Note 20 ultra unlocked root N986U1 - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hello I'm I just bought the note 20 ultra unlocked version and I wanted to know if any one has found a way to root the SM-N986U1 version.
I know some people one the forms were saying certain versions of the phone would not show OEM unlock. Mine is one of them.
I didn't know if maybe there is a method I can use other than having to select the OEM unlock before going through the root methods?
Without going through a paid service.
Thanks for any help ?

SM-G955W Oreo Root?

Hello everyone, I've been looking to root my S8+ G995W on 8.0 oreo for a while now, but I haven't had any luck.
I previously traded my oneplus 5T for this s8+, and according to the receipt provided to me it was from Koodo and it's unlocked (not sure if koodo unlocks bootloaders though). I've looked through the developer options and I see no OEM unlock option, and I also had a friend try to run me through a couple things with fastboot to unlock the bootloader from there, but we've had no luck.
If anyone requires more information to help me out, please do let me know
I've decided to turn here as my last resort, hopefully there is someone that has been in my same spot and knows how to root this variant, thank you!

When a carrier says that the phone is unlocked, they're saying that it's SIM unlocked (not bootloader unlocked).

G955W is the Canadian variant with the snapdragon chip, snapdragon = no bootloader unlock. The only model you can unlock the bootloader is the international variant with the exynos chip (and carrier don't have them).

That won't work because samsung uses other services.

As of right now, I don't think that you can root with oreo. The only way that I'm aware of is this method but it's on nougat and you have the 80% battery limit.
If you really wanted to play with rom, mods and everything, you should have kept your 5t.
Hope this helps.

looking for possible root after update?

I got my OP7Pro yesterday and it updated overnight to 9.5.5 and I'm curious if there are any ways to root this on the US T-Mobile version... Also, I'm very new to rooting as I've only ever rooted 1 tablet using kingo root.....My last curiosity is what are the chances of getting 1-click method support for this model and version?

Have you SIM unlocked yet? You typically can't if you haven't yet paid the device off, and in addition, you must have had the device for 40 days...HOWEVER...many people, myself included, have lucked out in talking to a rep via T-Mobile Help on Twitter, and have been granted a SIM unlock! Then, you must unlock your bootloader by obtaining an unlock .bin from OnePlus. I'm waiting for their website to be updated with the method to obtain it for the OP 7 Pro, like it was for the 6T.

After reading things and figured out that I need it unlocked I decided to message T-Mobile on Facebook, I'm an ex employee and I usually get what I want because I speak their language so I'm hoping I get it
Awesome! Best of luck

Is there any way to unlock my phone.

I bought a oneplus 7 pro without paying much attention to the fine print. The phone apparently has an IMEI issue and it locked to T-mobile. I want to use it in UAE, is there any way I can unlock it and use it here. It has already been shipped and I can't cancel my order.
PS: Can I unlock my bootloader and install custom roms.
Dinner... You should be able to unlock the bootloader and root it, but it will remain Sim-locked to t-mobile. There are services online that will unlock it from the t-mobile network.
Sent from my OnePlus7Pro using XDA Labs

I think there might be a way actually. Haven't personally tried it, but many have said it works. It looks like on the the Android 10 Developer Preview 3, you can actually bypass the token, and unlock the bootloader! I'm not sure if the phone would still technically be SIM locked to T-Mobile (if you wanted to use another carrier), but honestly have no idea. But at least from what it sounds like you should be able to unlock the bootloader, and flash custom roms.
Check out these posts, and the main XDA article that has instructions:

You still need an unlock token from OnePlus to unlock the TMO model, even on global firmware. It takes about a week from request to processing. You can get around it by flashing the A10 DP3 OTA, and it won't check for the token.

I bought an extra 7 Pro since It was only $450 through T-Mobile. If you're looking for a way to unlock the bootloader as soon as you get it you can. You can follow the guide here. It worked perfectly on mine:

HELP ME WITH THIS CHALLENGE PLEASE, I WOULD BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL. BASEBAND VERSION A515USQU1ATBH :good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good:
You currently cannot unlock any US version of this phone.
Never
so this phone is impossible to aquire root permission ?
Yes. It is impossible to root (unlock bootloader) currently. This phone may never be rooted. Brought one for my spouse, she does not need root. When I found out that it cannot be rooted, I passed on buying one for myself. Nice phone.
Yeah but its about the challenge of discovering the formula. You guys always find away when we get a good thread going, and put are ideas together.
Plus got rid for of my verizon firmware and flashed the usa unlocked
sm-A515U1UEU1ATC8_A515U1OYM1ATC8_XAA_10.0 download zip https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261804108 follow this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a51/how-to/a515u-a515u1-firmware-links-flashing-t4092311..
at least i could get rid of all the verizon bloatware and most of samsung bloatware too but phone really not compatible with other network providers, it prompts me for verizon network unlock code if i put a diferent sim card att and sprint.
You need a sim unlock to use a different carrier. Check with Verizon. People that purchase this phone should not expect it will be bootloader unlocked.
Well that sucks, but your wrong I did network unlock without any codes, I just changed the apn settins, i didn't pay nothing to no one. And it is possible to unlock bootloader if u got 65 dollars, any Samsung usa variant from s9 and up https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...unlock-for-samsung-us-canada-devices.4215101/ or here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/sampwnd-usa-model-bl-unlock-info-u-u1-w.4201689/ , but I can't afford it so im going to have to figure it out on my own like usual, plus I only payed 15 dollars for this phone and the screen is already cracked, I know how to replace it but Samsung screens are such a pain and expensive, im waiting to find something worth wild on offer up so I can finish trashing this one.

No, and it's been more than 7 days.
No way to root for free unfortunately, Samsung locks down their US/Canadian phones real hard, probably at the request of certain cell carriers.
Wish I could root my S326DL as well, Tracfone model.
I don't even think you can root the USA T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy A32-5G (SM-A326U) for payment, can you?
The only "unlock" you can do is the network unlock (AFAIK).
I don't think the boot loader can be OEM unlocked, can it?
I tried the paid method and they said that they could not root the phone.
