Oneplus 8t cyberpunk - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

Hi,
I want to buy a cyberpunk edition and i want to know. If it is with hydrogen os or oxygen os ?
If i flash it on oxygen ose, did i loose the special theme and Addons ?
Thanks

OnePlus 8t cyberpunk help.
Hi guy, I'm in the same boat have the opportunity to buy a Cyberpunk edition but have not because I've been told hydrogen os is for China and not a lot can translate to English ? Is this true and I'd loose Google apps ... Editor Dan Lin's latest article says they can all be loaded on is this correct ?
I'm having trouble understanding having a awesome phone like this if you can't upgrade to oxygen os and loose all the cool themes and ui what would be the point ...
So I'd love some in depth clarification of what is going on with these 2 os.
Will you be able to load the cyberpunk ui later in a patch to oxygen os ? So many questions so many review and unboxing but know one is talking about the right topics

Wait for this guy to perfect the conversion

I just made sure to have my whole phone setup with gapps from the latest global updates. Then when i converted I was able to keep all Google apps. A format nukes them but with root and magisk gapps from flame gapps I was able to get gapps back

Yes, but this guy converted a oxygen os to hydrogen os cyberpunk.
Here WE don't want the same...we want a cyberpunk, put oxygen os on it and have all themes...

In the past, some people extract the oneplus 6t mc laren animations to put it in other 6t.
Perhaps it's possible ?
Or in h2s IS it possible to put gapps ? And other language ?

Where to read dan lin's article

Mine should arrive this week or next, so in the same boat. If English support is optimal and Google Apps can be flashed, I'd like to keep it as close to stock as possible. Has anyone else had experience with HydrogenOS on this phone?

I was that guy. I left xda right after that and only returned for 7t Resurrection Remix posts. This will be possible, but won't be done through a mod or it won't be 100%. Yes you can flash magisk gapps. Or with our mod you flash overtop oos and already have gapps. As you can see I'm running latest h2os with cyberpunk resources intact. Locked bootloader and no root. On a normal 8t Global. H2os is normal like oos, but tons of bloat. Once you get rid of it it's ok. But...I don't know about any article, but even with your cyberpunk 8t, it will run h2os and if you flash oos over it you will not keep cyberpunk resources and features.

@FullOfHell : ok so at this time, thé best solution if i buy a cyberpunk edition, IS to have H2Os, put thé gapps, IS this real ?

Yes it only comes with h2os, so if I were you and needed gapps flash these:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/fl....0-basic-arm64-20201108-ALPHA-12.zip/download
Or whatever is recent when you get yours. You install thru magisk. Microg is an option too

Ok thanks

Seems a bad choice from a sales point of view not to be able to run there new Os and keep the cyberpunk themes .. and with new more updated phone coming 2021 the cyberpunk phone will die as everyone will want the latest and greatest not outdated due to a theme. I have a oppo find X2 pro and was ready to swap for the cyberpunk but if you can't get gapps and keep the themes of the phone. Just disappointed.
Is putting the the gapps a simple process or long and tedious ?

The same as you would any other way with magisk. I don't have any modules or root or bootloader unlocked.

Hey guys,
So, I got an 8T Cyberpunk Edition two days ago. And I try to convert Hydrogen OS into Oxygen OS, I downloaded an europe Oxygen OS from here(I did not root the device or unlock bootloader, just download the zip file only), then I copied the zip file to root directory of the device and used "Local Update" to update the phone. After finished, I restarted the device. But I was stuck at booting screen, so I cleaned the "System setting/cache" or even "Format the device". I thought I will see the Oxygen logo after doing those steps, but it never happen. As a result, the Cyberpunk logo came up and still go into Hydrogen OS.
I tried like 5 times using "Local Update", not working at all. I was mad, and then I try to install Qualcomm USB driver(9008 driver?) and then follow the instruction here, and finally it became Oxygen OS, no more Cyberpunk loading screen. I was very happy and then try to apply the latest update from "System Update", it does show me there is a "11.0.4.5" version, so I downloaded it and installed and then restarted. Interesting thing happen again, I saw the Cyberpunk loading screen again. And I was stuck at the loading screen again. In order to pass the loading screen I have to clean "System setting/cache". Then I can access the device again and not seeing any Cyberpunk logo.
So, when I thought everything is finally working now, it wasn't. I went to the "System Update" again and try to see if there is any update, but I saw the same "11.0.4.5" version which I just updated. It seems the update is not working, so I went to "About phone" and confirmed that it was NOT updated. Again I tried several times, not working at all. It just like something under the hood keep resetting the device to the factory status.
Until anyone found a solution for this issue, I think I would have to keep using the version inside the unbrick tool I mentioned above. It will be great if OnePlus release an official Cyberpunk version of Oxygen OS later. Let's wait.

