FRP Custom Bimnary Blocked On SM-G930F (Samsung Galaxy S7) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I've had my phone rooted with Magisk for months. In these months I've tried many Custom ROMs and have tripped the Knox counter. Yesterday, I stupidly turned off developer options as an app I was downloading said it wouldn't run with them on. Later on, I rebooted my phone, only to get FRP locked due to (I assume) previous Custom ROM flashing.
I tried for about 9 or so hours to sort it out myself with Odin and various guides saying I could flash ADB onto the phone and enable Developer Options from there. I have no idea how to fix it anymore and was wondering if anyone could help. I saw a thread somewhere that solved the issue, however, I can no longer find the thread.
As far as I know, all I can do is go into Download Mode to use Odin. Is it possible to fix my phone or is it completely bricked?

I'll give you one american dollar or 1 billionth of a bitcoin!
Sorry bro! I've always found persistence works best! So don't give it up.

You can fix it, you just need to flash a stock ROM that is either the same as the last stock ROM that was installed on it, or newer/has the same or newer bootloader.
If you try to flash an older one, you'll get an error in odin, because you're trying to downgrade the bootloader.

I just flashed a Stock ROM and it worked! When I'd done it previously, I'd been flashing the wrong ROM so nothing happened
Thanks for the help!

No worries
remember to enable OEM unlock in developer settings before flashing another custom ROM.

[Q] Returning to stock [i9020a]

I just wanted to make sure that I understood the process of returning my phone to stock before I make a mistake.
All I've done since I purchased the phone was root it and unlock the bootloader. I have not loaded any custom roms.
So If I understand this correctly I need to:
1) Flash the Stock Image (which should include the stock recovery?)
2) Use fastboot to lock the bootloader
The reason I'm wanting to return the phone to stock is to receive OTA updates. I never use any apps requiring root, and don't plan on loading any custom roms.
I never did find a 2.3.4 stock image for the I9020A..
you should actually be able to get ota updates no problem. it'll just remove root every time you update.
it's probably not a good idea to lock the bootloader though cause if you ever want to unlock it again in the future you'll have to wipe everything from your phone. your best bet is to just flash stock recovery so you can install the update
i'm pretty sure that works, but hopefully someone else can verify just so you don't get some bad information lol
I heard the same thing about OTA updates. If you're phone is rooted and you're using the original rom, you'll get the update but you'll have to root your phone once again.
I haven't tried this myself so I cannot verify it.
It's just the word on the street, you know!

you need stock everything, so stock kernel, rom, radio, etc... the op should be fine to update if they flash stock recovery though. rooting is simple from there

Thanks kibmcz ! I'm a n00b when it comes to this but when you say flash via ClockworkMod you mean get into clockwork recovery mount the usb, transfer the zip onto the SD card and then <<Install from zip>> ?
Is that the method?

Thanks again kibmcz, so I just completed the flash, then did a fastbook oem lock.
Seems to be working fine except for one thing...
When I go into settings and hit Sound I get a Force close when I try and select a new ringtone...
Should I try reflashing again?

Using my zip yes... it flashes Bootloader, Radio, Boot, System and on first boot (and any other time recovery changes) Recovery is flashed. All you got to to is lock the bootloader and that wipes user data and usb storage.
hey man i appreciate you coming forward with a solution, ive yet to recieve the phone but wanted to prepare.
my goal is to flash everything back to stock and start completly over whereas i have no clue what method was originally used to root and unlock the bootloader.
when the time comes hope you dont mind a PM if i have any extra questions.

Just did the method using the stock ROM provided by kibmcz "thanks BTW!"
Phone is back to stock, working like it did when I first bought it. Had a little trouble with some Force Close issues but did a factory reset/data clear of the cache and all that before re-flashing, and it seems to be working Vanilla!

Galaxy S 4 - Random reboots after many ROM flashings

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie here, but I've read the guidelines, don't hate
I got an international version SGS4 (i9505) and it got instantly rooted the day I purchased it.
The first rom I flashed was a i9505 Google Edition Rom... Everything worked fine but I didn't like it so much.
So I cleaned everything and I installed Foxhound (2.0)... and the problems started: maybe it's just because the two ROMs use different kernels, but my device started reboot randomly!
So I flashed a kernel cleaner (the Kernel Cleaning_Script by jivy26), I cleaned the cache and all the data... Then I installed the latest stable version of CyanogenMod (with Android 4.2.2)
Nothing.
My SGS4 continously reboots and sometimes it's difficult to restart it. I'm so sad, I just bought this phone and it works so bad.
Maybe I should install a Stock Rom and unroot my device?
Any advices/cleaning methods to stop these random crashes?
Please respond
Dem
I would flash full stock via odin and use it for few days.

