About using no Super VOOC chargers / cables ? - OPPO Find X2 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello everyone, I just purchased a Oppo Find X2 Pro, and Im really happy so far with the phone (just 2 weeks using it). I went through most of the posts in this forum before posting and I decided to register and discuss about a few things.
This post comes from my idea of trying to find compatible chargers and cars so I can have other options besides the one that comes with the phone
I read here several posts from people recommending NOT to use in a daily basis the official Super Vooc charger that comes with the phone, and that surprises me.
I had been talking with OPPO Uk support in the last days, asking them if this would damage the battery, and they always end up telling me the same sentence:
Use OPPO original charging cable and USB adapter. Third-party accessories might not be compatible with OPPO smartphone and cause problems.

I feel like this may be just so you buy their accesories.
For example, I wanted to get a Super Vooc 2.0 charger but since its out of stock in the UK, I asked if then I couldnt charge at all my Find X2 Pro in my car, which was annoying, and I could temporarily use a regular car charger, so then they said:
As long as the cable is compatible with your Find X2 Pro model, you shoud be able to as the adaptor in question is just the adaptor and not the cable that goes into the phone's charging port.

So I was looking for some experts opinion on charging the Find X2 Pro, since in the OPPO suport pages theres no info at all, which is annoying since its a new technology and they should explain the options we have to charge it.
For example, can I charge it using something like a usb socket from a Xiaomi Power Strip (which I have)?:

And if I can, do I have to user the official super vooc cable or just a regular usb-c usb-a cable?
Also, can I use one of my samsung usb chargers but using the usb-c cable?
Several questions like these ones I asked to OPPO support just to have the same reply of ussing the official to avoid problems. I asked besides charging slower would it cause any damage? and they wont reply directly but just say that its possible that damage could be done...

Charging through USB port uses standardized process. A phone must charge with any 5V USB power source and cable.
The charging speed may differ depending on charger and cable capabilities. You should just avoid low cost / poor quality chargers and cables as sometimes they doesn't fulfill the requirements (max voltage, current control, ...).
I'm charging my phone overnight using an old Sony 800mA charger with a OnePlus Dash charge cable, so it charges slowly and the phone remains cold.
At home on my desk I use a Legrand power strip with integrated 2A USB ports when I don't need fast charging, and it works fine.
At work I'm using a OnePlus Dash charger from my old 3T and its cable, and it's recognized by the phone as a VOOC charger ... Who said sister companies ?

Thanks for your reply. I imagined that in all of those cases the phone would charge, yes of course it works any charger and cable just changing the speed. The question for me is, could it be somewhat harmful to the battery in the long term. After the phone is expecting a super vooc cable and super vooc charger on the other side. Maybe this is stupid, I dont know much about electricity/batteries/etc...

Bro,i have also bad experience with their poor help. Hundreds mails zero help. Here is where I purchased my charger.

It's on the way. Next is carbon genuine case. I like phone, this is my 3th Oppo Find X2 pro. I don't like imperfections on the display but what can i do

You can use magnetic cables as well. A friend uses these vooc magnetic cables to charge his one plus device. He has two devices the 5t and 7 it both warp charges and dash charges.

Fast Charging "Homemade". What are the risks?

I lost my original Fast Charger in my school and now I'm without one. The problem is, that sometimes I need that great feature.
My question is, can I disassembly a random 9V charger and "adapt" a Micro-USB cable to it? Since the GS6 supports 9V I don't see a problem there. Or must I short some data pins in order to enable fast charging to not fry the device?
Why don't you just buy a new one?
I definitely think that's not a good idea. Buy a new one. If you are worried about Samsung charger price you can buy a cheaper charger that support Qualcomm 2.0 quickcharge, it's compatible.
I thought the whole thing was dynamic, that at lower battery levels it charges at different amperage than higher levels, and at a certain point it kicks over to 5V. It doesn't charge at 9V the whole time.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using XDA Free mobile app
@quarlow is right, it's dynamic.
You should buy a new one, much more safe.
If I plug a normal 'old' 600mA 5V charger to it, it says that it will charge in 6 HOURS! I can't wait for that.
I have disassembled the charger, unsolded the Female USB plug and solded it to an 9V charger from an TP-Link Switch.
I plugged it in and the phone started charging. It says "Cable charging" instead of "Fast charging" and it stated 6 hours too. After that, I shorted the data pins and then the time reduced to 2 hours...
I also tried a 12V charger (1.5A), but it don't charged, nor maked any charging sound.
Now I concluded two things:
1. Samsung S6 phones are very robust with charger voltages :silly:
2. It isn't that easy to make a fast charger.
I hope I have saved some questions now

Thanks for all the replies, but now I haven't money to buy one. Where I live, they are really expensive!
Oh, aaand, I don't know if it's a good idea to charge at 9V the whole time, because when it reaches 100%, I hear constantly the charging sound.

