I paid £379 in March from the official UK store. I'm really happy with it for the price.

That was my logic too. Camera was the main feature I wanted.
There's obviously more options out there now, so it might not be as competitive as it was 8 months ago in March.
I wasn't bothered about 5g as I thought it would be at least a year or 2 before 5g benefits my area. Obviously there's been 8 months more of 5g infrastructure so depending where you live, and your needs, a 5g capable phone could be preferable?

I still dont see that much need for 5G in a year at least so that wont be a problem, but the curvy screen is something i was looking to avoid as i dont like it, it is the only downside for me at the moment.
I was also looking into oneplus nord but i really think the camera is inferior, mi 10 and mi note 10 are still the ones im looking into right now, and they got amazing prices this end of the year.

In my area I agree with you about 5g atm, but if I was planning to keep the phone for 2 years I might then think about 'future' proofing.
I didn't fancy the curved screen either, as I was worried how screen protectors would work. Fortunately screen protectors still protect the screen, I've dropped my phone plenty and it's unharmed.
It can be difficult touching the edge of the screen at times, and you can accidently click on the curved edge, but neither of these things is a big deal. On the positive side the curve allows for a larger screen.

Yeah you got an important point about the 5G and having a phone that will last. There is also the mi 10, which have better processor and is at a huge deal of 399.

I'd get the Mi 10 at €399 over the Mi Note 10 at €400. A Mi 10 at that price is currently a brilliant deal!
I wanted the Mi 10 but in the UK the Mi 10 was £799 and I got the Mi Note 10 for only £379.

Is the moto g good enough for my needs?

I currently have a galaxy note 2 and i can't say i dont like it but it's just not for me.. Even though i got a large hand (still can't reach the end of the phone using one hand though). I usually go out riding my bicycle quite often and the note 2 feels too heavy in my pockets, i can't even sit without taking the phone out of my pocket which gets very annoying. I really liked watching movies and all on my note 2 but i probably don't feel like getting a Samsung phone again because of the Hardware home buttons.
Anyway the moto g is getting sold for 245$ here, and it looks nice and light so i wonder if it's worth the price here? Or are there any phones that are going to meet my needs? (lasts a day of light or medium use and is easy to carry)
Thanks in advance.
Buy it
Enjoy

I can surely recommend this phone.
Only drawback can be the fixed memory.
For me this is not an issue. But it might be an issue for others.
Although I am not a movie watcher on phones, the MotoG is pretty good at it.
I find the scrolling in app like Facebook is even better than note 3. But the camera is really lousy even comparing to iPhone 4. So think twice if you take a lot of photos with your phone.

I take pictures of essays and other school related things, and that's pretty much it. Are words clear if you zoom after taking the pictures?
And also is the 245$ price reasonable? Because its cheaper in other countries
Absolutely clear for photos of notes. That's what I use it for precisely. Otherwise the camera is decent at best. 245 bucks is still very much worth. In India it's about 220$ or so for 16 gigs. And I'd say that's a crazy deal. Coming from a 600$ One X, all the more sweeter.

Absolutely a very good price compared to the Netherlands. There a 16Gb is around 1060 AED.

Nope, there's virtually no competition at that price point. You could find a Nexus 4 somewhere but that would be at least 100$ costlier.

I have been using the moto g for almost a month and while it does and will consistently meet your requirement of 'a day of moderate usage', it's weight is slightly on the bulkier side. That said, once you get used to its weight, it is a pure steal at the price points it is being sold at.
PS: psst, update to kitkat, enable developer options, toggle to Art and also try the Google now launcher in it. May have to download the package from external sources. Epic

The Note 2 is better.. but if it's too big then get the Moto G i guess.
Have you tried getting used to the Note 2 size anyways? I had a 3.5" phone to a 4.5" phone and the 4.5" felt too big.
A few weeks passed and now i'm used to it, in fact i'm never going to go under 4.5" in my next purchase.
I switched from a Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Moto G is better for my needs, smaller, actually snappier in general, better battery life, feels like much better build quality for a much cheaper phone, and the only thing I missed from the S4 is OTG USB but update fixed that! So even if you are needed space for films ect, wack them on a USB and buy a cheap small cable and you've got more storage when needed!
You won't be disappointed!

