How to relock the OnePlus 8 5G bootloader? - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

I upgraded to the Note 20 ultra and I want to relock my OnePlus 8 5G bootloader for resale. I did unlock the sim as it was originally for TMobile. But when I recently relocked the bootloader it basically was soft bricked, and wouldn't boot past some weird error message about something corrupt. When I unlocked the bootloader again that message went away and it booted fine. One issue is that it won't take an ota it keeps failing to even download. I've tried many times. Not sure what's up with it, but if there is a way to relock the bootloader and have it boot and update the ota I'd be much appreciative.

follow these steps:
1. backup your persist.img file
2. use unbrick tool to recover the phone to an orignal version
3. upgrade to the newest version through OTA
4a. if the fingerprint works, it works all done.
4b. if the fingerprint sensor is abnormal, unlock your phone and flash persist.img, then relock your phone. There will be a series of wiping data during your lock/unlock operation.

Please help me make my phone work properly

This is the case, I have a problem with the Flash ROM, now the phone can go into fastboot, but there is no Recovery, and the phone's bootloader is locked.
You're going to have to give a bit more detail if you want help from this community.
For example:
What phone variant do you have?
What did you have on your phone when it was running properly? i.e stock android, locked bootloader, rooted etc.
What 'Flash ROM" do you mean a factory image or custom ROM?
What had been trying to do to your phone i.e upgrade from Android 9 to 10 by sideloading an image?
Had you previously unlocked the bootloader?
I'm not saying that I will ultimately be able to resolve your issues but the more info you give the more likely someone here will.
Now,my pixel 3 can not work, the bootload is locked.when I select recovery by fastboot,The phone noticed me can not find vaild operating system, the device will not start.
I used to unlock the bootloader, it is because I locked the bootloader that this situation has occurred.
Can you unlock the bootloader again in fastboot?

Cannot unlock device state again

So I had my phone rooted with twrp and magisk and I used msm tool to switch to international which seems to have put my phone back to the stock tmo firmware and now.i am unable to unlock my device state with the unlock_code.bin and my bootloader is locked. Says I am still sim unlocked though. Any help?
Was able to figure it out and reflash the unlock token

Can't Flash TWRP

Hi friends, I own one Asus Zenfone max pro m1 and I recently wanted it's bootloader to be unlocked and I tried the unofficial method but didn't worked. So I chose the official method. It wasn't a good experience because I was successful after several attempts. Don't know why... But after installing and unintalling and then reinstalling the unlock tool several times somehow I managed to unlock the bootloader. Now it's showing fastboot mode instead of csc fastboot so I believe it's bootloader is unlocked.
But as I tried to flash twrp using Bugjaeger app from another phone(since I think I'm having issues with usb 3.0 port on my lap) it's showing "Flashing not allowed in Lock state".
How can I be sure to know if my bootloader is unlocked or not? And whatif I flash rom directly(using adb/fastboot) without twrp with Corvos OS? Will O be stuck on a boot loop?
I finally came to solve my problem by trying to unlock the bootloader again and again by official method. And after 3 attempts it was succesfully unlocked (unlocked properly). I could flash twrp without any difficulties and Im on Abhix Rog version now..

SIM Unlocked Sprint OP7Pro OEM Unlock Greyed Out?

I have a SIM Unlocked OnePlus 7 Pro 5G that originally started out as a sprint phone, its SIM unlocked (instantly activated on my verizon sim) but OEM unlock is still greyed out? Thought it was supposed to enable once the device is sim unlocked?
fixed above but now if I try to flash twrp or any custom Boot.img for a rom, it freezes and I have to MSM the device.? Even tried a GSI, just boots back to bootloader... actually seems to freeze if I do ANYTHING in fastboot as far as flashing anything. I even fastboot flashed 9.5.11 and it boots straight to bootloader
U just need the proper TWRP, and you don't need to reflash msm every time, it's all just the boot image.

Relock Bootloader

My device is a OnePlus 8T originally purchased from T-Mobile. I unlocked the bootloader to flash OxygenOS 12 in the open beta. Everything is working splendidly, but I can't seem to relock the bootloader. Using fastboot flashing lock, I get an error message asking me to flash the unlock token first. When attempting fastboot flash cust-unlock unlock_token.bin, I get an error asking to turn on OEM unlocking. OEM unlocking is greyed out because the bootloader is unlocked. Can you help? Thanks!

here brother:
Thanks, but my phone asks for an unlock token when I execute fastboot oem lock or fastboot flashing lock I get the error message: FAILED (remote: 'Please flash unlock token first.') When attemptIng to flash the token, I get the error message: FAILED (remote: 'Please turn on OEM unlocking in Settings - Developer option'). I heard back from OnePlus Support, and it sounds like I would need to perform a factory reset in order to lock the bootloader. That would revert the phone to the T-Mobile OxygenOS 11 image. I unlocked the bootloader so that I could flash the global OxygenOS 12 image. Also, I'm hearing from other folks in the OnePlus Community that the bootloader should remain unlocked if I'm in the beta. I'm not sure about that, but, for now, I haven't found a way to lock the bootloader and retain the beta image. Thanks, tho, I appreciate the link.

Yeah, there is no way to retain the beta image until OnePlus Gives an official update of OxygenOS 12 for your phone. and if you want to lock bootloader, u have to be on the official version.
BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO LOCK BOOTLOADER AND USE OxygenOS 12 FOR NOW. SO STOP SEARCHING
Gotcha - makes sense and will do. Thanks again!

There is no mentioning of unlocking bootloader for OB1 OOS12 in official thread.
@scothouse I ran into a smiliar situation with the OnePlus 8 5g tmobile. After installing the global Rom and upgrading to android 12 i couldnt relock it.
so what i did was downgrade my phone to android 11. the OEM unlocking was still greyed out but i was able to execute the fastboot flash cust-unlock unlock_token.bin command. then voila i locked it.
once you do that then update your phone then you are down.
Just use MSM tools. Of course everything will be factory reset

Were you able to re-upgrade to Android 12 once the bootloader was locked again?

Yes with OTA
In case anyone is on Android 13, I was able to re-lock the bootloader without issue.
I didn't need the unlock_token back when I flashed the global ROM to replace the Tmo one. I do need the token for the re-lock purpose though
