Hi there,
i'm sorry if there is another thread about that but i really didn't find it even i searched many hours!!! If there is already another one i would be grateful if you would give me the link to it.
My Question is as simple as short:
I've got a Sony Xperia Arc S (LT18i) and got the new official Android 4.0.3 realese. Everthing is fine except the UI of Sony Ericsson. Now i want to know if there is any way to get the "untouched" android 4 for my mobile phone as the one for Nexus. So: The Original Android 4 of Google without any themes, icons, branding just the necessary driver for the camera, mic, etc.

Hello,
I'm still confused; I'm planning to buy a new smartphone and I doubt between these two devices:
Xperia Z5 Compact by Sony
and Nexus 5X by LG & Google.
Both devices has matt color and feeling which is great for me.
The Nexus 5x is a Google supported phone so it receives always as first new updates and has zero bloatware pre-installed in the phone.
On the other hand we have the Sony which has great camera, nice Sony UI (I love Xperia keyboard, Xperia SMS app and the Sony Music player).
Who can help me to decide?
Thanks in advance:good:

As a Nexus 5X daily user I can say the device is phenomenal. The experience is very smooth. The camera is also quite good talking vivid high quality pictures. AOSP messaging on the Nexus 5X is quite nice and the keyboard is a good experience. The hesitation with the Z5 is the Snapdragon 810, which has had numerous issues since it's introduction. However if you intend to use more then 32 GB of storage (26 formatted capacity) the Z5 is better because of its expandable storage. Let me know if you have any more questions happy to help you out !
Hello,
I had some sony device and I really liked it. I had Xperia T and Xperia Z ultra. For changing, i decided to buy a Galaxy note 4. But I'm really disappointed about samsung software and touchwizz. So I decided to search sony software apk for changing that. I Found launcher, album and music. But I would like do more. Like to change lockscreen, notification panel, but I didn't found. I can root my phone if I need but I can't flash it. It's my 4th galaxy note 4 (I had lot of problems with it, so I can't lost warranty). I'm on android 5.1.1

So I’ve been out of the Android game for a while, but think I’m going to come back. I’ve been pretty happy with the Mac ecosystem for the past 3 or so years but lately ios11 seems to have borked my 6s+ as well as my wife’s 6s. That coupled with the plethora of seemingly good $250 range android phones available from GearBest, etc makes a strong case for making the switch back to android. But I have a few questions for you guys that are up to date in the android realm.
1 - any Chinese brands I should avoid due to poor build quality and being prone to failures?
2 - any Chinese brands that are known to be of a good quality build?
3 - best way to cope with the loss of iMessage? A lot of pictures and videos are exchanged between my wife and I of our child (soon to be children). I don’t want to exchange videos that looked to have been filmed on a kumquat.
3 - best way to send pics/vids to the iOS users in the family circle?
4 - I’m assuming people are still rooting and running custom roms......what are the popular, stable custom roms people are using? Cyanogen mod still a thing?
Thanks in advance for the help. I’ve recently sold my atv4, Mac mini and am currently attempting to sell my MacBook Air. Have already purchased a google home mini to test out and looking at the chrome books now. If I make the switch I plan on embracing google’s ecosystem.
No one can offer any guidance?
1- the cloned devices and try to avoid buying mtk based devices
2. Huawei and Xiomei ( well know for their good phone and cheap prices )
3. Google photos where you can sync photos over gmail ( from iphone to android and vice versa)
Or by using Send anywhere app :
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/send-anywhere-file-transfer/id596642855?mt=8
also there is a copy on playstore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estmob.android.sendanywhere
4.There is LineageOS now (CM dead now but LOS is the CM in a new name and a new uniform)
AOSPA Android Paranoid
and more like the Resurrection remix etc
Thanks for the reply. Ive kind of narrowed in on the ZTE axon 7, the Lenovo zuk z2 or the xiaomi mi a1. The first two have a snapdragon 820 and the ZTE seems to be the most feature packed of the bunch. Any issues with ZTE in general? I’m fixing to see what custom rims are available for the zuk and ZTE. I prefer a pretty barebones, vanilla android rom.
We should let SONY know that the current Android 9 Pie is the worst lazy treatment since the SONY upgrade system.
Xperia XZ3,Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, XA2, XA2 Ultra and XA2 Plus, which can be upgraded to Android 9 Pie, should be displayed to tell SONY about the Android 9 Pie experience.

Whats so bad about the experience? Explain yourself here, you took the time to post here.
Pie has better battery than Oreo, faster boot/smoother running, camera works without drm patch, root works on stock kernel, should I go on? Slight rotation glitch is about all ive found wrong.

Let the user wait for a long time, Pie is finally updated.
The update found that it is very different from the Android 9 Pie we know.
SONY's Android 9 Pie seems to be android oreo 8.1 experience
We lack many important features
No New-System-Navigation & Digital Wellbeing & Slice & actions
There is no change in the Setting UI.
Perhaps SONY developers should refer to what is Android 9 Pie
This is just a waste of time for the XPERIA XZ2 participating in the Android 9 Pie test.
Other complaints
1.Always on display Why not do a unified drop to all Android 9 models only XZ2 series
2.No. There is still no port Systemui with new clock (XZ Premium, XZ1, XZ1 Compact)
3.GOOGLE active marketing developers should have a dark theme
The dark theme that our sony music APP and Sony Album APP already have.
But should the apps used by Sony Phone, Sony Contacts, and Sony Mobile SupportXperia keyboards also include the dark theme option?

I agree, pie is good, in terms of technical stuff.
In terms of user experience its not smoother than oreo. Rotation isnt smooth, neither is going back and forth in apps especially whatsapp, and lil more smoothness problems.
Do I prefer oreo? Probably not, is pie alot better? Also not.
If this update is as smooth as oreo, id say yes it is a lot better.
But its not, plus we aint got recents panel like other pie running devices, no navigation bar, no change in UI, smoothness got worse, i cant seem to find a difference between HDR photo and non HDR phone in camera app, battery isnt better, there are some more glitches like some notifications get cut in half when sliding the notification bar, thats what i can remember, im sure there is more that I forgot.
Again Pie isnt bad and in some cases like the technical stuff its better than oreo, but in most cases especially the UX, its worse.
Either that or your device is super xz premium and not a normal one or some of us got bad xz premium devices from sony.

I don't understand why people are complaining, oreo had problems and after updates they we're fixed so just wait

You asked for why people think its not good i gave an answer, im pretty sure sony will do its best to deliver the best for us through future updates.
Still disappointed with the fact that we dont have android pie nav bar or recents panel...
Pie 9 - best
After I received android 9 PIE, my Sony Xz1 dual sim G8342 works more quickly, smoothly and battery saving energy.
What I like very much about PIE it is transition on diplay from one screen to another in apps or settings, power off menu, volume menu, clock on top left side.

You are wrong, don't agree with you, because battery on pie MORE faster loses a charge, and may be in some place pie interface looks some faster then oreo, for example widget of business calendar on desktop on oreo already appeared on a desktop and in pie he load 30 sec or more....
upd: may be pie firmware only for xzp is worst, and on other new sony models pie firmware better...
On my side the battery can be used around 3 days with Pie