Or it's better to flash oxygen os, and wait for magisk theme installation ?

@GLOBAL is no problem to roo with magisk
Ok buckle up buckaroos. I think I got it. Magisk 20.0 does work. But not if you have old magisk stuff set up.
So steps:
1. install latest MIUI (eu) as you normally would.
2. Use magisk uninstaller. All your magisk files and configurations like audio stuff will be gone but hey, this is the way. I did this twice.
3. Boot into system. Make sure everything is good. If not. Repeat 1 and 2 again making sure to wipe cache and dalvik and optionally system before flashing stuff. Reboot to recovery and then into system.
4. Once you're sure that everything is working go back into recovery. Flash Magisk 20.0. I did not wipe anything at this point but you could try if you'd like.
5. Boot into system.
6. Set up all of your root apps again :'(
7. [Optional] upvote my comment if successful. I live off of spite and fake internet karma
(You can update magisk manager at this point but I would wait untill the next update before updating magisk manager itself)
I have spoken.
Magisk 20.4 canary works fine to
Can anyone tell if miui 11.0.4 have any option to change color settings like Live Display in LOS?
Should I be even bothered about this stable update 11.0.4 when I already have MIUI 11.0.5 (PEJMIXM) updated in October?

Working GSI ROMs on Mi Note 10 Lite / toco

As the title says, here's a list of some GSI's i have tested so far... but first for some story.
Bought the phone in summer, it's quite nice but has its own issues like no kernel source BUT since we can unlock the device and actually play around, oh boy it has been fun.
On the course of few hours and many downloads later I have a small list of GSI's that worked!
Every GSI I have mentioned REQUIRE device specific patch(es)!!!
For that you have to root.
----------------------WORKING GSI's-------------------------
BlissROM - It boots and functions quite fast
Cons: no included Gapps
Flashing any system editing patch results in "Phone is booting" homescreen.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/treblerom/files/BLESS/2020.09.21/
3.5 jack, VoLTE, Bluetooth, ComboFix patches are required, flash with Magisk manager
DO NOT USE FixLagSmooth
HavocOS 3.7 and 3.6 - Work and can be daily driven
3.6 requires FixLagSmooth patch
MUST root and apply all linked patches (don't use FixLagSmooth on 3.7, you can but no need)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...rom-how-to-install-android-10-gsi-mi-t4126223
AOSP Android 10 based - Also does work and requires patching
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...rom-how-to-install-android-10-gsi-mi-t4126223
HydrogenOS Android 10 - Works
Has few bugs
No Google services
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/gsi/HydrogenOS/
----------------------COMMUNITY REPORTED GSI's-------------------------
Android 11 GSI - Reported to be functional by HumptyPotato47, thanks mate!
No Gapps as of now NikGapps exist for Android 11, search XDA for it!
Requires more testing...
https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/releases/tag/v300.f
----------------------MAYBE WORKING GSI's-------------------------
OxygenOS 10 GSI - Seems to work.. sorta
First boot after exiting fastboot causes the phone to reboot
Second boot will loop
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/gsi/OxygenOS/
----------------------NON FUNCTIONAL GSI's-------------------------
You tell me
...I did find a very nice list of GSI ROMs to try out more, here's the link:
https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Generic-System-Image-(GSI)-list
----------------------FLASHING GSI-------------------------
If you test one then don't hesitate with replying which one, about the experience, bugs and how you installed it.
My method of installing was this:
1. Make sure to have the new adb commandline that supports fastbootd mode
2. Drop the GSI .img file in /adb directory for ease
3. Make sure you're running MIUI with unlocked bootloader and USB debugging enabled
3.5 MAKE SURE you get a GSI ROM with Gapps as existing TWRP isn't fully functional
4. GSI you should have must be AB partition!!!
Once all set then follow the next commands
>adb reboot bootloader
>fastboot -w
>fastboot reboot fastboot
>fastboot erase system
>fastboot flash system "GSI-ROM-name-without-quotes".img
>fastboot reboot bootloader
>fastboot reboot
----------------------SETTING UP GSI-------------------------
Once all that is complete it should boot, if not then that specific GSI does not work.
Also a thing worth mentioning! Whenever I boot this phone to fastbootd Windows keeps forgetting what driver it was which requires
few extra clicks in device manager to set it up for fastbootd use. Including an image with simple to follow instructions if you have the same issue.
>fastboot boot twrp.img
Once in TWRP you should be able to access internal storage with your computer, drag Magisk.zip over and flash. Don't forget to wipe cache!
If it boots normally then root was successful, now apply the linked patch and reboot once again. Since we are playing with GSI:
Head to Settings
Find Phh Treble Settings
Misc features
Check Disable audio effect. -- DISABLE IT AFTER PATCHING!!!
IMPORTANT!!! I only tested Havoc and Bliss for a long period, IF one of my mentioned GSI's or others require more patches then I have linked headphone jack and Bluetooth audio patches too.
Combo fix should do the trick thought so your mileage may vary.
----------------------HELP US-------------------------
IF you find more working GSI's then tell us and I will make sure to add them to the main post so it won't get clogged under other comments!

