The "install image" button doesn't allow you to flash TWRP over eRecovery_ramdisk, which is quite important if you want to root device on EMUI 9.1 .
What is the difference between the official 3.4.0.0 TWRP version and yours, if I may ask?

Hi,
Many custom recoveries doesn't let you do it, but i remember you that i could add this option in the future, to make the recovery better.
I've decided to share this TWRP, because i want to start development on Anne. This was my first project, and I want to continue, so I'd want to share with the community all my projects, starting from now.:highfive:

Hi,
I want to say that i cloned that TWRP' sources, cause there aren't alternatives. And, this is my first work, so....
The first times you build, it's normal to do something wrong, or to make something based on another work. And after all, i know the developer who built Official TWRP and i can message with him, so you can understand that if he wants to talk with me about this, he can do it

Hi,
Thanks for the support,
I will ask to him that: I'd want to become a developer like him.
Yeah, the road to the success will be long, but I can't wait to start a new development!
This is one my favourites hobbies, so, I hope to start developing a new project soon!:fingers-crossed:

First of all let me say that it is nice to see developers trying their best to bring support for our devices...Kudos to you.
If you want to continue development in a custom rom for P20 Lite I have an: ANE-LX1 9.1.0.200(C432E6R1P7), bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed. If you want to develop Android 11 for this device I can help you test it. Thanks.

Well,
I'd want one day to make a custom ROM, but i have to say that i don't know if my PC can handle a ROM building.
For now, let's try to make this TWRP better, adding for example more options to choose when flashing an IMG file, or more partitions to choose between, when doing a backup.
And, as I said before, i'm not a developer yet, for now, the things I do and publish, are only for testing.
But i want to become a developer.
Let's see what future deserves for me.
And one last thing: developing for hi6250 isn't too bad, for a start. What do you think about this?
Cheers

Hi
I suggest you to install CrDroid ROM, based on Android Pie, you will get a lag-free experience, and an interface like LineageOS one, but with nice custom settings to customize your phone how do you want and you like.

Disclaimer:
Altough we are working hard to deliver a bug-free rom, things may break and we are not responsible if something goes wrong and your hardware becomes damaged or if you have any problem, you are taking a risk flashing roms.
Hi, so you might wonder why the other thread got closed and what's all of this about. Well, the answer is that now I'll be maintaining this rom while Surdu will take care of Resurrection Remix, the rom is the same and you can flash this builds without wiping if you had the 'older' rom.
Instructions:
If you come from stock EMUI 5.0:
Install TWRP (Available in this subforum)
Format data
Flash vendor.zip
Flash LineageOS's zip
If you already have LineageOS:
Flash LineageOS's zip
Downloads:
Find them in this DevDB project section called 'Downloads' (you might need to use a computer)
Bugs:
Encryption
Changelog:
Code:
01/06/2017 - Fixed random reboot issue
01/06/2017 - Added loop support
29/06/2017 - Fixed tethering
29/06/2017 - Fixed shaky camera
29/06/2017 - Updated Lineage source
Asking for help...
There are still some little bugs to fix and things will break from time to time, so in order to properly help you and keep the thread organized every help petition should include:
Brief description of the issue
A way to replicate it
Screenshots/Logs
Without that information, your post will be futile so please meet those easy conditions and try to keep the thread clean!
Last but not least, thanks to the whole OpenKirin team (@surdu_petru @OldDroid) for their amazing job at keeping updated roms for kirin devices as well as helping with this one.

Sorry about that, there must be a problem with XDA servers, it's taking more than an hour to upload! And unfortunately I couldn't upload it without posting the DevDB thread, if it keeps working like that I'll find a more reliable storage solution.
I am really sorry! Check back in 5 minutes or so
Very nice job, and happy you fixed the issue. I'll set it as my daily driver once everything's OK
So what exactly caused the issues ? I'm curious as to whether it could have been solved on our own (i do say without Huawei's kind but forced operations).
And what do we do with that vendor.zip ? Flash it on top of Lineage's original Vendor package ?
(EDIT : Check post on top, the joys of cross-posting )
Still, thank you immensely on behalf of all the community

Hi, the problem was that a driver introduced by Huawei checked the time that it takes to boot (running in a kthread), if it takes more than three minutes it reboots to eRecovery, but it looks like it waits for a signal from userspace to check if it booted (like, write 1 to /sys/.... Whenever it boots).
We were actually aware of this being the issue, and tried to avoid it by editing the function's code (ARM64 instructions because we had no source (By filling the function with NOP or returning 0)) but we didn't succeed at first and thought that the kernel release was near so it made no sense to keep wasting time on it, if you want to see more details just go to github and check what we did, I hope that you understood the explanation.
Thanks for your kind words!
EDIT: The rom is up, you can download it now.
The Lineage zip file has uploaded! Thanks again for all your guys work.
Thx for your job. I'll now have to unlock the bootloader and start flashing. Two questions: can I lock the bootloader again once I installed LOS? Do i need to install twrp or is it enough to just boot it for installation?

Not at all, you need to be on EMUI in order to relock it. (You can if you go back to EMUI but I think that you asked if you could do that while you are on LineageOS).

Hello, what about a device that has a current working version of TWRP but is not maintained, does not have encryption working and is the older 3.1.1 version?
I'm mainly asking for the encryption as a lot of people are going to find it very useful. I'm not using it myself but still. I have some knowledge about it, can't do it myself but can help quite a bit if someone agrees to do it

Actually, it doesn't matter which recovery your device has. As long as it boots and works well, there wouldn't be any problem.
If you're already rooted, just install our app and apply steps to create request. Recovery that you already have will be uploaded to our servers and this is ok.

