Phone won't install 11.0.1.2.KB05AA OTA while rooted - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

Any help on how to update this?
Keep getting errors on install

I had the same situation and so did many others, see this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83791697&postcount=112. What I did was unroot -> apply update (standard hit button and wait for download/install) -> re-root with newer FW.

I also encountered the same problem, is there a way to solve it, thank you

Just wait for the system to update itself. You can't manually update until you get the auto system update.

Google this: oneplus system update apkmirror. Download and install. This adds the option to use local update. Do this then copy ota from download to the internal storage main folder.

Latest software update fails

Hi guys,
Just like other people I have also rooted my Note 3 and flagged/tripped the KNOX counter...
The issue first appeared when I was trying to upgrade from Android OS, v4.3 (Jelly Bean) to v4.4.2 (KitKat). The update notification popped, it took roughly 40 minutes to download the firmware and I was then prompted to install. The device then restarted automatically as usual and I received the "Failure to update" window. I have tried couple of times more in case something went wrong with the download but it didn't help. So I had to install the update manually from SamMobile, using Odin and wiping my phone data. Everything went well and I am now enjoying the KitKat version.
Today it seems a new update appeared around 26 MB and I am facing the same issue. After I download the update and hit install, the device will restart and then show the "Failure to update" window.
Is there any way to fix this? Does it mean I can never install the updates automatically?
Please advise and thanks in advance.

Oke, well you can`t install official updates when you are rooted (modified the system)! I suggest you download Mobile Odin Pro from Play and flash the whole new rom from www.sammobile.com and keep root.

Right, so I can just receive the updates but not install them! that's convenient
Do I have to wipe everything again or just install the latest update? Because if I have to wipe everything each time there's an update, I may just cancel the whole update thing until there's something like a major update

You don`t have to wipe as the updates atm are mostly bugfixes. Only wipe cache and dalvik cache after the flash.

Okay I think I got it, so each time there's an update I must download the whole ROM and flash it on top of the current? Since it's the same, it only updates the files that are needed while keeping the rest of the system intact.

You can find any and latest firmwares for your Huwaei phone by using the tool Firmware finder http://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146
The developer asked to share it.
It has pc version and phone application from playstore.
With this application you can update your phone and it's working 100%
Finally.
So you have try this and it works?
If yes you do it with Android app from playstore or from pc?
It will be great solution for everyone who has problems with OTA updates if this working great!

Yes i tried it ,with the application and it work.
You need the app from first page in his thread, it's a test version not the one in playstore.
Only work with signed firmwares.

It's in test version, but if you want maybe try:
Open firmware finder on pc ,start firmware update and copy the link for the firmware you want to flash, the link should be like http:..../..../f1/
And click start the server.
On your phone connect to the same wifi as ur pc,go to wifi settings, click and hold on the connected network, you will see advance settings, fill ip same as the ip of ur pc and port same as the one in firmware finder.
Once done go to update in phone settings and check for updates, you should see a new firmware update.
Hope you will understand.

yeah did that several times , the latest huawei device i had was the mate 7 , i didn't know they locked the update process via the dload method, i wouldn't allowed my gf to buy this phone if i knew , i thought i would be able to fix it quickly but oh well she'll just have to return it, one more reason to make me happy that i opted for the pixel xl instead of the mate 9
I have the LON-L29C636B124 firmware, the app from play store found the B139 for this device/donwloaded/md5 checked/unpacked and moved to the Dload folder bjt when i go the recovery it says there is nothing on that folder.

Ok, selected the ota not full B138 it updated, the security patch is december, ank kernel info date also december, but why it shows 126 instead of 138?
Maybe it just updated minor things not the full system?
And after update i do not notice anything.

You don't have to download the update in firmware finder, you only need to activate the server update in firmware finder and change the proxy, after that you go to system update and check for updates.

Oreo update not coming?

