I have an older TV without an HDMI port. Is there a way to stream video from my phone to the TV?
I believe this should do the trick:

And then you need MHL adapter for the phone:

EDIT:
Now that I think of it Iam not sure how well thats going to play out. Its very likely that the resolution the phone puts out is too high and the image will be strecthed out of the screen.
hi everybody, I don't know if here's the right place for this request or not, after I saw a function generator over stereo app, I wanted to request an app to connect the phone to the tv like old nokia N95 and some more phones over RCA protocol, I know almost all devices today support HDMI, but some old TVs don't support it and some new ROMs have issues with it, so is it possible softwarely?
thanks a lot.
First to say, this is a bit long, but explains exactly what is my problem and what am I doing, I really need help, please. Thank you,
Today I bought hdmi (Male-Male) cable and MHL 5-pin adapter for my Xperia Z1 Compact. And I have a really weird problem. So I set up everything the way it's supposed to be, connect hdmi cable to TV and mhl adapter, charging cable to adapter and then connect adapter to phone, also I set correct hdmi channel on TV. And, I get notification about MHL connected, but there's no any picture or sound on TV. Also, phone randomly stops charging, however mhl notification still stays and screen stays landscape, until I switch to another program on TV or unplug cable. Another weird thing, if I play any format of video in any player(even stock one), video stops every 4 sec and I have to manually press play every time(it's not performance issue though, I can play unoptimized games for qualcomm like GTA SA with same amount of framerate as if I played normally) and sound from video can sometimes go out through phone speaker(and it's not supposed to, instead should come as hdmi output on TV). And here some of the facts:
-My charger and cable normally works
-Without charger connected to mhl adapter, I dont get any notification, so charging part is fine
-If I unplug hdmi cable from mhl adapter, I dont get random charging interrupts, phone charges constantly
-I have stock 4.4 Kitkat Android, no system applications deleted
-My tv is from 2005, Panasonic, without mhl but has 2 Hdmi slots- 720p, in case TV means anything
I have 3 guesses that came to my mind: software issue(like bug or something), unsupported resolution(maybe if phone doesn't recognize TV's 720p and instead sets to full HD(but then there wouldn't be charging issue and probably video pausing issue too) and lastly, broken adapter(To mention, it's right type, 5 pin, so it could only be literally broken inside-loose, but it seems quality and if it was loose there would still be some kind of output on TV, during normal charging period)
Can anyone give some solution...? I can't find any similar problem to mine, so I have no idea what could be the cause.
I was under the impression that Lollipop supported USB audio devices OS wide, but I haven't been able to get my two Schiit DACs (Modi and Fulla) to work in Google Play Music. I also have a pair of Audioengine A2+ speakers (USB connection) that do work. All three of the devices are detected by USB Audio Tester and are connected via a USB OTG adapter and powered USB hub.
I've reached out to Google and Schiit. So far, only Schiit has responded, but they only said that USB audio may not work with all Android devices and that they didn't have a Nexus 5 to test. I'll update if I get any response from Google.
I haven't been able to find much on the internet about USB audio in Android. Google has two pages (1, 2) on USB audio didn't lead me to anything to help solve the problem, so if anyone is aware of other pages on the topic, let me know. Additionally, the second one only seems to confirm that the Nexus 5 should work since both of the Schiit devices are USB Audio 2.0 compliant. I'm also aware some apps support USB audio, but I need to use Google Play Music since I could only store a fraction of my library locally.
I am a photographer and had happily been using Google Photos to cycle images to the TV using the Ambient mode of Chromecast. This was with a Gen 1 Chromecast plug-in in the HDMI port all of my TV. I recently bought a new TCL TV with Chromecast built in and figured I would no longer need the plug-in version. That doesn't seem to work and although ambient mode is there, Google photos will not appear on the TV. If I plug in the old Chromecast dongle into an HDMI port oh, that still works fine. The idea however was to be able to use the built-in Chromecast device with nothing additional. No joy so far.
