TESTED and WORKING ODIN FLASHABLE BUNDLES for Samsung Galaxy Y
Preface:
Since Galaxy Y has been released, there are several firmware files available from different sources, eg. sammobile and etc... But most of these firmware packages (which are original unmodified Kies files) are useless for us, because Odin is not able to flash these files.
Therefore I started to analyze the Kies pack, and finally developed a method to convert the Kies files to Odin-able package.
The full conversion process of one pack took me about 2-3 hours including download, analyze, rebuild, test, upload, and finally post. So please keep in mind, I'm not just a redistributor of the firmware files, I've real work in it. Your thanks (button) and donations are very welcome, if my work helps you anyway.
In case Your work based in my rebuilt bundles, crediting me is expected. Stealing my work is unforgivable.

Depending on your interest (and my spare time), I'll build additional versions...
In case You have a specific request, please post your full version info from dialer *#1234# (if you're on your original ROM) and PCODE from *2767*4387264636# !
My recommendation to record above info when you're on your original ROM, before experimenting any other versions!
Please read post #2 and #3 for flashing guide and FAQ!
<<< Please use the thanks button if you find it useful! >>>
Odin flash guide...
Before You proceed: take a notice, and record your original (in case you are on original stock fw) firmware levels by typing *#1234# and PCODE by *2767*4387264636#. This might be helpful if you want to go back to your original in-box firmware.
Check WHITE-CZ's video tutorial on the boot mode selection, and Odin flash!
- download the required firmware bundle (one of the repacked from the #1 post above)
- install Kies, or Samsung driver pack
- unzip the package, You'll get 3 *.tar (or tar.md5) files
- download Odin3 1.84 or 1.85 (click here)
- stop Kies
- stop all active ADB sessions
- start odin
- do backup of your data and apps
- charge your SGY at least 75%
- remove SGY from USB or charger
- start the device in Download mode
- power off Your SGY
- wait 30 sec
- Press Vol Down, Home, and Power at the same time
- When (about 5 sec) Warning screen appears, release Volume Down and Power, then (a bit later) Home
- press Vol Up (You'll get Odin mode screen)
- Browse the 3 tar files to odin PDA=PDA_xxxx.tar, PHONE=MODEM_ or PHONE_xxxxx.tar, CSC=CSC_xxxxx.tar
- no PIT and/or BOOT files required - leave it empty!
- leave all other fields and checkboxes default!
- connect your phone, You must see yellow 0:[COMxx] in the first ID:COM and "Added" in the message box
- Start flashing by the START button.
- flashing will start immediately, see the progress in the message box, and progress bar on the phone
- Wait 1-3 minutes, until green PASS! in the upper left
- SGY will reboot, leave it as is for 2-5 minutes until startup finishes
- if it stuck (eg boot anim loop) then: - Start the phone in Recovery mode
- remove battery
- resinsert battery, wait 30 sec
- press Vol Up, Home, Power at the same time
- when Galaxy Y logo appears, release the Power button
- when Recovery menu appears, release the Home button first, then finally Vol Up
- select wipe data/factory reset (Vol UP/Down + Home)
- select reboot system nowWhen Android boots up, it's highly recommended to set your CSC via the dialer *#272*_your_imei_# (to see IMEI type *#06# in dialer) -> (it will erase all your data on the phone, but not the SD card)

- DDLA3 :minor CSC file corruption. may cause boot loop after flashing via Odin -> CSC corrected -> full pack replaced
- DXLA1 : 1 report (of 150+ download) on unrecoverable boot loop after flashing - reason unknown
- as of 10th of April I made some changes in the firmware pack: files are md5 secured and update packs are wipe versions. It means you suffer "factory reset" by flashing new firmware, but this way there is minimal occurrence of boot loop after a flash.
FAQ
F.A.Q.
Q: I'm requesting x or y provider/country's ROM version to restore my phone's original state
A: In case You have a specific request, please post your PCODE from *2767*4387264636# and full version info from dialer *#1234# of your original ROM version. If you don't have this (already left original ROM) , then ask someone who has the same device with same provider/country! Check availability on http://fus.nanzen.se If you're smart enough, you can download the FUS file, then convert it by SplitFUS2.
If converting is difficult to you, then post it here or PM me.
Withoout PCODE and full HIDSWVER I can't help you!
plan B for finding original HIDSWVER
If you have Kies installed, and connected your phone with the original firmware, you have good chance to find it in Windows registry:
Start regedit.exe and check under the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB...
there should be some numbered sub-keys, eg 1, 2, 3, etc...
Under the numbered keys, look for "HIDSWVER" It has the following format:
I9100XWKI4/I9100OXXKI2/I9100XXKI1/I9100XWKI4
Notice the ProductCode key at the same page, it's useful to search for FUS packages at http://fus.nanzen.se
Q: Flashing any firmware to my phone will erase the network lock?
A: NO. The network (or SIM) lock still remain active. By flashing firmware you can't deactivate the lock. It's stored elsewhere.
Q: Flashing an operator specific firmware will restrict my open phone to that operator's network?
A: NO. Your phone still remain open for any SIM. Operator specific builds usually containing "only" bloatwares, wallpapers and/or browser settings, etc...
Q: Is it possible to update the PDA or MODEM only
A: Yes, You can update any one component independently if you have a good reason for, but remember: recommended to have consistent components
Q: Where is the bootloader tar and pit file?
A: those are not used for a Kies like update. You can find totoro*.pit and bootloader in other S5360 firmware bundles, and use if you really need it, but not necessarily needed for flashing
Q: Do I need to tick repartition?
A: NO! Leave all check-boxes as default!
Q: Really??? Do not tick repartition?
A: REALLY, I told You! Leave it unticked!!! ...And leave bootloader empty as well! COPY THAT?!?!?!
Q: Will Odin increase my custom bin counter flashing these packs?
A: No. Custom bin counter increased in case, when you flash non-stock firmware. Bundles provided here are all stock files.
Q: Wipe vs Non wipe packs?
A: Wipe pack has been build including an empty userdata partition, that way flashing a wipe pack will erase your user data.
Usually wipe packs has less issues after flashing, that way as of 10th of April I've decided to post here wipe packs only.
Q: I've got no issues in the past with non wipe packs. I want to flash new firmwares by having my data untouched. Can I modify wipe pack to non wipe pack?
A: Yes: Rename PDA*.tar.md5 to *.tar, then remove the userdata.img file! Don't forget to backup, because non wipe packs sometimes leads you to boot loop, and the solution is wipe data/cache.