As only a day or two have passed I already encountered few issues.
> You cannot remove screenshot sounds, even when fully muted

> 99% of the customization options work perfectly
> Fast charging modes and such work perfectly
Neutral stuff...

Havoc OS and Bliss ROM are both quite stable, albeit with Bliss you don't get Gapps which is a huge bummer to most users.
Personally I just installed MicroG services and use Aurora store with anonymous "account".
When I tried to flash Gapps with TWRP I ended up soft bricking ROM so it was required to restore stock and try again. Of course there's no need if you can still use fastbootd.

Should i send this phone back to Amazon?
Seriously, last night i bought it, thinking about to install some custom rom, but if there are no developers caring of it, i might returb the phone to the seller...
IMO MIUI EU is better then GSI roms. Everything works. Got rid of most chinese crap. You can use Magisk.
Have nice features (MIUI in general). The only thing i dont like -mine turns on WIFI byitself dotn know how it happens... but it happens when i sleep. china collecting logs?

Literally the main reason I made this post is to help others who are interested to use GSI ROM's on their devices. I do agree that MIUI has some decent features and I did use Xiaomu.eu before but it was so buggy. In the end I love customizing the device however I like it so MIUI is just not for me. Either way I might try to negotiate with Amazon to get a refund as touch and Bluetooth problems still persist. Fun fact, on Bliss the edge detection is pretty good and not as aggressive or straight out bad.

Actually there are plenty of people ready to build ROMs for Toco (Mi Note 10 Lite) and Tucana (Mi Note 10) but there just isn't any kernel source available. Making things worse is the cancelled release of Toco in India and we know that they are one of the biggest Android ROM builders next to Russians. No one there is gonna import a device like this because better phones for money exist. If you don't like it then yeah I recommend returning otherwise give GSI a try for now and see what happens.
You won't lose warranty as there is no E-fuse like on Samsung phones so locking bootloader and flashing back to stock is enough.
Is anyone try oos gsi ?

The mentioned Mi Note 10 Lite for India was supposed to be called Mi 10i or something like that. It quickly disappeared and is not happening.
Of course I might be wrong by this date but looking for now there is no 10i, only speculation videos and threads.
Mi Note 10 Lite for India would've been code named "tocoin", same hardware and everything else so just a rebadge in old Xiaomi fashion...

