to avoid breaking components. It s quite difficult but take it slowly.

So, if I crack my screen I need to get a screen replacement with frame or just screen replacement?
Screen replacement with frame

Screen Replacement

You can get without the frame, you will just need to heat up the glue between the frame and old screen to cut through the glue to remove the frame. They cover it on the instruction video on Fixez.

Mix lcd replacement without frame

Hello everyone,
I recently dropped my mix and I wish to get an lcd and replace it by myself.
I just wanted to ask if you guys know if the screen is glued to the frame or just attached with some screws.
I looked in YouTube and it seems it is not glued together but the lady in the shop said they sell the screen with frame that is already glued.
And if I get the screen separated can I glue it by myself? Or I better get glued one?
Also if anyone finds a good quality replacement video I'll be happy to watch it.
Thank you in advance
Roy.
Better to get glued one, will save lot of time.
The plastic frame is glued into the side of LCD outer glass.
I'm not sure what type of glue that can be use.

So the screen is supposed to be glued to the frame? I saw some mix teardown and lcd replacement videos where the screen is not glued. You sure about that?
Yes i'm sure about it.

Where did you get the screen from?
XIAOMI MI MIX 6.4inch LCD Display TP Tools Digitizer Frame Touch Screen Pannel full assembly

Housing Frame Bezel Chassic for xiaomi mi mix Free Shipping

always better to get the screen with frame. Saves time and it's very hard to find good adhesive that will work like the one factory used.
Can you just replace the outer glass and not the whole lcd? just dropped my phone and now there's a huge scratch on the screen. The lcd and frame are good but there's a huge scratch on the screen which is annoying to me.

Glass Replacement

Over the weekend I dropped my mix 2s and have cracked the bottom of my screen glass.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and fixed this. I have purchased a new glass on eBay: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/263620735738?ViewItem=&item=263620735738
I am planning to take it to a professional repair shop.
Is it likely that they will be able to separate the glass from the LCD and glue on this replacement? Is there any risk of this going wrong and my screen from acting weird afterwards?
No, it is in fact very unlikely they'll be able to separate them.
It will be more expensive but you'll have to get an lcd display and glass assembly all together.

According to this: Ali Express
LCD Only: If the image under the glass is broken and the touch panel is NOT then you only need an LCD.
Touch Panel aka Digitizer: If the top touch panel or aka glass top is cracked or broken but the image under it is fine then you only need the Touch Panel.
Complete Screen with Touch Panel and LCD: If the top touch panel is broken and the LCD image is either black liquid or cracked you need a complete screen.

According to that; If the glass is cracked, I only need the Digitizer replaced.
I am happy to get the whole thing, its just I have already ordered a Digitizer and thought this was all I needed. I could be wrong.
Any recommendation on the type of screen I should purchase for best results?

Hi i managed to change my whole lce by myself. Its quite hard only for heating the glue and opening everything. There is no guide on internet so i just follow mi mix 2 guide. I bought from aliexpress, 60 euro, claimed to be original, checked its JDI from cti app, and very good quality, color also very good, nothing weird, glass also oleophobic.
Any update on this? I'm in the same situation, front glass is cracked but phone otherwise fine. Replacement is only $10, but can just the glass even be replaced?
I just bought the whole LCD/Digitizer for $60, not even going to attempt to separate just the glass

Hey emanuel.caesar,
thanks for your helpful post. A few further questions from my side:
which lcd did you choose exactly? Are you still satisfied with the quality? And the last question Does the video guide for the Mi Mix 2 work for the Mi Mix 2s as well or are many things different? Thank you in advance for a short reply.
Hello,
Is not a good idea to try to just replace de LCD screen. I did this operation many times in the past and I can confirm that's a long operation (~1h30), there's a lot of risks that you break the digitizer and for a good result, you need LCD glue and a UV machine.
So, I think it's a better idea to replace all the screen: LCD + Digitizer.
Any suggested YouTube videos to replace the glass + LCD + digitizer?
Looking at a used phone with broken glass. It's like $10 for glass or $32 for the whole set and if I recall last time I had glass swapped it was like $60 labor and no guarantee the LCD wouldn't break. I'm pretty technical have repaired plenty of phones Android and iPhone. Anyone have a good link for removing the LCD / digitizer / glass unit? Is this like the Samsung where you need to use a blow dryer to heat the adhesive to get it off? Or like an iPhone where you just take screws out and pry the panel out? Much appreciated