Thanks, I will search for an 9V charger that has this amperage.
Btw, some chargers have adaptive 12V output.... Is that QuickCharge 3.0?
A normal Samsung or LG charger of 1.8A/2A output still charge my S6 in about 1.5 hours. Get one from a relative or friend or buy one if the S6 charger is too costly

You gotta be kidding. Spend $10 and get a QuickCharge 2.0 adapter.
Don't risk it. Samsung Fast Charge is the same thing as Qualcomm Quick Charge. It's Qualcomm's technology, licensed with no loyalty fee.
QuickCharge 2.0 uses the data pins to negotiate the charge voltage with your power adapter. Otherwise it just uses 5V.
I see on my S6 it stays at 9V all the time. The phone pulls the current it needs, so you don't have to try to match that current on the power adapter side. Just make sure it's at least 1.6A, preferably 2A. I never saw my S6 pulling 2A at 5V or 9V.
I'd imagen as this a form for devs . And this guy is trying to create somthing . The devs would be a bit more yaknow . Creative. First off
The guy is trying to make the adaptive charger .give him a bit of credit . I'm currently making a portable charger and I want it to use samsung fast charge
I'm using 18650 battery's 4.2 volts fully charged 3.7 volts give or take when they sag.
So if there is anyone with half a brain out there. How do you get the 9v (8.4) amp to make it a fast charger ( under one and a half hours. ) I'll worry about building the switch to the 5 volts after ( 4.2)
Is it loop the pins . Pin to earth pin to positive loop pins to negative ) the information isn't out there so surely some one has the information. ( just FYI the sgs6 is perfectly capable of being charged at 9 volts. The battery is a nine volt according to the build information explains why charging with any other charger takes 6 hours. .
Also to the op if you did indeed have a similar idea to me just tell erm straight I wanna mess about with low current and voltage dc haha. ( also I tried 18 volts samsung phones do no alow the charge over 9volts so it cannot hurt you're phone

Fast charging not working (not cable or charger)

My gf's S6 doesn't fast charge anymore. I have a S6 too and tried cables, chargers and different outlets so for sure that's not the problem. I've made sure the plug is all the way in so it's not that. I'm going to contact Samsung because we're still under the year mark but there is a small possibility some water may have gotten in the charging port. With 3 kids it's tough keeping your toys away from them all the time. Anyone hear of any issues with the fast charge not working? Most of the threads I could find about this issue is resolved with a new charger or just plugging it all the way.

Good evening everybody,
Appologies for attaching to this post but my question is about fast charging in G920F I own, too. When I use stock AC quick charger and stock Samsung cable, my phone charges quickly (not a surprise). But when I use stock quick charger and other microUSB cable (e.g. the one I got with the Chromecast 2), S6 charges in normal "slow" mode. Does this functionality depend on the cable?
Thanks in advance for a reply & best regards.

It depends on 3 things. The phone, the charger and the connection (th e cable). So yes, the cable is a crucial factor in utilising Fast Charge
Think of it as having a fast car, a driver comfortable with pushing the car to the limits, and the road being the cable. If the road isn't build for the speed (let's liken it to a country ally/road) you can't safely drive at top speed. So you drive at the safest speed you can with the road you have. That's what the phone and charger do. Rather than blowing the cable (which could happen), it just draws a smaller amount of power to keep everything safe.
Sorry for the big reply. I like to be as informative as possible in one go
Well I tried Samsung wireless quick charger and still no luck. Guess I'll have to send it to Samsung.

I had the same thing happened to my S6 two weeks ago. It charged only slow way, even with a fast charger, and i tried few cables and solutions. At the end i took it to warranty and they replaced that whole board with USB port. It was done in 24 hours and now it works like new. They even gave me brand new Fast charger and cable for free. When the battery is low, it will turbo charge VERY fast.
When the battery is near full, the charger will charge at a more normal speed.
However, no matter the speed my phone ALWAYS detects the "turbo charger", as I'm running RR 6.0.1. It always says "turbo charger connected" when I plug in with a fast charger. I just plugged in with 95% full battery: "Turbo charger connected"! Of course, at almost full battery capacity it will not charge super fast -- even with the Turbo charger.