@SamsungAdmire it was never about getting used to the size, i do find anything smaller than the note 2 small but the note 2 doesn't fit me even though i really want to use it.. It's just too heavy and hard to carry around while cycling. The moto g seems like the phone for me.
Thanks everyone! I guess I'll just get it

Sorry guys but now I'm also considering the nexus 5, i know if bigger than the moto g but is it also easier to carry?
Thanks
If you are spoiled by the battery life of the note, then you will love the Moto G. Just as smooth (maybe smoother) and great screen quality. biggest sacrifice is the camera so that part is up to you.
I came from a Note 3 and haven't missed it since (ok maybe just multi window lol)

imo
I think you need to sell your Note II and buy Moto G together with a tablet (nexus 7 maybe?) so you can enjoy also watching movies
OK i know I'm getting really annoying but how is the moto g for people with large hands? I have a really large hand, and the mobile store is like an hour away and I'm tacky busy atm

HTC U ULTRA 64GB for 275€ in amazon... worth it?

I have just found it, looks like a bargain to me... I know it is not perferct, and definitely a no-no for the 700€ they asked when released, but for 275.... opinions?
Thanks.
I bought mine 3 weeks ago for 360 euro and am definitely happy with it. For 275 eur your can't go wrong in my opinion.
great phone ath this price
I am also considering this phone since in my country i can get it for 300 euros. Only concern I have is battery life and heating... Some reviewers reported heating while regular use and extensive heating while playing games. Russians posted a review where the temperature got up to 57C...
Well i am coming from snapdragon 808 based phone (lg v10) so this one is definitely much cooler. During normal benchmarks for a new phone (antutu 6, 3dmark) it scored well for snapdragon 821 based phone and remained cool. I personally do not play heavy games but for multimedia (including 4k stream from youtube) it does not get hot. Regarding battery life - comparing with my lg v10 which also have 3000 mah battery i get better battery life from the u ultra with the same apps. Standby drain is good and with light usage it can get up to 3 or maybe even 4 days. With my typical moderate to light usage (1 hour music listening, 30 minutes watching video, maybe around 2 hours browsing and viber chat per day) it easily handles 2 days usage so i am ok with that.
Thank you for your reply. What version do u have ( i mean color). Also, that battery life is too good to be true in my opinion since everyone bashed it battery. And the size ? is it a problem since i never used big phones.
I have the unlocked european version. Color is black. Size is similar to my old V10 and is not uncomfortable at least for me. It is good idea to get it in your hand before buying. Regarding the battery - i come from phone with bad battery life due to the combination of big screen and hot and power hungry cpu so u ultra is improvement for me. I personally rate battery life as average. If you come from phone with better battery life you can be disappointed but with quick charge enabled chargers, car adapters and even power banks these days it is not so much of a problem. My advice is to see the battery life rating in gsm arena review and compare it with the rating of your current phone to see if it will be better or worse.
Since my current phone is a Nexus 6, I don't think its size is going to be a problem.
That is the problem i cant see phone in person i can order it only online. Thank you for your replays.
I sold my s8 plus for it. I have the 128GB Saphire Edition any i love it. 6 to 7 sot mo lag great Camera and no heat at all..

Amazon, the prices vary sharply depending on the colour and storage capacity. Right now, 32GB black units cost 189€ (damn, it wasn't like that a month ago, I'd happily give up 32GB for a 90€ discount)
Whereas 64GB pinks cost 365€
I don't think there is a 32gb variant of u ultra, is it? As far as I remember only 64gb and 128gb for the sapphire glass edition.
So it might be the u play..?

You guys are right. When you select 64GB, it is a U Ultra, but if you switch to 32, it is a U Play unit instead. I think this is a mistake (I have just reported it) that could lead to buy the wrong phone . Anyway, the prices vary from a colour to other. Currently, the cheapest is the white one, for 262€, when I purchased it a month ago, the black one was the cheapest.

Battery life is pretty average. Not good, not bad. 6-7/10. But there is no heat or lag. Works fine
Definitely better than in MotoZ
Temps are ok unless quick charging, but that is generally normal. Sometimes small lags happen.
For this price is much better than any chinese phone, unless you can't handle this size.

OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro? which one should I buy? Confused

Hi,

Wrong forum section! .
There are so many reviews right now.
You know your budget and your preferences. The decision should be easy.
Go for 7 Pro if have budget
If you think about 7, keep 6T.
7 Pro, yes, if you got the cash.
Wrong section, and if u have 6T then NONE of them just wait 1 more year
Get the Pro if you have the Dough...
Same here. Torn between the 2.
7 Pro:
+'ves
Better screen
Curved glass
More colours
Extra rear camera
-'ves
Pop up camera
Worse battery life
Curved glass (- for some)
Price
Too big
Too heavy/top heavy
7
+'ves
Cheaper
Same cameras, stereo speakers, waterproofing, upgraded fingerprint sensor, o/s, CPU
Flat screen
Nice size
Better battery life
-'ves
Slightly slower screen
Teardrop notch
Limited colours
Only 2 rear cameras
The 7 has been overshadowed by the pro but the specs are still very good. As usual not so much of an upgrade from the 6T. My 6 was smashed recently and I'm down to my OnePlus One (I couldn't wrench the OnePlus 3 from my son, I didn't have the heart).
At the same price as the Redmi K20 the 7 with the superb Oxygen O/S wins easily for me.
Yes that pop up camera will break. It'll get grit in it and will be a constant annoyance.
In daily use, after the novelty has worn off, and your not comparing it side by side, no one will notice the speed of the screen, including you.

Hi. Going by your priorities, it's a no contest. Go for the 7. Good luck
PS: I haven't used either, but I'd fill in that table exactly how you have. I barely use the camera. So I'd go for the 7 as well
I got the Pro (my first oneplus phone) but returned it after 3 days. I found the reflections down the sides on the curved screen were just plain ugly and distracting. I suspect I'm on my own on this as I've not seen any mention of it in reviews. I may try the flat screen of the 7, not decided yet.
I will suggest onePlus 7 since it is in more reasonable price and no ghost touch issue
If you have enough budget you can get Oneplus 7 pro. But if you want the same performance and speed like the oneplus 7 pro in a better price you can go with oneplus 7.
Hello,
In my case I think even if they would have same price I would pick the non-pro version, mainly for the flat screen, no moving camera, smaller size, and better battery life with the lower resolution screen. The only point I give to the op7 pro is the zoom. I would also like to know if you would go for the K20pro, knowing that you can find those at a similar price. I think the op7 has better connectivity, in terms of frequency bands, so if you are a person that travels frequently, you would run out of network in some countries. (Additionally op7 has front speakers)

Bought the 7 Pro. Used for about a week, returned it. Got the 7 now, totally happy with it. I switched from the 6T, btw.
7 Pro is heavy and I personally don't like heavy phones. But the display is smooth af. Love it totally. But the curves on both sides of the display make no practical use. And the curves also start much earlier compared to Samsung flagships which means the reflections on it affect the content on the screen. Also I didn't exactly like the feel while typing on the curved edges. And the ultrawide camera on the 7 Pro is totally unusable in lowlight.
7 has a flat display and doesn't look as good as the 7 Pro but flat screens are so much more practical. And since it's lighter than the 7, feels good in hands too. Cameras are pretty much the same on both (although f/1.6 on the pro and f/1.7 on the regular).
The speakers are a tad bit louder and better on the 7 Pro, not saying 7's are bad in any way. And Idk why the fingerprint scanner on the 7 Pro feels a bit faster, but don't get me wrong, the 7's is blazing fast too. Despite having a 20W charger, 7 actually charges faster because of the smaller battery. But I must say it gives me better battery backup than the 7 Pro did (because of course the QHD and 90Hz drain a lot of juice).
I'd say, go for the regular 7. It's a better value for money device and doesn't really miss out on anything while compared to the Pro except for the extra cameras and QHD 90Hz display.
Oh and one thing about the Pro, if you get a video call the front cam is gonna popup (even if your phone is in the pocket or a bag). Idk how it's gonna affect it but it doesn't seem like a nice implementation. [UPDATE: Oxygen OS 9.5.8 fixes this!]

