Hello everyone.
I want to buy Mix3 in online chinese markets as soon as it's available, I don't want to wait January when it will be available in Italy.
The question is: can I buy the Mix3 online in China and flash xiaomi.eu ROM or another i want? Or the Chinese Xiaomi phones are locked?
same here!
i have a friend in China for a couple of weeks. wanting him to buy there and bring back to USA for T-Mobile use. Can i get a global version or flash a global ROM to a Chinese version phone. I would assume an unlocked phone from a store there could work just fine. That is my hope.

You need to make sure that he is grabbing the right model for Tmo bands. Then it will work. No global rom as of yet, so you are stuck on the CN rom for a bit (a la no Google out of the box)

thanks. that makes me kinda want to wait. If looking at the GSMArena specs, its got most of T-Mobiles bands...but If sometime later there may be a UK/Global model maybe its best not to grab one from China quite yet. But that is a gamble weather it would even support those 2 missing T-Mobile bands anyways, but at least there would be a better ROM for it.
Ya, I want the phone for the L1 + L5 GPS GNSS but it lacks Band 71. Google always tries to copy Apple too much and cannot put GNSS bands into their pixel 3. You would have thought they would have done that (besides I hate the stupid chin-pull out speakers would be awesone though). What I can tell the 256GB has B66 while the 128GB lacks B66. If anyone would confirm that?? Sounds like GNSS phones are MIA except by China.

That's what I'm seeing on their China site. I'm needing Band 13, only on the 256 from what I can see. Which sucks ass because I wanted the Jade Green color, but 256 is only in black

Do you own a single-SIM or dual-SIM variant?
For some inexplicable reason Oppo sells two versions of this phone - dual-SIM in China and single-SIM in the rest of the world.
If you own a single-SIM version, you're pretty much guaranteed to have a global ROM on your device.
It came from China and has Chinese apps, so I'm guessing dual sim

May I ask you, who did you buy it from?
Here in the Czech Republic there's a reseller who claims he buys all the phones in the UK and he offers a dual-sim (Chinese variant) of Find X2 Pro.
When I e-mailed him, he told me that the manufacturer would flash a global ROM before the dispatch and, therefore, from him I would receive a dual-SIM (Chinese) version of the phone with Global ROM.
So I'm a bit confused.
It's not out in the UK until the end of May, hence me getting a Chinese one, I used Ali Express
I suspect the global Rom will drop/Leake once the UK varient is out, I emailed Oppo who told me they are not doing a golobal ROM but clearly that's not true when you look at Youtubers etc

It's bizarre the rom numbering. I got the April updates via Malaysian oppo (posted elsewhere on here) but this is listed as A.13.
However, it appears there is an A.14 named version which appears to be same changes as A.13 from Malaysia? ?

Could you possibly tell us what improved? Youtube is not covering this as the phone isn't wide-spread yet. Thanks!
I also have a Chinese X2 Pro and got my firmware updated to A.08, it says the camera has improvements as well as stabilization.
I haven't played with the camera too much yet. What are the massive improvements you are noticing?

Hello,
i would just like to know if OnePlus 8 (China version) is good enough to support 4G LTE in EU, does it have all the bands required? I've read about "band 28" which it lacks and that this will be used for 5G? I don't care for 5G (yet), so my question is, will it work for everything else, is it good enough, i'm from Slovenia if that helps, i've been checking the bands, but i'm too confused to know what to think about this, those are too confusing for me, i've been checking them, but i'm just not sure, i think it should be fine, but i'm not 100% sure, so if anyone who knows this stuff can tell me, or even better, someone who has that OnePlus 8 phone can tell me, that would be great (=
Greetings
I have just ordered a CN version for use in the UK and from what i have read it lacks 1 frequency (band 32 i think) which from what i'm aware o2 in UK doesn't use .... Is this correct anyone? (Sorry if this a thread hijack)

Hi, just to be sure we're on the same page, I read that IN2010 is the international version (5 4gLTE bands support) and IN2020 is the Chinese one, which is missing one band used here in Europe.
Are you sure IN2010 is Chinese ?

Oh thx, I didn't see that one coming , so I have 2 questions : where to search for those infos (regional variants numbers I mean) and is this a software matter or a hardware matter ? (Will there be missing/China specials bands in it or it's just software)
Edit:
Are there any global version of the OnePlus 8, if so what would be its regional variant name ?