Try a factory wipe first, if the reboots keep happening, I would do a fresh, clean flash of the stock tar. What I usually do is I format data through TWRP, it will say I lost root and if I want to retain it, I answer no. I reboot into download mode and flash stock tar through Odin. Then I root with CF-Auto-Root, and finally flash a custom recovery.

Thank you so much... then I decided to install an Official test leaked firmware 4.3 (I9505XXUEMJ3) via Odin.
Everything works fine, but (although the system's more responsive and stable) I had another random reboot God why?
Maybe it's just a problem with kernel... I installed 3-4 Roms, and maybe my phone is not clean... but I flashed via Odin, I erased everything (cache, format/data/factory). It's so strange...
I feel like I have to throw away my phone... please help!
EDIT: my phone crashed and it is bootlooping now.
My phone is now officially bricked. After I flashed the latest official Samsung Rom my phone started bootlooping and crashing at the Samsung logo. The only thing I can do now is to use the recovery, but even if I format/data factory nothing changed.
Any possible solutions?
My patience is collapsing with this phone T_T
So let me get this straight...you had an instability issue (reboots) and after all the help from the guys here suggesting to flash a stable stock rom, you decided to go ahead and flash a leaked firmware?
Find the latest OFFICIAL STOCK 4.2.2 rom and try again. Don't even root, just check with a stable rom so you can see if your issue is hardware related.
Try downloading and flashing one of the sammobile firmwares.

Why on earth are trying something you don't know about. If you don't follow the guides here on xda it will not work. You have to install custom Recovery's in order to clean and erase your whole phone. If you don't it will keep on DIRTY FLASHING and acting up or rebooting or what ever. Stock recovery is basically useless for what Your trying to do.
Edit: the link you posted is the way you should have done it in the first place

I must admit I failed so bad :\ Should I re-root to install a custom recovery? And then? How do I clean my phone? T_T I had a custom recovery, but I just format all datas/factory and cache. Is there anything else I can do with a custom recovery (considering that I don't have backups on my phone).

Which stock 4.2.2 rom did you try?
When you installed 4.3 stock rom, you probably also installed the new knox bootloader, so in order to go back to 4.2.2 you must install a stock rom like XXUDMH8 or XXUDMI1 that have the new bootloader.
Download one of them from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9505&pcode=0
and then follow the instruction from this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477

Thank you so much I'm here to learn. So:
1) I should install a stock rom (such as XXUDMH8 or XXUDMI1) with the new bootloader
2) Then I should root using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2413014
3) Then I should install a custom recovery and... ?
Tell me if the steps are correct or I'm failing again lol
EDIT: I realized that I installed XXUDMH8! So it's ok, it have the new bootloader. What can I do now? :/ (I did everything in the thread you linked, I got android 4.2.2. stock - XXUDMH8... but I don't know how to continue to stop the crashes)
Yeah that's basically it. After you have custom Recovery installed do a complete wipe of everything twice just to make sure. Then go ahead and install stock with Odin and your random boots should be gone.

Keep in mind that with so many flashes, if you already have the new bootloader, you may have triggered the Knox efuse and voided your warranty.
You can check that in download mode, if knox warranty is 0x0 you are fine. If it is 0x1 you have triggered it.
You can look for more info in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447832
If knox warranty is 0x0 DONT ROOT YET...READ FIRST. There are ways to root without voiding your warranty.

How to root without voiding the phone warranty?
Try to install with this kernel "GT-I9505_AdamKernel.V1.6.KnoxFree2.CWM". You may search it in this xda forum.
Hopefully this will helping you.