New OnePlus 7Pro Owner Questions

I have purchased a OnePlus 7 Pro from a friend of mine. He has already changed it from the T-Mobile to the International version via MSM. The current build number is 9.5.3.GM21AA and model number GM1915. I have currently installed TWRP 3.3.1-0 and rooted with Magisk 20.4. As I am new to OnePlus, I am confused as to go about updating the stock firmware, if I will lose root, updating to a custom rom. I have done this with other phones, Nexus 6P, 5X, Pixel 1 and Essential PH-1, but this seems different as I have a build number that is not necessarily meant for the T-Mobile version of this phone. I have read multiple guides and instructions throughout this forum, but don't seem to find the answers for my specific phone. Any help and direction would be very helpful.
If the phone has been updated to the international version then that's a REALLY old version, the latest version for International (Global) is 10.3.5, have you checked for an update via the phone already?
Update settings are in Settings > System > System Updates
If you want to upgrade manually, you can do that via Settings > System > System Updates > (Top Right) > Local Upgrade (Make sure the zip is in the main storage folder though or it won't be listed)
However, If you want to upgrade and keep root then you need to upgrade TWRP first, the latest is 3.4.0-0 from here : https://twrp.me/oneplus/oneplus7pro.html
Flash that first.
I've uploaded both the most recent versions onto my Android File Host :
Oxygen OS - Android 10.3.5 - Global - OnePlus 7 Pro (GM21AA) : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=8889791610682950702
Oxygen OS - Android 10.0.8 - EU - OnePlus 7 Pro (GM21BA) : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=8889791610682950715
My Android 10 Folder : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=296897
So....
Grab the international version (which is the full rom)
Download the latest TWRP and Magisk
Reboot to TWRP (3.4.0-0)
Flash the full rom build (do not reboot yet)
Flash TWRP 3.4.0-0 (before rebooting) then reboot back into recovery
Flash latest Magisk then clear cache (not data)
Reboot
Check the Magisk version with the app : https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
I would suggest choosing the beta release in the app as Magisk 21.0 is available and works fine (see attached)
If it shows that the phone is not rooted then just reboot back into TWRP and flash Magisk again and reboot.
-----------------
If you're going to install a custom rom then ensure you read the first posts in the thread first as the dev will usually advise pre-requisites (i.e. A specific stock rom version to have installed first, a specific version of TWRP to use, etc)
(Also, try to use paragraphs, makes your post a lot more legible)
Thank you for the information, it is very helpful!!
I am currently on 9.3.5 which is how I got it from my friend. I was thankfully for it. I will review the files and upgrade when I get home from work and then look into crDroid 6.10. It has worked great on my PH-1.
In the event I need to reflash to stock, do I just Fastboot back?

No, if you change rom you should really clear data so make sure you do backups before moving from rom to rom. As long as you still have TWRP you should be able to move between them.

Thank you again for your help!! The more I've used the Oxygen OS, it seems to have everything the custom roms have that I might need.
I did get an update message on Oxygen Updater app to install 10.0.3, also an older version. Per what you wrote previously, I am going to bypass that to 10.3.5.

Check this thread first : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/how-to-convert-tmobile-op7-to-t3935947
Especially the part labelled *Future proofing Update*, the OPS file is part of the MSM fix.
You should really check in that thread first to confirm how to update properly. The process might be different since you're changing firmware.

Thank you. The phone has already been switched from T-Mobile to Global. I'm not sure if the OPS patcher was done yet. I will text my friend and ask him. I wonder if it is detrimental to do it again while I am still on 9.3.5?
UPDATE: My friend flashed the ops file with the MSM tool download
SUCCESS!! Thank you for all of your help!!

Question Anyone get OxygenOS 12.0.0 to install?

I downloaded it. Went to local upgrade, installed it.
Went to Magisk and did install to inactive slot like normal. And it reboots. Then a small bootloop for a second. Then goes straight back to normal. Like I never installed anything.
Any thoughts?
I tried to root by patching new boot.img but get bootloop which not fixed except after msmdownload tool
All data wiped
Root OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, 9R Android 12 ColorOS 12 via Magisk
Thi guide will show you how to root the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and OnePlus 9R running ColorOS 12 Android 12 via Magisk Patched Boot.img

Same here. If you dont install magisk to the inactive slot it will go through and you will be in oos12. Problem with mine, it wont read my flaking sim card. Tried it 5x all same problem. Also, every reboot, your dpi goes back to 360 lmao.
I patched boot.img by canary magisk and it is working good, but no option for safetynet passing

I used this guide but patched with magisk 23.0. still have all my modules and passing safety net. Using latest stable magisk 23.0 righteous. Thank you for this. I tried for 3 days killing my device flashing boot img. At least I know my downloaded msm tool works. On latest A12 build out for the global op9
I wouldnt recommend it tbh if its your only phone. Its buggy AH.

Would you or anyone else mind sharing the boot img for the OnePlus 9: OOS/Android 12 ?
I have the Global / NA version.
It would be greatly appreciated!