I just use google to find out a variant. The main differences are hardware related, specifically the bands of the device. There is also a chinese version of Oxygen OS which is called Hydrogen OS , but this can change easily by flashing global unlocked OxygenOS without any compromises.
Here you can learn more about the bands in each version : https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/g1rm7e/oneplus_8_pro_versions_and_4glte_and_5g_nr/
Edit: I think there is not a global version bandwise. (US, Europe, India and China as far as i know )

Hi,
Thanks for all this clarification, indeed I've been kinda fooled by marketing speech...
I've bought the OnePlus 8 not on the OnePlus website but on another one, and the announce said "OnePlus International Version IN2010", I was like "cool, plus it's cheap, let's get this".
Now I understand the business behind the whole website (a French one): they buy in China, flash the global rom manually and sells it cheaper, but make a little margin on the final price. That's why they call it international, just because of the ROM!
I knew (but still wanted confirmation) about missing bands a HydrogenOS and now I fully understand the market scheme. So I'll be missing B28 band (used in France with my career for 4G LTE)and an EU-compatible charger. No big deal but I'm kinda disappointed in myself, not being able to see through marketing speech and candidly trusting attractive prices... Well, we learn as we make mistakes (and I'm not ready to forgot that one).
One last think, kil-movil had a section for the OnePlus 8 called "Global" with every bands marked as available, and the model number was still IN2010. I guess they're part of the deal, since when I clicked on "see offers" I was redirected to the website I bought it in.
Even the seller was lying as he said "compatible with every bands in France". And when people ask, he was denying it every single time
Thanks for your explanations tho, I'll be able to warn the next ones at least.

Yup don't worry, I can return it and having all my money back but I don't think I will, my Nextbit Robin (daily driver) is dying and not having B28 4G out of 4 other antennas available isn't a big deal. I have only 50 Mo of data so I don't use 4G often. I would have been bothered by the charger but the seller claims (if it's not a lie) that he gives us an adapter. (Comments says he does, so hopefully he'll do)
Right now the only thing I have to do is getting past the disillusionment with some good music. Have you any title to recommend?

There isn't one man. I suggested EU updates for us here in USA but they have some odd 5g experiences I had happen. It would be super good or non existent. I used the msm tool and reflashed stock global to both slots, no more issues. So just wait it out. I'll capture it asap and share. For now update the latest oneplus system update apk from apk mirror so you are ready to local upgrade. Install it and you get a local upgrade option. The most recent global ota I have which it isn't called North American, but global is the one in the pic.
I'm looking to buy this phone to upgrade my waaaaaaay out of date OnePlus One! Lol! Is there really a difference between the different variants (eg. KB2000, KB2001, KB2003, KB2005) cause I believe the KB2005 is the north american one but from what I've been reading that the 5g band support are through firmware and not hardware (except mmWave bands which require a different antennae). What I'm trying to ask is, if I bought the KB2003 for example, could I flash what would be required for it to work on the bands that the KB2005 come with? Or am I not understanding something correctly here? I appreciate any help with this! I'm kind of trying to future proof a little so that's why I'm worried about the 5g, I was looking into the 7T Pro Mclaren 5g HD1925 and from what I've seen it received the update to support the SA bands on T-Mobile. Any inputs on what device I should get?

Don't be misled by t-mobile variants. Never pan out any positive vs the international variants. It's not called a North American variant, but global. I live in Ohio and buy from oneplus, it's the global variant, the kb2005. Go with it. Mclarens are typically problematic for development. I have two dev friends who have them and haven't been very thrilled with them.

I'm a bit confused.
I just purchased an unlocked Pixel 7 Pro 256GB from Amazon -- Amazon is seller, NOT 3rd party seller with Amazon Fulfilment. I'm trying to root it now. I've been able to unlock the bootloader already. So I'm attempting to download the latest factory image but I'm quite confused as to which one to download. My current build number is TD1A.220804.009.A2. The A2 suffix seems to indicate that this build that came on this phone is for Telstra (AU) Australian market. My question is why is it on the unlocked model that Amazon USA is selling? But then there's no US image except for T-Mobile/Google Fi. Should I download the Global image or stick with the Telstra AU image?
Very confused.
I think all 3 are essentially the same; the only differences are special modifications to the radio for specific carrier (Telstra, Fi, T-Mobile) signals. I imagine, for your purposes, the A2 would be fine.
You might want to wait a couple of days as Google will release a new security firmware update in the next few days...

I'm in the US, on the Verizon network; that's how I learned since I asked the same thing about the difference between the verizon firmware update and the global one -- that it's basically the same other than special considerations to a specific network. The build I'm in is the Feb image TQ1A.230205.002.

I believe the OP is on Telstra (or at least his device has its firmware version), the last Verizon image was in November -- so that is very outdated -- and it might do OP best to wait until March's images are released as it will in a couple of days...
But, if anything, flashing a Global image probably wouldn't do any harm even if OP decided to flash that one either...