Newest bootloader & modem

I want to flash the latest bootloader and modem to my G920F. For example, I have now COI9, can i flash another modem than with the designation COI9? I someone could, please link to the latest version, thank you!
You dont need to do it... Always stick with the modem and bootloader same as the system... Mixmatching those files can couse battery drain ( radio interference , deep sleep problems ) ... For the time ive used the s6 COI9 was the best modem i ever tested.. So stay with OI9

Why can't you get into recovery? If you can get your phone into download mode, then you can use Odin to install TWRP which will give you access to recovery. You said you had the S6 right, not Edge? You can get TWRP for that version here https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys6.html and then install it with Odin. After that, boot into recovery, and then plug your phone into a computer and transfer your ROM onto the phone and install it. If you aren't able to get that part of it done, then the stock firmware for your S6 may be available for download from https://www.sammobile.com/ and those can be flashed using Odin. If one of those doesn't work, try a different one until you find one that works. Good luck; don't lose hope. I have found my S6 Edge resilient and hard to permanently brick.

If one of those doesn't work, try a different one until you find one that works. Good luck; don't lose hope. I have found my S6 Edge resilient and hard to permanently brick.

Ow believe me I have tried this. I tried stock recovery, twrp (different versions), cf root so ik hoped it would flash CWM, different stock roms... Nothing wakes up this phone.
I'm going to try some stuff now. I'll keep you posted!

I've been there with my S6 Edge...only a week ago while I was installing LineageOS. I was feeling pretty hopeless for awhile but installing a custom ROM got my phone to the point where it was usable again. I'm still burning through firmware variations from sammobile in search of a better modem but at least I got it working again. Odin is your friend.

How did you flash that rom when you couldn't get in recovery?

I thought I was done for last week when I flashed a package from Sammobile that my phone didn't like and it resulted in Error message from Odin. After that, download mode showed up as wrecked and said to use Smartswitch to enter emergency recovery mode. I tried a few versions of Smartswitch but they all kept saying my device was unsupported. I went to sleep feeling pretty lousy.
The next day I started fresh and had a few more packages from Sammobile to try. Even with the message about "emergency recovery mode", I was able to install a new Sammobile package using Odin. That replaced modem, system, bootloader, everything the phone needed. Except the phone was stuck in a bootloop and kept restarting every time it go to the "installing android" part of the boot process. At that point I shut the phone down and installed the latest TWRP recovery, booted into recovery, and transferred my ROMs + GApps onto it and then installed them following the ROM's installation instructions. It was pretty hairy for awhile but my persistence paid off and now it works again. Hopefully you get yours working.
What do you mean "nothing wakes up this phone" does it hang at a particular part?

I don't think you can. You need to install TWRP recovery in download mode before you can flash ROMs. Is that what you're having problems with?

Thanks for sticking up with me. We'll, the phone only boots in download mode. I flashed literally everything... From custom recoveries to stock roms, also had the smarts witch notification but smarts switch nor Kies doesn't fix the problem. I tried flashing recoveries, different versions, nothing. What I mean with waking up the phone... Well even after a successful Odin stock firmware flash, the phone doesn't boot by itself. Tried with the auto reboot ticked off but... Yeah... The phone only boots in download mode. But in download mode I see that it says CUSTOM BINARY,.... so... It flashes but... It's not booting. Not even getting a starting up screen that freezes... Nothing...all black... Only download mode. I just now tried converting a custom Rom zip to a tar file... Flashed it... Failed... Blablabla... This s6 is giving me a hard time! now, it' s a phone from a college that actually threw the phone in the garbage... But I retrieved it and I wanted to fix this s6. It's a good phone... It goes in download mode so.... That thought keeps me hopeful!
Again thanks for the support...

okay so, tried a couple more firmwares...they all pass in odin but not booting my phone. also not in recovery. tried flashing twrp and stuff but can't get it to boot! It doesn't hang on a screen. it just doesn't boot. only on download mode I get it to boot. Could this be a hardware problem?? I think not because it boots in download mode. Maybe try to flash bootloaders? Are there other recoveries? CWM, Philz touch?

Phone boots but recovery mode does not work (after flashing TWRP)

Hi all, using S7 SM-G930F. Just got it yesterday and first thing I wanted to do was flash TWRP so I could put the new Pixel OS onto it.
Used ODIN, got the pass message as usual... phone rebooted automatically into stock OS. I turned it off and tried booting into recovery mode but it gets stuck at the splash screen. Nothing happens, not even stock recovery. I re-flashed TWRP without auto-reboot option this time but the same thing happens.
So essentially I have a phone that works but no recovery mode at all I can't find anyone else with this same problem, please help. I can't get any further without it. Ideally I want to avoid flashing the entire stock image. Thanks
OEM unlocked?
ODIN 3.12.3 or later used?