Dear developers,
Thank you so much for the efficent work!
I got a twrp build after upoading stock recovery within a day.
It boots into recovery mode successfully. But touch is not working. I can barely screen on and off with power key. So I cannot test how it works.
FYI, devloper nkk71 was working at this build and almost completed. The remaining issue is decrypt in twrp.

Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
5) Please keep bugreports to this thread or Discord. Do NOT create a Jira ticket. This is still in early development so we don't accept any bugreports yet.

Fine!! Another Pie Rom!!! Thanks @dev!!!
Someone flash it already! Where's Koogly? We need a Youtube review.
Wow! I used to use CarbonROM on my OnePlus One back in the day. Nice work bringing it officially!
doesn't support flashing on encrypted devices ;(
How does it compare to ResurrectionRemix? I'm eyeballing alternatives to RR that sport signature spoofing and CarbonROM seems like a good candidate.

I played with this ROM for 30mins or so earlier when I was choosing to go with CarbonROM or DU 13.1 and it has some nice features.
Not nearly as many as HavocOS for examples but a good amount of the core ones you expect.

Thanks or your quick review for Carbon ROM CR-7.0
Please let us know:
1) Does it support encryption?
2) Is sellinux enforcing?
3) does it suppot full substratum support with service mode?
4) How is the battery back-up with mixed usage?
Hello, if anyone has flashed this ROM coming from an encrypted OOS 5.0.8, could you please confirm if it supports FDE by default and i won't need to format my /data and re-encrypt?

Nopes! I'll wait before flashing it then. At this point, I'd hope every Pie ROM has that patch but I understand Carbon is still new to this device on Pie and the maintainer must have missed that patch. Thanks a ton for answering my query!
Might be nice to include a link to CarbonROM website as mentioned in the OP.

I think these commits might be the required ones to make it work. I did some digging and found about them. I can be wrong as well but hope it's worth a look.

Thanks for the pie update. On Oreo, there was a bug where going into data settings would crash settings app. Does it happen on pie too?
Edit: No more crashes :highfive:

As I said, 10.3.2 is the recommended vendor.
As I do not have the device myself I cannot debug the fingerprint issue easily.

Also, will there be updates to this ROM or is this it? Hoping for just a slice of pie, maybe? Since its open source, does that mean other people can provide patches to this? My android skills are limited to flashing and backing up only haha

Sorry, I wasn't rushing you. I'm currently backing up now, so excited
OK I'm writing this as I do it:
Was MIUI 10.3.2 as recommended. Also used TWRP 3.2.3-1020 by L.R.team
Wiped DATA, formatted data, then formatted Dalvik/ART Cache + system + cache, Flashed ROM, Flashed gapps pico. Reboot.
At first I got a bootloop, but then I rebooted into recovery and tried to reboot into fastboot, but then I "accidentally" rooted (believe it or not). And then I got to the splash screen. Then it said that "my vendor image does not match the system. Please flash the O11019 vendor image for your device." (This might be because of my root, MIUI gave a similar error (system error, etc)., I pressed OK, my phone started to encrypt itself, and then 30 seconds later, it rebooted.
First boot took 60 seconds only. Setup was easy and went smoothly.
Camera (picture+video), hotspot, all working. It seems to be stable. (Except fingerprint ofc) Calls working fine
Thank you so much for this! I will test battery life after installing greenify overnight.
EDIT:
I take this back. OUTGOING calls work fine, but INCOMING calls do not work. INCOMING and OUTGOING TEXTS (SMS) DO NOT work..
Sorry for the confusion. At the moment I can't see any more bugs. After I get CarbonROM setup and everything I'll make a full backup, then revert to MIUI for the moment.
Still, thank you for your development, I may search around the forums for a solution. This issue was common on other custom roms for ther edmi 6
One more edit: Apparantly LTE was causing issues. I changed to 3G and everything is fixed. But now I can't select LTE again. (Mobile Network>Preferred Network Type)

What is R?
Our release of Android 11, titled CR-9.0.
It provides you with the features you need while keeping the focus on delivering an elegant, smooth, and well polished experience. R delivers a set of unique features, like a system-wide font engine that also allows for applying fonts on user apps while supporting user fonts through custom APKs generated on fonts.carbonrom.org. We are confident you'll love it, and there's many more things to discover

Install Instructions:
You should start off with the latest OxygenOS stable build on both slots and then proceed to flash Carbon.
The easiest way to do that is by installing the latest Version and then copy it by flashing the copy-partitions script made by LineageOS in the recovery. (See install Instructions for the recovery)
The recommended way to install is using the CarbonRecovery linked below.
Download the ROM and optionally GApps, reboot to recovery by flashing the boot.img using
Code:
fastboot flash boot guacamole-YYYYMMDD-HHMM-boot.img
followed by booting to recovery through the bootloader.
Sideload the ROM. (Apply Update -> Apply from ADB -> Connect to PC ->
Code:
adb sideload CARBON-CR-9.0-R-WEEKLY-guacamole-YYYYMMDD-HHMM.zip
Reboot recovery (to switch between slots)
Flash GApps/MicroG through sideload like above (optional)
Factory reset -> Format data/factory reset (Make sure to have a backup of your data)
Done
Followup builds can be updated through the builtin CarbonDelta Updater or by dirtyflashing.