No thanks. If you misplaced it that's the end. It also looks like it has curved glass. Another no thanks.
I'm beginning to really appreciate my Nex S more and more as new phones are being released. The OpO 7pro is admittedly an upgrade but nothing that tempts me to change. The Zenfone 6 is nice too but early battery numbers indicate the Nex matches the longevity despite that extra 1000mah and a 7nm soc. If this is the Nex S2 then I'm quite happy sticking with my old reliable one for now.
I agree. Curved glass should be against the law. It serves no purpose other than - what?
No reason to leave the Vivo Nex S until Android R is out (he will get Android Q), so we have 1 more year .
I would be maybe ready to upgrade only if i can get one with 5G, Wifi 6 (802.11.AX) and 5'000MAH battery but really no reason to change, the NEX is solid and still really fast.
I'm not leaving my NEX S until there's a device which blows this phone out of the water , specs wise I'm looking for 12gb ram, 6-7 inch super amoled or 4k screen, 90 herz refresh would be nice, under display or pop up camera, 4500 - 5000mah battery, latest prosseser stockish android, not bothered about a headphone Jack, I use Bluetooth, under display finger print reader optional, I was tempted too get the one plus 7 pro but I'm holding out for something that really floats my boat, I'm really happy with this phone at the moment so I'll hold on, Ive just got that itch too buy a new device, maybe the note 10 pro, but that camera hole in the screen is putting me off big-time

With Vivo it's impossible getting stock or near stock Android experience.
Neither Note 10 offers near stock Android experience but agree that would be top of the line smartphone.
As with Vivo will shall see what going to release or not.
There's uncertainty if gone be successor of Nex S or not.

I agree it was 2-3 year ego but not any more.

OEM skins are still and will remain ahead of stock. There are plenty of useful features that stock still doesn't have. For example, I just started using Easy Touch on my NexS and set it to pull down the notification shade instead of reaching or using two hands. It's transformed the phone for me.

Yes OEM still have the advantages over features and functionality but stock android has closed the gap.
Still prefer some OEM skin over stock but wouldn't consider any more deal breaker having device with stock or near stock android.

Not necessarily a deal breaker but I'll take an OEM skin 9 times out of 10.

To be honest I would consider Pixel device as my number one priority if had full screen experience without any stupid notch or punch holes and being 300-350 bucks cheaper that what costs. [emoji14]
Until then I'm dealing with Oneplus or Vivo as I'm aware of the software and how to manage it to meet my needs as better could be.
Sammy or Huawei as much as tried always something bothered me and couldn't deal with it as everyday long-term living with them.

I'm not a fan of Pixel devices. Ugly design, software bugs, average battery life and no dual-sim. Right now my sot is 4hrs 26mins with 63% remaining. This phone is amazing.
But has superior camera performance, ip68 water resistant, stereo speakers, instant updates.
Yes they're ugly as hell that's why I wouldn't consider yet as alternative +they're costs more than my budget.
So every users at the end choice whatever meets their needs.
Nobody perfect.

Huawei Mate 20 X comparison @ GSMarena
What do you think? Will this be the Mate 20 X killer?
The 5G might kill the battery, but it does looks good
That back gaming gimmick design isn't my cup of tea, looks awkward and that big tencent game logo. Also these triggers buttons are useless to me.
If you're a heavy phone gamer its definitely worth it though.
I just saw this in xda news
Looks great.
Has to be more affordable than the s20 ultra by a wide margin. $715
Are these phones easy to boot loader unlock and root?

Same question.. bootloader unlock and hopefully custom firmware as well? Lineage OS or something?
Did some research and the bands won't really work with AT&T.. Only 2 of 4 LTE. Sad face..
One thing to note , you won't get many updates on these phones.

No? Xiaomi is third place with updates, little better than Huawei

I've been looking at this one since it was announced.
If I can't get my hands on a good deal Mate Xs trough some of the local operators, I'll definitely be getting it instead!
Or Mi 10s same Screen Size 7,1.

But I think there should be an option to lower the speed to LTE. I'm guessimg but not sure. But anyway even if it doesn't, I don't mind since 95% of the time I'll be using wifi. So battery won't be an issue.

That makes no sense. Although these are niche phones they are flagship in their own right considering the specs and peice.
I say updates will be regular. They have to be again according to the hefty price tag and high spec sheet.

Remember the Shark doesn't support TMobile bands at all 4g LTE. Maybe if they introduce an international model it might.

According to info I saw it supports tmobile and at&t. In terms of 4g coverage you'll be ok as long as you're in a big city.

Has one less tmobile band than that mate 20x. LTE band 2. Used often for me.

Nope, this 19.5:9 kills it.
