Use them once, swipe from one of the corners up to the middle and the assistant gets activated. Ask it something and close again. It should be gone after that. If not, change your controls to the gestures left and right and do the same again. After that change the controls/gestures tot the one you like.
Let me know if this works , good luck

Thank you, now i know that it has to do with google assistant. I tried to swipe up from the bottom corner but it didn't worked even though the system gestures are set to left and right. They also didn't disappeard after i deactivated it in the assistant settings.

Dont know why but i used the left and the right hook, and after that it dissapeared

And you just swiped up from one of them?
Cos it seems like i don't have access to them.
Edit: I changed the launcher from Nova to Oneplus and now it worked and they disappeared.
Thank you much guys!

[Q] Google Now opens on screen unlock.

Hi, firstly I'd like to apologise if this is in the wrong place as forums generally confuse me.
The 'problem' is this. When I unlock my phone, from the screen lock, instead of displaying my homescreen
Google Now is instantly displayed, regardless if it was the last thing I looked at or not.
It is really bugging me, to the point I've turned off Google now, but I wonder if there is another solution,
as I really like this feature and having it as part of my home screens in kit kat.
Many thanks
If you swipe up on the lockscreen that will take you to google now when you unlock the phone.

Are you on the stock launcher? What type of screen lock are you using?

Yes, I am using the stock launcher, and am using the default swipe screen lock, the one which displays a little round padlock icon

This is not from that upward swipe, it happens from any unlock. The phone unlocks as normal
except the first screen that appears is Google now. I've notice it only happens after around 5+ minutes of standby

Upon unlocking, the GEL is supposed to load the Google Now UI on the hidden left homescreen so it's ready to be accessed with a swipe. From what you describe, it appears that the swipe-to-unlock gesture is also being registered as the swipe to the right that displays Google Now. Since Google Now is part of Google Search, it might be worth a try to clear data of Google Search. Also, does the same thing happen If you use a pattern or pin to lock the screen?

Hi, I tried a wide of the Google Search data, which wiped all homescreens.
Even so, the problem remains.
I have also used pattern unlock which resulted in the same thing happening.

This happens to me also. It doesn't happen all the time. It started after upgrading to Lollipop. Any answer to this yet?

This still happens maybe once every other week. I wonder if it is related to the Google Now weather notification on the lockscreen that is somehow getting triggered when the phone is unlocked.

anyone with root and xposed lost double tap to wake?

Did you change your launcher? It does seem much slower to activate now for me but I am also using Nova. I can't help but wonder if that is why.

Yes, mine works laying down. But it takes time for that first time. Once it happens then after that it is pretty responsive but that first wake via double tap is laggy.

I have noticed that the gestures don't seem to work when you are charging it. Maybe that is the problem.
Mine stops working as well since I modified the navigation bar with gravity box. I added a screen off button and when I use it a few times, the tap/swipe to wake stops working until I turn it off and back on again
mine isnt 100% responsive, but that was the case before xposed. ive gotten used to the "triple tap" to fix this haha
That feature is only designed to work after the phone. Has been moved. So it shouldn't work laying flat on a desks and untouched.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using xda app-developers app
Just curious, what other components of Gravity Box have you got working?
I find it insipid that even after you ask the OS to show you battery percentage, it insists on ALSO showing you a battery icon. I know Gravity Box can fix that on my TF300T. Anyone try that on the M8? How about coloring the status bar icons?

Noticed this happens from time to time with having to do hard reboots and then redoing everything. Quick way I found to bring it back is by turning the feature off then on and it works right away. If not, it comes back after 5-10mins.
all is good over here... im rooted and have xposed installed and double tap works perfectly

This morning my edge apps lost one column, anyone else have this issue?

As the title states, My edge apps column shrank down to one column instead of the usual 2. Is there any way to get this back to normal?

If I'm understanding you correctly, just open the edge panel them click on settings then at the bottom of the apps edge should be the edit button. You should be able to click on that to add your apps back.

No. not the individual apps like the music player, device maintenance etc. Theres a panel called "apps edge" and by default it shows 2 columns. For some strange reason it now shows only 1 no matter if i turn off then back on that specific panel or rearrange it or try to remove and add apps.
Ok. I thought you were talking about this...
Well I seem to have resolved the issue by messing around with it for a bit. I will just leave my reply here in case anyone else has this issue.
After rebooting phone I basically started removing apps off the edge panel. I removed about 2 of them and went to put one back on and the 2nd column appeared again. Don't know if this is considered even a fix but I figured I should let people know what I did in case it happens to them before they factory reset their phone.

yes that particular edge panel.
for some reason this morning mine appeared like this :
Instead of showing 2 columns it was stuck on 1

