Hi,
I recently bought a OnePlus 8t indian unit and I am unable to see contents of Android/data as well as Android/obb using Xplore App or even extracting a zip fails using simpleunrar app. However when I try to use inbuilt File manager it seems to work fine.
I'm also facing the same issue. Does it have anything to do with Android 11?

That's what om thinking. Android 11 changes the way apps can access storage. It looks like apps need to be system in order to see those folders.

Scoped storage. Use shell to view it. Either in booted up android, or shell in recovery. Both need root.
I was able to view it using Total Commander app. Wouldn't work with Solid Explorer.

I regularly use the Root Explorer file manager. However, it always force closes on Android 6. Fresh installation from Play Store makes no difference.
I have the 2gb UK version.
Does anyone else face this problem or have a possible solution?
Thanks in advance!

It did for me as well. I just switched over to using solid explorer. No issues so far.
X-plore and ES File Explorer both working in root mode here as well... Root Explorer is FC'ing too though.
I have a G930F and installed TWRP + rooted with no issues. I can run rooted apps off of it as well like Titanium, Greenify, CF.Lumen, etc...
Although when I try the Root Explorer in ES File Manager, it keeps on telling me "Sorry test failed. This feature cannot run on your device". It doesn't look like it's even asking for root permissions. I tried different combinations of installing/uninstalling/rebooting and they don't seem to help. Any thoughts on what to do next?
Or if this is unfixable, any suggestions on what other file manager to use? Features I'm looking for include:
- Standard search/sort/filter/copy/cut/paste/delete
- Root Explorer
- FTP/SFTP support
- Configurable shortcuts/favorites
Thanks

I'd suggest solid explorer, very similar to es explorer but none of the app scanning and permissions crap that's recently been introduced in es.
Or just thinking out loud, would it be possible to add it to SuperSU's list without it requesting for access?

Your first problem is that you're using ES File Explorer.

I used to have an HTC M7 with the ARHD rom, and the rom came with it by default so I got used to it. I have to admit that there are some things I wish it would do that it doesn't. But I would say about 90% of what I need is available there.
But since I am starting fresh with a new phone, I'm open to suggestions if you have another root file explorer in mind. Pretty much the only thing outside of the standard functions that I need is sftp support, so I can copy/paste files to/from my mac.

Amaze or Solid Explorer is good. ES used to be good but it turned the way of Cheetah Mobile apps and started adding useless **** to their app.

If you google ES file explorer apk old version theres a website that has every ES file explorer apk from day 1. when the version changed to 4.X.X is when they added all the useless crap and adds.

lol yeah all of those sd card analysis and home page and stuff that I don't even use. I tried Solid Explorer, that thing looks nice. no extra fluff and just has what I'm looking for for a file manager
Do you guys know of any other file managers that allows for editing the DateModified? I know Total Commander has one, but I'm not digging their interface.

What do you mean by 'in system apps'?
Assuming you ready had Google app already pre Installed in system, if you manually installed the pixel launcher the. It's placed in data instead of system. Usually if you flash it, it's placed in system. If it let's you uninstall it then it would be concerned a data(user app) and not system

(i recommend disabling ur default launcher so if an error happens you have access to a different launcher(example OP^ launcher)
Yes I just tested it and it worked for me, I have root explorer as my file manager (u need root fyi)
You can use a different root file explorer app(whatever suits you,
1. just to be safe backup ur launcher in Titanium Backup.
2. go to /data/app and locate the folder come.google.nexus..... (i forget the rest of the folder name)
3. cut the folder once you locate it and move it to /system/priv-app/ and paste the folder
Make sure permissions are rwxr-xr-x(when I pasted mine I just did a reboot and it worked fine.)
4. reboot phone!
Wala

Yes because you need to unlock the bootloader for that. It will wipe everything on your phone. There's a great guide in the news & dicussion forum (pinned). Feel free to follow it.

You need to allow permissions to storage for the app in Privacy settings

disable install unknown apps permission ?
Sorry, but this didn't work. Try googling new "scoped storage" permission...
Partial solution is to use Files by Google beta app (not the stock file app)...
I am seeing the same on Solid Explorer on Beta 3. I have revoked and approved Storage permission and it doesn't do anything. May an update Dev might have to make?
File Explorer by xiaomi works.
Solid Explorer works fine.

After I disabled the install apps permission Solid Explorer works fine again.
Update: Files by Google not working anymore
Update 2: Files by Google working again, Solid Explorer doesn't work anymore.

The DocumentsUI module controls access to specific files for components that handle document permissions such as attaching a file to an email. This module is updatable, meaning it can receive updates to functionality outside of the normal Android release cycle.

3.copy all apk files to any internel storage folder
4. Install all these apk files at once using any split apk installer ( Recommended -com.smartpack.packagemanager )
download link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartpack.packagemanager
