Anyone else having issues with pocket mode - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

Pocket mode on my 8T does not recognize when it's a pocket or when it's not. Had my phone in my hand and the screen won't let me use my fingerprint unless I follow instructions to exit "pocket mode"

I have had that same exp.
I took the OTA today.
maybe it will end?

Was it in a dark light area?

Can't access Internet During Call (VZW)

Hey,
I am using this phone on VZW and am having trouble accessing the internet during calls. I hit the home button (or the back button) and the screen just goes blank. I hit the power button to bring it back on, and attempt to try it again, and the same sort of thing happens. Is anyone else experiencing this? It's not a signal problem because I am in an area with LTE and the phone shows up as having 4G signal. Is there some weird setting I need to change?
The phone is running the latest update from VZW (the one from a week or so ago).
Thanks
-- Dan
The only way I can duplicate your problem is by waving my hand over the proximity sensor. It will black the screen out. I don't have to be very close to it for it to happen either. So I would guess you are inadvertently tripping it or your proximity sensor is possibly going bad.

I wasn't getting a BSOD after this morning's update, but my SP wasn't waking up after putting it to sleep. And it was getting really hot whilst asleep.
So, thinking it was a power related problem preventing the SP from sleeping, I went digging around and put a tick back in the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option of the network adaptor properties.
I unticked it a while ago when trying to troubleshoot a connection problem.
Now my SP is sleeping and waking correctly, and cooling down whilst asleep.
I'll leave that option ticked and see if everything stays happy.
Not sure if that will help you, but worth checking it out.
okay thanks. so are you surface pro hot after 10 minutes of use? not playing game.. simple surfing internet. anyway how to check whether the fan is working?
Well, it always gets hot when I'm using it. It still does. Even when just using ie and office.
But, it was getting really hot whilst it was supposed to be asleep.

[Q] Phone waking up in pocket

I am having a problem with this phone waking in my pocket. I am using a case which makes accidentally triggering a button next to impossible, yet the frequency of wakeup is high. This is most notable when an application is using location services. Anyone seeing this?
Just because the phone is awake doesn't mean its actually on. Show us your battery stats and usage.

it wasn't on. good suggestion though. @dpwhitty11, I get that, but in this case, I am using the term "waking up" to refer to it actually turning on. As in, I pull it out of my pocket and it is already on. I know the buttons are not getting bumped.
Mine was doing this all day when I got it. I'd feel the warmth from it or hear sounds. Pull it out of my pocket and it's in some menu or some program is open.
It's so bad I changed to a pattern lock to deal with it.

Double tap wake up feature

Anyone else having issue with this feature. I noticed my phone would wake up randomly in my pocket with this feature on.
I'm not sure exactly how it's even waking up as you still need to slide the bar across to unlock it. After i turned the feature off my phone wouldn't unlock itself anymore.

You would need to see if this ever happens outside your pocket, without anyone touching it. If it doesn't, perhaps you can try touching the phone through the outside of your pocket; perhaps you're doing that without noticing it.
So after two charging cycles with it off I don't see any major difference. Its just like the LG G2 for me, very minimal impact on battery life.

They should have used the proximity sensor to detect if it was in your pocket. Even manually covering the sensors up still allows the phone to be woke up.
Yeah, I had this issue too. Very annoying so so had to disable the feature. It's a shame because I liked unlocking it by tapping. Maybe they can fix it to not unlock if the proximity sensor is covered with a feature software update?

That's probably what they *should* do. I never/don't have a problem with it on my M8.
I doubt it'd use much battery life to check if it's up against something before turning the screen on.
I have same problem with waking up in pocket. And since lollipop update the new slide up to unlock has caused issues with phone activating the flashlight and messing with wifi bluetooth nfc and other quick settings. Sad I have to disable as I love this feature.
Glad I installed gravity box and had proximity sensor option for that

[Q] Overly saturated screen after reboot?

Hey guys,
So I got a S6 G920I last week, and I had to return it because the home button was kind of loose, and it was making a fun noise every time I pressed it. Now I have the replacement working fine, but I noticed something rather odd.
When I restart the phone, if I enter my SIM pin and unlock the device immediately after restarting (i.e. without letting the device to turn off the screen) I'm getting overly saturated screen colors, to the point that my wallpaper looks completely different.
The problem goes away after turning the screen off and on, but it's very weird this is happening. I've seen several issues with the S6 screen on the forum but nothing like this.
I'm adding the steps to reproduce (old habit from my QA days) just in case you have time to check it on your device:
1. Press and hold the power button
2. Tap on Restart
3. Immediately after the device restarts, enter you SIM pin (if needed). Don't let the screen turn off.
4. Unlock the device
After step 4. I'm seeing the device with a completely different screen color. Blacks are waaaaay to black, and generally looking very weird.
As I said the problem goes away after turning off and on the screen.
I'm adding some (very low quality) pictures, so maybe you can notice the issue. In the normal picture, you can see some diamond shapes in the wallpaper, but in the saturated image you can't because of the high contrast colors.
Let me know your thoughts please.
Thanks.
Mine does it too. Weird. Are you using a custom launcher or anything?

No, default launcher. I'm using the basic mode for the display, but I noticed it also happens if you're using Adaptive display. I can see you're using the international version, maybe it only happens on those devices... Can anyone using a T-Mobile or AT&T device confirm?
Can you try the same process with basic display mode instead of adaptive ?

I tried with basic display mode and adaptive display mode, both are behaving the same way.

I'm on a Canadian variant with a T-Mobile ROM. I don't THINK I have that issue. I tested with a dark wallpaper and it seems fine for me.
Just as a closure for this topic, after the last update I received in my SG6 a couple of days ago, the issue seems to have gone away. I've tried with different display configurations and couldn't reproduce it anymore.