MIUI thinks I'm swiping back

So, the problem started when I was typing fast, sometimes the keyboard would minimize itself. Then I realized it was only when I was near the "a" key (independent of the keyboard app). So, I got to make some tests, it turns out the screen thinks I am swiping to go back, when I'm not. Please check this video: https://youtu.be/cdg4_oJ68aM
Is there something I can do?
I'm on a Mi Mix 2s 9.5.19.0
I had this problem too. I no longer own the phone though so I'm afraid I can't help. I was wondering if it was fixed in the MIUI 10 beta but nobody has answered it so far. If anyone can chime in to say if it's fixed now would be nice, it made typing basically impossible for me.
Well, it was a display defect. I have to wait 2 weeks for the replacement part to arrive, but it's under warranty. Until then, I'll just use the on screen buttons.
It happens to me from time to time, but not sure if this is my fault. I don't understand the methodology of your test on the video (what are you pressing and when?).

It's the test module of MIUI, I'm just tapping left, right, left, right, etc, sometimes it is interpreted as a swipe between the 2 points (when a line appears). But it's pretty agressive in my display, got it checked and they are going to replace it under warranty.
So I shouldn't get any red lines when just taping right and left? I have those....
That's what happens to me and I'm getting back randomly after a few seconds of quickly taping left and right.
Where did you buy your phone?
I bought it on Aliexpress with Goldway but sending it back for a replacement is not really an option for me.

That lines get interpreted as swipes, so that's why my keyboard minimized when i was using it. If you want something more graphic you can try it on a simple drawing app (like this one), please look at the attached file. I live in Bolivia, here Xiaomi has official representation, so they come with a 15-month warranty.

So this shouldn't happen at all?
Please see image attached.
Could other users confirm that when they just tap left and right very quickly, no lines are created? Thanks!
Xiaomi now sells directly in France but I have the 8/256 version only sold in China for now anyway.
Now it happens to me from time to time to have the keybord closed with a "false" back, but not enough to really think there was an issue, I just didn't understand why it closed. Thanks for pointing that, now I'm gonna be annoyed each time.

But hey, you know what i did in the meantime? I installed XDA Gestures, configured the same gestures as MIUI, and hid the gesture pill. VoilĂ , you get the same but without that problem. :good: That's good for now.

You mean:
1) Put back navigation bar on MIUI, disable gesture
2) Install XDA gesture and remove the navbar, configure it as MIUI
3) ?????
4) Profit
Is that it?
There are quite some options in XDA Gesture settings, could you post a screenshot of your preferences (like the 4 screens) so I can copy them? Sorry to bother you with this!
Also instead of using the sides to swipe back, it will use the lower part of the screen only? That's how your fix works?

Here are the settings attached (the pill color is transparent), just changed the right swipe to go to last app, instead of back. Remember that to install XDA Gestures you have to use ADB from your PC/Mac, for that to work you have to enable both "USB Debugging" toggles shown in the screenshot.
Does attached mean my unit is ok?

Thanks a lot, gonna do that on monday, just waiting for my bootloader waiting period to end (I know I can to this without root or anything, but as I'll need to do it again....)
Just to confirm, this means the gestures will be at the bottom of the screen only, no back function from the edge, right ? I don't think it will bother me much if this is like that.

Seems to be fine, if you were tapping fast each side, this is perfect. I can't manage to do this without having false swipe.

Question P7P non rooted.. any way to disable navigation bar?

I love my P7P so far. I love gestures for back, recents, etc. I just read on Reddit about the navigation bar and how it's useless and getting burned in people's screens. Is there any way to disable it without rooting?
If I do have to root, do I get a message every boot about my phone being rooted? I hate that. My last phone was a Motorola that did that. I have rooted more than one phone before.

Without root, your options are limited, but I think you can use the APK in this post with Substratum Lite. I think you can use Substratum Lite with ADB privileges.

I don't believe you can with Nova. I read that on Reddit. I own it, just didn't install it because I'm loving the stock launcher on this phone. No bloatware. Just a great running phone so far. I really love that I don't even have to install voicemail (I don't use it).

If you want to keep the stock launcher, root is your only option. Yes, you'll get a warning that the bootloader is unlocked, but you can double tap the power button to get past it (first press pauses so you can go to some link ~ second press resumes and you boot up)

What? Nova most certainly allows you to remove the useless static search bar that Google forces upon you! I know because I have the P7 Pro and use Nova Prime as my launcher! If I could simply remove the search bar which I have NEVER used on ANY phone then I might use the default launcher! Nova works great!
I see that I may be confusing the NAV bar with the search bar???? Either way I use NAV buttons so not sure what NAV bar you are talking about???? Sorry!
