Over the last 6 months or so I have had a few people state that when calling me they dont hear a calling tone at their end. All they get is no sound, so they just assume the call has not connected however my phone does ring. I've been able to do some basic troubleshooting and have found the following:
1/ This occurred on a pixel 3 xl and pixel using a custom ringtone ie. a clip from youtube or similar converted to an mp3
2/ in the instances I know of an Iphone was used - but newer type - not sure which model, however on an older iphone or IOS the user can hear the calling tone
3/ no issues when using at least 3 other android phones calling my phone
Now here is the weird thing
4/ when switching to a ringtone which comes with Android eg. anything under the grouping of "Pixel Sounds" the iphone users can hear the calling tone
So the question is,
a/ is it the model of iphone or IOS ?
b/ is it the way the ring tone was created at my end ?
c/ is it a bug with Android ??
The simple fix is to simply use an out of box ringtone which comes with Android but would love to hear any thoughts on this.

Since there is a temptation to use open wifi sources with our phones, I was wondering if there is a firewall program that can protect the phone from the network it is connected to?
Also, does there exist a good call recorder program? Particularly one that you can set to record automatically based on caller id. I.e. if a call comes in (or is made) from a particular phone number as soon as the call is connected the recording starts.
Short answer no & no.
Unfortunately call recording in general sucks. I've only heard of apps that work with speaker phone. I'm told it's an os level design decision.

Yeah, could you imagine the problems if phone companies allowed anyone to record voice conversations.
I was about to argue with you and then I realized what you did. Nice.
Google Voice currently offers incoming recordings but what about outgoing calls?
So I did some searching and it turns out android as well as iOS blocks this feature from being accessed and all apps use tricks and hacks to make is work halfway.
However, CyonagenMod project should have no trouble accessing this feature since the entire OS is opened sourced. There hasn't been anything released or merged that would indicate anyone working on such a feature. So I ask your opinion and thoughts. Is this something you would like to see implemented? Does it make sense to allow people to record your conversation even if there was a consent message before starting the recording? After all, if you really needed to record a conversation, even if illegal, all Android and iOS phones have a headphones line out.
what do u mean by incoming recordings ?
Incoming meaning that when you get a call from someone you can press 4 (I think) and record a call. If you place the call, this option is not available.
Trojan for call recording
maybe this trojan does what we want?

That would be interesting. Anyone has the apk?

Call recording in Nexus s
Hi, anyone knows and tried which ROM and audio patch i should do for Nexus s to enable call recording using Total Recall
I got the nexus s for my wife couple weeks ago. It's her first android phone (switching from a nokia). Her previous nokia phone had a feature where when she would get a call the phone would say the caller's name (if the number was in contacts) and then continue ringing.
She is not finding a similar feature on the nexus S. I did a web search and it seems like that is not a native android feature but is added by each device manufacturer separately.
Does anyone here know how to get that feature on the Nexus S (by the way it is running stock rom version 2.3.6)? Thanks!
Hello everyone,
So I upgraded my phone and as a result went from Marshmallow to Pie, and was told by my call recipients that they can hear a beep (couldn't be heard before). After little research I found this: https://www.xda-developers.com/android-p-call-recording-tone-support-record-phone-calls-lawfully/ Looks like Google has done what they've promised...
The tone is a 1400Hz note that will play every fifteen seconds if the carrier enables it. It works by detecting the package name of a call recording app using the previously linked API. If any such package is detected, then the outgoing call will have the tone played to warn the other end that their call may be recorded. The tone will be automatically played depending on carrier configuration, which is determined by the SIM card.

Now I need to stop this beeping, and coulnd't think of a better place than XDA to ask for help. Any ideas?
Google Pixel 3, 181205 update, rooted, Vodafone UK, using ACR Pro to record.

Anytime I get a call, the sound cuts out in the beginning. I've included a video of the issue.
https://youtube.com/shorts/GefkuTMKwl4
The way for me to replicate the issue is when I recieve any phone call fron any phone number. It doesn't matter what ringtone I use. If I ring my device using phone locater or google device manager, it rings normally. The issue as seen in the video is the two pauses when the ring starts to play. I've tried to call the phone when the phone is both sleeping or unlocked and it's always the same thing.
Be advised that I had this exact same problem with my previous S10e phone the last month that I owned it. I am wondering if it is linked to the android 11 update but can't be sure. The phone number in the video doesn't need to be censored as it is a public number I believe. I am in the US and have an s21 + with the snapdragon cpu on Sprint. I've already submitted a ticket.
I've edited the post to add more details and a video of the issue.
must be your phone all my ring tones and music play great.just got mine yest. t-m
