Hi Guys,
My Pixel 2 got this issue that Mic and Speaker doesn't work and also the Apps related to sound and Mic also crashes ,
I do know it's related to the Hair line crack in the Qualcomm Audio Chipset ,
When I use Bluetooth Headphone I can listen and use sound related apps but Mic isn't working yet.
"If any one has a way to use Microphone in the Bluetooth headphone would be very usefull"
Does anyone bypassed the chip and directed mic directly through any custom kernel or Custom rom
Please Help if you guys know something .
Thanks in Advance.
Best advice would be to replace the chip. Check on AliExpress if you can source it from there?
Obviously you will need to have experience replacing chips or you will have to take it to very good repair shop.

I have problem with microphone. I don't know what can happen, yesterday I talk normally to today, when I speaking I hear myself voice in my phone, so if any person call to me he can't hear me what I talking.
But I discover that when I put on my headphones in minijack and when I talking microphone working o,O. So at this moment I only can calling with my headphones .
Whats going on ??
hey i'm having the similar problem and the one who talk to me cannot hear any voice from me. i just found the problem appears yesterday. Anyone here can help us,please,i don't wanna flash the rom once more to check whether it is related to the hardware damage or not
It not fault a ROM, becuase I instaled ROM again and problem are not solved .
In my opinion problem is in slot to headphones, I think connector did disconnect and microphone not working because when I put headphones mikrophone working...
Sorry if this is in the wrong section but dont know where to post this, as my phone is as of yet not really been devloped by anyone except that it has been rooted. theres no roms for it yet.
Its an alcatel one touch 983, which is an entry level android phone but with fairly decent specs. As it has a 1ghz broadcom processor and 512mb ram.
anyway , I have a brilliant app which i have paid for called Audiotool. which is a fully featured Real Time Anyliser for audio use. all anyliser functions work as expected.
The problem happens when using the headphone jack to output to speakers. The software has a generator utility used to generate pure tones, white noise, pink noise and even has a polarity checker. Which is really handy for working with Venue sound systems.
Obviously once you plug in a headphone jack it switches to headset mode and cuts of the phone mic. Audio output is still fine and you get the full range. But when you use the program to swtich to front mic to get the mic working again, all bass is lost. Which makes some of the functionality of the app useless, like polarity checking of bass speakers or low frequencie response.
Ive already contacted the developer and he confirms that his app does not apply any filters to audio out and that sound from the app should be exactly the same between using headset mic and phone mic, so it must be the phone that is applying a roll of filter. But unfortunatly as he doesnt have my model of phone to test on cant fix.
Anyway this seems to make sense as rolling of frequencies that the phone speaker cant really produce would be there to protect it, but it shouldnt be doing that while headphones are still plugged in. The headset icon is still on even when using the phone mic but bass frequencies coming from the headphone jack on the phone are definatly being rolled of. If i go mack to main mic bass frequences return but mic doesnt work.
Im wondering if this is a bug in the OS on how it functions to switch between headset mic and phone mic or if theres some kind of solution to stop it from doing that.
Im running a stock rom 2.3 android.
Not sure if there is a free version incase anyone wants to test it on there phone.
no ideas how to stop this odd behaviour?
Hello dear friends,
My OPO had all its microphone components replaced but that did not solve the issue, only on speakerphone does the other side hear me, thus i cannot use it in public...which is rather annoying.
The next option was to switch the audio chip component on the PCB, but that is both risky and expensive.. rendering this option not so favorable..
I know of such file that tells the phone which mic works at what mode, but im not a coder my self.. I was wondering if one such good soul would be kind enough to make me that file and guide me how to replace my original one, so that my phone will be spared from the bin... Phone is rooted, with TWN recovery.
thanks.

My microphone is probably faulty, nobody can hear me during calls, only with loudspeaker on, i would like to change the mic, but there is one problem... i don't know where to find it. there should be one mic near Jack that one should be fine, but where is located the main which is faulty? Could anyone help me? Thanks
I am having an issue, each time i make a call the other sides hears an echo of themselves talking (reverb, talkback) i have searched and searched but cannot find a solution, i tried to clean the mic holes and other possible solutions but no luck.
There is no echo present when i am using the loudspeaker so that's strange.... Any help would be appreciated...

Having Same problem. Updating and Reset didnt helped.
This happened to me on my phone, do you experience any echos on VoIP calls? (WhatsApp,Skype)
If yes, your microphone is probably broken and you have to change the charging port complete to get rid of this.

Other party hearing an echo of their own voice has nothing to do with the microphone on your phone...

I respect your knowledge but I have seen a broken microphone can cause this in Galaxy S7, which I have experienced before with my device. I had the exact same problem and replacing charging port with mic solved my problem.

Maybe some part of the board circuitry was routing their voice back into the mic circuit causing an echo effect, but the mic itself would not cause this, mic either picks up external audio or does not, that's it's only function
You replaced the entire board housing the mic and charging port and other circuitry not just the mic
Might look into the noise cancellation mics as 2 mics. AS this has been issues before on other devices....