InoHello everyone.
It has been a long time since my last post....
I bought my HTC U11 128GB/6GB last August and I find it awesome. Since the announcement of the Oreo update being rolled out, I became impatient to try it. I checked and checked for updates... but nothing. Right now it's running Android 7.1.1, SW version 1.27.400.21, with the October 2017 security patch.
How can I find if there are other updates that I didn't receive? How can I find my model number? How can I force the updates?
Info: My phone is already unlocked (it's the first thing that I did after receiving it).
Edit: with Simple CID Getter I found out that my CID is HTC__060. Is it the DUGL/India model? If yes then I guess that the Oreo update didn't arrive yet?
Thank you in advance to anyone that can help me.

I just did a backup. Downloading the first files to upgrade from 1.27.400.21 to 2.31.400.6 now. Do I have to flash all the files? OTA, recovery, boot and firmware? Or only the OTA zip is enough?
Edit:
I tried to install the OTA Zip with TWRP and it gives me an error message. I think I will wait until the official OTA arrives (hoping it doesn't take too long).
The wwe version has only just been updated so you'll probably get the update in a month or so once the carrier is happy with the release. My advice is to wait. Do not root and s-off for it.

Downloaded the first time with VPN, tried to install it, but it didn't work (I had TWRP, and after reboot I got the message that the update was corrupted). I flashed the recovery from the Google Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...EYtQ_tRcOSJ0vWcvk8a7TK8Hk/edit#gid=2137120377
using:
Code:
adb reboot download
and then:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_1.27.400.21.img
I checked for updates and it asked me to download it again, no VPN needed. Downloaded it and tried to install it (much faster). Phone restarted, update started, and after a few seconds I saw a black screen with a red triangle.. it looks the same as when it's in recovery mode.... Had to restart the phone again.
I'm trying again to download it and I'll check better if I can see the error.
Edit: It goes fast from 1% to 24%, then it stops at 24% for about 19 seconds and then black screen with red triangle...
Any idea what the problem could be?

Sorry, don't think I can be of any help here. Have almost no experience with this sort of things.
In my case I did not do any tweaking with the original OS.
First tried to explore any possible option to get it "official" way.
My only guess would be to try to roll back to the original state and to have no trace of tweaking.

Edit: I did a factory reset, tried to update to Oreo, it still stopped at 24%. I flashed the latest RUU I could find on the spreadsheet, and then after 2 updates I'm finally on Oreo!!!

As far as i know rooted phones will not get OTA. You have to manually flash update.zip and root again, because rooting needs bootloader unlock and will not recognise the device in update server. I guess you have to wait for manual update zip...?

Poor support

You will get OTA on rooted phone but it wont install. Even just replacing the recovery wont help as your stock boot is modified while root. you need to flash the stock boot as well before you will be able to update via OTA.
Stock phone
Never rooted
Never changed recovery
Never unlocked bootloader
Ota is broke or non-existent
Support sucks.
Great phone if you never want updates
Bug fixes or new features.
These are as is throw away phones.

Question Wifi and Hotspot Not Turning On

Hi,
I bought my phone three months back. Ever since the last update Version Name - WW18.0840.2106.86 my wifi and Hotspot just won't turn on.
I have been through the asus forum and seems like alot of customers are facing this issue.
One of them confirmed that even after replacing motherboard the issue persists. Others are facing air trigger issues after replacing the motherboard.
Just wanted to know if anyone here is facing similar issues.
DO let me know your thoughts on should I visit service center and Get my motherboard replaced or should I wait for the next update. My current Version Name - WW18.0840.2107.151
PS: My phone is not rooted
Thanks
I have not had these issues personally. I just updated to .151 last night though, so we shall see.
The general consensus is that the mobo needs to be replaced, and will most likely not get fixed with a software update. If it was correctable, a major issue like this would have forced a new FW update after .86 caused your initial problem.
You could always try flashing raw FW if you really want to tinker, but I doubt it will help. I would hit the service center and get the mobo replaced.
Good luck!

OTA files are the standard updates. There are a lot of how to guides that answer most of these questions, which may be why nobody is jumping up to walk you through it.

The link I posted earlier is included in that. Not sure why nothing showed up for it, but maybe you'll have better luck getting to it that way.
There's always a possibility it is a hardware issue. A lot of them have been SIM, Wifi, and Bluetooth issues. If you suspect a kernel issue, make sure you are following the instructions to restore. If you only flashed a boot, you didn't follow the instructions.