wow! quite an achievement! excellent job, man !
Too bad, that Kies only flashes the SGY a single time, until the next update. so one can't research Kies a lot during flash updates. And there seems to be no way to force the SGY into a pristine state, so Kies would update it again.

Yes, you're right, ... but...
There are country specific CSC codes, and there are provider specific CSCs as well .
For example, my country code is XEH, which CSC contains all the providers in the country. (I suppose) these country wide CSC's does not contains provider specific bloatwares, only basic parameters like voicemail number, APN, browser homepage etc... "Rebranding" requires provider specific CSC like PAN or VDH in my case.

Well, You're talking about firmware region codes, I'm talking about CSC's.
Regional code determines, which languages supported by the firmware build itself.
CSC determines, which provider's base settings are predefined (and provider specific other things included)
But I'm affraid, we're going offtopic... If you have any specific (language or provider) request, please let me know, and I'll build it for You!
(I've corrected "region" to "brand" in the OP ;-)

I tested S5360XXKL3_OXXKL1_XXKL3_by_Doky73.zip

looks pretty good. no problems so far.

Odin v1.85 and v1.84 do work with our SGYs.
my best guess is, other versions of ODIN do not work. (I tried 2.42 or so)
what would be the result of repartitioning and including the .pit file ?
would it brick the SGY ? the readme file speaks of possible missing files.

rebranding typically adds useless bloatware, that we need to get rid of. (such as wallpapers with stupid company logos and crap)

The main purpose of rebranding, to let providers set up automatically some carrier specific parameters such as voicemail, SMS center phone numbers, 3G Access Point Names (APNs) etc...
While Android is much more customizable, rebranding likely used by providers, to add their own wallpapers, icons, applications etc...
So rebranding may be skipped, but in case you might need to set up some carrier specific parameters manually.

DO NOT flash a firmware build for a different model number. Period. (Model numbers are in bold)
If you have the correct model number but a different region, you should be fine if you perform a factory reset first. Obviously this will erase any and all app data, settings, ringtones, etc. which is why you should always make backups first.

DO NOT flash a firmware build for a different model number. Period. (Model numbers are in bold)
If you have the correct model number but a different region, you should be fine if you perform a factory reset first. Obviously this will erase any and all app data, settings, ringtones, etc. which is why you should always make backups first.
NOTICE :
You should always make a factory reset before flashing via Odin, if you have another region (CSC).

Sorry that file was corrupt, obviously I was unaware.
Here is a slightly older firmware
I was able to extract it using winrar. Unfortunately it's not the newest, but it still is 4.4.2 Kit Kat.
If you want I'll PM you a download link to the extracted tar.md5 file, and assuming it works I'll update the OP. Sorry that file was corrupted that's really crappy of me
I've double checked, all links have been fixed, no corrupted zip files or any other problems guaranteed. I'm sure I'm missing regions and possibly entire model numbers, let me know and I'll try to help you out. Hope this still helps people
Well... People should know this tool more.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57842725. No rapidgator or anything! Fast download speeds at all times. Unsure if you use that but its a great tool and solution to slow download speeds. Basically, just go onto the samsung updates website, pick the firmware you want, and copy the pda/csc/modem into the tool. Modem on wifi devices is the same as pda. So just enter the same info for pda and modem only if its an wifi device. Lte devices has modem info on the website. After it downloads, hit the decrypt button. Then the firmware should be in the folder of where the tool is located.
Hopefully this helped someone!

If that works for you then more power to you, but last time I tried a download tool like that for these I got a bunch of corrupted zips. Probably I did something wrong, oh well. Hopefully this thread helps people, the links are all double-checked, and I don't mind suffering the rapidgator slow-as-molasses download speeds if it can help other people. I've gotten all the model numbers I know about, now I have to start adding more regions and any firmware updates I may have (read probably) missed.
Update: Canadian firmware files on the way for all you hosers out there. A collective thank you for inventing my favorite sport
Cheers for this, I had a NAND backup but never hurts to have a fresh stock image around!

I honestly don't know if this is worth bothering you guys over, but I just wanted to make sure you were aware in case this is significant. Apparently (from what I can tell) Samsung released a new official firmware for the SM-T231 (Caucasus region) sometime in January 2015, designated OA2 (look up the naming system for Samsung firmware builds, if you didn't know, there is a method to the madness). I was unable to find a changelog and I know it's still 4.4.2 KitKat, but I figured I'd share, since you guys seem to be the ones putting out roms for the T231. Anyway if you want it's now in the OP.
I'm sharing this mainly because I noticed every other T231 firmware build is from last year, and all the T231 roms I see are based on those builds. Again, no idea how much (if any) an improvement this new build might be

Should be better. Thank you. I'll have to update my base to the new firmware.
No change log??