If I charge with a "regular" charger, like my Qi wireless charger, it will not give that notification.
Your observation of 70% (normal charging) and 30% (fast charging) seem reversed, unless you are plugging in a lot with the battery at 80% full? But even then, your phone should detect the fast charger and give you an on-screen notification -- even if it doesn't charge as fast as when the battery is very low.
Are you not seeing the on-screen notification (toast) when you plug in?
Yes i see notification 30% but not everytime.so i open turbo toast app and verify if it is turbo charger detected or not

So, when you plug in your fast charger (turbo charger) you do not see the on-screen notification (toast) every time?
Since your are using RR 6.0.1 which has @bhb27 Turbo Toast app, do you have all these boxes checked on Turbo Toast?
Yes these r all checked

A bad or low quality cable can cause this to happen. I had a bad cable in my car which caused my phone to charge slowly... I replaced it with another one and everything is fine again.

Buy one that comes from a major phone manufacturer, one that's branded Motorola or Samsung or LG or HTC. Not simply a cable that's "compatible with..." or "for..." a major brand, but one that's sold by them, packaged with their logo and has that logo molded into the cable end.
In addition to the other recommendations, Monoprice.com makes very good cables, in general, too. For this test, I'd suggest just getting/borrowing a cable from someone else and seeing if that fixes it.

It sounds like you're **assuming** because it failed, it must not be original?
I'm not so sure that's a safe assumption. Nonetheless, I'd avoid the oem charger (I have multiple of them) as they get pretty warm, as does the phone, when charging.
Go with something that is highly rated and certified for Quick Charge 3. The Anker I bought charges faster and stays cooler than oem chargers do. There are various QC3 mfg to choose from, get one with high ratings and u should be all set.
This is the one I got, it works fine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077HFFLMS/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

Right. You don't need "LG" charger, you need good QuickCharge 3.0 charger. There are many available, but Anker is trusted name brand.

FYI, the V30 is also USB PD compatible. It will quick charge with type C laptop chargers as well as Pixel and Essential phone chargers.
Edit- Nekteck brand makes IF certified chargers, it is available from Amazon and I have a car and wall charger that have both served me well.
Agreed, Anker is a great brand. Aukey is another good one - their cables are terrible (at least for USB micro, in my experience). Still, these are two great ways to go without wasting money on the LG (or any other brand's) rebadging.
I always use Blitzwolf. They have some great chargers / cables.
I also bought an Aukey one and it seems solid.
Just to put in my opinion, I like Blackweb products.

Charging Cable alternative

Hello everyone,
The included data/charging cables with my poco f2 pro just failed after 3 weeks of use and I tried different cables I found in the house and non of them supports fast charging,
do you know where can I find a replacement cable that support mi turbo charge?
I currently occupy one of the Baseus brand and another of Ugreen, both bought on Aliexpress and they work without problems.
I noticed that when I use either of my other 2 cables the phone doesn't charge nearly as fast. I would suggest to spec the cable to ensure you still get that glorious fast charging ability

I saw another post that suggests there is an extra pin in the charger cable that came with the phone that enables the fastest charging. Using other cables made for fast charging seem to lack this pin so they are limited to normal fast charge modes which while still fast is not as fast as the turbo charge with this phone. On Aliexpress I found a cable from xiaomi that may work, search for 'xiaomi Redmi note 9 pro cable 5A Turbo fast charge' but I cant seen inside the usb connector well enough to tell if the extra pin is there.

Probably both if the cable isn't the one that came with the phone. As I mentioned in my last post their is an extra pin in the usb cable and also in the charger that probably enables turbo charge. I did find a xioami 33 watt charger and cable on Aliexpress that may work correctly.

It has to be a USB C cable with at least 30 Watts PowerDelivery (PD) enabled. Your charger also needs to have at least 30watts output.

When it comes to usb cables ( and chargers for that ) there is only one name for me ; anker.
They are not the cheapest but it's clear why you pay that price ; quality.
I got 2 of their braided cables ( one for at home and one for the car ) and after years of dailly use they are still flawless.
Their warranty is solid too, even if something goes wrong they will make it right.
Get them on amazon to be sure you get original.