Yes I did set OEM unlocked.
Ahhh, I am using ODIN 3.10.6!! Thanks, let me try 3.12 and get back to you if there's a problem. Thank you very much.

I'm afraid it hasn't worked. Exactly the same thing, just stuck on splash screen until I reboot into OS.
Double checked, OEM Unlock is definitely enabled.
Id flash stock again to fix recovery, then try TWRP with ODIN 3.12.3

Do you mean flash the entire stock firmware or just stock recovery? I'm attempting to extract stock recovery from firmware now... but if I have to flash the whole firmware then I guess I have to.
Just flash full stock, you won't lose anything unless you flash CSC which resets the phone after the flash
But you do know you have to wipe your phone to get TWRP installed correctly right?

Nope. I didn't know. No guide I used ever states that anywhere (I'm a CWM person also, first time using TWRP).
Sounds strange to me.. How do you root your phone using TWRP then if you have to wipe it first?
Can I even use CWM for S7? Didn't think so as there are no guides for it.
Not worried about losing anything as only got the phone yesterday but really worried about the stock firmware flash not working the same way TWRP doesn't, that's why I wanted to avoid it if possible, I'll give it a go. Thanks

You don't have to use TWRP to root, if you're not bothered about having custom recovery you can just flash CF-Auto Root using ODIN, that will root without the need for TWRP
Reason you have to wipe with TWRP is because of encryption the phone is using - reading the TWRP thread would be a good plan before blindly flashing stuff
Don't worry about flashing stock, I have the same G930F, flashed stock a couple times using ODIN, no issues

I followed http://galaxys7root.com/galaxy-s7-s7-edge-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s7-s7-edge/3/
They never mentioned anything.
I just flashed stock firmware and now I can't do anything, no recovery, no download, no OS. Bootloop no matter what...

This is what I used...
Kept trying and eventually got back into download mode (it was really hard)...
I am still lost on what to do now though.

Follow XDA guides, not random sites
OK, considering the phone is pretty much empty and new, just flash all 4 ROM parts with ODIN
AP, BL, CP and CSC, factory reset the phone and start again from scratch
This time read the TWRP thread, or the CF Auto root thread here on XDA before doing anything at all

Thanks! Boots now. Shame I only really found this place's guides after the one I used failed, starting again now
Did you unlock your bootloader? That is way flashing twrp works but would not boot twrp
I know the problem. Make sure "reboot automatically" is DISABLED in Odin when flashing TWRP. If you do not it will fail. I know from experience. Im assuming you already know to habe OEM unlocked etc etc
Sent from my SM-G930L using XDA-Developers mobile app

10$ for anyone who helps my phone to turn on

Hi. I have an Indian variant Motorola turbo. I am on a custom ROM(forgot the name acually) and thougt everything was working till my phone rebooted suddenly and went into recovery mode. Since then I have been trying to resurrect the phone but failing. Could someone here can help me to resurrect my phone back? I would reward you for your help..
Note : Tried all possible ways to get my phone back but its staying only in bootloader No matter what i do.
Update August 2020 : While taking out my things, I found my moto maxx, and after looking at it i wanted to give a try once again. If someone can help in bringing my mobile back to life. Attacing the images of the logs on the screen. Only bootloader is seen always. Please help me. I can pay more to someone who could help me.
was this on a fresh install? was this working for like a week or longer and then **** the bed? is it charged fully? can you reinstall the ROM fresh and have it boot? might have to brush up on mfastboot commands and getting access to push files to the memory so you can flash the ROM again.......
Did you somehow get your bootloader from unlocked state to relocked?

Ok tell me a few things,
1) were you on the latest firmware while unlocking bootloader?i.e, were you on the latest update of Android 6.0 while unlocking bootloader?
2) Have you tried flashing the stock rom ? While flashing stock rom you must edit the update script and remove the line which flashes the partition.
3) Was the custom rom working fine? Or did the issue start as soon as you flashed the ROM?
4)Can you go to recovery? If no what is happening when you try to go to recovery?