I have on my PC I will upload soon. Away from it currently. You really need 3 partitions to make work. Boot,vendor_boot,vbmeta
Geesh the battery is so much better on A12 after debloating how I see fit. Passing safety net, all banking apps working and still using old modules !! Score

0p9 partitions..A 12 - Google Drive

All three are in here. Make sure to use magisk 23.0 to patch boot and vendor boot so you don't loose modules and magisk hide. Then you disable verity before boot with vb_meta img. You have to do from sdk platform tools folder though. Will not work just putting in a folder on desktop and pulling cmd window from there. Enjoy , follow the above guide to a T

Thanks a lot for the files Mattie.
My experience with OOS 12 so far has been a nightmare, and I'm not even rooted.
For the record:
I was coming from OOS 11 not the latest version previous to OOS 12, rooted, pretty much stable but I felt the phone pretty slow in comparison to other (Long story short, I got a brand new OnePlus 8 I bought almost a year ago but couldn't get my hands on it, so after getting tired of waiting for it, bought the OP9).
My OP8 is not rooted, doesn't have the bootloader unlocked, and it's miles faster than my OP9 with about the same apps installed with the exception of the apps that require root.
So, since my OP9 was feeling slow in comparison, I decided to go at OOS 12 to see how it went. First experience was bad, the phone kept hanging, didn't read the SIM correctly at first, so I read someone that was suggesting to do a factory reset to fix some issues.
I did a factory reset, deleted everything on the phone to start OOS 12 from zero, and the phone keeps hanging, specially when I get phone calls via Whatsapp or other apps, and less but still some problems with "answering incoming phone calls".
At this point I rather try to downgrade to OOS 11 and sit this one out for a long while.
I thought about rooting OOS 12, but being honest, having root is not going to make the phone more stable or anything. I guess I'll do give it a try at OOS 12 in 3-6months after a couple of updates, maybe other versions are better.

I have the correct msm tool for device. This is the forward route for you. Takes you to 11.4. Stock A11
Does anyone else have the issue of their touchscreen not functioning when they install the A12 update? Ive tried installing twice and both times my screen would not register any touches only the volume and power buttons functioned?
EDIT: NVM I MSM'd back to stock and upgraded to OOS 12 before unlocking the bootloader.

if you are looking for performance, look into kernels and/or just use a kernel manager.
out of all the Roms I've tried (all but the latest havok release) crDroid is the best performance option I get from a ROM on O09. that piared with optional GApps and frequent OTA updates, its the best thing out so far. the OTA even works perfectly at retaining root without any user input. (but do a backup before reboot, its still technically a dirty flash so play safe)

I don't want to get too off-topic, but figured I'd save a MSM wipe to some people, I can confirm this works, but only using the latest version of Magisk (v24), temporary boot will not work with v23 (the last one with MagiskHide), it caused Qualcomm crashdump and no recovery or fastbootd.
If anyone looks into other root spoofing solutions with the newer version v24, from Magisk settings use Zygisk, select apps using Enforced Denylist, and Universal SafetyNet Fix, there is also Shamiko, which I haven't tested personally.
From my own experience, DenyList+Universal SafetyNet fix+Selinux Switch if you need to switch between permissive and enforced Selinux are enough. Apps won't get to know there is root, safetynet is passed, and selinux checks are passed (that one took me a long while to figure out)

Question Any Tmo 2117 users try or use Lineage?

The 2117 model is not mentioned in official compatibility, but all the others are. Any Tmobile users running Lineage or know if it works?
I used it for a bit. Works good as any other device IMO.
Follow This guide on the official page.
Im just iffy on the whole thing- Still on A11 OOS11 and Im hearing Ill possibly need A12 firmware as a base before install? I cant just use TWRP and flash? Its been ages since I went custom (HTC One Cyanogen with CWM, I believe we were able to use TWRP as well back then) and it sounds like you need Lineage Recovery?
Can I follow that guide straight from rooted *BL unlocked A11 OOS11? No updates have been applied to my phone afaik. Disabled right away.

Lineage updates the firmware as part of the install.
Ah thank you! Ill prolly do it after some time. I'm completely happy on 11 for now. Have it debloated and set up with xposed modules and everything.
I've used lineage before on the le2117 but decided to switch to evolution x since it's packed with features
What the battery life like between the two? I dont necessarily need features since I add everything I need with magisk\lsposed. This stock rooted rom Im on now is getting great battery life.
On both installation pages for this and EvoX, it says you need to be on A13 firmware. Is this a hard requirement? Or can I truly just flash my phone as it is currently? Stock root, A11, OOS11?
I cant do OTA updates, nor can I install downloaded updates (via the settings app) either because I converted, or its Magisk or something...
How did you get you Tmos to 13? Were you already updated before rooting? Did the OTA work after root for you? I just get install failed immediately with the downloaded package.
Any input would be appreciated Im in no rush, and I already have a backup setup for after conversion (assuming Migrate works on this phone, seems to so far).