I guess my confusion stems from getting a Pixel 7 Pro from US Amazon that has a Telstra AU image preloaded. I'm in CA and my carrier is Xfinity -- which uses Verizon as their backbone. I'm not sure if I can just flash any of these builds on my Pixel 7 pro. Are their hardware differences between the models that are sent around the world? Can I flash the global build onto my Pixel 7 Pro?
So I think you "should" be fine but maybe someone else has a better answer for ya....however, if you can d/l an image just get the standard non-carrier version. I have been on Verizon forever and never use their image. Sometimes I will pull the radio out from it and see if that works better, but usually it does not as best as I can tell.
Also, maybe try this for your version answer...in Settings go to About Phone and then Regulatory Labels. There you will see the Model number for your particular P7P. Do a Google search on that and see what you find and post here to see if anyone can assist further.....mine is GE2AE as an example and I purchased direct from Google in California. Your CA maybe Canada

Thanks. Mine is also GE2AE. I'm in California.
It's got regulatory approval for USA, Canada, EU, UK, AU/NZ, and JP.
So it sounds like I should be able to flash the generic Global build then.
13.0.0 (TQ1A.230205.002, Feb 2023)
There actually is a variant specifically for Verizon and Verizon MVNOs -- of which Xfinity is one.
13.0.0 (TD1A.221105.003, Nov 2022, Verizon, Verizon MVNOs)
But that Verizon variant is Nov 2022. I'll try the latest Global version I guess once March 2023 update comes out in a few days
edit: It still seems exceptionally odd to me that the P7P that Amazon is shipping from their USA warehouses came with an .A2 suffix variant which indicates it's meant for Telstra -- a big carrier in Australia.
Like I said, I dont use the Verizon version, I have always used the standard version. Also as I mentioned, usually the Verizon radio file is differnet, so I have tried flashing that, but never see any real gain. YMMV.
Also, since the March update will be this week, you may as well wait a few days.....IMHO. GL!
Use whatever version is the most recent. If there isn't a Feb Verizon version that means the Verizon specific network changes have been merged into the main branch.
Happens all the time, there will be separate versions now and then until they get it all merged into one. It has always been that way for the Pixels.

Just a heads up, but the global image works on every carrier in the United States. Just stick with the global builds so that some carrier bloatware isn't pulled in during your re-imaging.
So, although there are separate T-Mobile and Verizon factory images - you do not need to use them as the radio images in all of the US builds (and the global build) have the same available bands. The bands that are used are dictated by your SIM or eSIM. This information was provided to me when I had asked a Google rep why there was a T-Mobile factory image (as at one point, there hadn't been separate T-Mobile builds in the past).
Regardless, I have tested this as I have a pSIM (T-Mobile) and an eSIM (Verizon). I only use the global builds and get full network speeds and can connect to the UC and UW towers with both services - no issues whatsoever.
I'm on Verizon. I noticed the best battery life on November. I suspected I may have been because it's the only month since the p7p released that had a VZW-specific release file. I even asked if anyone else could confirm that the differences in radio files between the VZW update and the global could be the reason why many, many people noticed the best battery life on the November update. I asked multiple times to people noting the best battery life during November if they happened to be VZW customers who had chosen this update file. I never have heard an answer or discussion, so I'll ask here again since the topic of discussion is now in the foreground.
Could all the idle drain issues many people discovered since nothing that November update as the best all be VZW users who are now suffering from un-optimized, global radio.imgs in the update . zip? Are past radio files compatible with newer versions? For example, if tomorrow there is no VZW-specific update . zip file could I replace the march radio.img in the .zip with the VZW radio.img from November and then flash_all.bat that modified update .zip to be able to enjoy the optimized VZW radio? What other files are specific to VZW?
Just an FYI, I got an A2 Pixel from Amazon also. It sounds like it's safe to use the global image to root, correct?

For the final time, YES, it is safe to use the global image even if you have an Australian Telstra firmware version on your device even though it was bought from Amazon US...please be finally reassured that it won't break anything and/or be of any issue...

Better to be safe, asking questions thrice, than to end up with a bricked paper weight.

Thanks for your data point.

Just a heads up, but the global image works on every carrier in the United States. Just stick with the global builds so that some carrier bloatware isn't pulled in during your re-imaging.
Regardless, I have tested this as I have a pSIM (T-Mobile) and an eSIM (Verizon). I only use the global builds and get full network speeds and can connect to the UC and UW towers with both services - no issues whatsoever.

Just an FYI, I got an A2 Pixel from Amazon also. It sounds like it's safe to use the global image to root, correct?

Thanks for chiming in with your A2 build from Amazon. At least now I know I'm not the only one getting an A2 build from Amazon USA.

and it might do OP best to wait until March's images are released as it will in a couple of days...

I'm starting to getting antsy waiting. The previous 3 months, they've released an update by the 6th or earlier, but nothing yet on Google site. Come on Google! Release the March 23 update already!

I feel you! This is rather unusual (although it has happened from time to time)...
many in other threads are voicing how anxious they are in waiting too... Google usually aims for the 5th, unless the 5th lands on the weekend (as it was in this case), then it usually aims for the Monday after. What's really crazy is the fact that Samsung has released their March update before Google; Samsung in the past would release months, close to year after Google's update!
